Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.
Let's get to it.
MR11- Yes, I did hear. Unsure if I'll include a reference.
Rico: Nope, not a Zelda-Star Wars crossover. Just a nod to the Zelda franchise. However, I'm not ruling out one day writing a Zelda-Star Wars crossover completely unconnected to this series. I also had a chapter directly written about Operation Cinder in Terran Alliance Strikes Back, so I didn't think I had to mention it here. As for Jedi Survivor references, maybe one or two, but I'm not sure about featuring the planet Tanalorr.
MatbeK01: In this, the Elves are similar to the Elves from LOTR or Light Elves from Marvel. The Lortirians are basically large humanoid lizards. Their home planets are Alfenon and Lortir, and have been in the Alliance since before the Galactic Civil War.
tristian5: I'll explain the differences more in story, but I'll say the differences are some differences in their weaponry, newer and more advanced systems, and improvements to their armor.
Jack: True, but she's an Elf, so she's from the planet Alfenon.
Chapter 36- A Plan
(February 25, 2050)
Rey breathes a sigh of relief as the airliner finally stops at its gate at JFK Airport. After a 5 and a half hour flight from Guyana, they're finally back in the States.
Over the last few months, Ben and his parents, assisted by Ahsoka, have been doing their best to train Rey to be a full-fledged Jedi Knight. Rey had been learning incredibly well, and seemed a natural with the Force. Of course, she still had to overcome many hurdles, and breaking down her sense of pride was one of them. But she was making great progress.
Over the last two weeks, Rey and Ben had gone on an extended training trip in the jungles of Guyana in South America. They had brought only tents, sleeping bags, changes of clothes, their weapons, and an emergency radio with them before being dropped off deep in the jungle. For the following two weeks, they had spent their days in the jungle, living off the land and teaching Rey survival techniques while using the peacefulness and isolation of the jungle to meditate deep into the Force and refine Rey's teaching. They had finally made their way on foot back to the capitol of Guyana, Georgetown, and caught a flight back to New York.
Rey and Ben stand up and start pulling their bags down from the overhead compartment. Thankfully, with them being seated in first class, they'll be off the plane shortly. Rey looks at Ben and says, "Even though I've lived on Jakku all my life and spending these two weeks in Guyana was not too hard, I am so glad to be returning to civilization."
"You and me both," Ben responds as he sets his bag down and waits patiently for the doors to the plane to open.
It's less than a minute before the hatch is opened, and the flight attendants gesture for people to begin deplaning. Ben and Rey are some of the first people off the plane. The two are silent as they walk up the jetway into the terminal. As they enter the terminal and turn to head towards baggage claim, Rey turns and asks Ben, "Your parents are going to meet us here, right?"
"Last I checked," Ben responds.
The two make their way through the terminal and take the escalator down into the baggage claim area. As they step off the escalator, they both smile brightly as they finally see Luke and Kelly up ahead, travellers in the area staring at them in awe, recognizing them with ease.
"Hello, parental figures!" Ben calls out in a joking tone. Luke rolls his eyes a bit in response as he and Kelly walk over to greet Ben and Rey.
"It's good to see you too, Ben," Luke says as he embraces his son. The two share a few laughs before separating and letting Ben hug his mother.
After Kelly and Ben separate, Kelly turns to Rey and gives her a hug as well. "Welcome back, Rey," she says warmly to the young woman.
"Thank you," Rey says gratefully.
As they separate, Kelly asks the two, "How was your trip, you two?"
"Very productive," Ben answers, "I think we were really able feel truly in tune with the Force, and I think our training was even more effective than we thought." He pauses for a moment, and then chuckles as he says, "I also think that Rey and I now both agree that we prefer catfish from the Amazon than the catfish you can get here in the States."
The four of them all chuckle before Luke says, "Let's go grab your bag, and then we'll get going." Ben and Rey nod and lead the way over to the carousel labelled with their flight number. It doesn't take long for their suitcase containing most of their gear they had taken into the jungle to come up the carousel. Ben picks it up off the carousel, and the four of them all head out of the terminal to head for the parking garage where Luke and Kelly parked their car.
