Huntresses of Fairy Tail
"So boring." Ruby groaned, lying her head on their usual table in the Guildhall. "It's so boring right now. There's nothing to do."
"There's nothing we can really do." Blake said, sitting across from her. "We were banned from taking on jobs for a while, because we broke rank and went to Fazbears when Raion ordered us to stay away, but we didn't listen."
"How much longer on that punishment?" Weiss asked.
"About a day." Yang said. "We can grab a job as soon as tomorrow. That way we can start paying the rent we owe Raion."
"Master said the contract doesn't take hold until next month. So we don't actually owe him any rent until then." Seras stated.
"Still, I find it weird that Raion would have a problem living with all of us." Ruby said.
"Ruby, anyone living with roommates, is bound to run into some complications." Yang stated. "We just kept piling on the complications we brought, without considering Raion's feelings in all this."
"Which lead to him needing to blow off some steam on an S-Class Quest." Weiss said. "But isn't it considerably more dangerous for him to go out on an S-Class job now?"
"Because Mesu broke from him, and now has half his power." Seras sighed. "Yeah. An' it doesn't help that she's still being influenced by the red Kryptonite that replaced the ruby gemstone in Raion's bracer."
"I'm sure it'll be fine." Ruby said. "This is Raion we're talking about. He's never been one to quit or back down."
"Which isn't always a good thing." Blake said. "Which job did he go on again?"
"He took on a request from Menagerie's Chieftain." Qrow said, coming to their table with several drinks. "I originally took it, but after seeing his frustration yesterday morning, I thought he could use it."
"Wait… Menagerie's Chieftain sent out a request for help, and it became S-Class?" Blake asked.
"Yep. Due to how high the reward for completing it was." Qrow stated, before he began pondering. "What's the Chieftain's name again? It's on the tip of my tongue. He was the founding Master of the White Fang Guild and everything."
"Ghira." Blake said putting her book down. "His name's Ghira Belladonna."
"Belladonna?" Seras asked. "But isn't that…"
"Yeah, it's my name." Blake sighed. "An' we share the same name, because he's my dad." Her words shocked those sitting at the table, plus those within hearing range. "An' if he's put out an S-Class Quest, then the job is more then he can handle alone."
~Raion~
"Just perfect." Raion groaned sarcastically, while looking at his Scroll. "We've been wondering the twists and turns of this labyrinth, for nearly 24hours! How far down do these tunnels go?"
"Long enough for Ghira to have gotten lost within them for nearly three months." Zaruba said. "Remember, these tunnels are all over the ancient city's underground. So it's likely they reach just as far down, if not more. But I can tell you for certain, we're now on the fifth floor."
"After having run into countless Grimm and Amalgamations along the way." Raion sighed with a huff. "My food rations won't last longer then another day or two either. Obviously, with nothing to do for 500 years, Grimmig probably memorized every twist and turn of these catacombs."
"That's a fair assessment." Zaruba said. "What do you suppose he was running back down here for anyway, when he could have just went for the village?"
"I don't know Zaruba." Raion sighed. "Your guess would be as good as mine. But if I had to hazard one, I'd say he's got something down here, that he'd possibly consider his master piece."
"Like what you suppose?"
"Well, the carvings on these walls, are Kryptonian, same as the runes and effigies in the temple on Galuna Island, before it became my Fortress of Solitude. Both that temple, and this ancient civilization, seem to have been carved and built by the Kryptonians who escaped a realm called the Phantom Zone." Raion said. "So if I were to actually attempt a guess at it, I'd have to say, he created the ultimate slave, or Amalgamation, using the remains of the long deceased Kryptonians that were buried in these catacombs, before the civilization was swallowed up by the earth, for the first time."
"There's also a chance he created the perfect body with those remains."
"But they'd be nothing but dried up bones at this point, dust even. So even if he were to wrap them in new flesh, he wouldn't be able to simulate a Kryptonians full power set. He'd only be able to fly or obtain super strength and speed at most when absorbing yellow sun radiation, because of some possible remaining bone marrow remaining."
"That would still be more then enough for him. Since he'd be invulnerable." Zaruba said.
"Not true." Raion stated. "There are several things Kryptonians are vulnerable to. All assorted colors of Kryptonite, red sun radiation, and Dust, just to name a couple."
