"I'm sorry we weren't able to ask Gabriel anything about your father." I tell Drew as Dean pulls the Impala into Bobby's junkyard.
"Me too, but that whole thing was crazy and there wasn't any time for anything and the freaking Devil is REAL and you're like his antichrist?!" He replied in one burst. He managed to keep his cool up until now since he seemed comfortable enough to finally freak out. Sam and Dean gave us weird looks.
"He's traveling with you and he didn't even know who you are?" Dean looked at Drew curiously.
"There really wasn't time for anything last night, you know," I reminded him. Dean raised his eyebrows and nodded. "And I'm not the antichrist thankfully."
"Before we go inside," Sam changed the subject. "Gabriel gave us something he told us to hang onto." He pulls out what looks like some kind of... oh man, it's more of that Casa Erotica crap. A DVD is inside the case so Sam gets his laptop from the trunk and sets up the DVD. We disturbingly start watching some kind of pornographic film but there really wasn't-
Gabriel shows up in a mustache and I finally look away. I'll never un-see that. When he calls out Dean and Sam's names I look back to resume watching, and Gabriel is talking to the camera, knowing we would be the intended viewers. He admits this video would only be released upon his death which confirms it. I sigh heavily as Sam puts a hand on my shoulder to comfort me. Gabriel continues with explaining that it's possible to put Lucifer back into his Cage if we can trick him into it, and the keys to open the Cage are the rings of the Four Horsemen.
"We've already got War and Famine's," Dean pointed out. "We can go after the other two."
"I'll help with Pestilence," I offered. "But Death? No. You guys are on your own for that. I am terrified of him."
"Also, Lynn if you're watching too," Gabriel continued in the video, getting my attention. "Thank you for proving that I can trust you, and if Drew's there tell him his dad was always proud of him."
"Was," Drew repeated. "So he's dead too then."
"This just keeps sucking more and more," Dean groaned. "Sorry about your dad."
"Thanks but I don't think I ever met him." Drew shrugged.
Sam closed the laptop and proceeded to get inside Bobby's. Dean follows and I look at Drew. "Do you want to go home?"
"Really?" He said in surprise. "Isn't there more fighting to do?"
"Let's just say I most likely have an upset not-boyfriend at home who's been wondering where the hell I've been," I admitted. "And then I'm going to..." I waited until the other two were long gone into Bobby's. "Go to the place Gabriel put in my head." I finished.
"That's right," Drew remembered. "Well... okay. I'll go home. Will I ever see you again?"
"Didn't you ask me that yesterday?" I laughed a little. "Of course you will, if that's what you'd want."
Drew nods. "I think I would like that, and I also want to go home so my mom knows I'm okay."
"Alright then, I think you can do this now," I suggested. "The way I taught myself was that I channeled my power kind of in my head you know? I think of where I want to go and it just happens."
"I'll do my best," Drew leaned forward on his cane and closed his eyes.
"For now it's best if I don't know exactly how to get to your home right now." I admitted in an awkward voice.
Drew kept his eyes closed as he figured out why. "Your Not-Boyfriend also gets jealous?"
"I can't confirm that for sure but from how he is towards me, it's a pretty accurate assumption he would be."
"I guess you'll find out when you get-" Drew didn't finish because he disappeared. I nod and grin to myself that he finally figured out how to fly. I look around the scrapyard for a moment before I head towards Bobby's front door. I'm not going to drag Drew into this Apocalypse crap. That poor kid seems like he has gone through enough already. While entering Bobby's house I announce that I'll just be heading home before the next big adventure.
"Sorry about Gabriel," Sam says to me politely. I simply nod at him before I fly home to the Germany mountains. I take a moment to myself before I enter the front door as casually as I could, removing my shoes and undoing my ponytail. I can see Tei sitting on the long white sofa, staring at me very angrily.
"I'm home," I said normally.
"Welcome home," Tei said very unwelcome like. "Where have you been? It shouldn't have taken you that long to recover."
"Gabriel's dead," I told him first. "And you're not going to question me. I'm going to question you okay? How did you know Gabriel? Don't lie to me either, he proved that he knew you." I said sternly, settling on one of the loveseats by the sofa.
Tei's orange colored eyes widened quickly before they narrowed. "I see." He said unamusingly. "How did he die?"
"Lucifer."
"You were there-?" Tei was already angry enough but apparently not.
"I was but Gabriel made me promise to leave." I half-lied, already protecting whatever secret I would unveil soon.
"Will you let me see what happened? I promise I will tell you about Gabriel." Tei asked, lightening his voice.
