It had been a few weeks since I stopped the Count. Not a lot happened since then. Because Malcolm was not missing, there really wasn't anything to investigate there. I did have to deal with Cyrus Vanch. It turned out that his plan to use henchmen equal to the number of arrows that I had didn't really work when I had a partner with unlimited ammo. Tommy was back at the hospital after the charges against him were dropped. I still couldn't figure out why the other archer was so interested in helping him out. It seemed like something Malcolm would do, but I was still pretty sure that it wasn't Malcolm.
I was currently doing some training. I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to do this without Felicity even though Iris was pretty smart in her own right. I had considered trying to talk to her several times, but I didn't know what to say to her. I didn't think I could just tell her that I was the vigilante and I kind of didn't trust her not to tell anyone. Not to mention, things with Courtney were a little bit complicated. I didn't know why I was so attracted to her.
"So are you going to take someone off the list tonight?" Iris asked.
"Yes but it should be pretty easy. It's just a guy who ran a pyramid scheme. You know you two can call it early tonight. I don't really need an help."
The thing was that I hadn't told either of them about Emiko yet. I wasn't entirely sure what to do with the information. I knew that Thea wanted us to talk to her together, but I wasn't even sure if she would believe us. I did have a lot of questions and I did want her in my life, but I wasn't sure if she wanted to be. I planned on at least going to see her. I probably wouldn't engage with her, but I did want to see her myself.
"Why do I have a feeling that there's something that you're not telling us." Courtney remarked.
"I'm not going to do anything other than convince this guy to give the money back." I explained. That was the only thing that I would do in costume at least.
I didn't actually get a chance to see Emiko. The thing with the pyramid scheme did take a little bit longer than expected and I was pretty sure that she was already in bed by the time that I was done. I was not going to be a creepy person and watch my sister sleep. I did manage to get the guy to give back the money. I wanted to find some more information about the other archer but he hadn't really done anything since his holiday attack. I couldn't even find any security footage from the hospital, so he must have threatened the hematologist somewhere that didn't have any cameras.
In the morning, Thea came into my room. I was already dressed in my uniform. She was not for some reason.
"Why aren't you dressed yet?" I asked her.
"I was thinking that we could go and visit our sister today." She stated as she closed the door.
"Thea we can't just skip school to see her. Not to mention, she has school as well." I pointed out. She went to a different private school than us. I imagined that Dad had paid for it, but he wanted to send her to a different private school than us. That logic didn't really make sense because she didn't really look enough like us for us to easily make the connection.
"We could go to her school." She recommended.
"Or we could just try to see her after school." I countered. "Also have you considered that maybe she doesn't want to be involved in this family?"
"What do you mean?" My sister responded. This was going to be hard. I also couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't brought it up with Mom or anyone else.
"She seems like she has a pretty life with her friends. She might not want to be involved with us." I declared. "She might not care who her father is. Can we talk about something else?"
"Well have you asked Courtney on a date yet?" She questioned. I blushed. I should have been more specific when I said something else.
"We don't have that kind of relationship." I remarked. "I don't like her like that."
"It's not good for you to keep denying it." She stated. "Trust me. You'll feel so much better when you finally get laid."
"Thea!" I yelled with a blush. I didn't want to think about having sex in this body…even though I had actually experienced an orgasm. I got curious in the shower okay. "You need to get dressed."
"You know I'm going to keep bugging you until you finally ask her out." She declared before she went off to her room. At least I had managed to get her off the Emiko trail. I knew that she would be mad at me if I approached her without her.
At that moment, my phone rang. It was Courtney.
"Is everything okay?" I answered.
"Yeah. I just wanted to ask you how everything went last night." She replied. I wasn't sure why she needed to call me for that.
"Yeah. He returned the money and everything went good." I declared.
"So I have something that I need to talk to you about." She stated. "Have you ever heard a guy called The Dodger?"
That was another name that I had forgotten about. He had put a bomb around Felicity's neck. I was a little afraid of what was going to happen with him but I had to make sure that he didn't kill anyone.
"I think we should talk about this more when we get to school." I declared. It would probably be easier.
I headed to school with Thea. It was weird having her drive me to school because I didn't expect her to have a driver's license. I did think that having a convertible was pretty flashy for the school parking lot. She probably also liked that her new car was not destroyed. It meant that I wouldn't get to talk to Iris before school that much. I was also surprised that Mom trusted her to take me to school.