"Anything else?"
"Sound frequencies, psychic powers, even our invulnerability can work against us, because if we do get hurt, modern mortal medical tools, won't be able to do anything for us, as they won't be able to pierce our skin." Raion stated. "But the biggest weakness of all, is something utilized on this planet, by most of the population, and a small majority."
"An' that would be?"
"Magic, and Semblances." Raion stated. "Kryptonians are vulnerable to magic, same with Semblances used by Huntsmen and Huntresses. Mainly because if it's connected to any sort of life energy at all, then we can be harmed by it, as life energy tends to surpass the limitations of mortal flesh."
"An astute observation." Zaruba said. "Where are you taking us now?"
"I can feel the deteriorating Ki of Ghira Belladonna." Raion said. "I'm following its trail, which should lead us straight to Grimmig."
"I see."
"So tell me about yourself Zaruba." Raion said. "How exactly were you able to cling to my finger, when I didn't eve make a grab for you?"
"Ghira had died. An' that signified to me the need to choose a new champion." Zaruba stated. "I was once, known as a Horror. In fact, you could say I was the first, and most powerful Horror to ever walk the earth."
"What exactly is a Horror?" Raion asked.
"A creature of death and despair. Feeding on the weak, and defenseless, after losing their humanity to negative emotions such as despair, greed, wrath, and even lust." Zaruba explained.
"In correlation to the Seven Lords of Sin." Raion nodded in understanding.
"Though I was a powerful Horror, I eventually regained my sanity, and became what you now see before you. A tool, to aid and assist in the pursuit of balance and peace, with a Makai Knight." Zaruba stated.
"What was your human name before you became a Horror?" Raion asked.
"I was known, as the first son of the first man Adam." Zaruba said. "My name was Cain, and my story started, with taking my brother Abel's life, and becoming the worlds first murderer in my universe."
"Sounds like, a painful story." Raion said.
"It is. But there were reasons behind what I did. Reasons that were perverted and twisted over time." Zaruba said. "I didn't kill my brother, because I hate him. I killed him, because I loved him."
"How exactly does that play out?" Raion asked.
"My brother thought, that God, our universe's creator, was the one talking to him. But it wasn't. It was the destroyer, the Devil, who was manipulating him into thinking he was doing God's will." Zaruba stated. "My brother was meant to be a vessel for his reign of terror on the earth."
"But you stopped that, by killing your brother."
"By making a deal with the Devil himself." Zaruba stated. "I'd give him my soul to take down to Hell, in exchange for Abel's soul, going to Heaven."
"Then, where does you killing him, come to play?" Raion asked, looking at Zaruba.
"It comes into play, where I had to be the one to send his soul to Heaven. Thus, I had to kill him with my own hands. So I took up the jaw bone of an animal, and sharpened the bottom edge, creating the first blade, in which I stabbed it through Abel's throat." Zaruba said. "I was exiled from my home, and the Devil never got my end of the bargain fulfilled, because I'd been cursed by God to live for all eternity, before my wrath consumed me, and turned me into the first Horror, centuries after I'd lost everyone I'd ever loved."
"That, couldn't have been easy Zaruba." Raion stated, looking around a corner. "I'm sorry you had to go through all."
"I appreciate your sympathy, but it happened so long ago, it doesn't bother me anymore." Zaruba stated. "Now I'm mainly focused on keeping as many people from dying, as possible."
"Good, because we've found Grimmig's hideout." Raion said, showing Zaruba the scene around the corner.
"My word." Zaruba gasped.
At the end of the hall, surrounded by green glowing stones, was a stone crucifix, propped up like an examination table, with multiple sets of bones tied together, in accordance to proportions of a body, giving the impromptu skeleton a devastating height. The skull looked like it was clustered, and pieced together like a giant puzzle, with the teeth looking like they came from Grimm.
"How tall, do you suppose that thing is?" Raion asked.
"From this distance, and the density of each bundle of bones, I'd have to estimate, it's close to twenty two feet tall." Zaruba said.
"That's bad." Raion said, noticing all the discarded coffins, with shards of bones scattered around in them. "An' this is worse."
