As she walked through the familiar streets of Hope Valley, memories of happier times flooded her mind. She spotted Henry near the saloon, talking to Lucas. Taking a deep breath, she approached them.
"Henry," she called softly.
Both men turned to look at her. Henry's eyes widened in surprise, and then softened with a mix of emotions.
"Abigail," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Could we talk?" she asked, glancing at Lucas, who was already walking away to give them some privacy.
Henry took a step closer, searching her eyes. "Of course. Do you want to go for a walk?"
Abigail took a deep breath, feeling her heart race. "That would be nice." They walked to the pond by the church in silence."
"Look, I just need to say it. I treated you horribly and I wouldn't be surprised if you never wanted to talk to me again. I'm so sorry. I had no right to accuse you of everything that I did. And if I'm being honest, these past few weeks, I have been a bad mother to Cody. But that ended the second you drove away. I don't think I can ever forgive myself for hurting the man I love."
Henry stopped dead in his tracks, looking at Abigail with a look she couldn't quite comprehend. She was scared he would reject her, but she had to continue anyway.
"I love you, Henry Gowen. I wish I had admitted it to myself sooner, but I love you. I'm just so sor–"
"Abigail, stop apologizing. Just kiss me." He wrapped her arms around her as she laid the sweetest of kisses upon his lips.
