X-Men: The Unnatural Omega's Volume 4, Endgames

Chapter 34: True Nature's, and Dark Deals, Part 1

Bruce Wayne sat alone in his study, his thoughts heavy with the weight of a monumental decision. The room was dimly lit, casting long shadows on the walls adorned with artifacts from his double life. He had been contemplating this choice for weeks, seeking guidance and reflecting on the consequences. Despite Nightwing and Selina's skepticism, he had taken the time to talk to the Core, the Almighty, or God—whatever name He was known by. The conversations had been enlightening, offering Bruce a perspective he had long resisted.

Reports had been flowing in from the various initiatives he had set in motion. Poison Ivy, now leading a field of research with the modified G.E.C.K., was achieving remarkable success. The device could now be used multiple times to restore poisoned environments and grow plants within seconds. Fields of crops and flowers flourished under her care, transforming once barren lands into verdant oases.

Victor Freeze, who was now living with his wife Nora, was another success story. After Bruce had helped Victor use the cold fusion reactor to revive Nora from cryogenic stasis and cure her condition, the couple was reintegrating into society. They were making the most of the second chance Bruce had given them, dedicating themselves to scientific research and community service.

Bruce knew that these efforts were steps in the right direction, but the matter at hand was far more significant. He had reached a decision, one that he knew would have profound implications for his life and his mission. He needed to confide in those he trusted most.

Bruce gathered Selina Kyle, Barbara Gordon, and Tim Drake in the Batcave. The atmosphere was tense, each of them sensing the gravity of what Bruce was about to say.

"I've been thinking a lot about trust," Bruce began, his voice steady but solemn. "About what it means to build trust with the people we protect. I've seen how Ivy and Freeze are making the most of the chances we've given them. It's inspired me to take a step I've been avoiding for a long time."

Selina crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing slightly. "What are you getting at, Bruce?"

Bruce took a deep breath, his gaze moving between Selina, Barbara, and Tim. "I've decided to go public with my identity."

The statement hung in the air, heavy with unspoken implications. Barbara's eyes widened in surprise, while Tim's brow furrowed in concern.

"Bruce, are you sure about this?" Tim asked cautiously. "Once you do this, there's no going back."

Bruce nodded. "I'm sure. Trust requires a form of faith, on both sides. We can't build true trust when we keep this deception from the public. I need them to trust me, and in return, I need to trust them."

Selina's skepticism was evident, but she knew Bruce well enough to understand the depth of his conviction. "You've thought this through," she said, more a statement than a question.

"I have," Bruce confirmed. "It's a necessary step if we're going to build a stronger, more open relationship with the people of Gotham and beyond. It's not just about me. It's about showing them that we stand with them, not above them."

Barbara nodded slowly, her analytical mind processing the potential outcomes. "It's risky, but it could also bring a lot of good. People need heroes they can relate to, not just symbols."

Tim sighed, recognizing the inevitability of Bruce's decision. "If you're going to do this, we'll support you. We're with you, Bruce, every step of the way."

Bruce felt a profound sense of gratitude for the unwavering support of his family. "Thank you. This is a leap of faith for all of us, but I believe it's the right thing to do."

As they continued to discuss the logistics and potential ramifications of the announcement, Bruce couldn't help but feel a sense of resolve. The path ahead was uncertain, but for the first time in a long while, he felt a clarity of purpose. Trust, after all, was a two-way street, and he was ready to take that leap.

The next day, Bruce Wayne stood before the press, the world watching as he prepared to reveal his deepest secret. The journey ahead would be challenging, but with his family by his side and a newfound faith in the people he vowed to protect.

The press conference was held in the grand atrium of Wayne Tower, a fitting stage for the monumental announcement. Reporters and journalists filled the room, their murmurs creating a low buzz of anticipation. Gotham's citizens watched anxiously from their homes, knowing that this event would change the city forever.

Bruce Wayne, in his full Batman attire, stepped up to the podium. His presence commanded the room, and the murmurings of the crowd quickly fell silent. Commissioner Gordon stood nearby, giving Bruce a reassuring nod, a silent message of support.

Bruce took a deep breath, his voice steady as he began his speech. "For years, I have fought to protect Gotham from the shadows. I have stood against the darkness that threatens our city, and I have done so with one purpose: to ensure the safety and well-being of its people."

The room was silent, every eye fixed on Batman. Bruce continued, his tone measured and sincere. "But trust is a two-way street. It requires not only that you believe in me, but that I also believe in you. Trust requires transparency, and it requires faith."

He paused, reaching up to his cowl. The motion drew the collective attention of the reporters, their murmurs growing louder as they realized what was about to happen. They watched more intently, the anticipation as they started to realize that he was actually going to do it.

"And so," Bruce said, his hand on the edge of the cowl, "it is time for me to take a step forward in that trust."

With a deliberate motion, Bruce pulled off his cowl, revealing his face to the world. Gasps echoed through the atrium, and the reporters' mutterings turned into a chorus of shock and disbelief.

Bruce looked out at the sea of faces, his expression calm

. "Trust requires that I, Bruce Wayne, the Batman, trust you... as you have trusted me."

The room erupted into a flurry of questions and flashing cameras, but Bruce remained composed. Commissioner Gordon stepped forward, raising a hand to calm the crowd. "Ladies and gentlemen, please. We will take questions in an orderly fashion."

As the reporters settled down, Bruce took a moment to let the weight of his decision sink in. He had laid bare his greatest secret, bridging the gap between the symbol of Batman and the man beneath the mask.

The first reporter to speak, a woman with a determined expression, asked, "Mr. Wayne, what prompted you to reveal your identity now?"

Bruce met her gaze, his voice unwavering. "It was time. Time for Gotham to know the truth. Time for us to build a stronger, more transparent relationship. I believe in the people of this city, and I trust that we are stronger than apart."