"All these coffins, were filled with Kryptonian remains?" Zaruba asked, as Raion lifted one of the coffin lids, showing a shield crest, with a different emblem inside other then his own.
"They were, and he desecrated all of them!" Raion growled, as he marched out of there. "I don't care who this fucker, thinks he is. He's destroyed the sacred resting place of so many Kryptonians. He is going down!"
"I couldn't agree more." Zaruba said, neither of them noticing the strings of lightning dancing around Raions clenched fists.
Raion's pace was steady, picking up speed before he was straight up running towards Grimmig's creation, his fist pulled back, right as he threw his punch, he was ensnared in a black sticky web like substance, that stretched out with his momentum, before pulling the hybrid back, ten feet away from the massive creation.
"Oh dear me, it seems the naughty animal was about to destroy my master piece." Grimmig said. "Such a bad boy, but master will punish you in due time."
"Grimmig, I will end you, for desecrating the graves of my people!" Raion shouted, pulling on the webbing that bound him.
"I highly doubt that. Though you proved yourself strong outside, you're nothing without the sunlight to power you." Grimmig stated. "Without your source of power, you're nothing but a weak, helpless animal."
"What the hell is this stuff?" Raion questioned, as his struggles against the webbing holding him back.
"Like it? A nifty little ability, I gave a few of my more subtle creations." Grimmig said, as two spider like Amalgamations came crawling along the black webbing. "Of course I had to use a multitude of spinnerets from multiple Arachnes that managed to make their way down here. It's actually the substance that's keeping the skeleton of my masterpiece together, without any flesh or ligaments."
"You're a sick, twisted ass!" Raion shouted.
"Oh, don't got saying something so hurtful, and untrue my pet. But I will admit, I might have changed a bit when Salem changed me, the way she had, and there are limitations to what I can do on my own." Grimmig tsked, coming up to Raion with a blade. "Now, I might be a God made flesh, but even I can't possess a body without any flesh of its own. One of those pesky limitations I mentioned earlier."
"Shit!" Raion hissed, as Grimmig used a blade to cut through the fabric of his shirt, down the center. "Don't you fucking touch me with that blade Grimmig."
"Ah, ah, ah. It's about time I give you, your punishment, don't you think?" Grimmig asked with a smile. "An' you should feel honored. As soon as your filthy animal flesh becomes a part of my master piece, it'll be purified and turned human."
Grimmig raised his blade, and brought it crashing down on Raion's chest, only for the blade to bend and ring out through the hall with a metallic echoing sound. Grimmig grunted in frustration, as he pulled the blade back, showing the bent area was cracked, before it broke off completely.
"An ordinary steel dagger isn't strong enough to pierce that thick skin of yours. That simply won't do." Grimmig sighed, tossing the broken blade to the side, before pulling out another blade that shined with a brilliant green light. The energy from the blade causing Raion to feel quite sick.
'A Kryptonite blade?' He questioned. 'Did the founders of this lost civilization forge that for dealing with traitors among their ranks? The sheath has to be made with a lead lining on the inside.'
"Like it? I found it within the largest coffin at the end of this dungeon." Grimmig smiled. "If I translated the ancient language correctly, this blade was used by their executioner, to slit the throats of death row inmates. A mineral so rare, it's said to have come from another realm of reality entirely. I thought it a waste for such a fabulous blade, to rust away within the tomb, and took it for myself."
"Monster." Raion growled, glaring at Grimmig.
"Name calling won't save you, beast." Grimmig said, stabbing above Raion's right pectoral major, drawing blood, and causing Raion to force himself into gritting his teeth in pain. "Now that did the trick."
With a smile, Grimmig pulled the blade across Raion's body, causing him even more pain, before it became too much, and Raion was crying out in agony, making Grimmig's smile grow even more, before he removed the blade, after reaching the initial entry wound once more.
"There now, that wasn't so bad, was it?" Grimmig questioned, as Raion just hung there, eyes blank from the pain he'd endured. "Now then, time to remove the final piece I've been missing from finishing my Master Piece."
Grimmig stabbed the Kryptonite blade into the webbing by Raion's head, before he reached his fingers into two corners of the wounds he'd made carving Raion up, causing the hybrid's body to flinch in pain from the sudden intrusion, before Grimmig pulled on the flesh, peeling it off Raion's body, like he was peeling off a scab, revealing the ribs, internal organs, and guts inside Raion's body that remained in place inside his body, from the angle he was held at.