I gulped a little bit, wondering if he'd see my time with Drew or even Gabriel telling me he was going to do something Tei couldn't see. Next I sighed and moved from the loveseat to the sofa. As soon as Tei held out his hand to me I firmly took it and said, "I'm sorry I left you in the dark about everything, but it was all a mess and it all just happened."
"I'll let you have this one since I seem to have so many secrets," Tei said quietly, closing his eyes as he focused on my memories of everything that has happened since Dean blasted me with the angel sigil. I wait several moments and he doesn't really react. I decide to lean in and hug him tightly; he's so focused on what happened maybe he won't pay attention to right now. Now that I have to keep a secret from Tei, maybe I can understand why he kept so many from me. However is it all really in my best interest as Gabriel said? As Tei might say?
"You seem to have a knack for finding others like us," Tei said with a vague smile. Crap, he sees Drew. Fortunately Tei just hugged me back as he opened his eyes. "If Michael has a vessel then their fight should happen soon." He realized.
"You know I'll be willing to fight you if you keep me from trying to stop that fight?" I reminded him, pulling away just a little.
"I'm aware," he rolled his eyes. "But you'll lose, love."
"We'll see about that," I caressed his cheek for a moment to surprise him. "Can you tell me about Gabriel now?"
"Very well," Tei began, leaning back against the sofa. "During the time before I was put to sleep, there was a very long war that Gabriel led against those who were like me. He murdered many of them."
I could tell he wasn't making that up. "And you were a survivor?" I acknowledged.
Tei actually laughed. "Something like that."
I let out a stretch before I stood up from the sofa. "I've got an errand to run for Gabriel after I wash up and I need to go alone." I announced. I'm met with Tei just glaring at me.
"I know you like that Drew boy," he started. "But not more than me. I know it and you know it."
"That's not where I'm going," I scowled. "This is a real favor for Gabriel."
"You're not going after Lucifer?" Tei assumed next.
"I wouldn't do that alone," I shakenly admitted. "Can you get me a phone while I'm gone?"
"Yes love."
"Thank you. I will try to be back as soon as I can." I leaned down to hug him again before I headed upstairs to the restroom to wash up a bit before leaving for real. I'm very shocked at how much freedom Tei's letting me have without a fight. Maybe he was respecting Gabriel's death and giving me space, or trying to trust me more. A few minutes later I fly away, leaving my Germany home once again.
I'm going to the location Gabriel seared into my brain. Now I'm standing in front of a very nice but very casual middle-class house. I could tell I was now in the state of Virginia. I gulp, remembering Gabriel's words. If anything happens to me for real - the location I gave you. Look after them okay? I'm entrusting them onto you.
I don't think I honestly need to breathe, but right now I felt like I couldn't anyway as I knocked on the door of the house shakily. In mere seconds I could hear some unlocking. The door swung open and immediately I felt like my heart dropped down into my stomach. A young boy stood before me and I just widened my eyes at him. I couldn't speak. "Who are you?" He asked me, slightly tilting his head so some of his sandy blonde hair strands fell down.
I quivered and tried so hard to talk but I couldn't. I think I shook my head without realizing it and my eyes began to feel watery. The boy doesn't say anything more, but a second voice from behind comes up to the door. "Danny, you know you're not supposed to answer the door when Mom's not..." The voice stopped when it reached the door and it was a young girl who actually looked just like the boy. I believe they could be twins, but they had separate eye colors. The girl had matching sandy blonde hair and hers was long, but she had chocolate colored eyes and the boy had bright blue eyes.
I also believe these are Gabriel's children he entrusted onto me.
"What's going on?" The girl asked, confused by the absolute silence.
"My name is Lynn," I forced myself to say and apparently it was all I needed to.
Both Danny and the girl began to panic immediately. "No, no, no!" The girl shrieked. Danny shoves past her back into the house, and I hear something shattering moments later. The girl starts crying horribly and that's when I lose it too, confirming my suspicions. Gabriel has secret children.
"I'm so sorry." I try to tell the sobbing girl.
She wipes her eyes with her arm before she kicks away the salt line that's been at the door the entire time. I blink in mild confusion as she steps back to let me in. I take it as a good sign and enter the house. The girl grabs a can of salt nearby and fixes the line at the door. We hear another shatter within the house. "Is he breaking stuff?" I assumed.
"Yeah that's Danny, he gets very angry sometimes," the girl admitted. "I'll give him a few minutes but if he breaks one more thing I'm going up there. I'm Mindy by the way." She introduced. Her eyes were so red from crying it broke my heart on repeat.
"Mindy, I'm so glad to meet you but I wish it were under better circumstances," I admitted to Mindy, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm not sure if this will help but I can relate. My father was killed the same way."