I met up with Courtney as soon as I got there. I was pretty sure that Thea was smiling when I did that.
"So do you know why they call this guy The Dodger?" Courtney asked me.
"Because he's a big baseball fan?" I quipped.
"No, because he gets other people to do his crimes for him." She replied. "He uses bomb collars to get people to steal for him. Last year a guy in Madrid refused to steal something and it took his head off. Now he's here in Star City and we need to stop him."
"Well part of that does include finding him." I pointed out. "But yes I agree that we need to deal with him. I just might not be able to do it after school."
"Why not?" She inquired.
"Because my sister wants to spend time with me." I declared. I didn't know if my other sister would also want to spend time with me.
"Can't you tell her that you're busy?" She questioned.
"I'm trying to not alienate my family as much as when I first started doing this." I lied. Well I was trying to do that, but she also didn't understand how important this was to Thea. I decided to change the subject. "Does your family know about what you're doing at night at all?"
"Pat does but my mom and Mike don't." She explained.
"Does he know about me or Iris?" I inquired.
"No." She answered. "I wouldn't tell him your secret identity."
I did consider that maybe he suspected me or being the vigilante because Courtney was still hanging out a lot with me. I kind of felt like I should talk to him, but I wasn't entirely sure how that conversation would go. I also wondered if he didn't suspect me of being the vigilante and just thought that Courtney and I were dating, which would also be an awkward conversation to have.
I was currently taking a test for my World History class and I couldn't help but be surprised at how well I was doing in school. I knew that I was smart, but I never really considered myself to be booksmart. Maybe the fact that I was actually studying was a good thing. I did have to admit that it felt good to show my mom and Malcolm a report card consisting of straight As. I finished the test pretty quickly. I didn't know why they didn't let us take out of phones after we were done, but I supposed that they could be concerned about possibly texting the answers to someone else.
I could still meet at lunch with Courtney to talk about The Dodger. I had Iris on speaker because I didn't want to exclude her from the conversation. It was a little weird, but we didn't really have a better way to do things.
"So in order to find this guy, we either have to find out where he is or where he's going to be." I declared. I knew that would be easier said than done but we needed to start somewhere.
"Okay." Iris replied. "How are we going to do that?"
"I don't know yet." I admitted. I wished that I remembered how we got this guy the first time. "But we need to figure out what kind of jewel he's going after and we need to figure out why. That will help us catch him."
"Well you're really good at researching things. Maybe you can see what you can find out from his profile from Interpol." Courtney suggested. That could work. I was glad that I had learned so much about computers since the first time that I came back. "So what are you and Thea doing after school?"
"I can't tell you that. It's kind of personal." I explained. Part of me wondered what Courtney would think that I was doing that qualified as personal.
After school, Thea and I were together. Iris was there but only at a close enough distance to see, not hear us. Part of the reason that I didn't want to tell anyone about this was because I didn't exactly know how it was going to go.
"So here we are. This is the place where she likes to hang out." Thea replied.
"How about we just try to befriend her. We don't need to tell her that we share a father right away." I suggested.
"I like that idea, but we shouldn't keep it from her for long.' She stated. I agreed that it would probably be a bad idea to withhold that information as well. I just didn't think that we should lead with it.
The two of us walked into the coffee shop. I tried to think of a way to start a conversation that wouldn't make things sound weird. Maybe I could find some sort of common interest. I had to look for anything useful. It was a good thing that she was alone. I thought of something to ask that wouldn't sound too weird.
"Hey, what kind of coffee is that?" I asked.
"It's a mocha latte." She said without looking up at me. At that point, she looked up and beamed. "Oh my god. You're Olivia Queen."
"Yeah I am." I stated. She looked kind of starstruck to be honest.
"Sorry. I'm just a really big fan." She declared. Fan of me for what? That would make me being her sister kind of awkward. "Do you think that maybe I could interview you or something?
"Why do you want to interview her?" Thea inquired.
"For my school paper for one." Emiko answered.
"You know you haven't even told me your name yet." I pointed out. This was not going how I was expecting it to go. I still didn't think it would be the right time to tell her that I was her sister.
"Oh it's Emiko." She replied. "Sorry, I was just so surprised to see you here."
"Well Emiko, I'm not really ready for an interview right now." I explained. I also couldn't help but wonder what she wanted to ask me. "Do you think we can do it later?"
"Yeah, just let me give you my number and you can call me when you're ready." Emiko replied as she wrote it down.