"An' with this final piece, my perfect body shall be created." Grimmig said, stepping up to his skeletal creation, and putting the slab of flesh and skin up against the giants sternum, his smile growing even wider as his hands began glowing green. "Now, if I course a bit of my magic into the flesh then…"
Without another word, the slab of flesh torn from Raion's body, melded and grew to fit the giant skeletons, before the flesh began spreading out, growing and covering more of the surrounding bones.
"Yes, YES!" Grimmig cheered, his own body glowing green. "It's finally complete! Now, every filthy animal, shall be my slave. They shall kneel before me, and the entire world shall become my Kingdom, as this humble nobleman, makes them rue the day they dishonored me, and took my slaves from their rightful duties. This day, God gains the perfect body, and shall take his rightful place, as ruler of the world!" He declared, with his own face and hands withering away, the skin becoming leathery as the head and hands vanished into dust, causing Ghira's body to fall.
Raion's mind, awash with pain and torment, cleared up as he grit his teeth, glaring at the growing flesh, his flesh, enveloping the skeletons, as the head grew long blue hair, the same shade as Grimmig's. With pained movement, Raion used Ki to break his arm free, before he reached into the pouch on his hip, and grabbed a handful of his healing pills, before shoving them into his mouth, and eating them like they were candy.
Almost instantly, Raion's body began to shift, his flesh weaving like silk threads over the open wound Grimmig created, before it was sealed up, with scar tissue remaining on the edges, before Raion tore free of the webbing. Landing on the ground, Raion painfully grabbed the hilt of the Kryptonite dagger, and leapt at Ghira's body, sheathing the lethal isotope blade within the scabbard on the hip, feeling a sense of relief wash over him, before he brought his arms up in an X formation, and instantly a tent of stone sprouted, covering him and the body he was next to, still glowing green, before it sunk into the ground, burying them for safety.
"I hope this works." Raion said, removing Ghira's skull from the shoulder, and putting it against the open throat spilling blood, before repeating the same thing with the skeletal hands he kept. "Please work, I don't wanna be the one to tell Blake you're dead."
Raion looked at Ghira's body with nervous anticipation, before the green light remaining around the body, enveloped the bones, and they slowly began regenerating.
"What is it you're hoping for Raion?" Zaruba asked.
"Some of Grimmig's residual magic, clung to Ghira's body. I had hoped that it would be enough to restore Ghira's head and hands, if at least partially. I wasn't expecting this though." Raion said, as Ghira's head and hands were restored, with a more youthful look to them.
"It worked like you wanted." Zaruba said.
"But he's not waking up." Raion said.
"I have an idea, put me on his finger." Zaruba stated.
Raion removed Zaruba from his hand, and placed it on the middle finger of Ghira's right hand. Slowly but surely, Zaruba's eyes dimmed down, and Ghira was enveloped in a glowing golden veil of light.
"I don't know what you're doing Zaruba, but I think it's working." Raion said, before the area around him, became purple, and he was no longer in the stone tent he made. "No, not this place again."
Raion looked to Ghira's body, and saw a slivering trail of purple light leading up from it, and to what looked like the severed soul of Ghira, as it was clutched within the claws of the hooded figure Raion had seen at both Fazbears, and the Tower of Heaven.
"So you can see me." He said, with a smile of interest spreading across his lips. "That makes this all the more interesting."
"Who are you?" Raion questioned, getting to his feet. "Why do you want Ghira's soul?"
"I am, but a humble force of nature, merely doing his job." The man said.
"A force of nature?" Raion questioned, his realization causing him to take a step back. "You… you're…"
"Death." The Wolf Demi smirked, his scarlet eyes glowing with power. "An' I don't mean it, metaphorically, or rhetorically, or poetically, or theoretically or in any other, fancy way. I'm Death, straight up!"
"Then… then that means you can bring Ghira back, you can…"
"Not gonna happen Amigo." Death stated, keeping the thread of light away from Ghira's soul. "Your friend Seras, was one thing. A soul, for a soul, equivalent exchange. I brought her back, in exchange for Afton's soul, which she eventually delivered on with her end of the deal. But Ghira Belladonna, is mine."