As they reach the car, Kelly smiles at Rey and asks, "Do you want to drive, Rey?"
Rey shakes her head. "No thank you, if it's all the same," she responds. Rey had gotten her driver's license since coming to Earth, but she was still not quite used to it. She also hated driving in traffic as it made her a little nervous.
Kelly chuckles and says, "Alright, we'll give you a pass this time." She then climbs into the driver's seat. Rey and Ben climb into the back as Luke gets in the passenger seat. Kelly starts it up and heads out of the garage.
"So, has there been anything major that's happened while we were gone? Any news to share?" Ben asks as they pull out of the airport and onto the freeway.
Luke turns in his seat, and Ben and Rey can see the serious look on his face. "As a matter of fact, yes, and I'd been intending to bring it up with you after your return. I'm glad we're discussing it so quick," he says. He pauses for a moment, then says, "We just received a report from intelligence agents in Andromeda. Not only have the Pykes begun major drug smuggling operations to support the First Order, but our agents have also just reported that they have discovered that the Hutts have thrown their support behind the First Order and have been helping them for a short time by supplying them with extra weapons, wealth, and manpower."
Both Ben and Rey feel their spirits fall a bit upon hearing this. Ben quickly voices what both of them are thinking as he says, "Well, that's not good. That about nullifies the advantage that we got when Uncle Calvin recruited Boba Fett and his gotra."
"Exactly," Luke responds.
Ben and Rey are quiet as they muse over this. The Hutts and Pykes joining the First Order is a serious blow and is only going to make it that much harder to prevail over them.
(That evening)
Ben sighs a bit as he pokes the fire with a stick to tend it before tossing the stick itself into the flames. He then sits down in a camping chair next to it and looks across the fire to Rey, who is staring into the flames, deep in thought.
The two are now at the Skywalker home in West Virginia. Luke and Kelly have turned in for the night. Ben and Rey, not yet tired enough to sleep, had decided to sit around the fire and roast hot dogs and marshmallows to snack on as time passes. However, Ben has noticed how quiet Rey has been for some time, thinking deeply.
Finally, Ben pipes up and asks, "What's on your mind, Rey? You've not said anything for at least half an hour."
Rey looks up at Ben, the flames painting her customary white desert outfit in an orange hue. "I was thinking about what your father told us, with the Hutts and the Pykes. With the advantage they give the First Order, we need to strike a blow against the First Order that can help nullify that advantage."
"What were you thinking?" Ben asks.
Rey pauses for a second, then says, "We know that Kylo Ren was intrigued by my strength in the Force, and I think he intended to take me to their leader, Snoke. I doubt their interest in me has waned since then." She pauses again, then says, "What if…what if we use me as a tool to get to them? I could return to the galaxy and deliberately try to get their attention and turn myself in to them when Kylo Ren comes for me. You could then track me back to Snoke's location, and we can strike a blow right at the First Order's leadership."
Ben looks at Rey in surprise, not having expected her to come up with such an idea. After a moment, he says, "Rey, you realize the many problems that come with such a plan? If anything goes wrong, you could die or end up a permanent prisoner of the First Order."
"Perhaps. But I'm willing to take that risk. If we can strike a blow against the First Order, especially if it leads to the death of Snoke, it's worth it," Rey insists.
Ben is quiet for a moment before he says, "If you are insisting on this, I know better than to try and stop you. But I'm going to make sure you're as ready for this before we even attempt this."
Rey nods, and Ben answers it with his own, his mind running like crazy. This plan is absolutely insane, but if it goes just right, it could work.
And, I'll end there. I know, short chapter, but important.
Also, quick note. I've never been to JFK Airport, so don't jump down my throat and tell me I missed some details about my description of it.
So, this is obviously going to lead to the confrontation with Snoke. And yes, it will be heavily based off the same sequence from The Last Jedi, the only other part of the movie I'll be basing something in this story.
Alright, next chapter will be up soon. Until it is, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