Mindy sniffled. "By Dad's brother?" She realized, and I nodded. "I hate him so much!" She growled, gritting her teeth.
"Me too," I agreed just as we heard another shatter upstairs. "Take some time to yourself, Mindy. I'll go talk to him."
"Thanks Cousin." Mindy let out another sniffle as I took my hand off her shoulder and went for the stairs, realizing what she just called me. The irony of it all is that it's true, Archangels had children and we're cousins. I take one step up before I take a quick look back at Mindy, who trailed off into the living room to gather herself.
I'm never going to let anything happen to them.
I find Danny in a bedroom with the door open, presumably his. "Hey Danny," I started casually. He was sulking down, hugging his knees facing away from me. "I know you're upset but you're upsetting your sister even more by breaking things."
"I don't care," he let out in that pre-teen attitude I remember JD having, so this was easy for me.
"Yes you do and you don't mean that. You're just emotional." I corrected him.
"Can you just go away?!" Danny turned his head to yell at me, and I saw his eyes were just as red as Mindy's.
"No can do," I shook my head. "It's my job to look after you guys now so I'm not leaving until I know you're better."
What started off as hateful glares turned into heartbreak as Danny turned back and stood up. "He's really gone, isn't he?"
"I'm sorry." I said to him quietly.
"And you're really Cousin Lynn?" He wondered.
What is it about this cousin thing they're so keen on? "That's me. Have you guys always known about me?"
Danny shook his head. "Only for a few years. Dad said we couldn't meet you because he couldn't find you."
"I was very well hidden," I admitted, rubbing the back of my neck. I heard Mindy approach from behind so I stepped over to let her in.
"You okay?" She asked her brother, no longer sniffling but still looking sad.
Danny shook his head again and went up to hug her. I'm glad they're not as upset anymore and-
"Group hug!" They both turned and literally jumped at me, pulling me into a hug with them. They started laughing so I did too.
"Hey so... were you guys expecting me? Once I told you who I was, it seemed like you knew what happened." I asked curiously, pulling away after.
"Yeah we were, but we were hoping Dad would be with you," Danny answered. "He told us that if you came alone then that meant-" He closed his eyes and grimaced to avoid crying again.
"I understand." I simply said. I don't want to upset them any further.
"But we have a job to do now that you're here," Mindy said seriously. "There's things we need to tell you and show you now that Dad's..." She sighed and looked at the floor, but perked right back up when we all heard the front door downstairs opening.
"The door is unlocked and it shouldn't be!" We heard an adult woman scolding. "There's server errors at work so they're only keeping a ghost cr- who broke my flower pot from Uncle Carter?"
Mindy and Danny immediately fled downstairs. I followed them but they were really fast. I reached the top of the stairs to head down as Mindy and Danny were telling the lady I was here. She looked to be in her early thirties with long blonde hair in a ponytail and light blue eyes that practically matched Danny's. She has to be their mother. She began crying softly and I once again felt heartbreak for these guys.
"Did Gabe say anything to you?" She asked me as I hit the ground step and went over to them. "Other than how to get here?"
"Just that he entrusted them onto me." I nod at the children.
The mom quivered and so did Mindy. "My name's Carrie," she introduced. "And I think I am going to bake cookies, yes I am." She decided, heading into the kitchen. I remain silent even though I'm pretty confused.
"Mom bakes when she's stressed out," Danny clarified for me. "Want to sit down? We have a lot to tell you."
"No lessons today!" Carrie yelled out from the kitchen. "And I'm ordering takeout for lunch."
I look at the twins again. "She's just as upset as you guys, isn't she?" I asked and they both nodded slowly. They usher me over to a grey colored couch and the three of us pile on. It's very comfortable actually. "Can I ask if they were together? Your parents?" I asked next.
"Not really, but they were before we were born," Mindy replied. "Dad's always been around though."
"I'm thankful he was," I said sincerely. "So what exactly do you need to tell and show me?" I then wondered aloud. I watch the twins both think for a moment before they smacked their fist down on their palm after coming up with an answer at the same time. That was the strangest twin-thing I've ever seen happen.
"Do you know what Danny and I are?" Mindy questioned me.
"Angels yeah?" I quickly assumed.
"Half," Mindy said. "And we're half human. Not Mom, she's human."
"We're Nephilim," Danny announced to me and I gasped.
"There's a term for that?!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah why? Have you met a Nephilim before?" Danny assumed.
"I just did," I admitted. I feel confident I can trust these two so I'll tell them. "He lives in New York."
"Wow, Dad never told us there were more of us." Mindy said in shock.
"How old are you two?" I quickly asked. I've been wanting to know since I got here anyway.
"We're almost twelve," Danny answered. "How about you?"
