Everything was peaceful, according to the security camera that was monitoring the lawn of the institute. As it was turning back and forth, a familiar foe to the X-Men walked up to the gates.

With a smirk and a wave of his hand, the ground started to shake as the force pushed the gates off their hinges, granting him entrance.

This set off the alarms, waking up the X-Men from their beds.

As Lance walked forward, a security camera popped out of the grass, and spotting an intruder activated a series of turrets that came out to engage him just as the X-Men finished getting into their uniforms.

Using his powers, Lance was able to knock all defenses down just as the X-Men came out to confront him.

"Something we can do for you, bub?" Wolverine flexed his claws menacingly.

"Yeah." Lance folded his arms. "I've come to join the X-Men."

This unexpected news made them look at him in disbelief. Why did Lance want to join the X-Men? This had to be a joke.

"You're kidding, right?" Kitty asked.

"You heard me; I want to be an X-Man." Lance answered honestly. "I'm serious."

"Yeah, right, and I want to be the tooth fairy." Wolverine scoffed, making the others laugh.

"Well, you're halfway there." Danny joked with his teacher. "I'm sure you've knocked out quite a number of teeth in your life, Logan."

Wolverine smirked. "That I have, bub. That I have." His slight smile was then replaced by a frown as he looked at Lance in suspicion. "Now, why are you here?"

"Now, just a minute." Xavier rolled past them to meet with their guest. "Let's hear what he has to say."

Lance was taken to Xavier's office, with most of the X-Men heading off to bed. Only Logan, Jean, Scott, Kitty, and Danny stayed.

"Alright, Lance." Xavier said from his desk. "Tell us, why do you want to join the X-Men?"

"Yeah, did Toad leave too much slime in the shower?" Danny couldn't help but let out. "Or did Blob accidentally shit in the sink instead of the toilet?"

"No, they're all right." Lance responded casually, not at all feeling intimidated by being in a room with his enemies.

"What are you up to, Lance?" Scott demanded suspiciously. "You didn't bust in just to make jokes."

"Well, I..." Lance tried to think of a good response. "Let's just say it was time for a change, okay?"

"Fair enough." Xavier replied with a smile. "Why don't we give it a try?"

"Huh?" Scott said in surprise as he saw Xavier offer his hand to Lance. Wolverine and Jean looked at each other skeptically, while Lance, who wasn't expecting Xavier to let him in this easily, accepted the hand.

"Professor, I-" Scott tried to protest, but Xavier raised a hand in front of him, telling him to be quiet.

"Kitty, would you show Lance to one of the guest rooms?" The professor requested.

"Whatever." Kitty replied. "Follow me." She said to Lance as they went to leave. When they got to the door, Kitty phased through it before popping back in. "Just kidding." She then grabbed him and pulled him through.

Jean and Wolverine went back to bed, leaving Scott, Danny, and Xavier alone.

"Professor, I think this is a mistake." Scott said, knowing that Lance wasn't being genuine. He was hiding something. "I know Lance wouldn't do this unless he wanted something."

"He does want something, Scott." Danny pointed out. "And that's to be with Kitty."

"Yes, I agree." Xavier said.

"But-" Scott tried to protest before being interrupted.

"I believe he's genuine about his feelings for her, and maybe that's a good beginning." Xavier informed him as he left the office. "Now, let's give him a chance."

Scott turned to Danny, hoping that he would back him up on this. "Danny, you can't possibly agree with this."

Danny shrugged. He was willing to give Lance the benefit of the doubt. Despite his rough exterior, he could tell that he did care about Kitty. In fact, the two kind of reminded him of Johnny 13 and the other Kitty back at Amity Park.

Still, he knew that Lance deserved a chance. Everyone deserved a chance. He remembered the Vlad he encountered back in the other timeline, a broken man filled with regret and shame over his past actions. And then there was him, who wanted a second chance after finding out what he would become.

"Everyone deserves a second chance, Scott." He said to his friend before glancing at himself in the mirror. "Even the worst of us." He then headed back to bed, leaving Scott with his thoughts.

