Jedi Kyle Katarn: Yes, i know they did. But that was in like 7 ABY. This is way after that, and a much different campaign. As for your questions, yes Kyle Katarn will appear. Also, if you look at a map of the Star Wars galaxy, the wormhole between galaxies is just "south-east" of Teth.

Chapter 24- Training

(June 12, 2049)

Within a dark cave, Kylo Ren carefully makes his way through the cave, his lightsaber ignited as he awaits the next challenge in his path. Kylo had been rescued, grudgingly, by General Hux during the destruction of Starkiller Base, and had had to take a few days to recover from the wounds his cousin Ben had inflicted on him. However, he had used those wounds and the pain from them to fuel his strength in the dark side and increase his strength. Now, he has resumed his training.

As Kylo comes around the corner, he hears a loud growl. Emerging into a larger space, Kylo's blood chills as he sees the massive form of a terentatek ahead of him. The terentatek bellows as it sees him and begins lumbering towards him.

Kylo takes a step back as he readies himself to face the beast as it lumbers towards him. The terentatek raises its claws to strike him, Kylo leaps into action.

Kylo bounds forward and slides beneath the terentatek, slicing at its leg, causing the beast to howl. However, the terentatek turns around and whacks Kylo with the back of his hand, sending him flying into the wall of the cave. Kylo growls in pain as he gets back to his feet, brandishing his saber.

The terentatek moves towards Kylo, but Kylo leaps up over it on its head. He almost stumbles back onto the poisonous spines on the beast's back, but manages to avoid doing it. He then shifts his grip on his saber, and before the terentatek can throw him off, he swings his saber down and drives the blade into its eye. The terentatek roars in pain, but Kylo forces his saber into the eye all the way up to the hilt before ripping it out and jumping off its head. The terentatek bellows for a moment longer before it collapses, dead.

Kylo breathes heavily for a moment before he hears the sound of grinding rocks. He looks around and sees one of the walls of the cave opening up. A moment later, a large gap opens up, and a moment later, Snoke comes walking through the gap. A towering figure, Snoke is dressed in a golden robe. As he looks down at Kylo, the large scar on his face seems to almost make itself seem more vivid.

"You killed the beast," Snoke says, as if starting to praise Kylo. Then, his force contorts in disdain as he says, "Yet you allowed the beast to strike you, and you almost fell onto the spines on its back."

Kylo angrily gets up, his saber at his side. However, Snoke raises a hand and lets out a burst of Force lightning that knocks Kylo back in pain. "Had you been in a duel with Skywalker, you would have been struck down in a moment! For years you have trained, with the Knights of Ren and under me. And yet still, you allow yourself to make such mistakes."

Kylo lies on the ground, staring up at Snoke. Snoke stares down at him for a moment before turning away and saying, "Come. We seem to have much more to do than I thought."

Kylo looks at Snoke's back as he walks away. As he watches Snoke walk away, he feels a fresh surge of anger and hate for Snoke. For a moment, he allows himself to fantasize about attacking Snoke and finally killing him, but he quickly disperses that thought, knowing how easily Snoke can read his mind and not wanting to risk Snoke turning on him and trying to kill him for even entertaining the thought. One day, the moment will come. But today is not that day.

(Ahch-To)

As the sun shines down on Temple Island on Ahch-To, the sunlight gleams off the hull of the Millenium Falcon. It's been taken very good care of for the time it's spent here, except for the couple of porgs that have started nesting on it.

Next to it, a mud and seaweed covered X-Wing rests on the ground. Various panels around the X-Wing have been removed to access the interior parts. Chewie is standing next to the starboard engines, tinkering with a few parts.

After Ben and Rey had come to the island and reunited with Luke, Luke had finally raised his X-Wing from the sea where he had left it. Luke had left it in the sea since he realized he couldn't repair it. But that had changed.

Chewie had had his own reunion with Luke, who was glad to see the Wookiee again. Then, as Luke had begun training with Rey, Chewie had been asked to get to work repairing the X-Wing. The Falcon had a large number of spare parts aboard. So, ever since he had been asked to do so, Chewie had been working on repairing the X-Wing.

Chewie hears R2 beeping and looks over as R2 rolls up, carrying some of the parts he needs. Chewie growls and barks in thanks as he takes the parts, then climbs under the engine to continue working.

As R2 rolls around to help with his welding torch, higher up on the island, within the confines of the Temple itself, Rey is resting cross-legged on a stone seat, eyes closed and hands resting on her knees as she meditates deep into the Force.