Oh, this is a tough one. "I'm not human so I don't think I'm actually the age I thought I was," I admitted. "But I have been using this vessel ever since her birth fifteen years ago, so if you want to treat me like I'm fifteen I'll accept it."
"Wait a minute," Mindy raised one eye. "You've definitely met a Nephilim before us and the guy you just talked about! It's your boyfriend!"
"How do you know I have-" I cut myself off because of what I almost said, but also because I was relieved I could finally unclear some of Tei's mysteries.
"Thanks for not bringing him by the way," Danny tells me. "I was going to fight him if you did."
"You were not," Mindy rolled her eyes. "Dad made sure Lynn wouldn't bring him anyway remember? And we have to show her the Block."
"The Block?" I repeated.
"That's what we call it! Dad helped us learn a Nephilim trick to teach you to use on your boyfriend," Mindy explained. "You'll be able to keep anything you want in your head hidden from his special power."
Gabriel must have really hated Tei if he warned them about his abilities. "I'll do anything to protect you both so please teach me." I begged.
"Sure thing," the twins exclaimed followed by Danny adding, "Your boyfriend is a different kind of Nephilim by the way. Not a normal one I guess? Maybe like a double Nephilim."
"What does that even mean?" I asked as Mindy gestured me to hold out my hand. From the kitchen I could hear Carrie on the phone ordering the takeout, presumably Chinese based on some of what I heard her ask for. I don't mind it and my human dad loved it so we had it a lot growing up.
"His mom wasn't just a human," Mindy spoke. "Dad said she was a Nephilim."
This information baffles me. I never thought to suspect that Tei's mother Laena was anything but just a human. Mindy holds my hand tightly and her big and beautiful brown eyes start glowing a faint silver. In a moment I feel her power coursing with mine and it was just like that, I've now learned their named technique 'Block' and deep down it bothers me that I now have a weapon against someone I love very much.
Yes I said it, oh well.
"Also Lynn is it true he's been with you your whole life?" Danny asked me in a hushed voice afterwards.
"My life here on Earth yes," I confirmed. "I don't remember anything before that."
The twins both shared a concerning glance with each other. "What?" I asked curiously.
"Hold still, I have something to show you." Mindy held her entire arm up and she started using so much angelic power her hair was being blown back. As for me I was no longer on their couch, now out somewhere on an empty street on a long stretch of nowhere.
"Hey kiddo," I heard Gabriel's voice from left of me so I turned to see exactly him. "Before you go jumping for joy just think of this as another pre-recorded video, but live this time." He explained.
"I understand," I said quietly. "What's going on though?"
"Something I want to tell you about your pet boyfriend, well not just him but it's something that can happen to all Nephilim."
My emerald colored eyes have widened. "What is it?"
"Sometimes if they meet someone they can leave a celestial imprint on them," Gabriel admitted. "And it is a physical imprint that's invisible to the naked eye but it can be seen if you say the magic words."
"What are the magic words?" I cross my arms over my chest.
"I'll tell you in a second Miss Impatient," Gabriel scolded. "Here's the thing about those imprints, a Nephilim can only do it once to my knowledge."
"During the war when you killed a bunch of them?" I glared at my dead Archangel uncle.
"How the hell do you- ah, crap. I'm not proud of that you know? Please don't tell Danny and Mindy."
"Of course I won't." I promised.
Gabriel sighed in relief and continued. "Also, after they imprint if they're away from you for too long they'll start going crazy."
"What is this, a Stephenie Meyer story?" I asked in absolute sarcasm.
"Those books are disgusting," Gabriel scowled. "Besides this way is much creepier than that. The imprint allows them to be able to track you and know what you're feeling and all that fun crap... IF they're aware of the imprint."
"Gabriel, are you trying to tell me-" I started.
"Yeah kiddo. You need to find out if Teivel imprinted on you, and if he did you need to make sure he never finds out. He's dangerous Lynn, I hope you'll see that before it's too late."
I gulped. If this is what has happened to me, then Tei is not aware of it. He couldn't find me for months while I traveled with the Winchesters and Bobby. "Also please don't let the twins even find out they can do that. It's safer for them not to know." Gabriel added last.
"I completely agree." I said after a swallow. Finally Gabriel tells me the magic words to check for the imprint and then this entire vision Mindy projected onto me ended.
"Did whatever our dad say help at all?" Danny rightly assumed.
"It did, but I feel like I need to rest now," I said quite strangely. I felt very overwhelmed and maybe even a little sick from all that I have taken in the last couple of days.
"Oh sure, we have a guest-" Mindy had started to say but stopped when they saw I already zonked myself to sleep right their on their couch.