Another reporter, his voice filled with curiosity, inquired, "How do you think this will impact your work as Batman?"

Bruce considered his response carefully. "It will undoubtedly change things, but I believe it will be for the better. By standing before you as both Bruce Wayne and Batman, I hope to show that we are all in this together. That the fight against crime and injustice is not just the responsibility of one man, but of all of us."

Commissioner Gordon stepped in again, guiding the press conference with a steady hand. "Let's remember that this is about trust and moving forward together. Gotham has always been resilient, and this is just another step in our journey."

Amanda Waller sat in her office, the room dimly lit by the glow of her computer screens. She was reviewing reports and sipping her morning coffee, her usual stern expression firmly in place. The news played softly in the background, a constant stream of information that she absorbed without much thought.

Suddenly, the anchor's voice caught her attention. "Breaking news from Gotham City. Bruce Wayne, the billionaire philanthropist, has just revealed himself to be Batman."

Waller's eyes snapped to the screen, her hand frozen mid-air with the coffee cup poised near her lips. The broadcast cut to live footage of Bruce Wayne, standing at a podium, holding his Batman cowl in his hand. The reporters around him buzzed with excitement and shock.

As Bruce began his speech, Waller's grip tightened on the cup. "Trust requires that I, Bruce Wayne, the Batman, trust you... as you have trusted me."

In her shock, Waller accidentally inhaled her coffee, nearly spitting it out. She coughed violently, the hot liquid burning her throat. Her usually composed demeanor shattered by the unexpected revelation. She set the cup down, coughing and wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.

"Unbelievable," she muttered between coughs, her eyes fixed on the screen. She watched as Bruce Wayne answered questions, his calm and confident manner unwavering.

Waller quickly grabbed her remote and increased the volume, needing to hear every word. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Batman, the elusive vigilante, had just revealed his identity to the entire world. It was a move she never anticipated, one that threw countless strategies and plans into disarray.

Her mind raced with the implications. This revelation would send shockwaves through the superhero community, the criminal underworld, and every organization that had dealings with the Dark Knight. It was a game-changer, and Waller knew she had to adjust her plans accordingly.

As if on cue, her phone began to flood with calls and texts, one after the other. She glanced at the screen—calls from high-level contacts, texts from her operatives, and urgent messages from her allies.

Waller picked up the phone and started addressing the incoming barrage of communications. Her voice was sharp and commanding as she answered each call, swiftly moving from one conversation to the next.

"Yes, I saw it. We need to convene immediately," she said to one contact, her tone leaving no room for argument.

She knew that Bruce Wayne's public declaration could be used as leverage. There were rumors that Wayne had been praying to that mysterious entity, the Almighty, as he claimed. If she could listen in, if she could catch that supposed Almighty off guard, it would make her plans all the easier.

Waller's mind flashed to the recent reports she had received about the modified orc armies that were akin to cyborgs. One had been taken out by a supposed angel just tilting his head. Another had been obliterated by some kind of flaming sword that moved faster than lightning, slicing the army into dust within less than a second. And the third one… turned into piles of salt and dirt, breaking down into their raw elements.

She scoffed at those feats, unimpressed. She had seen more impressive things before. But she recognized the potential power in understanding and possibly exploiting this Almighty.

Returning to her phone, she started setting up a meeting with her key contacts. "Dr. Ivo, I need you at HQ by tomorrow morning. We have a situation," she said, her voice crisp and urgent.

Next, she called Lex Luthor. "Lex, I assume you saw the news. We need to discuss our next steps. Can you meet this evening?"

Finally, she contacted Ra's al Ghul. She knew he would be seeking confirmation of the events. "Ra's, I trust you have seen Bruce Wayne's revelation. We need to convene. There are... implications that need addressing."

Ra's al Ghul's voice came through the phone, cool and calculating. "I have seen it, Amanda. This changes many things. I will be there."

Satisfied that her key contacts were informed, Waller leaned back in her chair, her mind already strategizing the next moves. This development with Bruce Wayne had opened a new path, one that she intended to navigate with precision and control. The game had changed, and she was determined to come out on top.

The meeting was held in a secure, undisclosed location. Amanda Waller ensured that all necessary precautions were taken to guarantee privacy and security. The room was dimly lit, with a large, round table in the center. Seated around it were some of the most formidable minds in the world: Dr. Ivo, Lex Luthor, Ra's al Ghul, and Amanda Waller. Beside Waller stood her new ally, the ringwraith, its presence dark and unsettling.

The ringwraith, with its nanotech ring of power gleaming on its jagged gauntlet-like hand, stared eerily at the others. Its dark, hollow gaze seemed to pierce through the dim light, sending shivers down the spines of even these seasoned manipulators.

Waller broke the silence, her voice authoritative. "Thank you all for coming on such short notice. As you are aware, Bruce Wayne has revealed himself to be Batman. This is an unprecedented move, and it presents both challenges and opportunities."

Lex Luthor leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Wayne's decision to go public is indeed bold. It disrupts the delicate balance we've maintained. But it also exposes his vulnerabilities."

Dr. Ivo, ever the scientist, adjusted his glasses and nodded. "The psychological impact on both the public and the criminal element will be significant. We need to analyze the potential fallout and how it can be leveraged."

Ra's al Ghul, his expression calm but intense, leaned forward. "This revelation does change things. The world now knows the man behind the mask. It introduces a level of unpredictability. What concerns me is how this affects the larger balance."

Amanda Waller nodded, acknowledging their points. "We need to adapt our strategies. But we also need to consider another factor. It's rumored that Bruce Wayne has been praying to a mysterious entity—an Almighty. If we can gather intelligence on this being, it could shift the balance further in our favor."

The ringwraith, silent until now, spoke in a low, rasping voice. "This Almighty... He allows free will. Yet, He holds everyone accountable for their choices. I have seen His power. He turned armies into dust and salt. But He allows humans to make their own choices. We can use this..."

