Chapter 75- Continued Advance

(July 17 2052)

The night is far from peaceful on the planet of Toydaria. The night is torn apart by the explosions of artillery and bombs, the flashes of millions of blaster bolts, the crack of rifle fire, and the shriek of fighter engines.

Over the capitol city of Toydaria, a Mustang streaks low amidst the buildings of the city, firing its laser cannons at targets on the ground with incredible accuracy. In the cockpit, Daniel Malka has a confident smile as he weaves his way through the buildings, taking out troopers and fortified positions with precision laser fire.

The invasion of Toydaria was the most recent step in Operation Overlord II. In the galactic "south", the Alliance had liberated Bothan Space and was driving towards Falleen. Galactic forces led by the Resistance were massing near Mandalore to begin a campaign in that area. And the bulk of the allied fleet was driving into Hutt Space. Here, their alliance with Boba Fett had proved very useful, as Fett had been able to use his influence to sway more criminal efforts to supporting the Alliance's push, weakening the hold of the Hutts and other criminal organizations in the region.

The attack on Toydaria was one of two simultaneous attacks in Hutt Space. The other was an attack on the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta. For the latter, there was no landing, only airstrikes and orbital bombardments to devastate the planet and destroy the Hutt Cartel's ability to operate and support the First Order, as well as just to deter the Hutts from further interference in the war.

Daniel, along with the rest of the Hammers, had been sent to participate in the invasion of Toydaria instead of the attack on Nal Hutta, as their precision at air-to-ground strikes would be much more helpful on Toydaria. With the First Order fleet seriously weakened, the squadron had been sent down to the surface to provide close air support and keep TIE bombers away from the troops on the ground.

As Daniel pulls up slightly to loop around for another run, his radio crackles to life. "Daniel, you've got a TIE coming in on you. 5 o clock." Daniel looks back at his 5 o clock, and sees a solitary TIE fighter coming in on him.

Daniel snaps his stick into his gut and turns his Mustang tightly towards the incoming TIE fighter. As he's almost gotten his nose around, the TIE fighter starts firing his laser cannons at Daniel's fighter. Daniel immediately stomps the rudder and jerks back on the stick, and his Mustang barrel rolls up to avoid the incoming laser fire. Then, while still upside down, Daniel fires his own laser cannons in return, and the TIE fighter explodes.

Daniel snaps his fighter around as soon as the TIE explodes and makes another low run over the city. As he scans the city below him, looking for targets to hit, he passes over a courtyard not far from the royal palace, and as he looks down into the courtyard, he can just see the flashing lights of clashing lightsabers. He silently sends optimistic thoughts down before refocusing on his pass.

As Daniel's Mustang streaks over the courtyard, down in the center of the courtyard, Kylo Ren snarls as he charges once more at his foe. He slashes wildly at hs opponent's head, but his saber is blocked at every strike. After several strikes, he locks sabers with his opponent, the two struggling against each other.

"You will never win. I am a master of the dark side," Kylo Ren growls.

Opposite him, Jared Hansen grins confidently at Kylo as he holds the Supreme Leader back. "You still are so shortsighted, young Solo," he says.

"I am not Solo!" Kylo snarls before pushing Jared back and slashing at him. However, before his saber can touch Jared, Jared stops it in midair with the Force and forces it down. Then, using a technique he developed, Jared balls up his free hand and punches Kylo in the chest, while building up the Force in his fist. And at the moment his fist connects, he releases it all in the form of a Force wave which knocks Kylo flying back through the air.

Kylo manages to get himself back on his feet. However, before he can make another move, Jared begins to raise his hand over his head. Immediately, a wind seems to pick up. Water begins to lift out of pools, and dust and rubble from the battle begin to lift off the ground. Then, Jared shoots his hand out towards Kylo, and everything starts flying at him, along with a wind that pushes against him. Kylo plants his feet and tries to shield himself, but finds it hard to stand against the maelstrom Jared is battering him with.

As he struggles, Kylo actually begins to feel some concern. Thanks to his time as one of Luke's Jedi Order, he knew Jared Hansen a long time ago, and knows that Jared had a reputation as one of the most powerful Jedi in the Terran Jedi Order, with a Force potential rivalled by only a few in either galaxy. And now, he's starting to realize just how true that reputation is.

Jared confidently smiles as he continues battering Kylo with the Force, keeping the Supreme Leader restrained. However, as it continues, Kylo's rage continues to build, rage at his inability so far to best the older Jedi Master. Finally, Kylo's rage reaches levels stronger than the attack he is being subjected to. With a roar, he lets out a massive burst of Force energy that disperses the material being thrown at him and batters at Jared, who is forced to stumble back.

Kylo charges at Jared, flinging himself at the Jedi Master as he slashes at Jared's waist, ready to cut him in half. However, Jared recovers much faster than Kylo expected and brings his saber, easily blocking Kylo's blade. The sabers crackle loudly as they clash with each other, Kylo trying to physically overpower Jared's defense, but Jared easily holding Kylo back. Jared then kicks Kylo in the knee before using another Force wave to knock Kylo away from him, putting some distance between them.

Kylo's rage rises even further, and he attacks Jared without abandon, his saber flashing around him as he strikes at Jared over and over again with incredible speed, pouring his anger into his strikes. However, Jared continues to block blow after blow, his blade flying around him in perfect Soresu. Try as he might, Kylo can't get his saber even close to Jared.

