Ash prepared himself for the battle with the possessed Mario, his determination unwavering. As he sprinted forward, the dark Mario began firing a barrage of fireballs. Ash skillfully sidestepped and slashed through the fiery attacks, closing the distance between them. With swift precision, Ash landed a series of combo slash strikes, each hit staggering the dark Mario.
However, the puppet fighter quickly retaliated with a massive glove punch. Ash blocked with his katana, but the force was enough to push him back, his feet dragging along the platform. He gritted his teeth, maintaining his stance, then charged forward once more.
Kirby, slowly recovering from Mario's earlier attack, watched in awe as Ash held his own against the formidable opponent. It was clear that Ash's skills had grown significantly, possibly due to Palutena's influence.
Ash seemed to have the upper hand until dark Mario used his grapple hold, lifting Ash momentarily before slamming him down. Ash managed to recover quickly, but dark Mario was already preparing another fireball. Kirby, noticing this, rushed forward and intercepted the fireball, absorbing it into its mouth and swallowing it.
Then, Kirby opened its mouth wide and attempted to suck Mario in. Dark Mario resisted the vacuum force, but eventually, he lost his footing and was pulled into Kirby's mouth. Inside, dark Mario kicked and punched comedically, but Kirby swallowed with a big gulp, gaining a Mario hat in the process. The dark Mario puppet was expelled from Kirby like a star, landing hard on the platform and groaning in pain.
Ash chuckled at Kirby's new hat, teasing, "Nice hat, Kirby!" But Kirby quickly gestured for Ash to take down dark Mario while he was staggered.
Ash nodded and dashed forward, delivering powerful combo hits and heavy katana slashes. Each strike weakened dark Mario further. With one final effort, Ash formed an Aura Sphere in his palm and slammed it forcefully against dark Mario's chest. The impact sent dark Mario flying back, landing hard on his back.
Dark Mario lay there, unmoving, the red glow in his eyes fading as the control over him was broken. The battle was over.
Ash sheathed his katana and walked over to the fallen Mario. "Mario, can you hear me?" he called out, concerned.
Slowly, Mario's eyes fluttered open, their familiar blue color gradually returning. "Where... am I?" His vision was hazy until it focused on a pink blob blinking beside him. "...Kirby?" he asked, still feeling disoriented.
Kirby beamed with a cheerful, "Poyo!"
Mario managed a small smile before turning his gaze to the newcomer standing next to Kirby. "Who... are you?" he asked, his voice tinged with weariness.
Ash offered Mario a reassuring smile. "I'm Ash Ketchum. Glad to see you're coming to your senses, Mario."
Mario chuckled softly. "Thanks to you and Kirby," he said, wincing slightly. "But, uh... next time, maybe a little less force, alright?"
Ash laughed lightly. "I'll keep that in mind." He extended a hand to Mario. "Here, let me help you up."
Mario took Ash's hand gratefully and was lifted to his feet. Kirby immediately bounced over and gave Mario a comforting hug, which he warmly returned. Mario then glanced at Ash, gaining a clearer understanding of who he was. "So, you're the one Palutena has been trying to reach," he deduced.
Ash looked puzzled for a moment. "You know Palutena?" He then realized how obvious that must be and added, "Oh, right, of course you do. My mistake." He scratched his head sheepishly.
Mario chuckled. "No worries, Ash. I'm just glad she found the right person to help us against Galeem."
"I'll do my best!"
"I know you will," Mario said with a confident smile. He then asked, "So, where are you headed next?"
Ash thought for a moment, crossing his arms and tapping his chin thoughtfully before looking at Kirby. "Any idea where we should go from here, Kirby?" he asked.
Kirby blinked innocently, clearly unsure.
Ash sighed in frustration.
Mario grinned. "How about I join you on your journey? An extra hand might come in handy."
"That sounds great, Mario," Ash said with a playful grin, accepting the offer. "Welcome to the team!"
Mario nodded, chuckling.
Mario joins the battle!
...
With Mario now part of their team, Ash, Kirby, and Mario resumed their adventure, determined to save the other Super Smash Brothers roster members from Galeem's control. The path ahead was fraught with challenges, but their combined skills gave them a newfound confidence.
As they ventured along their journey, the trio arrived at a vast, mechanical arena. The air was filled with the hum of machinery and the clanking of metal. In the distance, they spotted a towering figure—a giant R.O.B. puppet, clearly under Galeem's control. Its red eyes glowed ominously as it stomped towards them, its massive frame casting a long shadow over the landscape.
"Looks like we've got a big one this time," Ash said, gripping his katana firmly.
Mario nodded, adjusting his cap. "We've faced tough opponents before. Let's use our strengths and work together."
Kirby bounced excitedly, ready for action.