The room fell silent as the weight of the ringwraith's words settled over them. Amanda Waller glanced around the table, gauging the reactions of her allies.

Lex Luthor, ever the pragmatist, was the first to respond. "If this entity exists and Wayne is in contact with it, we need to find a way to monitor those interactions. It could give us valuable insights and perhaps a means to manipulate events in our favor."

Dr. Ivo nodded. "Agreed. We should develop technology to intercept and analyze any communication between Wayne and this Almighty."

Ra's al Ghul's eyes gleamed with interest. "We must tread carefully. This Almighty, if He is as powerful as suggested, could pose a significant threat. But knowledge is power. If we understand Him, we can find ways to counteract His influence."

Amanda Waller leaned forward, her gaze intense. "Then it's settled. We will use all our resources to gather information on this Almighty. We will intercept communications, analyze data, and find any weaknesses we can exploit."

The ringwraith, sensing the resolve in the room, added, "And remember, this Almighty allows humans to make their own choices. We must be cautious, but we can push the boundaries. If we succeed, we could turn His own principles against Him."

Waller stood up, signaling the end of the meeting. "We have our plan. Let's move forward with precision and care. This is a pivotal moment, and we must seize it."

As the group began to disperse, Lex Luthor approached the ringwraith, his curiosity piqued. "Your insights are... intriguing. We may need to discuss this Almighty further."

The ringwraith's eyes glowed faintly, a sign of its malevolent satisfaction. "Indeed, Lex Luthor. There is much to discuss."

As Amanda Waller, Lex Luthor, Dr. Ivo, Ra's al Ghul, and the ringwraith discussed their strategies, a chilling voice suddenly echoed from a nearby shadow on the wall.

"Yeeeeeeeessssssssss, thatssssss ittttttt, scheeeeemmmmmmm sssssssss," the voice hissed, sending a shiver down their spines.

From the darkness, a single, red-scaled, horned, rattling snake-like creature slithered out on its belly. The creature seemed to drain the light from the room, its presence a black hole of malevolence. The most disturbing part was its clawed legs, yet it crawled and slithered on the ground anyway, pulling its sinister body forward with eerie grace.

Amanda Waller and her allies found themselves unable to move. Paralyzed, their eyes widened in terror. Then, the migraines hit them—splitting headaches that left even the ringwraith struggling to stand on wobbly legs. Professor Ivo fought against the urge to vomit, his gag reflex nearly overpowering him.

In his agony, Ivo recognized the creature. "Lucifer... the serpent," he whispered, barely able to speak.

The serpent left a slimy residue, like black filth, on the floor as it slithered closer. Its eyes glowed with a malevolent light, and when it spoke, thousands of distorted voices echoed at once.

"Amanda Waller... Lex Luthor... Dr. Ivo... Ra's al Ghul... Nazgûl," the serpent addressed each of them by name, taking immense pleasure in their fear and discomfort.

"Yessssss, I am Lucifer, the serpent, and I have a one-time bargain for you," it continued, its voice dripping with dark satisfaction. "I have power over this earth to sow chaos. I know the right buttons to push in the populace, and I can summon wonders beyond your imagination. As long as... you accept my offer."

The serpent's eyes gleamed with twisted delight as it observed their reactions. "I cannot force you to accept... nor can I intervene without your consent. The choice is yours."

The room was filled with the oppressive weight of the serpent's presence. Amanda Waller, her mind racing despite the pain, tried to assess the situation. This was a being of immense power, offering them a deal that could change everything. But at what cost?

Lex Luthor, always the strategist, considered the serpent's offer carefully. The potential benefits were vast, but the risks were equally great. He knew that making a deal with Lucifer could lead to unimaginable consequences.

Dr. Ivo, still fighting his nausea, realized the implications of such an alliance. The power Lucifer promised could advance his research and projects beyond his wildest dreams, but the price of accepting such a bargain weighed heavily on his mind.

Ra's al Ghul, ever the tactician, saw the opportunity to further his goals of restoring balance and order to the world. Yet he also understood the peril of aligning with such a malevolent force.

The ringwraith, though in immense pain, felt a dark curiosity. It had served Sauron and knew the taste of power and corruption. This offer intrigued it, though it knew the dangers of dealing with the serpent.

Lucifer watched them, relishing their internal struggles. "Yessssss, consider my offer carefully. The power to shape this world is within your grasp. All it requires... is your acceptance."

The silence in the room was deafening as each of them weighed the serpent's offer, knowing that whatever choice they made would have far-reaching consequences. The serpent, sensing their indecision, continued to revel in the moment, its presence a constant reminder of the darkness that lurked just beneath the surface of their ambitions.

Ra's al Ghul, his voice steady despite the situation, asked, "What do you want in return?"

The serpent turned its slitted eyes toward him and flicked its forked tongue. "A wager, if you will. If you succeed, then you will gain power indefinitely. Consider it a parting token, a mere drop of my true potential. Think about it: nations who will bend to your will, whole continents, the stars and all their worlds bowing to you. But if you fail, I'll take it all back."

The serpent's eyes gleamed with dark amusement. "The reason for this whole deal is merely for my amusement. But remember, I cannot force you to accept. You need to do it of your own free will."

Lex Luthor, skeptical and calculating, asked, "How do we know you can grant such power?"

The serpent grinned, showing his sharp fangs. Without a word, he slithered over to the wall where Darkseid was stuck inside it, making them all stagger backward as he coiled around the trapped god. The serpent began to squeeze, and Darkseid's muffled screams filled the room.

"CRACK! POP! SNAP!" The sounds of bones breaking echoed through the room as the serpent squeezed until Darkseid's head nearly popped off. The serpent loosened its grip, and Darkseid's body hung limply.

"You may keep this would-be god's body... if you prefer," the serpent hissed, the amusement in its voice unmistakable.