As they continue to duel, Jared never loses the confident smile on his face. Finally, he breaks the silence, still deflecting every blow aimed at him, and says, "For all your strength and rage, you still miss the most basic concepts, Solo. If you cannot accept that and learn, you will never win." Kylo only growls in response and doubles his attack, but Jared continues to resist him, knowing he probably can't attack Kylo, but knowing he can hold Kylo off for a long time.

As Kylo continues his relentless attacks against Jared, the earpiece in his helmet comes to life as one of the commanders on the planet calls over the network to him, "Supreme Leader, the Terrans are tightening their control! They have almost completely destroyed our fleet in orbit, and our garrison is on the verge of collapse. You must leave, or you will be trapped here!"

Kylo growls in anger and frustration, wanting to finish off Jared, but the two have been fighting for 15 minutes now with neither landing a hit on the other, and Jared is just angering Kylo with his continued defiance. He also realizes that the man has a point, and if he can't get off the planet in time, Terran interdiction cruisers will soon have such a wide coverage net that he won't be able to escape.

With a scream of anger, Kylo unleashes a massive Force wave, forcing Jared back a few steps. He then turns and begins to run for his TIE fighter. At the same time, a few remaining stormtroopers in the courtyard start firing at Jared, who easily protects himself and deflects all the bolts back to the troopers. He feels a little bit of frustration that Kylo is getting away, but quickly lets it waft away. Kylo can't run forever, and he'll eventually fall.

Even as Kylo is making his escape from Toydaria, in the skies over the capitol, Daniel is engaging a flight of TIE fighters that tried to come down from orbit to attack Terran troops on the ground. Already, he's shot down two of them, and is now in a dance of death with the other four.

Daniel snaps the stick in tight as two TIE fighters pull in on his tail. The TIEs fire their laser cannons wildly at Daniel, but he swerves and rolls to avoid the fire. He then snaps the stick in tight and cuts the engines back to idle. In about two seconds, he stalls and falls out of the sky. The TIE fighters, caught off guard, go streaking past his falling Mustang. Daniel then immediately shoves the throttle back up and takes off after them as he searches for a missile lock. In about two seconds, he has one, and he launches one of his missiles, which shreds the trailing TIE into flaming debris. Daniel then switches back to his gunsight, centers it on the remaining TIE, and squeezes the trigger, blowing the TIE apart. Two kills in the span of five seconds.

Daniel immediately shifts his attention to the remaining two TIE fighters as he pulls his Mustang into a high yo-yo maneuver. As he loops back around, he sees one of the two fighters coming at him head on. Before the TIE can even get a shot, Daniel centers his gunsight on the fighter and vaporizes it with a burst of laser fire.

As the debris falls from the sky, Daniel turns his attention to last remaining TIE fighter. However, as he and the fighter close on each other, out of nowhere, a small SAM rises up from the ground and blows a wing off the TIE, which goes spinning out of the sky. Daniel smiles and sends a silent thank-you to whoever fired that SAM. He then refocuses his attention back on the ground. The battle is almost over, and his close air support is still just as important as ever.

(Naboo, some time later)

"The commanders at Toydaria confirm that the planet has, for all intents and purposes, fallen. The capitol city has been secured, and King Katoro is alive. Our troops are cleaning up the last pockets of resistance."

Hearing this report, Jonathan feels a sense of relief. He had been really concerned that the First Order might try a real, concentrated effort to stop them at Toydaria, and he knew that Kylo Ren had been on the planet during the battle and had dueled Jared. Hearing that the planet has been secured is a relief.

"Fantastic. And what word about the attack on Nal Hutta?" Jonathan asks.

"Reports confirm that all starports on the planet have been destroyed, along with most major industrial infrastructure. At least two members of the Hutt Council are believed to have been killed during the airstrikes," another of his staff informs Jonathan.

"Good. And Mimban?" he asks, referring to a large nuclear strike by Terran bombers and fighters planned on a major First Order fleet that had been stationed over the planet.

"Outstanding results reported, Grand Admiral. Reports list First Order casualties at 92 warships and 60 auxiliaries. Minimal casualties among the force we sent," another staff member reports.

Jonathan feels a confident smile cross his face. In one day, the Alliance had captured Toydaria, destroyed about 200 ships of the First Order's navy, and crippled the Hutt Cartel. This is a huge step forward. And hopefully, this blow will take quite a while for the First Order to recover from, giving them a great opportunity to continue their advance.

And, I'll end the chapter there.

I hope you liked the duel between Jared and Kylo Ren. I wanted to show off a bit of Jared's skill and power, and figured this would be a great way to do it.

Now, returning to the descriptions of my original Galactic Legends in the TA version of SWGOH, here is the third one, and one that really needs to be in the actual game: Revan Reborn.

Revan Reborn is unique in that he is neither a dark side or light side aligned character, but rather has a Neutral tag. His leadership ability empowers all kinds of Force users with massive attack bonuses, and his unique ability, Reborn, grants him great synergy with Jedi, Sith, and Unaligned Force Users, granting each faction different bonuses. His attacks carry a mix of debuffs, and his ultimate, One With the Force, causes massive damage to the entire enemy team that is guaranteed to kill any non-GL characters, and cause massive damage to GLs.

Here are his requirements: Relic 9 Jedi Knight Revan, Relic 9 Darth Revan, Relic 8 Darth Malak, Relic 7 Bastila Shan, Relic 7 Bastila Shan Fallen, Relic 5 Carth Onasi, Relic 7 Jolee Bindo, Relic 6 HK-47, Relic 6 Juhani, Relic 3 T3-M4, Relic 3 Mission Vao, Relic 3 Zaalbar, Relic 7 Darth Nihilus, 6 star Leviathan, Relic 5 Canderous Ordo.
