"Class today you will be working on a project. It will be up to groups of 5. You will be given samples, you have to analyze the samples and using the data in order to create a detailed synopsis as well as a power point presentation with all features. The due date is in a week. You have today, and tomorrow to work on it in school. I recommend using your time wisely." Mr. Stark says.
"Skye" Jemma says, grabbing her attention, "Do you want to work with us?"
"Uh, yeah- sure. Uh...I'm not sure um...how much help I'd be"
"Well, are you good at computers?" Leo asks.
"Yeah,"
"Good, because Fitz is good at computers, but now we have you"
They must have seen her confused face at the mention of Fitz, "Oh- my last name is Fitz, some people call me by my last name. Same as Jemma. Her last name is Simmons,"
Skye nods, oh.
"Other than today, where do you want to work on it?"
"Well, I can" Fitz responds, but my mom is out of town.
"You could come over to my place. Unless Skye..."
"Uh, I d-don't know. I'm living with the Garretts"
Their eyes widen, "You live with the Garretts!?"
Skye suddenly feels self conscience, "Uh- yeah. W-why?"
"Oh, it's just his children are a little- Let's just say, wild"
"Really?" They didn't really seem really wild, other than the little scuffle in the morning.
"Yeah, they are total jocks. Every party, they go to wasted. I mean I hate listening to rumors but it is crazy. Apparently their father isn't any better."
Wow, great...I mean maybe they're wrong.
"So I guess it's settled, then my house" Jemma says.
Skye gets out around 3pm and realizes she has around 2 hours. She really doesn't have to be back until at least 4pm to make dinner. Walking around she sees all different shops. Too bad, there is no reason for her to go into any. Her stomach rumbles but she's afraid to eat anything in the house. Is she allowed? Well maybe, she could get a little something quick before heading home. Would she be able to eat dinner with them?
Looking around she notices a diner on the corner called Mayson's Grilled Cheese Diner.
Walking in a waiter greets her and shows her to a table set for two and hands her a menu.
"Hi, my name is Shawn, what can I get you to drink?"
"Water is good, thanks"
"One water coming up"
Sitting there and thinking about her first day she gets lost in though before a redhead and a blondie walk in.
"Shawn is Dad here?" The redhead asks.
"He should be getting here soon"
"Oh okay, while we wait, can I have a chocolate milkshake" The blonde asks.
"You and your chocolate milkshakes"
"Nat you love me,"
"I do" The redhead, which I get is Nat, smiles, "That's why I married you"
"Well that's good, because I love you" The blonde smiles, kissing her.
The kiss for a good minute or two before Skye hears a familiar voice, "No kissing in my diner" they joke making the couple laugh.
Intrigued Skye turns her head to the voice before seeing Mr. Coulson, her homeroom teacher and sociology teacher. Right at that moment Shawn comes back with her water,
"What else can I get you?"
"Uh-" Skye whispers. She really doesn't want Mr. Coulson to see her, "Grilled cheese?"
"Okay, I'll get started on that"
While Shawn is getting her sandwich ready she can't help but eavesdrop on Phil and his daughter.
"So, when is your IVF next transfer appointment?"
"In about a week" Nat says, pulling Bobbi closer, "From there we'll see how it goes"
Skye feels weird. Not about the IVF part, she thinks that's great, wonderful, but she feels like she shouldn't be eavesdropping on this private conversation, especially because this is her teacher's daughter.
"Here's you sandwich Miss"
"You know, I am so sorry, but can I have that to go?"
"Yes, of course, I'll bring your check too"
"Thanks" she mutters staring down at the table. He quickly puts it in a box before handing her it with a check. She hands him a 10 dollar bill, "Keep the change".
She was so close to the door before Phil calls out, "Skye?!"
She takes a breath and slowly turns to face him, "Hi"
"I see you ordered a grilled cheese"
Skye strains a smile as now his daughter and her wife, as well as the other employees look her way, "Uh- yeah, thanks. I-'ve got to go."
She gets home around 3:45pm, and starts her homework. Skye doesn't have a lot, but it takes her till 4:20pm to complete it all. Sighing she starts on dinner. There doesn't seem to be a lot to make, but she finds some ground meat, and some potatoes. Everything is cooking great when Garrett and the boys walk through around 5:15pm.
"Mhmm it smells good Skye, thank you" Garrett smiles.
"Skye, you're such a great cook" Grants smiles.
"Oh, stop buttering her up" Christian laughs, rolling his eyes.
"Skye, you are dismissed"
She nods, before walking upstairs with her grilled cheese. She eats it on the floor on her cot, and boy, this was an amazing grilled cheese. She finished it in around 10-12 minutes and then getting a shower.
"Skye!" She hears yelled up.
She tenses before starting down stairs. It was Garrett, "Skye! Why are there dishes in the washer?"
"-uh well, I put the di-shes I used for dinner into the dish washer" Skye whispers.
He advances getting up face to face with her. She can feel his hot, alcoholic breath against her face, making her wince and want to hide, "Why did they not get put away?!"
"I-'m so-ry" She mumbles.
He grabs her arm tightly, "You better be" He spits before throwing her against the wall.
The next morning Skye wakes up with a pounding headache. How did it go so wrong? It was only the first day. She feels tears running down her face. She really wanted to run away, but would that do any good? Her whole body was pounding with pain. Skye starts shaking, school, she thinks, she still has to go to school.
"Skye! We're leaving for school" the boys shout up making her ears pound more. She puts her hands on her ears hoping to block the ringing.