The room was silent as the implications of the serpent's display sank in. Amanda Waller, Lex Luthor, Dr. Ivo, Ra's al Ghul, and the ringwraith were faced with a choice that could change the course of their lives—and the world—forever. Each of them knew that the decision they made would have far-reaching consequences, but the power the serpent offered was too tantalizing to ignore.

As they weighed their options, the serpent watched with gleaming eyes, relishing their internal struggles and the chaos that would inevitably follow.

The room was thick with tension and the lingering smell of sulfur. Amanda Waller, Lex Luthor, Dr. Ivo, and the ringwraith had all made their decision. Each of them had accepted the serpent's offer, the allure of unimaginable power outweighing the evident risks. Only Ra's al Ghul remained hesitant, his mind wrestling with the implications of such a deal.

The serpent's eyes, glinting with malice and satisfaction, turned to Ra's al Ghul. "And you, Ra's? Why do you refuse? If you don't mind me asking?"

Ra's al Ghul, now on his knees, looked up with a pained expression. "It just... doesn't feel right," he said, before doubling over and vomiting onto the floor.

The serpent, Lucifer, seemed to accept this response, nodding slightly. "Very well," he hissed, turning his attention back to the others.

Amanda, Lex, Ivo, and the ringwraith each felt a sudden, searing pain on their arms. They watched in shock as a jagged mark, resembling a serpent's fang, burned bright red into their flesh. Even the ringwraith, through his gauntlet, could see the glowing mark forming.

"These marks," the serpent said, his voice filled with dark satisfaction, "will grant you your desires, your whole worlds, depending on what you seek. But remember, there is one thing that can repel these marks: the light of the Almighty. So, it's best if you don't take His name in vain or mouth off at Him. Also, try not to openly challenge Him more than two or three times. As long as you avoid these things, He will allow you to make your own choices."

Lucifer turned his eyes upward, addressing the unseen presence he seemed to sense. "Isn't that right, Lord?"

A rumble filled the room, and a voice echoed from everywhere and nowhere, resonating with a power that made even the serpent seem small. "Lucifer... deceiver of souls... remember that I hold the keys to death and Hades, and this universe, with all its afterlives, is only temporary... just as your realm is. Before you are cast into the fire, from which you will be bound..."

The serpent hissed, a sound filled with defiance and bitterness. "We shall see, my former master... we shall see."

The presence receded, and the room fell silent once more, the oppressive weight lifting slightly. The serpent turned back to Amanda, Lex, Ivo, and the ringwraith, his eyes gleaming with dark promise.

"You have made your choices. Now, go forth and claim your worlds. Remember the terms of our bargain, and do not forget the power that now lies within your grasp."

With that, the serpent began to slither back into the shadows, leaving a trail of black filth in his wake. The room was left in a state of eerie quiet, the only sound the faint, labored breathing of Ra's al Ghul as he recovered from his ordeal.

Amanda Waller, her mind already racing with the possibilities, looked at her marked arm and then at her allies. "We have our power. Now, let's use it wisely."

Lex Luthor, always the strategist, nodded. "Agreed. We need to plan our next moves carefully. This power is both a gift and a curse."

Dr. Ivo, still reeling from the experience, managed a weak smile. "With this, we can achieve things beyond our wildest dreams."

The ringwraith, feeling the mark's power thrumming through his being, simply nodded, his thoughts hidden behind his dark, hooded visage.

Ra's al Ghul, still kneeling on the floor, watched them with a mixture of relief and regret. He had chosen not to accept the serpent's offer, but he knew that the consequences of his allies' decisions would affect him as well.

Almost immediately after the serpent's departure, the results of the pact began to manifest. The marks on their arms burned briefly, a reminder of the dark power they had just accepted.

Lex Luthor's phone buzzed incessantly. He glanced at the screen and saw a flurry of notifications. His company's stocks had skyrocketed, the value climbing at an unprecedented rate. Investors were pouring money into LexCorp, driven by sudden, inexplicable confidence in its future.

He quickly accessed his company's internal communications. Messages flooded in from his top scientists and research teams, each one reporting groundbreaking advancements. "We've successfully harnessed solar radiation to supercharge human cells!" one message read. "Our nanotechnology division has achieved a major breakthrough—self-repairing materials!" another exclaimed.

Lex's lips curled into a satisfied smile. The power the serpent promised was already reshaping his empire.

Dr. Ivo's phone rang and buzzed with equal intensity. His research contacts were ecstatic, reporting breakthroughs that had previously been considered impossible. "Ivo, you won't believe it! We've cracked the code for integrating AI with organic matter. The implications are staggering!" one scientist reported.

Another message read, "Our work with nanobots has reached a new pinnacle. They can now precisely target and repair damaged cells, essentially curing diseases at a cellular level!"

Ivo's initial nausea was replaced by a rush of excitement. The possibilities were endless, and his mind raced with new ideas and applications.

Amanda Waller's phone was overwhelmed with responses. Her contacts, who had previously been hesitant or unresponsive, were now eagerly agreeing to her proposals. Offers of alliance, cooperation, and support poured in from every corner of her extensive network.

"Waller, count us in. Whatever you need, we're on board," read one message. "Your initiative has our full backing," said another.

Waller's stern expression softened for a moment, replaced by a rare look of satisfaction. The power to shape events from behind the scenes was now firmly in her grasp.

The ringwraith felt an immediate surge of power. The mark on its gauntlet glowed with a malevolent light, filling it with more energy than it had ever known. Its senses were heightened, its strength amplified. The dark magic it wielded was now more potent, more deadly.

The ringwraith flexed its clawed hand, feeling the power coursing through its veins. It was a sensation it had longed for, a return to the days of unrivaled strength and dominion. This power was intoxicating, and it reveled in the possibilities.

As the immediate effects of the serpent's gift became clear, the group reconvened, their expressions a mix of awe and determination.

Lex Luthor was the first to speak. "It's happening. My company is surging, and our technological advancements are off the charts."