"Okay. I'll do that." I agreed before I took Thea's hand and took her outside.
"Why did you do that?" She asked, "We could have told her."
"I think it would be better to do when she's a little bit less frantic." I pointed out. "I want her to get used to being around us more before I tell her that about our father. Also I really need to get to work. We're going to be opening soon and I have to make sure that everything is ready."
I had Iris take me to the club. I was currently having some people put up the sign. I met Courtney. I did need to make sure that she was properly trained to be a waitress. So we were going to be multitasking a little.
"So I found out that the police found a body in an art gallery. The victim was shot and three others were unconscious after taking an electrical pulse to the heart. That lines up with what several other people that involved with The Dodger." Courtney explained as I handed her a tray. "Do I really have to do this right now?"
"Yes, I know that we're discussing the case, but I'm also about to open this place and I need to know that you're ready." I told her. "Do we know anything about the victim?"
"He was arrested times for possession of stolen goods and was even convicted once." Courtney replied as she dropped the tray. Thankfully, the cups were plastic and empty. It was a good thing we were practicing.
"It looks like he's looking to find someone to unload this ruby to." Iris commented.
"So we find the buyer and we'll find The Dodger." I declared. I knew that even after we found him, but it was at least a start. "We'll look for any significant information while we continue to train."
"Something tells me that I shouldn't have agreed to work for you." Courtney muttered.
I was pretty sure that I wore her a little bit. Something told me that she had never worked before. I was also starting to interview some other people as well. I needed a few more waitresses. I also needed a bartender, a DJ, some people who were willing to clean It was definitely a lot harder when Tommy wasn't doing it for me. I was impressed that Thea was able to handle this.
One thing that I learned was that I really didn't have much of a social life right now. I supposed that I was okay with that for now. I would need to change in the future. I decided to have Iris take me to the ice cream parlor after we were done.
"Olivia?" A voice interrupted. I turned to see Felicity was there. Needless to say, I was a little bit surprised to see her. I blushed as soon as I did.
"It's Felicity, right?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm a little bit surprised that you remember me." The brunette admitted. "What are you doing here?"
"Well I'm getting ice cream." I explained. She tilted her head. "I just got done with work."
"You have a job?" She asked in surprise.
"I'm opening a teen club." I answered. I then thought that I should say something else. "This is Iris West. So, you wouldn't be interested in a job at all, would you?"
"What kind of job are we talking about?" Felicity asked.
"I kind of need someone who can do payroll." I explained. "I know I could hire an accountant for it, but I want to keep the staff relatively young."
"I've never done anything like that before." Felicity admitted.
"But you are good with computers. I'll you think about it. If you decide that you want to do it, I'll give the address of the place." I responded as I handed her my card.
"I don't think I've ever gotten a business card from someone like you before." She stated. "Someone as young as you…not as a pretty as you….or as rich…I'm gonna go now."
Felicity scurried off before I was left alone with Iris.
"Who was that?" She asked.
"Felicity Smoak. She's in the AV club at my school." I explained. "She helped me find out that Warren Patel was the one who hired Deadshot."
At that point, I got a text from Courtney. She had gotten a read on a potential sale involving The Dodger. I went back to suit up.
When I got there, I noticed that the cops were also there. Well that would make things a little more challenging. I could probably wait until he tried to escape. I shot an arrow as he started to do that. He was surprised when he looked up at me.
"Come quietly." I ordered.
"I'm afraid that I'm going to have to decline." He declared.
"Then I'm afraid that you aren't going to be going to jail." I countered as I aimed my bow at him. It seemed like true to his name, he was also good at dodging projectiles. I eventually went to corner him…only for him to throw one of his bomb collars in the air. It exploded. It didn't harm me in any way, but it did give him the opportunity to escape. I was not expecting to do that. I underestimated how crafty he was.
The following day at school, I met up with Courtney once again to discuss what had happened.
"You know I might have been able to help you if you hadn't worked me so hard last night." She said. "I'm sorry that he got away though. On the bright side, the police were able to recover the ruby and they caught the person trying to buy it as well."
"I don't think that we can assume that he's just going to stop." I pointed out.
"Yeah you're probably right. I guess this means that we don't have a lead anymore." She stated. "Do you have any idea where he might show up?"
"I'll look into everything that he's stolen so far. We know that he has a taste for a very specific type of antiquity." I declared as I realized that I could do such a thing on my phone. "Okay. I got a hit. "Okay it looks like everything that he has stolen has been from the Ominous Decade…which is the last ten years of King Ferdinand's reign."