Meanwhile, Kitty was showing Lance into the guest room. "Here you are, sir. Sorry, there's no mint on your pillow, but I believe you'll find some gum under the chair."

"Hey, not bad." Lance said in approval, seeing the nice-looking room. "Of course I'll have to grunge it up some before it feels like home." He went to the dresser and dumped the contents of his duffel back into the drawer. "There. All unpacked."

"Well, then, welcome to Mutant Manor." Kitty gave a mocking bow. "Breakfast is at seven." She went to leave before deciding to be serious with Lance. "Lance, look, I think it's cool you wanna be an X-Man, really, but watch it." She warned him. "This place is no walk in the park, and the other guys aren't gonna cut you any slack."

"Come on, I can handle it." Lance said cockily. "How tough can it be?"

Lance was finding out just how tough it could be as he and the other New Mutants were in the simulator for the Blackbird. It was Bobby's turn, and Danny was monitoring his progress.

"All pre-flight systems checked." Danny said. "Alright, Iceman, take her out." He then hardened his eyes at the recruit, knowing how reckless he could be. "Nice and slow, this time."

"Alright, hang on to your lunch." Bobby pressed the switch as the simulator jet started to leave the hangar as Lance was trying to keep himself together. He discovered that he hated flying, which made sense considering his power was connected to the ground.

"Hey, slow down, will you?" Lance said, trying not to sound like he was begging.

The screen showed the Blackbird leaving the hangar as the group were greeted with the simulated skies as Bobby started to pull the jet up.

"Yes!" He cheered before an alarm went off as the jet started to be pulled down. "Man."

"Pull up!" Danny told him. "Pull up!"

The jet started to race out of control as the other mutants screamed while Lance said he wasn't feeling good. The simulation then ended, showing a screen that said fatal error.

"So, how did I do?" Bobby asked Danny, seeming way too happy for just crashing the jet.

"I'll tell you this." Danny said blankly. "You're no Val Kilmer, that's for sure."

Outside, Logan and Kitty were watching their progress while Kurt was sweeping the floor, still on punishment after the carnival incident with Tabitha.

The door to the simulation opened as Bobby came out. "Hey, did you see?" He asked Logan. "Were you watching? This time, it took me twice as long to crash and burn."

"Two times zero is still zero." Danny said as he and the others came out.

"Yeah." Logan agreed before glaring at Bobby. "Look, kid, that kind of hot-dogging ain't gonna cut it in a real battle." He scolded, while Kitty noticed Lance was looking a bit pale as he stumbled out of the simulation. "You gotta think before you start playing cowboy commando."

"Lance?" Kitty went up to their new recruit. "Are you okay?"

"Hey, piece of cake." Lance lied, trying to look cool in front of Kitty. "Told you there was nothing to this X-Man stuff."

"Well, good." Kitty smiled before leaving, not seeing Lance cover his mouth and run past Xavier to find a place to throw up.

Xavier saw how sad Bobby looked as he walked away after being reprimanded by Logan.

"You think you were hard on him?" He asked his friend. "After all, you've been known to do a little hot-dogging yourself."

"Yeah, but I can walk away from a crash." Wolverine replied. "They can't." He then saw Kurt had paused in his chores. "Well, what are you looking at, elf? Keep sweeping. You still got another week of probation to work off."

"Yes sir. Sorry." Kurt apologized as he went back to cleaning.

"Yeah, and when you're finished, you can mop out the simulator." Logan told him.

Danny patted Kurt on the back as he left. "It could be worse, Kurt. You could've been cleaning up Lance's puke."

"Get to it, elf." Logan ordered.

"Yeah, sure." Kurt mumbled to himself. "Who wouldn't want to be an X-Man?" He said sarcastically. "It's so fulfilling."

Danny was outside in the yard with the New Mutants as they were getting ready for a training exercise. The ghost gave a thumbs up to Scott, who pressed a button, causing several turrets to shoot buzzsaws at them.

Amara, who was first in line, summoned two balls of fire in her hands and threw them at the buzzsaws, taking them out, but she was left open to the remaining two. They would've taken her head off if Danny hadn't shot them with an ecto-blast.