Dr. Ivo nodded, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "The breakthroughs we've made in just these few minutes… it's incredible."

Amanda Waller, her phone still buzzing with incoming messages, looked around the room. "We have the power we need. Now we need to strategize and use it wisely."

The ringwraith, standing taller and more imposing than ever, simply said through an eerie hiss, "We are unstoppable."

As they began to plan their next moves, the serpent's final words echoed in their minds. "Remember, there is one thing that can repel these marks: the light of the Almighty. Do not take His name in vain or challenge Him openly more than two or three times. As long as you avoid these things, He will allow you to make your own choices."

Ra's al Ghul, still reeling from his encounter with Lucifer, returned to his secluded hideout, nestled deep within a mountain range. The journey back had been a time of reflection, his mind grappling with the weight of the decisions made in that dark room. He had refused the serpent's offer, trusting his instincts that something was profoundly wrong with the bargain.

As he arrived at his hideout, his loyal followers greeted him with urgent expressions. One of his top lieutenants, Ubu, approached quickly. "Master, there is something you need to see immediately."

Ra's al Ghul's eyes narrowed. "What is it, Ubu?"

"It's the Lazarus Pits, Master. They're... they're burning up."

Ra's al Ghul's heart skipped a beat. The Lazarus Pits were the source of his immortality and power. If they were compromised, it could mean disaster not only for him but for his entire organization. He quickly followed Ubu to the chamber housing the nearest Lazarus Pit.

As they approached, the heat became palpable, an unnatural and oppressive warmth that seemed to scorch the very air. The chamber, usually filled with the soothing green glow of the Lazarus Pit, was now ablaze with flickering, angry red flames.

Ra's al Ghul stared in horror at the sight before him. The once vibrant, life-giving waters of the Lazarus Pit were now a bubbling, boiling cauldron of fire. The green liquid that had rejuvenated him countless times was consumed by flames, sending plumes of acrid smoke into the air.

"How did this happen?" Ra's al Ghul demanded, his voice a mix of rage and desperation.

Ubu shook his head, equally bewildered. "We don't know, Master. It started shortly after you left. We've tried everything to extinguish the flames, but nothing works."

Ra's al Ghul stepped closer to the edge of the pit, feeling the intense heat against his skin. The sight was both mesmerizing and terrifying. He knew that this was no ordinary fire. It was a supernatural destruction, likely linked to the events he had just experienced.

His mind raced through the implications. Without the Lazarus Pits, his ability to heal and resurrect would be severely limited. His centuries-long quest to bring balance to the world could be in jeopardy. He realized that his refusal of Lucifer's offer might have had unforeseen consequences.

As he stood there, contemplating the loss, a chilling thought crossed his mind. Perhaps this was a warning, a message from the dark forces he had encountered. The serpent's offer was not just a simple deal—it was a turning point, and his refusal might have invoked a curse or retribution.

Ra's al Ghul turned to Ubu. "Gather our forces. We must find a way to restore the Pits. Search every corner of our knowledge and resources. We cannot let this setback destroy us."

Ubu nodded and quickly relayed the orders to the rest of the League of Shadows. Ra's al Ghul remained by the burning pit, his expression deathly serious despite the turmoil within.

The League of Shadows had tried everything. Buckets of water, mystical incantations, and even advanced technology—nothing could quell the supernatural flames consuming the Lazarus Pits. Every attempt was met with catastrophic results.

One of the League's mystics, a seasoned sorcerer, approached the pit, chanting an ancient spell. As he finished the incantation, a surge of energy from the flames enveloped him. His body began to melt, his flesh liquefying in a grotesque display, yet he survived in that state for a full minute, screaming in agony before finally succumbing.

Ra's al Ghul and Talia watched in horror. Despite their efforts, the flames continued to burn until there was nothing left. By the time the fire extinguished itself, the Lazarus Pits were gone, leaving only scorched earth where the rejuvenating waters once flowed.

As Ra's al Ghul stood over the desolate remnants, a chilling hiss mixed with mocking laughter filled the chamber. "You should have taken my deal," the serpent's voice echoed gleefully.

Suddenly, Ra's al Ghul felt an invisible force lift him off the ground and slam him into the ceiling. He crashed back down with a bone-jarring thud, only to be thrown against the stone walls like a rag doll.

"Of course, I can't have you opposing me in the future with your free will," the serpent taunted as Ra's was pinned to the wall, his body battered and broken. Talia and the guards watched in panic, unable to intervene.

"You really thought that I would come to their aid if they provoked the Almighty?" Lucifer's voice dripped with malice. "You let me into your house, and now... I think a possession is in order to remind you who's in charge."

Ra's al Ghul, pinned against the wall, felt a horrifying realization. This was no mere demon. This was Lucifer, evil incarnate, with absolutely no redeeming qualities. The serpent's true nature was laid bare before him—pure malevolence with a thirst for chaos and domination.

With a final, agonizing slam, Ra's al Ghul was released, falling to the ground and gasping for breath. He looked up to see Talia attacking the guards, her eyes glowing a hellish yellow-red, possessed by the serpent's influence. She snarled and moved with feral aggression, tearing through the ranks of the League with unnatural strength and speed.

"Talia, no!" Ra's tried to call out, but his voice was weak. He could see the malevolent delight in her eyes, the serpent's presence now fully inhabiting her body.

Lucifer's voice emanated from Talia, mocking and triumphant. "You see, Ra's, you were always destined to serve. You just needed a little... reminder."

Ra's al Ghul struggled to rise, the pain coursing through his body. He realized that his defiance had led to this moment. His association with his allies at that meeting, brought this evil back with him! And now his daughter was paying the price, and now, he had to face the consequences!

As Talia continued her rampage, Ra's al Ghul knew he had to find a way to save her and reclaim his legacy. But for now, he was helpless, left to witness the destruction wrought by the very evil he had underestimated.

