...
6 weeks later, Arizona was finally back home after having stayed at a rehabilitation centre since she left the hospital. She still had a few problems, but she had worked hard. Her family and friends had supported her through the process, each step of her physical therapy. It had been exhausting, frustrating and the road to a total recovery was still a long way off. But she was ready to face it. In fact, after what had happened to her, she felt like she would be able to face anything.
Sitting on a bench outside of the centre, her eyes closed, enjoying the sun on her face. She was waiting for her driver peacefully.
At this moment, she just felt carefree. It had been years since she'd felt this way.
She was even able to think about Terry without tears in her eyes. She was grateful the little boy had been a part of her life. It had been too short, it had been awful, but the anger and the sadness of the loss gave way to resilience.
She would always remember him, he would always be a part of her family, but there was two little children who were waiting for their mommy to come home and that was her priority.
« Wake up pretty lady. » a voice made her open her eyes as lips were immediately on hers.
« Hi... » Arizona smiled with a sheepish look in her eyes as Callie cupped her face, sitting next to her.
« Hi... » Callie replied, giving Arizona a peck. « Were you really asleep? I was watching you from over there, you looked... so beautiful and at peace. »
« I was daydreaming. » Arizona smirked. « About a certain brunette doctor, so hot, with brown magical eyes... »
Arizona leaned in and kissed Callie who smiled into the kiss.
It was the Arizona Callie had fallen in love with years ago. A loss had torn them apart, and another drama had brought them back together.
« I missed you. » Callie said, embracing the woman she loved.
« You saw me five days ago... » Arizona smiled.
« And it was too long. Between your kids, my job and everything else... I couldn't stop thinking about you. » Callie confessed. « And I wanted to hold you tight and never let you go... »
« Well, you can do that whenever you want now. Or almost. » Arizona smiled.
Callie stared intently in Arizona's eyes; it made the blonde blush.
« What? » Arizona mumbled, flabbergasted by all the emotions she could see in Callie's eyes as she gazed at her.
« I love you. » Callie simply said.
Arizona gulped. A familiar feeling of butterflies took over her stomach. Callie still had that effect on her after all these years, even after all the years they spent away from each other.
Things had been great between them since Arizona woke up from her coma.
Callie had been there; she had supported her, and they had grown closer and closer.
They had talked a lot about their fears, their expectations, everything was easy. It was like they used to be. They were enjoying the moment and trying to build something strong.
They hadn't told Travis and Olivia or their friends yet that they were trying again. They wanted to live in their little bubble for a while longer, learning to be a couple again. Only Barbara had an inkling, she had caught them kissing in the hospital the day Arizona left for the rehab centre. She hadn't said anything, not wanting to interfere, and hadn't asked any questions or intimated anything thinking she might be being intrusive.
« I love you too. » Arizona replied as Callie kissed her one more time. Callie was experiencing feelings stronger than her, she wanted to kiss Arizona all the time, it was all she could think about, needing to be as close to the blonde as she could. Trying to make up for lost time. The kiss was really intimate, showing each other just how strong their feelings were towards each other. They hadn't gone further than kisses, but this kiss felt really intimate and full of emotion.
Arizona pulled away, just a little, to catch a breath but Callie was immediately kissing her jaw, then her neck.
« Oh my god... » Arizona whispered.
She felt like she was in heaven. Callie's lips on her skin were making her forget about the pain in her back, although the wound was healing it was still very painful.
« Callie, we are not alone... » Arizona said, even if she was enjoying what the brunette was doing to her. « We should go... »
Callie groaned as she broke the intimate embrace and sat straighter on the bench. She knew Arizona was right, but she had missed her so much, it was so hard for her not to touch or kiss her.
Callie thought about the plan she had made, she was so excited, she smiled to herself.
« Why are you smiling when I just ask you to stop kissing me. » Arizona feigned annoyance.
« What are you talking about? I'm not smiling... » Callie lied. « Anyway, are you ready m'am? » Callie asked.
« Yep, my bag is just here, but I'm going to need your help... » Arizona said, as she stood up she winced in pain, she did all she could not to show how she was feeling but couldn't help the sting as she got up from the seat.
« Are you okay? » Callie immediately worried.
« It's just my prosthetic, it's a little sore. » Arizona confessed but avoided Callie's gaze.
« Arizona... What did you do? Don't tell me you walked too much! »
« Sorry... It's just after my PT yesterday, I wasn't tired, so I went to the park, I walked a little more... » Arizona confessed. « I know I should have stopped but I wanted to be outside, and not in that wheelchair... »
She knew she shouldn't have walked for that long, but she wanted to prove to herself, and, on her own, that she would quickly be able to do everything like before. Going to work and standing for hours in the OR, going to the park with Travis and Olivia, going on dates with Callie or to have a drink with Mark... It was all these little things that were making her want to be independent as fast as possible.
« You know you have to listen to your trainer Arizona. He told you not to push too hard. You barely learned how to walk again, plus you have a Prosthetic... I know you want to recover fast, but you are a doctor! You need to listen to your doctors! » Callie grumbled. « And I need you to be at your best for this weekend... »
« Why? We are going to my place and everybody will be here, so I'll stay sitting most of the time anyway... » Arizona replied.
Callie smiled again, her eyebrows raising. Arizona looked at her and rolled her eyes. She knew the brunette was probably planning something.
« What is it with you? » she asked.
« Nothing... Don't get paranoid baby... »
Callie stood up and Grabbed Arizona's bag, before helping her stand. She gave the crutch she still needed to use for at least a couple of weeks and then both of them walked to the car. Callie stayed behind her, looking at her improvement. It was clear Arizona had worked hard to be able to stand and walk so well. Already.
The brunette opened the passenger side door and helped Arizona sit before going to the driver seat.
Callie had just pulled away and immediately Arizona's hand gravitated to Callie's thigh. Callie was like a magnet, She needed to touch her every chance she got.
Callie smiled.
« Oh, I forgot to tell you something. » Callie said. « We are not going home tonight, ooo and not tomorrow either…. OH! And not the following night either... »
« What? But you said you organised a party with the kids and everybody? » Arizona knitted her brows.
« Yes, I have, but that's in a couple of days. Because now we are going to a spa, I rented a room for us, we are going to celebrate... »
