Hello everyone. Thank you so much for waiting for a new update. Before we begin, I would like to give a shoutout to Eve and all the other people who reviewed. It really means a lot to me that you all are loving this story.
Now, on to the next chapter!
Ginny was soon discharged from the hospital wing after her wounds healed. Hermione waited for her as she changed her clothes and then they headed back to the common room together. It was late at night so all the students were probably asleep. Hermione and Ginny continued in silence until Hermione spoke up.
"So, Lily and I talked while you were...gone," she said.
"Really? What about?" Ginny was curious since Lily and the Marauders seemed to hate them.
"She wanted to check on me if I was okay or not. I was pretty w-worried about y-you," She held Ginny's hand as her voice trembled. She cleared her throat. "Anyways I told her how I figured it was Serene. How Severus would never hurt Lily as he cared for her. She seemed shocked."
"Do you think she will talk to him or at least give him the benefit of the doubt?" Ginny asked.
Hermione thought for a minute, "I hope so. If she does, it might prevent Severus from going off to the dark side."
They reached the Gryffindor common room portrait, gave the password, and went inside. The common room was almost empty. Except for the marauders minus Peter and Lily who were sitting near the fireplace. As soon as they saw who entered the common room, they sat up straighter.
Lily stood up and went over to where Hermione and Ginny were standing and hugged Ginny, "I am glad you are okay."
Ginny was a bit taken aback by this change in Lily but hugged her back nonetheless.
Lily pulled back and said, "Would you two like to join us? There's something we need to talk about."
Hermione and Ginny looked at each other and shrugged. The three of them went to the fireplace as Hermione and Ginny greeted the other marauders.
"How are you feeling?" Remus asked Ginny.
"Well, better now that I am not in a filthy dungeon," Ginny replied. "What happened to Serena anyway?"
"They have sent her back home. She will no longer be allowed to complete her education here," Hermione replied with a hint of sadness in her voice. She really liked Serena but Serena betrayed their trust.
There was a moment of silence. "Listen, Ginny, Hermione. We...," James looked at others and then spoke up hesitantly, "We owe you an apology. We mistrusted you two. We thought you were death eaters," he looked ashamed, "But we were wrong. And we want to apologize for that."
There was a series of "sorry" from the rest of them as they looked expectantly at the two girls.
"It's okay," Ginny said, "We can't really blame you guys. We might have done the same if we were in your place."
"We know we have hidden some stuff with you," Hermione said, "And that may have caused mistrust among us. But we really need you to trust us for what we need to do."
"What you need to do?" Sirius spoke up, "What is that exactly?"
The others saw Hermione look at Ginny and Ginny give her a nod as she cast a Muffliato around them. Then both the girls looked at them and Hermione said with seriousness in her voice.
"Kill Voldemort"
The sound of Peter's footsteps echoed in the dark corridor. He looked around nervously, the marauders map in his hand, making sure that no one was there. He finally reached one of the classrooms and after taking a deep breath, he knocked. There was a moment before the door opened to reveal Avery. Avery looked around the hallway to make sure no one saw them and ushered Peter in.
"W-why did you call me h-here?" Peter asked once he was in.
"Yeah, why do we have a Gryffindor here with us?" Rosier sneered.
"Because your plan to capture one of those stupid girls didn't work out. We have already lost one of our spies in the school, thanks to your plan," Avery retorted back, "Now shut up while I make a new plan to please the Dark Lord."
He turned to Peter, "The Dark Lord needs every witch or wizard he can get on his side. Your job is to persuade those two girls to turn over to our side."
"But they hate me for some reason," Peter said hesitantly, "How will I convince them?"
Avery walked towards Peter until he was towering over him and growled, "Talk to them, beg them, torture them until they say yes, I don't care how you manage to do it. Just remember if you fail, we will not be pleased. And trust me, you don't want us angry at you. Now leave." He opened the door and practically shoved Peter out of the room.
Peter took a moment to collect himself as he once again took out the map to check if someone else was coming his way. Carefully, he made his way towards the Gryffindor common room, hoping that his friends hadn't noticed his absence.
Why would they? he thought bitterly. Peter never thought he would be on the Dark Lord's side but in the last couple of years, things had changed. Peter started feeling inferior when he was with the marauders. It seemed as if each one of them was good at something except for Peter. And the worst part? The marauders didn't even realize that Peter was feeling bitter. It grew to a point where Peter was willing to do anything to become powerful. So he took a risk and went to Avery and his friends to become a death eater.
I will show the others that I am not a loser, he thought as he looked down at the mark on his arm.
So now we finally know why and how Peter became a death eater. Hermione and Ginny are also going to reveal some of their story to the marauders and Lily.
Should they tell them about Peter being a death eater or not?
Let me know what you think.