Two hours had passed since the horrific incident began. Talia al Ghul was bound to a chair with the thickest chains the League of Shadows could find. Despite their efforts, the chains were already starting to bend under her possessed strength. Ra's al Ghul knew that if the serpent truly wanted to escape, there was nothing they could do to stop it.

Desperation led Ra's to contact the Justice League and Bruce Wayne. For the first time, he felt truly helpless, unsure of how to protect his daughter and stop the malevolent force within her.

The Justice League arrived swiftly. Bruce Wayne, in his Batman attire, led the group, accompanied by Superman, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Doctor Fate, and John Constantine. They entered the dimly lit chamber, their expressions a mix of concern and determination.

Bruce immediately approached Ra's al Ghul. "Ra's, what happened here?"

Ra's, his face etched with worry and exhaustion, began to explain. "It started during a meeting with Amanda Waller, Lex Luthor, Dr. Ivo, and the ringwraith. We were discussing strategies when a creature, Lucifer, the serpent, appeared. It offered us immense power in exchange for our souls. I refused, but the others accepted. Soon after, my Lazarus Pits were consumed by supernatural flames, and Talia became possessed."

The revelation hit them hard. Wonder Woman's eyes widened in disbelief. "Amanda Waller, Lex Luthor, Dr. Ivo, and the ringwraith sold their souls for power?"

Ra's nodded. "Yes. And now, Talia is suffering because of it."

Damian Wayne was also present, desperately trying to reach his mother. He stood before her, pleading, "Mother, please! Fight it!"

But the serpent, through Talia, merely grinned wickedly. With a sickening lurch, Talia vomited a dark, foul substance onto Damian, causing him to recoil in horror and disgust.

Constantine stepped forward, assessing the situation with his experienced eye. "This is no ordinary possession. We're dealing with the big bad himself. Lucifer's got his claws deep in her."

Doctor Fate examined her for a minute and felt a chill with how the serpent was starring at him. It's like it was relishing in this evil it was causing.

"We need to act quickly. The longer we wait, the stronger his hold becomes."

Zatanna began preparing a containment spell, her hands moving gracefully as she chanted. "We have to isolate the serpent's influence before we can expel it."

"We'll save her, Damian. I promise."

Batman turned to Ra's, his voice steady. "You did the right thing by calling us. No matter what, we'll save her."

The Justice League had gathered, each member ready to do their part. Talia al Ghul was bound to a chair with the thickest chains the League of Shadows could find, but they were already starting to bend under her possessed strength. The chains creaked ominously, and Ra's al Ghul could sense that if the serpent wanted to escape, there was little they could do to stop it.

Zatanna stepped forward, her eyes filled with determination. She began to chant a containment spell, her voice clear and resonant. "Odluoc siht kram fo lufrewop!"

The serpent, speaking through Talia, sneered. "Odluoc siht kram fo lufrewop," it repeated mockingly, mimicking her exact intonation.

Zatanna faltered, momentarily thrown off by the serpent's mocking tone. She took a deep breath and continued. "Siht ygrene llahs eb degnahc ot doog!"

Again, the serpent echoed her words perfectly, its voice dripping with mockery. "Siht ygrene llahs eb degnahc ot doog."

Zatanna's confidence wavered as she tried another incantation. "Erif siht tsuom kcab ot latrom enots!"

The serpent chuckled, finishing the chant for her. "Erif siht tsuom kcab ot latrom enots."

"You can save your breath," the serpent hissed, a twisted grin spreading across Talia's face. "You see, magic in the original universe came from spirits under my liege, or demons if you will. What does that say about your magic when this reality splintered off from the original core of all existence?"

Zatanna's frustration grew as she realized the serpent was not only mocking her but actively disrupting her focus. The mocking laughter and perfectly mimicked chants were unnerving, making her question the efficacy of her own magic.

"You can't intimidate me," Zatanna snapped, trying to regain her composure. "We will drive you out."

The serpent's laughter grew louder. "Intimidate you? No, my dear, I'm simply enjoying the irony. Your magic, derived from the very forces I command, being used against me. It's laughable."

Zatanna glanced at the others for support. Doctor Fate stepped forward, his golden helm glinting in the dim light. "Zatanna, focus. We must work together."

"Zatanna, focus. We must work together."

The serpent's eyes gleamed as it turned its attention to Doctor Fate. "Oh, Doctor Fate... or should I say Nabu. Your symbol is an ankh, correct? An ancient Egyptian symbol... yet another mockery of the one true cross upon which my adversary was nailed to and bled upon to purchase the souls of mortals from their sins. Can your so-called gods say the same?"

The room felt colder as the serpent's words hung in the air. Doctor Fate's resolve hardened. "Enough of your blasphemy. We will expel you."

Doctor Fate raised his hands and began his own incantation, his voice resonating with power. But as he chanted, the serpent's eyes locked onto him.

"Bang," the serpent said nonchalantly.

A force blasted Doctor Fate backward, sending him crashing into the wall. He struggled to remove his helmet, feeling it constrict around his head. With great effort, he managed to pull it off, but not without the sharp edge scratching his scalp and drawing blood.

Wonder Woman stepped forward, anger and desperation etched on her face. "I will not let you continue this."

The serpent's grin widened. As Wonder Woman approached, he flooded her mind with horrific images of her bastard family members being killed because they were male. The mental assault was overwhelming, but she fought through it.

Diana, in a desperate bid to end the possession, brandished her Lasso of Truth. She threw the glowing, golden rope around Talia, hoping to compel the serpent to speak the truth and relinquish its hold.

"By the power of the Lasso of Truth, I command you to speak! Leave her!" Wonder Woman demanded, her voice resolute.

The serpent's eyes glinted with amusement. Through Talia, it spoke, "Lying is not my native tongue..." The serpent's mocking tone and the very statement were a blatant contradiction, a lie meant to show its immunity to the Lasso's power.