The giant R.O.B. raised its mechanical arms, charging at them with tremendous force. It fired a barrage of lasers and missiles, each attack powerful enough to cause significant damage.
"Kirby, get in there and distract it!" Ash shouted.
Kirby sprang into action, darting around the giant R.O.B. with incredible speed. It used its quick and unorthodox movements to evade the R.O.B.'s attacks while occasionally launching counter-attacks with powerful puff attacks.
Mario jumped into the fray, using his agility and balance to dodge the R.O.B.'s assaults. He performed a series of acrobatic maneuvers, launching fireballs at the mechanical giant and causing it to stagger.
Ash took advantage of the opening, dashing forward with his katana drawn. He unleashed a flurry of precise strikes, each blow slicing through the R.O.B.'s defenses. The giant R.O.B. attempted to retaliate, but its movements were increasingly hindered by the coordinated assault from Ash, Kirby, and Mario.
The battle raged on, with Kirby using its signature inhaling ability to absorb and redirect some of the R.O.B.'s attacks. Mario used his balance and jumping skills to leap over the R.O.B.'s defenses and deliver powerful hammer swings, each hit weakening the puppet further.
As the R.O.B. began to falter, it attempted one last desperate attack, launching a massive energy beam from its eyes. Ash, seeing the attack coming, quickly summoned an Aura Sphere and fired it at the beam, causing a massive explosion that sent the R.O.B. reeling.
"Now's our chance!" Ash called out.
With one final, combined effort, Kirby inhaled deeply and transformed into a giant stone, slamming down onto the R.O.B. from above. Mario followed up with a powerful fireball attack, and Ash delivered a decisive slash with his katana.
The giant R.O.B. let out a mechanical groan as it collapsed, its red eyes dimming as the control over it was broken. The defeated puppet shattered into pieces, revealing the path forward.
Breathing heavily but triumphant, Ash, Kirby, and Mario stood victorious.
"Great job, team!" Ash said, smiling at his friends. "We make a pretty good team, don't we?"
"That we do," Mario agreed, tipping his cap. "Let's keep moving. We've got more allies to save."
Kirby bounced happily, its round face glowing with satisfaction.
...
The group continued their journey, navigating through rocky valleys and rugged terrain. As they advanced, the landscape gradually transformed, giving way to the sight of highways and race tracks in the distance. This new scenery hinted that they were approaching a city or some sort of urban area.
However, before they could get any closer, they encountered a new obstacle: a group of Inkling puppets, their eyes glowing red under Galeem's control. The Inklings, usually vibrant and energetic, were now menacing and unyielding, ready to attack.
Ash, ever the optimist despite the circumstances, chuckled and said, "Well, the fun never ends, does it?"
Mario glanced at the Inkling puppets, a confident grin spreading across his face. "This will be a piece of cake. Just follow my lead."
Kirby, always eager to help, bounced happily and readied itself for action. "Poyo!"
The Inklings began to spray ink across the ground, their weapons primed to attack. The battlefield became a splattered mess of ink, making it slippery and difficult to navigate.
"Kirby, can you clear some of that ink?" Ash called out.
Kirby nodded and inhaled deeply, then puffed out a strong gust of wind that cleared away some of the ink, creating clearer paths for movement.
Mario took advantage of the cleared areas, launching into a series of high-speed maneuvers. He expertly dodged the ink splatters and retaliated with fireballs and powerful punches, knocking back the Inkling puppets and keeping them at bay.
Ash, with his katana in hand, moved with precision. He dodged and slashed through the Inkling puppets, cutting through their defenses with swift, powerful strikes. Each slash was accompanied by a sharp flash of steel, making quick work of the ink-covered foes.
The Inklings tried to regroup and launch a coordinated attack, but Kirby was ready. It inhaled again, transforming into a massive stone and dropping onto a group of Inkling puppets. The impact caused a seismic shock that sent several Inklings flying, their control faltering.
With their opponents scattered, Mario and Ash seized the opportunity. Mario performed a series of rapid jumps and fireball throws, while Ash executed a series of precise strikes and combo moves. Together, they systematically took down the remaining Inkling puppets.
As the last Inkling puppet fell, the group stood victorious amid the remnants of ink and chaos.
"Nice work, everyone," Ash said, grinning at his friends.
Mario nodded, brushing some ink off his cap. "That was just a warm-up. Let's head towards the city and see who else needs our help."
Unbeknownst to the trio, they were being observed from a high vantage point. On top of a cliff overlooking the city, a figure stood silently, cloaked in a blue tunic. The familiar silhouette belonged to Link, but his red glowing eyes betrayed the fact that he was under Galeem's control. The once-heroic Hyrulian swordsman was now a puppet of darkness, his gaze fixed intently on the group below.