Alex was next, as he stood confidently. The buzzsaws were fired at him as he used his energy blasts to blast them all to smithereens. Thinking that he had passed, he turned around to gloat, only for one to try and hit him in the back. Thankfully, Danny was able to shoot that one down as well.

Next up was Lance, who let out a small earthquake that destroyed the machines before they even had the chance to fire.

The New Mutants all congratulated Lance, who looked over to see Kitty failing to hide a smile.

Danny patted Lance on the back. "Nice job, man. But I think what you need to work on with your powers is finesse."

The New Mutants were now in the Danger Room as Ray fired his electricity at some laser turrets. Once they were in the clear, Jubilee and Multiple started to run as they dodged the spikes that were coming out of the ground. Ray and Lance joined them as Lance climbed over a wall that had popped up. Using his reflexes, the former Brotherhood member managed to dodge buzzsaws, spikes, and claws reaching in to grab him as he somersaulted over them and landed on his butt, with one spike popping out between his legs. Thankfully, it didn't hurt him.

The group managed to make their way to the finish line in time as Danny, Kurt, Scott, and Kitty watched from the observatory deck.

"Watch this." Scott said as he was about to press a button, which he hoped would activate one of the defenses and knock Lance down when Danny slapped his hand.

"Scott, you're better than this." Danny scolded, making Kurt shake his head. What parallel universe did he wake up in, where Danny was the serious one and Scott was the one messing around?

Danny and Scott were now at the pool with the New Mutants. This exercise was going to be about saving someone from drowning. In the pool were the victims, which consisted of Rogue, Kurt, Kitty, and Evan.

On the rescue side were Lance, Rahne, Sam, and Bobby. The others were standing back to watch.

"Okay. Victims, stand by." Danny said before turning to the four mutants. "Rescuers ready?"

When Sam gave the thumbs up, Scott blew on the whistle as Bobby froze his body and Rahne turned into wolf form. She dove in the pool while Bobby made an ice bridge all the way over to Evan.

Sam jumped in to rescue Kitty, while Lance threw a life preserver at Rogue, knocking her in the head as she plummeted down in the water. Lance jumped in and pushed aside Sam so he could be the one to rescue Kitty, causing Sam's powers to activate as he was launched out of the pool.

Lance and Kitty smiled as he placed his arm around her and brought her out, making her giggle in the process.

"Wrong victim, Alvers." Scott told him.

"And you just drowned my girlfriend." Danny added as he glared daggers at him, while Sam ended up flying around and falling back into the pool. "And Sam as well." Danny noted.

"Hey, is Rogue okay?" Scott pointed to the pool where Rogue didn't resurface.

"Rogue!" Danny panicked as he flew in and brought his girlfriend out, who was unconscious.

"Shit, she's not breathing!" Danny started to perform CPR on her while the others watched helplessly. Lance was starting to feel guilty for causing this as he watched Danny try to resuscitate her.

When Danny once again tried to breathe into her mouth, Rogue's hand came around his head as she started to smooch him. Everyone watched in shock before Danny pulled back to see Rogue smirking at him.

"Now that's what I call good CPR." She giggled.

Annoyed by this stunt, Scott pushed the two hybrids into the water before he felt someone push him in as well.

"Alvers!" Scott cried, knowing that he was responsible.

"Actually, Scott, that was me." Alex confessed before being dragged in by his older brother. Kitty and the New Mutants laughed before they started pushing each other in, and soon the exercise became a splash match.

Scott, climbing back up, shook his head at everyone goofing off.

The next morning, everyone was heading to school. Lance walked into the garage where his Jeep was, planning on giving Bobby, Jubilee, and Sam a ride.

As he was getting in, he noticed Scott's car, which was covered in dirt.

"Nice car, Summers." Lance said as Scott and Kurt came in.

"Hey, who's been messing with my car?" Scott demanded when he saw the state his vehicle was in.

Danny and Rogue came in and saw the damage.

"Ah, shit, Scott, I feel bad for you." Danny sympathized.