"That's not fair." Raion said, getting angry. "That's not fair to Blake, or Kali, or…"
"The citizens of Menagerie?" Death questioned. "Listen, I know it may seem heartless of me, but I am honest when I tell you, I take no joy in the pain I cause the living, when I collect the souls of those whose names come across my list." He said, holding up what looked like a business card made of solid gold, showing Ghira's name on it, and crossed off. "It's just how the world works. That's the way life has always been, even before the Brothers were born."
"The brothers, you mean…"
"The brother deities, the ones responsible for creating your world to begin with. You mortals never cease to entertain me upon finding out the brothers live." Death chuckled. "Though, I may be willing to make a little deal with you, in exchange for Ghira's soul."
"What do you want?" Raion questioned.
"Answer me, a couple riddles, in the same order they're given." Death smirked. "Riddle number one: In grandeur, they rest, safe from time's theft, their memories preserved, their legacies left."
"I…"
"Riddle number two: Beneath the surface, stone doors keep, where the departed in silence sleep." Death continued. "Number three: Alone I stand where once we were two, draped in black and feeling blue."
"How many riddles are there gonna be?"
"Number four: Beyond life's veil, it's said we go, to realms unknown, of shadow or glow." Death continued on, ignoring Raion's question. "Number five: Thought to depart yet thought to stay, beyond the flesh it finds a way."
"Already up to five?" Raion questioned.
"These next few, are gonna tickle your funny bone." Death smirked. "Number six: I'm dressed all in black, swinging my blade; when your time comes, be not afraid. Number seven: I'm all that's left when flames have kissed; in urns I stay, or by the wind, I'm whisked." He said poetically. "Number eight: I'm often read but never speak, existing only for the souls you keep."
"Eight riddles?" Raion asked.
"An' finally, number nine." Death smirked. "Carved in stone, I lie in fields, above the resting, my message yields. What, am I?"
"Nine riddles? I'm to answer nine riddles, all in order?" Raion questioned.
"Take your time. You've got bigger things then me to worry about right now." Death smirked, as he vanished in a silhouette. "I'll expect your answers when next we meet."
Raion's eyes widened when he realized, he still had Grimmig to deal with, as he returned to reality. The instant he was back, Raion felt the ground shake around him, as Grimmig was no doubt on the move.
"At last, I am finally able to claim this world, as its rightful ruler!" A deeper, dark sounding voice echoed above them.
"Zaruba, I hope you know what you're doing." Raion said, as he raised his hands up, and the stone tent sprouted from the ground again.
Creating an opening, Raion stepped out, before sealing off the tent and burying it once more, staring at the back of Grimmig, and his new body. Surprisingly, Grimmig had his spider like Amalgamations cover him in webs from the waist down, keeping him somewhat decent.
"Hey, Grimmig!" Raion called out to him. "We're not done yet!"
"Oh, so the pet still wants to play with its master? How cute!" Grimmig stated, twisting around, and throwing an open palm to Raion.
The Hybrid teen brought up his arms, bracing himself for the impact, before he felt the giant palm make contact with him, as the force pushed him back quite a bit, before he pressed harder with his legs, and stopped just shy of the crucifix table Grimmig's body had been on. To Raion's surprise, when he got a good look at his face, it was a withered old skull, with a goatee that grew into a small beard, longer then Ghira's.
"What's the matter Grimmig? Not enough sunlight?" Raion smirked. "Your face is looking a little worse for wear."
"Impudent little welp!" Grimmig shouted, his hand lighting up with power.
"Oh shit!" Raion cursed, before he was hit at point blank range, by a giant Ki blast, and sent crashing through the crucifix table, something that even took Grimmig by surprise.
"What was that? What power did I just use?" Grimmig questioned in awe, looking at his hand in wonder.
"That… was a Ki blast." Raion groaned, throwing some of the rubble off himself, before jumping to his feet. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised you're able to use Ki now. Your body is about, what, one third Saiyan, two thirds Kryptonian including skeleton?"
"Saiyan, Kryptonian?"
"That's what I said dipshit!" Raion sighed. "I'm not even a Faunus! But I digress, a monster like you, has now right to know where the flesh comprising his body, came from!"