Wonder Woman's eyes widened in shock. "No... that's not possible."

The serpent's laughter echoed around the room. "Your pathetic artifacts hold no power over me, Amazon. The truth is, my influence runs deeper than any of your magical trinkets."

Batman, seeing Wonder Woman's distress, stepped in. "We need to find another way."

Superman stood beside Batman, his eyes glowing red. "Let me try."

Superman approached cautiously, using his X-ray vision to scan Talia's body, hoping to find any trace of the serpent's essence that he could target. However, he was met with an impenetrable darkness that seemed to absorb his vision.

"It's no use," Superman said, frustration evident in his voice. "I can't see anything."

"It's no use," Superman said, frustration evident in his voice. "I can't see anything."

The serpent's gaze shifted to Superman. "Clark Joseph Kent... do you ever wonder what a broken pair of legs feels like?"

Instantly, there was a SNAP! Superman screamed in pain and fell to the ground, clutching his legs. The room filled with gasps and horror as the Man of Steel was brought low by a mere thought.

John Constantine, flicking the ashes of his cigarette, stepped forward having watched with growing horror at the shear resistance this slithering creature was showing, and decided it was time to bring out the big guns, with grim determination he pulled up his sleeves. "Alright, you bastard! Let's see how you handle this level of power!"

Constantine began chanting in a language older than time, invoking ancient powers. The air around Talia crackled with energy as he tried to exorcise the serpent. But as the chant reached its peak, the serpent's eyes flashed as the serpent yawned through Talia, almost like it was bored.

"Tell me, Constantine," the serpent sneered, "do you want to see the Lucifer of this world, my cheap knockoff before I show you my next trick and my earthly influence?"

In an instant, their world's Lucifer was transported there in that very room from his nightclub somewhere in Las Angelis, standing in the middle of the chaos, looking confused and disoriented. The celestial being scanned the room, his eyes narrowing at the sight of Talia.

"You….? What are you-?

The serpent scowled at the fallen angelic figure from this universe like he tasted something he didn't like and wanted to spit out. "I'm so disappointed in this cheap knockoff... now blow up!" He uttered.

BOOM!

The explosion was instantaneous and horrific. Their world's Lucifer, an angelic figure, exploded into a shower of red gore that showered all over those closest to him. The room was splattered with blood and remnants of the divine being, the sight burning into their memories forever.

Constantine staggered back, his face pale. "No... what have you done?! How did you do that?!"

The serpent's laughter filled the room, more sinister and mocking than ever. "I warned you, didn't I? Nothing you do will work."

Batman, seeing the devastation, knew they were running out of options. "We have to find another way. There must be something. We need a new angle!"

Wonder Woman, trembling with rage and desperation, looked around at her comrades, each of them shaken by the brutality they had just witnessed. "We can't let this end here. There has to be a way to save Talia."

But as they looked upon the possessed woman, bound in chains that were already starting to bend to the point where a full grown hand could slip through as the possessed Talia hummed in satisfaction, and heard the mocking laughter of the serpent, a deep sense of dread settled over them. The darkness they faced was unlike anything they had encountered before, and the true extent of its power was far beyond any of them.

The room was filled with chaos and despair. Superman lay on the ground, clutching his broken legs. The gruesome remains of their world's Lucifer were scattered around partially on doctor fate and zatanna, and the Justice League members were shaken by the brutal display of power.

During this despair and growing terror, Damian Wayne was on the brink of a full-blown panic attack. His breathing was erratic, his eyes wide with fear and desperation realizing how easy they've had it all these years with the cheap knockoffs of true demons that they know compared to this horror before them, That was it! They needed help from outside! He needed help from a source he never thought he would call upon! He bolted from the room, searching for something, anything, that could help. He returned moments later with a Bible in his trembling hands.

Kneeling by his mother, he began to read aloud, his voice trembling but growing stronger with each word. "But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you."

The serpent, speaking through Talia, slowly frowned, its mocking grin fading. "Stop that..."

Damian continued, his voice gaining confidence. "To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back."

"Stop!" the serpent hissed, its voice growing more agitated.

"And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them."

The serpent's eyes flashed with anger. "I said shut the fuck up or I'm going to rip your throat out!"

Damian's voice wavered but he pressed on, tears streaming down his face. "But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful."

Talia's body convulsed violently, and the serpent's grip on her seemed to weaken. "NO! Stop reading those words!"

Damian continued, his voice now filled with a desperate hope. "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you."

The serpent let out a furious roar, Talia's body thrashing against the chains. "You insolent little brat! I will tear you apart!"

But Damian did not stop. "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

The room was thick with tension and fear as Damian read the final verses. Suddenly, with a deafening scream, the serpent was expelled from Talia's body. It shot out of her like a missile, a dark, twisted form that crashed into the shadows on the wall, disappearing with a final, sinister hiss.

The Justice League stood frozen in shock, the sight of such raw, malevolent power being forcefully removed was both terrifying and awe-inspiring. The room felt significantly lighter, the oppressive darkness lifting, but the memory of what had transpired lingered heavily.

Talia's body went limp, and she slumped forward, barely conscious. The chains that had bound her hung loosely, now redundant without the serpent's strength to test them. For a moment, no one dared to move, the horror of the ordeal rendering them momentarily paralyzed.

It was Bruce who broke the spell. Without hesitation, he rushed to Talia's side, Damian already kneeling beside her. Bruce checked her pulse, his face a mask of concern and relief when he found it.

"She's alive," he said, his voice filled with a mixture of relief and determination. "Barely conscious, but alive."

Damian, still clutching the Bible, looked at his mother with tears in his eyes. "Mother... it's over. You're safe now."

Wonder Woman and Superman exchanged glances, the weight of the situation evident in their expressions. Slowly, the other members of the Justice League gathered around, their faces etched with concern and lingering fear. The sight of Talia, so vulnerable and fragile after the ordeal, was a stark reminder of the battle they had just fought.