"Uh, Danny?" Rogue pointed over to his moped, which had dirt on it as well, with one of the wheels disconnected.

"No!" The X-Man dropped to his knees as he saw the horrible state his bike was in. "My moped!" His eyes then glowed green in rage. "I swear, when I get my hands on the person who's done this!"

Sam, feeling a bit scared about Danny's claim, whispered to Bobby. "Should we-" He was cut off as Bobby elbowed him.

"Shut up!" Bobby whispered back. "You heard what he said."

Despite the setbacks, they all then arrived at school as Lance headed to class.

"Later, guys!" He said to his friends.

"Later, dude." They said back.

Lance was at least glad that the New Mutants had accepted him easily, though that could be due to the fact that they never battled the Brotherhood. Speaking of the Brotherhood, Lance was shoved into a locker before a massive hand grabbed hold of him as he saw that it was Blob with the other Brotherhood members next to him.

"Hiya, Lance." Pietro greeted. "Long time, no see."

"Yeah." Blob joined in. "Where you been, old buddy?"

Lance shoved the huge hand off him. "Get your hands off me, wide load."

"You know, we heard the craziest thing, Lance." Tabitha said. "Somebody said you were living with the geek squad."

"Yeah?" Lance asked. "Is that what they said?"

"I knew it!" Toad jumped up and down. "Mystique's gonna hand you your left arm when she gets back."

"She's not coming back." Lance replied, not at all intimidated by the idea of Mystique coming back. If she were back, she would've shown up by now. "The Brotherhood is history. You guys just don't know it yet."

"Oh, yeah?" Blob yelled indignantly. "Well..." He tried to think of a clever comeback. "Well..."

"Witty comeback, Blob." Pietro jabbed before turning his attention to Lance. "You're becoming one of them, aren't you? You're becoming an X-Man."

"Is there a problem with being an X-Man?"

The group all turned to see Danny glaring at them. Since his moped was damaged, he flew himself to school.

"Hey, Danny." Tabitha said, being the only one not scared of him.

"Hey, Tabitha." Danny smiled back at her. "You doing all right? The Brotherhood hasn't driven you insane yet, have they?"

Tabitha snorted. "Please, we all know that I have no sanity left."

Danny chuckled. "True."

"Come on, let's get out of here." Pietro said as the Brotherhood began to leave. "This hallway has too many X-geeks." He looked over his shoulder at Lance. "You're making a mistake, Lance. You'll never fit in with those guys. And they're never gonna accept you."

Lance gave a grateful look to Danny. "Thanks."

"No problem." Danny told him. "After all, you're one of us now."

It was bedtime, and as Lance was heading to his room to get some shut-eye, he saw Bobby, Jubilee, Sam, and Jamie walk down the hall. Feeling suspicious, he followed them.

Meanwhile, Kitty was in the kitchen, making herself a snack. As she got an apple from the fridge along with some bread, she heard someone pass the door, which was Bobby.

"Hello, is anyone there?" She called, but there was no answer. Shrugging, she went to make herself a sandwich, knocking down a pencil that rolled underneath the table. As she went under to get it, Jubilee passed by. Phasing her head through the table, she took a bite out of her apple as Lance walked by.

Looking into the kitchen, he saw what appeared to be Kitty's decapitated head served up on a plate, causing him to faint.

With Lance no longer on their trail, the four went to the X-Van and drove it out of the garage.

"Man, this is awesome!" Bobby cheered as he was at the wheel. He then rolled down the window. "Hey, check this out." He shot out a beam of ice, forming a loop in front of them, which the van drove on.

They all cried out in excitement as the van was launched into the air briefly before landing back on the road, causing Jamie to hit the side of the door, making four duplicates pop out and bump into Jubilee.

"Wow, look at all these controls." Bobby said in awe before seeing a switch. "Hey, what does this do?" He pulled it.

"Aw, it didn't do anything." Sam said in disappointment, not knowing that a container filled with four missiles popped out of the top of the van.