"Speaking of…" Grimmig said, getting a good look at Raion, just as he tore off what little remained of his shirt. "Is hyper-regeneration an attribute for either Saiyans or Kryptonians?"
"No, that little fun fact, is a trade secret, I'm not willing to share with you either!" Raion stated, cracking his neck. "Now, I think I've had enough of a warm up." He said. 'I just hope with my flesh, he didn't inherit any of my magic.'
Raion took a crouched stance, before he charged at Grimmig, appearing under the giants line of sight for a moment. Grimmig was fast to react, as quickly taking a step back as he threw a punch down, but Raion quickly evaded him, red electricity circling around his arms, as he vanished from the ground, just before the giant fist made impact. From the corner of his eye, Grimmig spotted Raion, crouched on the wall of the cavern, as if he were crouched on the ground, with his hands right in front of his feet, before he jumped towards Grimmig, and spinning forward, slammed the soles of his feet, into the giants face, and pushing him through the ground, sending him crashing through floor after floor, before they stopped, and Grimmig slid along the ground, creating a groove in the stone flooring, stopping at a stone coffin, lined with Kryptonite on the inside.
The instant Grimmig was close to it, he felt his power being drained, feeling sick to his stomach.
"What, what is happening to me?" Grimmig questioned, before Raion landed on his back hard.
"It's called Kryptonite!" Raion said, feeling just as sick as Grimmig, before he pushed through and grabbed a chunk from inside the coffin, tearing it off the lead box of eternal slumber. "How's about getting a taste of it?"
Raion grabbed Grimmig by the roots of his hair, and pulled on it, before slamming his hand over the villains mouth. Without wasting a second, Raion twisted around off the giant's back, and landed on the ground, before getting down and pushing off with his hands, hitting the underside of the giants jaw with another double kick, and forcing him to swallow the Kryptonite.
"There." Raion huffed, moving to close the coffin of the Kryptonian chief. "Now we should be on an even playing field." He said, as he felt his strength return to him.
"You, damned filthy mongrel, I'll kill you for having done this!" Grimmig shouted, sounding sick to his stomach. "Why am I feeling so weak all of a sudden? Just from coming in contact with that rock?"
"Like I said, it's called Kryptonite." Raion sighed, leaning against the coffin in relief. "It's poison to Kryptonians. Which means, you're gonna be feeling that pain until you pass that rock naturally."
"You, little shit!" Grimmig glowered, trying to throw the rock up.
"Good luck trying to hack that up, by the way." Raion chuckled. "With the Kryptonite in direct contact with your stomach, your esophagus muscles will be too weak to even dry heave."
"I'LL KILL YOU!" Grimmig shouted, charging at Raion as best he could.
(Cue Music… The Rage: Kid Cudi)
Raion just glared at Grimmig, before he pivoted on his feet, his hands redirecting the villains fist into the ground next to the coffin, before he continued to carry the momentum, and slammed an open palm into Grimmig's torso, sending the giant flying across the room, past what looked like a mechanical alter with a lacrima core, hitting the wall on the other side.
With Grimmig on the other side of the room, Raion managed to get a good look at the area he'd slammed the villain through to, and saw it was designed similarly to the great hall, in Fiore's royal castle. He'd seen the castle in Crocus a couple times, due to the King requesting his presence on a couple occasions, mainly hired muscle work to guard him or his daughter when delegates from other nations were visiting.
"This, looks almost exactly like the royal castle's Great Hall." Raion said, before his attention was instantly drawn back to Grimmig, as he'd managed to pick himself up, somehow pushing through the pain the Kryptonite was causing him. "Figures, if I can do it, then it stands to reason something made with my flesh can as well!" He tsked, taking a wider stance.
"I'll admit, for a dumb animal, you've managed to take me by surprise. You are stronger then you appear, but that ends now!" Grimmig declared, as two Ki attacks charged in the palms of his hands. "I shall kill you this day, and I shall, take my rightful place, as supreme overlord and ruler of this world!"
'He's burning through the sunlight in his system, very fast. He's not gonna last much longer, but that's why he's subconsciously relying on his Saiyan abilities.' Raion thought. 'Since I've got my tail back, there's nothing stopping me from using, that magic.'
