6 years later

"Hey, Starfire! Can we get another round over here please?" A blue alien creature called out to the waitress.

"Coming right up zanoric! But remember this is your third and final round!" Starfire reminded him.

She then flew off to get him more drinks.

"hey, platinum! May I have another circle that holds the beverage" she called out.

"I got ya covered darlin." platinum told her as the bartender got another round of drinks going.

With quick hands, she handed it to Starfire who flew away quickly.

Platinum laughed as Starfire was almost tobbled over by a giant rimborian. She didn't get to laugh for long before the DJ turned the music up a little louder. Before she knew it, tables were empty as everyone headed to the dance floor.

That was the wonderful thing about the refuge. It was an intergalactic club. People from all over the galaxy could come and relax. They could eat, drink, and have a good time. There was a catch though, the refuge never stayed in the same place. One day it could be in New York and the next in Chicago. Their patronage stemmed from membership. You had to be a member to get in, and members could bring a guest or two. The refuge had a strict nondisclosure policy. Anyone superhero or villain could enter just as long as they didn't start trouble and were just there for a good time. if there was any hint of violence or ulterior motives they were thrown out and banned immediately.

Platinum couldn't help but smile, her husband who was also the owner didn't take anybody's crap. She watched him as he engaged the crowd, and cranked up the music a little louder. Steel, was his name and everyone loved him.

" platinum!" a cheery voice shouted.

Platinum's attention was taken by a blond girl with blue eyes, smiling half-heartedly at her.

"Cassie!" she greeted happily. The young superheroine had shown up at their club just a few months ago and now she was a full-time member zeta tubing to wherever the refuge was in the world.

"how ya doin darlin? How's my favorite gal? how did ya birthday go?"

At the mention of her birthday, Cassie's smile fell and she shrugged.

"Oh, it was ok."

"just ok? What's got you sad darlin?" Platinum asked.

"It's nothing important platinum! I don't want to burden you with my problems."

Platinum gave Cassie a stern look and said "Now look here missy, you and I have been friends for a while now, I think I know you well enough to know when you are hiding things from me. so spill."

Platinum stepped back to allow the girl some time to get her thoughts together. Ever since she stepped in the door, Platinum the girl was lonely. It was easy for Cassie to put on a façade and pretend she was strong in front of others but deep down, she was struggling with insecurity and loneliness. Platinum wanted to get to the bottom of it.

"I spent my birthday by myself. my boyfriend ignored me for a whole month and then broke up with me. My mentor has been too busy for me and my mom took an archeological trip without telling me. I came home from school one day and she left me a Post-it note, saying she was leaving for a while. A post-it note platinum! And then I've been getting sidelined a lot more and I don't know why and – and-"

Before she knew it, Cassie was crying.

Platinum was quick to comfort the teenager.

"Oh, Cassie, sweetheart. I-"

"platinum! I need another order of drinks!" someone yelled.

Platinum sighed and said " Cassie darlin you just wait here, stay as long as you like. I want to speak with you."

With that said platinum went to help some other customers.

Conner now known as Steel sat in his office as he counted the day's money. Today was the first Friday of November which meant that the refuge would be closed for the weekend. Conner made it paramount that his family get at least two weekends off per month. The weekends at least on earth brought in the most money. It also helped that his family took on a few bounty hunter contracts and rescue missions from time to time. at the end of the month, The refuge and the extra jobs they took on would earn them a few million in earth money. That wasn't counting the intergalactic currency their guest from other planets gave them.

A knock on his office door, had him look up.

"It's open."

Immediately Starfire was in his face, her excitement coming in waves.

" Kon! Today is the day of Pay! No?"

Conner smiled and sat back as he gently patted her shoulder.

"yep, today's the day."

"oh, this is most wonderful! I love the day of pay!" Starfire exclaimed.

"That's because you spend it on tacos." Ace chuckled.

Conner looked at his family. His brother match, whom he freed from Cadmus years ago. He now went by the name Waylon. Next to him was Raven, Conner had found her on an abandoned planet, depressed and ready to die. But now she was happy and full of life. It helped that she and Waylon were together. Then there were Terry and Matthew McGinnis, their life had been turned tragic in the worst way. their parents were killed in front of them to recreate Batman's worst tragedy. It didn't help that Terry and Matthew were Batman's biological sons but neither were ready to admit nor connect with him. A gurgle tickled his ears as he looked at the infant in Ace's arms. Lucy Quinn, Harley and Joker's daughter. Harkey Quin had stumbled into the refuge beaten and two months pregnant. She didn't want Joker to know about her daughter but Harley wasn't fit to be a mother either, so as soon as she could give up her parental right to Conner. Last but not least, Conner's eyes locked on to his wife's bright crystal blue eyes. Adeline Axson, now known as Platinum, is Formerly known as Tuppence Terror. She was the love of his life and he was deeply grateful for her.

"All alright everyone, I won't hold you here longer than necessary. You all get your regular pay and the rest go into savings." He told them.

As soon as he pulled out the envelopes, they were swiped from his hand while hugs and kisses were given to him.

"bye, ma! bye Pa!" the younger ones yelled out. The older ones, Starfire, Raven, and Waylon were more mature and said goodbye properly before they walked out the door.

"we will see you later bro! Bye, sis!" Waylon and Raven told them as they flew out of the room.

"Bye, kon! By Adeline! Love you both!" Starfire said as she flew as well.

"All of you be home before curfew! And don't feed Lucy a bunch of sugar!" he called out

Conner couldn't help but laugh and shake his head as he sat back in his chair. Warm hands gently massaged his shoulders before his wife made herself comfortable in his lap.

"looks like we got our hands full. what we goin' do with them?" Tuppence asked him as she laid gentle kisses on his neck.

"mmm, at this moment, I couldn't care less," Conner growled.

"mmmm, Mr. Axson I would love to finish this but we have a guest downstairs." She told him.

"They can wait forty minutes."