"How about this one?" Jubilee pressed a button, firing two of the missiles. "Nothing." She said as none of them noticed the two missiles shoot down into the river below and cause an explosion.

"Try all the other buttons." Sam suggested.

"Let me try some." Jamie begged as they pressed buttons; one button in particular caused the van to shoot out fire from the back, burning down a utility pole that fell down.

"Man, this X-Van stinks." Bobby exclaimed, not knowing the damage they had just caused. "It doesn't do anything."

The next morning, Bobby was heading back to bed to get some sleep when he heard Xavier's telepathic message.

'New recruits, there will be a special early-morning session with Logan. Report to the hangar immediately.'

In the Danger Room, Kurt was currently scrubbing the Blackbird clean. "Wash the uniforms, wash the van, wash the jet." He murmured to himself. "This probation is turning my fur kinky."

Logan, Danny, and the New Mutants then came down to inspect the jet. Danny looked back to see that Jamie, Bobby, Jubilee, and Sam all appeared exhausted.

"Sheesh, Logan, you think you're pushing these kids too hard?" He asked the orange-suited X-Man.

"Nah." Logan smiled. "It's good for them." They then stood in front of the Blackbird, as Logan showed it off. "And here's our pride and joy, the X-Jet. Does Mach 5 at 40,000 feet, with every new power thrust, camouflage stealth capability the professor can dream up. It'll outrun, outfly, and out-fight anything on two wings and still make a great cup of coffee."

"It'd be cooler if it could go to space." Danny mumbled.

"Bub, why would we ever need to go to space?" Logan questioned.

Danny shrugged. "You never know."

Bobby was admiring the jet when he reached out his hand to touch it, but Kurt stopped him.

"Ah, ah." Kurt told him. "No finger marks. I just spent a month detailing this baby."

"Oh, uh, sorry." Bobby apologized before turning to Logan. "Hey, does this demo mean we're gonna get to fly the real jet this time?"

"Yeah, that'll happen." Logan joked before leading them to the garage. "Let's try something a little smaller. Like the X-Van."

Jamie turned to Sam. "Hey, shouldn't we-" He was cut off when the older boy elbowed him, making him create two duplicates that bumped into Jubilee.

"Hey, what happened to the X-Van?" Logan demanded as he saw the van was in the same state as Scott's car. If that weren't bad enough, one of the wheels popped off and rolled over near Logan's feet.

"They struck again." Danny said angrily. "First my moped, and now the X-Van." He then leaned over to Logan. "Don't tell Scott, but I think it might be Alex." He whispered. "He's been known to make stupid decisions like these."

The next night, the four were about to sneak out again, but this time they were planning on leaving Jamie behind, much to the little mutant's dismay.

"Come on, guys, please." He begged. "I'll be really quiet, I promise."

Sam shushed him. "We told you, forget it. You make too big a crowd, literally."

The Jamies looked down sadly.

"Now, get back to bed, all of you." Jubilee commanded.

"I never get to go." Jamie said as he and his duplicates went back to bed.

Lance was in his room sleeping when he felt a hand on him. Opening his eyes, he found Sam, Jubilee, and Bobby smiling at him.

"What?" He asked them sleepily.

"Lance." Jubilee said. "Lance, wake up. We're going on another joyride. You wanna come with us?"

"Forget it." Lance answered. "Now let me sleep in peace."

"Okay, your loss, but this time, we're taking something bigger and faster." Bobby said as the three left his room. The trio then took the elevator down underground, where they came face-to-face with the Blackbird.

"Hot diggity." Sam exclaimed.

"Cool." Bobby said as they approached the jet.

"You guys sure about this?" Jubilee asked them. Taking the van and the other vehicles was one thing, but this was a jet.

"Yeah!" Bobby wasn't deterred. "Let's do it."

Back in his room, Lance was taking in Bobby's words. "Bigger and faster?" He repeated before realizing what they were talking about. "The X-Jet!" He quickly got dressed and went to stop them when he ran into Danny, who came out of the bathroom.

"Danny!" Lance cried.

"What's wrong?" Danny asked.

