AN: I guess I was wrong when I said to expect no more updates to this story, as I got inspired to make chapters to basically extend each ending in the Epilogue. I'm officially blaming Herodadotus for this. Get Scapegoated. Expect the others to be longer.
When she was Exalt, Emmeryn faced constant pressure to marry, despite having two younger siblings. Of course, the nobility 'secretly' considered both Chrom and Lissa unsuitable to produce heirs, and Emmeryn was well aware of this. They considered Chrom too reckless, too likely to be killed in battle, while they questioned Lissa's legitimacy almost openly.
Emmeryn was secretly quite relieved when Lucina was born, as the pressure to marry almost vanished, and she was free to search out love at her own pace. She took her search quite slowly, content with the status quo, until those fateful revelations in Plegia broke Ylisse apart.
The bloodshed she witnessed reminded her of her father's doomed crusade, and she likely would have fallen into lifelong despair if not for her guardian. A member of the Shepherds, oft forgotten, chose to spend the war at her side, acting as her shield against the horrors around her. Emmeryn found herself growing close to this knight, and soon after abdicating the throne, she married him, a decision she never regretted.
