It all started a month ago in late April. The biology class had just finished their wildlife lesson and the students were at the reserved park and barbeque laughing and chatting away in the pleasant afternoon. Erika was at the top of a small mountainside enjoying a nice relaxation on the grass and having a nice lemonade after her teachings. Her quiet time was interrupted when Once-ler walked up to her and sat next to her.
"Hi, Once," she greeted. She likes to nickname him that. "Aren't you going to have fun with the others? The lessons are over for today."
"There's no need Erika," he smiled. "Now that I've become a real man."
This confused her. "What're you talking about?"
"You know what I mean," he smiled flirtatiously. Then he held on to her arm. "Bumping into each other last month during spring break was coincidental, but one night sure wasn't."
She almost choked on the lemonade she was drinking. "I don't know what you're talking about," she whispered as if she was telling him to shut up.
"Oh, don't deny it," he smiled smugly. He did not lower his voice and he didn't care. "That night when your husband and stepdaughter fell asleep in your hotel room, you came into my hotel room and we both had real fun." Judging by her silence and flustered blushing, she knew he was right.
"And ever since that night," he continued. "I've been able to please your life in and out of the sheets far more than your old Transylvanian husband can."
"What the hell, Once-ler?!" a woman shouted angrily. It was Once-ler's girlfriend Norma. They both turned and before anyone could reply, his arm was grabbed.
"Hey, let go!" he shouted, freeing himself.
"I heard everything!" Norma glared. "Is this true?"
The fight was loud enough for the others to stop what they were doing and listen to the drama.
"What, were you being a busybody?" he retorted vindictively. "In case you can't understand, here's a newsflash: I'm sleeping with Erika Dracula. Happy?"
Smack! He was met with her hand on his cheek.
"You bastard!" she spat.
Coming out of his brief shock, he looked at her with disbelief. "What the fuck?" he asked with venom and removing his hand from his stinging cheek. "What kind of maniac are you?" Done with the argument, he began to walk away.
"Hey, we're not done here!" yelled Norma. She grabbed his sleeve, causing his feet to turn.
In that instant, his foot stepped on a piece of unsteady rock! Everyone watched in terror at what was happening before their eyes! He screamed as he fell off the mountain!
"Once-ler!" Erika and Norma shouted in horror! In a few seconds, his body landed with a sickening thud and his screaming stopped completely! The two women ran down the hill! Everyone gathered around his body!
"Once-ler?" asked Wheatley in a quivering voice. "Once-ler?!" Not one single movement. "Oh, my God! I... I think he's dead!"
The class gasped and wondered if it was true as they stared at his body, too shocked to know what to do.
"My God," said Norma distraught. "I'll call 9-1-1!"
She was about to run to get her cell from her purse, but Erika grabbed her arm. "Norma, wait," she ordered nonchalantly. Norma didn't know why she stopped her and why she was so calm about this situation, but Erika knew. If police found out about this, the student would tell what Once-ler said before his death. She could kiss her license and new family goodbye if her affair was discovered.
"Are you sure you want to confess?" Erika warned. "You did push him after all."
Norma had no words. Why was she making her a scapegoat and saving her own skin? The students, however, had different opinions.
"She's right. You're not at fault. Don't confess. After he admitted to cheating on you, he deserved it."
"He was such an arrogant dick. If you ask me, he had it coming."
"Don't ruin your life because of him."
"He's better off dead."
"Good riddance to bad rubbish."
She had no idea they had that much disdain for him. Then again, she thought they had a point. He always came off as a high-and-mighty egomaniac who likes to push people's buttons and his admission of cheating on her only confirmed her previous concerns about him. She now knew the rose-tinted glasses had to come off no matter how much it hurt.
"Hey, students," said Erika, who was hatching a plan. "Remember the human body the workers from the morgue will kindly offer, and that you'll dissect it as your final? Well, there's extra credit for this dissection." She was willing to take her secret and him to her grave.
Everyone was stripped down to their underwear while Once-ler's lifeless body was stripped butt naked. There was a little blood that dripped on the side of his face after the fall. Some gathered hacksaws Erika had in her car and began sawing away. First, they started at the arms and legs. It took some effort because they couldn't get through the bones all the way.
"Fuck! It hurts!"
The students gasped at the sound of the voice. It was Once-ler who was suddenly wide awake and writhing in pain!
"He's alive?!"
"What do we do, professor?"
"Hold him down," Erika commanded.
What was she saying? They could clearly see him alive and hurting. "But-"
"I said," she repeated threateningly. "Hold. Him. The fuck. Down."
Seeing she wasn't fooling, they obeyed. It was difficult because he still had some fight in him.
"Stop!" he cried. His struggle was fruitless, and his cries were ignored as a student placed her hand on his mouth. He could only look in sheer fear and scream through the hand in vain as he was fully subdued.
One student quickly grabbed a pair of scissors. "I'm sorry," she said and stabbed it into his throat.
The sound of the stab made Wheatley, who was behind a tree, wince. He was the only one who refused to dismember him. He didn't know the reason, but it wouldn't feel right.
With scissors, hacksaws, and meat cleavers, they were able to cut through every limb, bone, and gut they could. Through the bloody, gory mess, they carefully observed any important organ they could find.
"No wonder it's called a large intestine," said one pulling out the end of it. "It is large."
"That's the sigmoid colon, dumbass," snarked another, pulling out the actual large intestine. "Looks like he's still had his appendix."
"He must've snacked on marshmallows again," remarked one cutting open the stomach. "He always had a sweet tooth."
Norma softly hugged his head not caring about the blood dripping out of the neck. "Once-ler," she said tearfully. Despite everything that happened, she still deep down loved him.
"Make sure you wash the blood off in the river," Erika instructed. "Your early dissection has been very successful. You've made me proud today."
"We've cut him into 32 pieces," Erika announced to the students fully clothed again holding bits of the dead student wrapped in cloths. "That's one per student. Be sure to dispose of the part you've got anywhere where you're absolutely certain can't be found. I'm so sorry this trip took a turn. Take caution heading home."
Wheatley was standing in the middle of the bridge holding a black cloth containing Once-ler's heart. In some fucked up way, it was kind of them to give him his heart. Even though he was fond of him, he always wondered what Once-ler gets causing discord to people around him. "Maybe this is for the best," Wheatley said to himself with tears.
Finally, he dropped the heart at the bridge and watched it flow in the river.
