Chapter 2 – Let's get this straight.
Carlisle took a breath. "I'm not sure how this has happened, but I think we need to start from the beginning." He grabbed a stool and sat down with my chart and pen in his hand.
"What's your name?" He asked and I sat up a bit more "My names Violet Grey. I'm 17 and I'm from London, England." I watched as he wrote down the missing pieces of my chart, he looked back up at me "Alright, Violet can you explain to me your side of events?" I sighed and took a breath as I started to relay everything that happened before I woke up here, he watched me intently as I said every word. All this really did sound crazy, Carlisle seemed to be understanding. Once I had finished relaying the events i asked him where I was found here.
"You were found in the woods by a hiker, you were unconscious. You have no significant injuries just a bump to your head." Okay so that does explain the headache I've got. I quickly came to realize that I had no idea what the date was, I sucked in a breath.
"Carlisle, what date is it?" I asked cautiously and his brow furrowed "It's January 1st." his response was simple, I sighed with relief but then a thought came to me. "Carlisle, what year is it?" I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"2005."
Oh god oh god. I was almost 19 years in the past, I wasn't even born in 2005! My eyes widened and my breathing became fast. I felt a cold hand press gently on my shoulder and Carlisle had now got down to my level and was telling me to take deep breaths. After a few minutes I had managed to steady my breathing.
"In my world it was October 25th, 2023." I paused for a moment "I wasn't even alive in 2005, Carlisle."
I could tell that this situation was confusing for the both of us, we sat in silence for the next ten minutes. The silence was broken when Carlisle stood up "I think you need to meet the rest of the family, we can discuss this more in depth at my home." I scrunched my nose "How am I going to be able to get out of here?" I asked and Carlisle walked towards the door "I will handle it; I will be back to see you soon." He said gently and exited the room.
I'm going to be meeting the Cullen family? The family I'd secretly longed for and now I felt anxious about it, I knew all about them but yet they knew nothing about me. What if they didn't like me? I need to get a grip. I've somehow travelled to a different world, where I shouldn't even be born and I'm worried about if the Cullen's a family of vampires, didn't like me.
It felt like Carlisle had been gone for what seemed like an eternity, I spent most of the time trying to wake myself up thinking that this all was some sort of realistic dream, I'd even gone as far to try and slap myself across the face. Spoiler alert, this didn't work, I didn't wake up, I'm starting to think that this isn't a dream after all. My eyes darted to the door as it gently swung open and Carlisle walked back inside holding what looked like a pile of neatly folded clothes under his arm.
"All sorted." He said calmly and I shook my head in disbelief.
"No way, how did you manage that one?" I asked as he handed me the clothes…well scrubs.
"I told them that you're my neice that moved to Seattle not long ago and was having a troubled time so you ran away aiming to get to Forks to us. I told them that I concealed your identity as I wanted to be the one to treat you and make sure that you were okay. As doctors aren't supposed to treat family."
I raised my eyebrows at his words "Smooth, I'm guessing you'll have Jenks sort out all the nessacery paperwork then." I shrugged my shoulders pretty nonchalant about the whole thing and now it was his turn to raise a brow.
"How did you….Right yes the books."
I smiled a little at him.
"Yeah, the books."
I gestured for Carlisle to turn around so I could get changed into the pair of dark blue scrubs that he gave me and he quickly did so. I shifted to the edge of the bed and first shimmied the pants on and then undid the hideous gown I was put in and threw the scrub top over my head and put it on.
"Right you can look now."
He turned around and walked over to me offering a hand "It's time we get out of here." He said gently and I looked down at my feet as I grabbed his hand and stood up from the bed "Carlisle…. Where are my shoes?" I asked as I looked at my bare feet which only now I had noticed that the black nail polish I had on had chipped on my big toe…annoying…"Ah, your belongings are all in a bag. It's only the clothes and shoes you were wearing when we found you. They are pretty much ruined." He explained "Not to worry I'm sure Alice or possibly Rosalie will lend you clothes and shoes for the meantime." His voice was gentle as we walked out of the room "Then how am I going to get to the ca-" I cut my words off as Carlilse gestured to the wheelchair just outisde of the room "Really?" this was so embarrasing. I could hear him chuckling slightly as he nodded "This is so not funny." I huffed as I plonked myself down into the chair and he began wheeling me through the hospital and into the car park.
We got to Carlisle's car and he opened the door for me, I quickly hopped out of the wheelchair and into the passenger seat. I shut the door and put my seatbelt on as I watched Carlilse return the wheelchair and stride back to the car. "You okay?" he said sincerely as he got into the car and turned on the engine, I nodded in response. Now that I was in the car for some reason in my head everything just got very real, Carlisle gave me a small smile and drove out of the car park.
I guess it's time to meet the rest of the Cullen family.