"Follow me!" Lance ran off to find the three troublemakers, with Danny following him. As the two were making their way to the hangar, Jubilee, Bobby, and Sam activated the Blackbird's thrusters.

"Bobby, I just don't know about this." Sam confessed to his friend.

"Can't stop now." Bobby pointed out as the two boys sat in the pilot seats. "We are rolling."

Danny and Lance appeared on the ledge that the jet was moving under.

"Oh, man, those stupid kids!" Lance said in frustration. Even someone like him knew a stunt like this was going too far.

"Kids?" Danny heard Lance say. "What kids? Is Alex one of them?" Turning ghost, he grabbed Lance and phased the two into the Blackbird as it made its way through the hangar with one of its wings scarping the walls.

"Get the doors open." Sam warned Bobby as they were approaching the end. "Get them open!"

"I can't find the switch." Bobby tried looking for it.

Jubilee spotted it and pointed to it. "Here it is." Pressing it, the gates opened, allowing them to leave without crashing.

"Phew, I almost had to change my shorts." Sam said in relief.

"Alright!" Bobby started to fly the jet above Bayville. "Hang on to your lunch."

The three cried out in excitement as they flew among the buildings before Bobby decided to pull the jet up. Jubilee pressed a button, causing a hatch to open.

"Hey, guys, check this out." Jubilee started throwing pyrotechnics into the sky as they went off, creating fireworks.

"Hang on, let's see what this baby can do." Bobby was about to pull a switch when they all heard a shouting voice.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

The three all turned around to see an angry Danny glaring at them, his eyes glowing green. Beside him, Lance was also frowning.

"Danny?" The three said in shock. Jubilee, scared by his shout, accidentally let out a pyrotechnic, which shorted out the controls.

"Oh, man, look what you did." Sam said.

"Oops." Jubilee let out guiltily.

Danny, having had enough of this, pulled Bobby out of the pilot's chair. "Get out of the chair!" He got in as he tried to take it back to the institute, but he couldn't steer it away. "Shit, it's seized up. I can't slow this thing down."

"I just remembered why I hate flying." Lance said queasily as he stared out the window.

"I'll try to fix it." Sam said as Danny tried to contact the others.

"X-Jet to base." He said. "X-Jet to base." No response. "Fuck, it's fried."

"One of these switches has gotta do something." Bobby tried to press one, but Danny smacked his hand away.

"You've done enough!" He yelled as he tried to find some way to take back control of the Blackbird. If it weren't bad enough, they were spotted by two military jets.

"What the devil is that?" One pilot uttered before contacting the strange aircraft. "Patrol one-zero-niner to unknown aircraft; you are traveling in restricted airspace. Identify yourself."

"Shit!" Danny cursed out. The radio was gone, and they were being pursued by hostile aircraft.

"We gotta show them we're friendly." Lance said as he came up to help. "Is this the PA system?" He flipped a switch.

"No, don't!" Danny tried to stop him, but it was too late as the Blackbird shot out a missile that the two jets dodged, causing it to hit a mountain.

"Patrol one-zero-niner to base; we've got a hostile aircraft here." One of the jets explained. "Permission to engage." Once the pilot got the okay, he fired two more missiles that headed straight toward the Blackbird.

Sam saw something beeping on the screen. "Uh, Danny, what do those little blips on the screen mean?"

Danny's eyes widened. "Heat-seeking missiles!"

"I got it covered." Jubilee threw a pyrotechnic out the hatch, where the missiles followed it as it exploded, destroying them as well.

Sam was using a piece of gum to fix the controls. "Danny, try it now."

Danny pressed the switch as the thrusters stopped and the Blackbird started to fall.

"There we go; the propulsion's cut." He told them all.

"I'm new at this, but isn't that a bad thing?" Jubilee asked.

"Not with Bobby's powers at our disposal." Danny replied before turning to the cryokinetic mutant. "Make a bridge straight ahead." He commanded.

Bobby stuck his head out of the hatch and fired a beam of ice, making a bridge that the Blackbird rode, taking them back into the air, where Danny activated the propulsion.