Doctor Fate, still recovering from the serpent's assault, approached cautiously. "We need to get her to a safe place. She needs to rest and recover."

Zatanna, still had a pale complexion to her face, nodded. "We should also ensure the serpent can't return. There must be wards and protections we can put in place."

John Constantine, ever pragmatic, lit another cigarette with shaking hands. "I've got a few tricks up my sleeve that might help. But for now, let's focus on getting her stable."

Bruce carefully lifted Talia, his powerful arms gentle as he carried her out of the chamber followed closely by Ras al Ghul. Damian walked beside him, never letting her out of their sight. The rest of the Justice League followed, their minds already planning the next steps to ensure such a horror could never happen again.

Outside the dark chamber, the team regrouped, ensuring Talia was stable. Bruce laid her down carefully, checking her pulse once more to ensure she was alright. Talia was barely conscious but alive, her breathing shallow yet steady.

Bruce then walked over to where Ra's al Ghul and John Constantine had collapsed, catching their breath. The three of them sat down, exhausted from the harrowing experience.

Bruce looked at Constantine, his eyes filled with the questions racing through his mind. "You ever seen anything like that, John?"

Constantine, struggling to light another cigarette, finally managed to get it going. He took a long drag, his hands shaking slightly. "Hell no," he said, exhaling a cloud of smoke. He glanced over at Ra's. "What about you, Ra's...?"

Ra's al Ghul's usually composed demeanor was shattered. His eyes were wide with lingering fear and disbelief. "I've seen demons, I've seen various hells... but that... thing... that possessed my daughter... it makes one reconsider their own limitations." He looked down at his hands, which were trembling despite his efforts to steady them. "It makes me wish I never went to that meeting."

The weight of his words hung in the air, showing the profound impact the encounter had on him. For a man who had seen and experienced so much, the raw terror and power of the serpent had been a sobering reminder of forces beyond even his understanding.

Bruce remained silent, allowing Ra's al Ghul to process all of this.

Constantine eventually broke the silence, his usual bravado tempered by the reality of their situation. "We faced something truly ancient and malevolent. We'll need all the help we can get to make sure it doesn't return."

As the three men sat there, catching their breath and contemplating the future, the rest of the Justice League continued to work around them. Superman was being carefully moved to a more comfortable position, Wonder Woman and Zatanna tending to his injuries.

Damian stayed close to his mother, holding her hand tightly, refusing to let go. The ordeal had shaken him to his core, but he found strength in the fact that Talia was alive and safe.

An hour had passed since the harrowing ordeal with the serpent. Bruce Wayne, along with his allies, scrambled to address the rapidly deteriorating situation. The Justice League headquarters buzzed with frenetic activity as they worked tirelessly to inform their allies and perform damage control.

Batman stood at the center of the command room, surrounded by his trusted comrades: Wonder Woman, Superman (now in a wheelchair due to his injuries), Aquaman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Cyborg. The large screens displayed an overwhelming influx of information and data, painting a grim picture of the current state of affairs.

"We need to get a handle on this, and fast," Batman said, his voice steely with determination. "We have to track Amanda Waller's, Professor Ivo's, and Lex Luthor's contacts and figure out how deep this goes."

Cyborg's fingers danced over the keyboard, accessing and compiling the data at an incredible speed. "The messages are staggering. People are pouring their influence into LexCorp, Waller's organization, and Ivo's research. Stocks are being bought up, and investments are skyrocketing at an alarming rate."

The screen showed a dizzying array of stock market charts and graphs, all showing sharp upward spikes. The sheer volume of transactions was creating a chain reaction that was quickly spiraling out of control.

"The scientific advancements their organizations have suddenly discovered are unparalleled," Wonder Woman added, reading one of the reports. "LexCorp has just announced breakthroughs in nanotechnology and solar energy harnessing. Ivo's research is now decades ahead of where it should be, and Waller's network is expanding at an exponential rate."

Superman, his face etched with concern, shook his head. "This is happening too fast. It's as if all the pieces were already in place, just waiting for the right moment to be activated."

The Flash zipped around the room, gathering and organizing reports. "Guys, this is insane. It's like a perfect storm. The public's trust in these organizations is off the charts. They're throwing money at them without a second thought."

Green Lantern's ring projected holographic data of the affected areas. "We need to inform our allies and coordinate our response. This has gone beyond a simple power grab—it's becoming a global crisis."

Batman nodded. "Cyborg, send encrypted messages to all our allies. They need to be aware of the situation. We need to know who's backing Waller, Ivo, and Luthor, and we need to cut off their influence before it's too late."

Cyborg's eyes glowed as he transmitted the messages. "On it, Batman. Informing the Titans, the Green Lantern Corps, the Amazons, and Atlantis. We're going to need everyone on this."

As the team continued their work, a thought struck Bruce like a lightning bolt. He turned to his allies; his voice urgent. "We need to call in our contacts from Krakoa in the other multiverse. We need to call Derreck and some of the others. This has spiraled out of our ability to handle on our own."

The room fell silent as they processed his words. Batman continued, "Based on what Ra's al Ghul said, the easiest way to undo this is for one of the three—Waller, Ivo, or Luthor—or the ringwraith to take the Almighty's name in vain a few times at most or outright challenge him. If we can have them do one of those things, then their influence will stop."

Wonder Woman nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "We need to act quickly. The longer we wait, the more entrenched their influence becomes."

Superman, despite his injuries, added, "I'll reach out to our contacts in Krakoa. They have resources and abilities that can help us turn the tide."

Cyborg, already interfacing with the multiverse communication systems, said, "I'm sending the request now. Derreck and the others will know how critical this is."

As the messages were sent and the team awaited responses, Batman addressed his comrades. "Stay on alert and watch each other's backs. We cannot afford any mistakes."