Ben is sitting on another stone seat, but watching his father, who is standing in front of Rey, watching her.

Finally, Luke speaks up and asks, "What do you see?"

"I see…everything. The moss, the rocks that make the cliffs, the waves the beat upon the shore, the birds that soar through the air. And the Force, interconnecting all of them," Rey says, eyes still closed. In what's been a few weeks for them here on Ahch-To, Rey has been learning a lot. She has been learning a lot about not only what the Force is, but how to use it.

Luke had been surprised at how easily some certain Force abilities had come to Rey. She had a strength in the Force that astonished him.

"Good. Continue to meditate," Luke says. He then looks at Ben and motions for his son to follow him.

Luke and Ben make their way out of the main chamber and onto a ledge outside the chamber overlooking the sea. Luke looks at Ben and asks, "Ben, do you really think she can be as strong as one of our family?"

"Positive, dad. I can feel it from her," Ben says. One ability that comes extremely naturally to him is being able to sense someone's strength in the Force. "She has a natural Force strength that is incredible. The only people outside our family I've sensed with close to such raw potential are Anakin Hall and Jared Hansen. She's special, Dad. I don't know if it's because she has powerful Force sensitivity in her ancestry or if she's just a chance blessing of the Force, but she has incredible power." He smiles a bit, then says, "I think she'll probably take your place one day, Dad." The two of them laugh a bit.

Luke and Ben stand there together for a few moments before Luke looks his son right in the eyes and says, "Ben, I know I've said it before, but I am truly sorry I left for so long. I didnt want to just leave you and your mother, but I felt I had to come here. I felt I'd never stop Jacen or Snoke if I couldn't learn whatever secrets were held here. And, I'll admit, I never expected to be away for so long."

"I know, Dad. It was just…hard to deal with you being away for so long. I missed so many years with you, and missed several milestones with me, dad. I needed you there, and it was tough for me to deal with having you gone. I'm not angry with you at all, but it is a burden I've had to deal with," Ben responds.

"I know, Ben. But, as much as I regret you having to go through such trials because of my actions for so many years and my failures, I hope that you are able to see this burden as a way to strengthen yourself…and to learn empathy. I have learned that empathy is one of the greatest gifts a Jedi can have, but one that Jedi do not often have in the measure they should," Luke says.

"You're right, Dad," Ben says. He and Luke then reach out and embrace each other for a minute before they finally separate and head back into the chamber.

As they enter, Rey opens her eyes and turns to them. Luke looks at her and says, "Rey, we have spent a lot of time teaching you about the Force. While that is the most important thing for you to learn about, I think it is finally time for me to test you in how to handle a lightsaber, and instruct you on how to properly use one."

"I've been meaning to say," Rey begins to speak. She then takes the lightsaber wielded by Luke and by his father before him and holds it out towards Ben. "The lightsaber called to me to show me the power that slept inside me. But I don't believe I'm the one meant to wield it. Ben, I think it belongs to you. I think you should take it, and I need to build my own."

Ben looks at her for a moment, then at his father. Luke just smiles and nods. Ben then looks back at Rey and says, "Alright. But not until we leave this place. While we're here, you can use it when we're training. Once we leave, we'll get you your own saber."

Rey nods in agreement. Then, Luke says, "Well, why don't we do some simple tests now?" He then draws his own saber, which he has not activated for 6 years, and ignites it, it's green blade springing to life.

Rey nods as she stands up and ignites the Skywalker saber, settling into a combat stance. Luke smiles and says, "Alright. I just want to test you a little bit. Just to see what you can do. So, come at me."

"Are you sure?" Rey asks.

"Trust me. You won't be able to touch me. Just let me see what you can do," Luke says with a smile. Rey sighs a bit, then moves forward to attack Luke, wanting to impress him, but also knowing she's about to get beaten badly.

And, I'll end there. I mostly just wanted to show a bit of Kylo Ren training under Snoke, and a little bit of what is happening on Ahch-To.

So, yes, Ben will end up wielding both of his grandfathers' lightsabers, and Rey will be wielding a lightsaber of her own creation. And no, it won't be the one we saw her use at the end of The Rise of Skywalker, although I'm not dishing on that design. I actually liked it, because it was different. However, I'm going with another design that I think will work even better.

Next chapter will start a two or three chapter arc about a major battle in the war. It will also be after a fairly decent time jump.