Now they were flying through a canyon as more jets appeared to pursue them.

"We got more company!" Jubilee cried.

"Not for long." Danny said as one jet fired two more missiles at them. The hybrid looked at Lance. "Lance, do your thing!"

Lance nodded as he used his powers to make the canyon crumble.

"Pull up!" One pilot ordered. The jets did as he commanded.

Bobby saw on the screen that the missiles were continuing to chase them. "What do we do?"

Danny just winked as he turned the ship intangible. Everyone gasped as the two missiles passed right through them and impacted a nearby mesa. Now with the jet under control, the half-ghost turned it invisible, making the other pilots gasp.

"Did you just see that?" One asked.

"No, and you didn't either." Another said, deciding to deny what he saw. "Now let's get out of here." They left the area as Danny headed back into the institute and pulled the jet into the hangar. Once they landed and everyone was safe, Danny scowled angrily at the three.

"You little shits! How could you do something so reckless?" He shouted. "What if you ended up exposing us? Or even worse, got yourselves killed?"

The three students looked down in shame and fear. Danny was always the fun guy, so to see him this angry only enforced the reality that they screwed up badly.

"The professor took you guys in, and this is how you repay him?" Danny continued to scold and reprimand them. "By damaging all of his equipment? Did you ever think about how he would feel if you died during one of your stunts? He would've blamed himself and been stricken with grief."

This remark really made them feel ashamed of themselves. Professor Xavier gave them a place to train their powers. He gave them a home and friends, and this is how they thanked him.

"Not only that, but think of the property damage you probably caused!" He roared. "Imagine if everyone found out about us because of this! The first exposure to mutants people see is a bunch of children destroying everything in their path! I'm sure that wouldn't affect the professor's dream of mutants and humans existing in peace together at all!" Danny then stopped as he saw them take in what he said and realize how they had messed up.

He then decided it was time to ask the most important question.

"Now, which one of you wrecked my moped?"

The next morning, Kitty, Xavier, Scott, and Logan were looking over the damaged X-Jet.

Scott heard the doors open as Danny, Lance, Bobby, Jubilee, and Sam came in.

"Alvers, you did this!" Scott accused. "You've been the one taking all these joy rides."

"He didn't." Danny defended Lance before pointing at the three culprits. "They did. Lance was trying to stop them."

"We took the X-Van too." Bobby confessed guiltily.

"And Scott's car." Sam added.

"And your motorcycle." Jubilee said to Logan.

Logan growled. Those runts touched his baby. "My motorcycle?" He snarled as he held back the urge to pull out the claws.

"Just kidding." Jubilee joked as they nervously chuckled.

"Well, luckily, there's been no official mention of the incident." Xavier said calmly, though he was indeed not happy about this. "The military must believe it was a UFO, so they're no doubt covering it up."

Kurt then walked in, holding wax. He was in a good mood as he prepared to complete the last chore for his punishment. "Now all I've got to do is wax the X-Jet, and my probation is history." He dropped the wax as he saw how destroyed the Blackbird looked.

"You're gonna need a lot of wax." Danny commented.

"That's all right, Kurt." Xavier comforted. "Consider your probation over."

"Yeah!" Kurt cheered as he left.

Xavier then frowned at the three troublemakers. "Yours, however, is just beginning. You can start by cleaning up the X-Jet."

The three went to do just that as Scott rubbed his neck sheepishly.

"I guess I owe you an apology." Scott said to Lance.

"Save it, Summers, I'm out of here." Lance started to head out to pack his things.

"Lance, we're sorry." Xavier said. "It's been a challenging transition for us all."

"Please stay, Lance." Kitty pleaded.

"Yeah, man, don't go." Danny said, not wanting Lance to leave.

"Sorry. Living with the Brotherhood's a piece of cake compared to you guys." Lance told them. "You're way too high-maintenance."

"Well, if you ever change your mind." Xavier said as Kitty ran over to the former recruit and kissed him on the cheek.

Lance gave one last smile before taking the elevator.

Danny shook his head in amusement. "They really are like Johnny and Kitty."