Crossing his arms over his face, Raion took in a deep breath, focusing in on the energy buried deep within him, before he released an immense roar, with a scarlet aura enveloping his body, his eyes having gone white, while his canines grew sharper.
"Primal Berserker!" Raion shouted, as the flames of aura grew stronger around him.
Taking in a smaller breath, Raion released a cloud of black and scarlet flames, before they blew back in his face, enveloping his head before turning into his hair, with tufts of flaming hair growing on his forearms, and his tail burning the same color, with a black-ash substance over most of his upper body, covering his chest and head. His white eyes burned a bright golden color, with his teeth shining brightly, and his jaw having taken on a different structure all together. With another roar of power, Raion revealed his chest and throat illuminated with a burning fire.
"So you show yourself for what you truly are, nothing more then a mindless beast!" Grimmig called out, charging at Raion.
The Primal Warrior roared in indignation, before he began charging at Grimmig on all fours, like a wild animal. As soon as Grimmig and Raion were within striking distance of one another, Grimmig moved to grab Raion, but was unable to as Raion moved quickly to the side, and dug his claws into Grimmig's forearms, causing the Ki attacks in them, to hit the ground, and create an explosion that enveloped the duo in a cloud of smoke and dust.
"Where are you?" Grimmig questioned, before the illuminating light of Raion's aura dispersed the dust, and revealed he was right in the villains face.
With a screech of rage, Raion scratched at Grimmig's face with his claws, pushing the villain back, and causing him to cry out in pain, before the Primal Warrior landed on the ground, and leapt forward, hitting Grimmig with a strong straight side kick to the abs, forcing the madman to bend forward, before Raion twisted around, gripping the man's throat with his tail, and pulling himself upwards, spinning through the air as he came down, before slamming an axe kick down on top of his head, which forced Grimmig to bite through his tongue.
"You…" The villain growled, trying to pick himself up, before he was forced deeper into the ground, by Raion landing on his back, his entire body looking like it was made of metal.
Raion jumped up and down on Grimmig's back, slamming different strikes into the giants spinal column, before he jumped high into the air, using his feet and tail to grip at the beam, directly above Grimmig's location, his hands cupped and at his hip, as he began to chant in a deep guttural voice.
"Kame…"
Grimmig glare in anger, pushing up with his hands, before twisting around, sending a subconscious Ki attack at Raion, forcing the Primal Warrior to jump back, and land on the platform where the King's Coffin was propped up.
"Hame…"
"This is impossible, you cannot do this to me. I am a God, and you are nothing! NOTHING!" Grimmig shouted, forcing himself up, trying to get to his feet but found he could. "My legs. I can't feel anything bellow my waist."
"HAAAAA!" Raion shouted, releasing the attack at Grimmig.
(End Song…)
"NO!" Grimmig cried out, as the attack enveloped him completely.
The attack continued for another moment, before it died down. There, where Grimmig once was, the upper body was nowhere to be seen, as the rest, from the waist down, began vanishing like a Dusted Grimm.
With the danger no longer present, Raion relaxed, his body reverting back to normal, minus the forearm hair, and the black-ash of his upper body, as he fell to his knees, and landed on his back.
"Primal… Berserker…" Raion huffed. "I think, I pushed it a bit too far this time."
"I'd have to agree amigo."
Raion looked to his right, to see Death standing there, before he crouched down next to him with an amused smile on his face.
"But sad to say, for all your efforts, Grimmig isn't dead. His body just took too much damage, and the magic within, forced him to return to his creator." Death said.
"Just great." Raion groaned. "So… I'm dying, aren't I?"
"That you are my friend." Death said. "But, I'm still…"
"A mausoleum, a crypt, a widow, the afterlife, a soul, the Reaper, ashes, graveyard, and a tombstone." Raion said. "All the answers, all in order of the riddles you gave."
"How did…"
"You really wanna know?" Raion smiled.
"Si."
"When my body is in Primal Berserker, my brain is working three hundred times faster then normal. Which makes it seem as if I'm fighting like a wild animal. But in reality, my brain has zero control on that front, and it's really just an animal, fighting purely on survival instinct, until it begins to start wearing off. So my consciousness had plenty of time, to figure out the answers to your riddles, all in order." Raion explained.
Death just looked at Raion, before he smiled and began laughing.
"Ay amigo, I cannot believe you just told me the secret to your trump card." Death smiled, wiping a tear away. "I'm impressed. You aren't the first person to solve my riddle puzzle correctly, but you're by far the most entertaining. But you're still dying."
"I know…"
"Now you must make a choice." Death said. "I either restore your body and your life, or I restore Ghira Belladonna's soul to his body."
Raion looked at Death, before sighing, knowing what the right choice would be.
"Bring back Ghira Belladonna." Raion said.
"Are you sure my friend?"
"Menagerie needs him, more then the world needs a freak like me." Raion stated.
"If you say so." Death said, standing tall. "I'll be back to claim your soul at a…"
Death stopped as he turned to the center of the Great Hall, and his eyes widening in shock.
Raion was curious as to what Death was looking at, and with great difficulty, managed to sit himself up, and looked as well, only to see the silhouette of a man, dressed like a King, comprised entirely of light, with his arms crossed over his chest.
"I am King Rain-El." The man said. "I ruled over this Kingdom, and protected the Faunus that called it home, for several generations."
"The one Kryptonian, whose soul remains out of my reach." Death sneered.
"King Rain-El?" Raion asked. "But, that would mean you're from the…"
Raion stopped talking, as he gasped when Rain-El lowered his arms, showing he had the House of El crest on his suit, under his robes.
"No way." Raion said.
"I was torn from my home, and cast into the Phantom Zone, branded a traitor among my people on Krypton, even though I'd done nothing wrong. But when I found my way to Remnant, I knew I could make a fresh start for myself, even though it pained me to know I'd never see my wife, or children ever again." Rain-El said. "Young man, speak your name and lineage."
"My name is… Raion Kal-El. I am son of Kara Zor-El, the last remaining daughter of Krypton, after its destruction." Raion introduced himself. "I am of the House of El."
"The House of El?" Rain-El asked with a smile. "You are of my blood, and thus I am happy to proclaim you the new King of this nation."
"King?" Raion asked.
"You showed great courage in the face of difficult danger, and fought bravely against an insurmountable foe." Rain-El said. "Then, upon given the choice to save your life, or anothers, you chose to save the life of a man you don't even know."
"No, I don't know him." Raion sighed. "But I am friends with his daughter. An' if I'm being honest, I mainly made my choice out of a selfish whim, to keep her from being that sad."
"An' you believe she wouldn't be heart broken, if you were to die instead?" Death asked.
"I'm her GI, we barely know each other. So I doubt she'd shed too many tears over my death." Raion said.
"Foolish words, from a noble man." Rain-El chuckled. "I once thought along the same way as you, but learned too late in life, that was not the case."
Rain-El raised his hand, and in doing so, the generator in the center of the Great Hall opened up, and out came a mens circlet, comprised of some sort of metal, with gems decorating the outside, and a large blue sapphire in the center.
"This is my crown Raion Kal-El." Rain-El said, making it float over Raion's head, before it began gently floating down. "I am no longer among the living, so as my coronation gift to you, I shall give my soul to Death, in exchange for your restoration."
Death just sighed, before he looked at Raion with a shrug.
"If that's what it takes to claim this Kryptonian's soul, then so be it." Death said, putting his hand on Raion's head, right under the circlet.
In a near instant, Raion's body was restored to what it was, before he'd used Primal Berserker. He felt fresh and rejuvenated, and got to his feet, with the circlet raising higher into the air.
"Kneel, and bow your head." Rain-El instructed.
Not wanting to disobey the orders of his ancestor, Raion took and knee, while bowing his head to Rain-El.
"I Rain-El, hereby pass on the throne of Menagerie, to my successor, Raion Kal-El, son of Kara Zor-El." Rain-El stated, before planting the circlet forming on Raion's head. "May your reign as ruler, be forever fruitful, and prosperous, under the guidance of my right hand advisor, Ozma."
Just as Rain-El finished with his announcement, Death took the soul of the Kryptonian, satisfied to finally have claimed it.
"Congratulations your highness." Death said, as the entire cavern of the underground castle began to shake. "You've just turned the world upside down on its head."