"Well is there anywhere in the city that sells or displays memorabilia from that very specific time period?" She asked.
"No, but I have an idea. We could lure him out into the open at the Star City Cancer Society's charity auction." I declared.
"Are you going to use a fake?" She inquired.
"No. He'll know if it's a fake. That's why I'm going to go with something real." I declared.
"Are you saying that you have some rare Spanish antiquities just lying around your house?" She asked.
"Yes." I remarked.
At that point, I got a call from Emiko.
"I need to go take this." I replied as I headed to the bathroom. "Emiko?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry for calling during school hours, but I'm a little bit on a deadline. Do you think that I could possibly interview you tonight?"
"I have this big charity auction tonight." I told her.
"That's perfect because my mom was making me go to that as well." She stated. That was a bit of a coincidence. The one thing that I did remember about The Dodger was that he used one of his bomb collars on Felicity. I wasn't sure about the extent of my powers, but I didn't to risk having my head blown up because that might be something that could kill me.
"I guess we can talk for a few minutes." I relented. I couldn't let her know that me being there was going to be a trap for The Dodger, which meant that I might have to keep her safe from him. I really hoped that I wouldn't need to do that. I didn't want to put my sister's life in danger, especially since she didn't even know that she was my sister yet.
I would have to do a few things at the club before I could go to the event. I was currently in the process of doing a few interviews. I wondered if Emiko would be interested in working for me. Maybe it was something that I could bring up when we did the interview.
I had just finished interviewing a potential waitress when I saw someone else walk in. I couldn't help but smile a little when I saw her.
"Felicity. It's good to see you." I told her as I went over to her.
"I hope it's alright that I showed up right now. You're probably kind of busy." She babbled.
"Actually, I just finished up with my interviews but I have a few minutes to talk to you." I declared. "Come up to my office with me."
She walked up there with me and I could tell that she seemed to be impressed.
"So do you have any questions?" I asked. I noticed that seemed to break her out of her daze. "Felicity?"
"Sorry. I'm just impressed that you were able to build a place like this." She admitted. "It looks so good."
"Thank you. I really wanted it to appeal to teenagers, even though I am going to be letting anyone 20 and under inside." I explained.
"So why do you think that I would be a good bookkeeper?" She asked.
"Well I know that you're really good with computers and I think you were prefer a job where you get to use your brain." I replied. She gave me a look. I forgot that her babbling could be contagious at times. "That's not to say that I don't think that I don't you're not pretty enough for a floor job, but I know that you would excel at this…I assume you know how to use Excel."
"So what exactly would you be doing as owner?" She inquired.
"Really whatever is required of me. I would be making schedules and scheduling entertainment, but I may also need to cover if someone calls out sick or something and I would to make sure that we always have enough supplies." I replied. "Does this mean that you're willing to give this a chance?"
"I guess so." Felicity replied. "But I am not going to be a waitress under any circumstances. You don't want to trust me with liquids."
That night, I had changed into a purple dress to go to the auction. I had a feeling that everything would work out, but I still didn't want to take any chances. I had gotten a rare broach that I knew The Dodger would not be able to resist. Malcolm was more than happy to donate it, even though he wondered why I wanted to go with that particular item when he said that there was probably some artifacts that could fetch a higher return. I just told him that I thought it looked nice.
I found Iris first. She was also wearing a dress. I had to say that she looked good in dresses, even if they weren't the most professional outfits.
"Well the police are here. It looks like your bait has attracted them at least." She remarked. I should have known that they would notice that my donation was of the era that The Dodger was looking for.
At that moment, I couldn't help but notice Courtney, She was wearing a white lace long-sleeved dress and had her hair straightened. She looked really beautiful. I wished that I wasn't so attracted to her.
"You really need to ask her out already." Iris whispered.
"That would be not a good idea." I remarked.
"So I can't believe that you're using a real piece of jewelry as bait. So far I'm not getting any readings on the GPS that you put in it." She stated.
"Olivia?" Emiko interrupted. I looked at her and she was wearing a strapless navy dress. "Is it a good time to do the interview?"
"What interview?" Courtney asked. I knew that she was probably wondering who Emiko was and I noticed that she seemed like she was a little bit jealous. I grimaced a little at that.
"This is Emiko. She wanted to interview me for her school's paper." I declared. "Yeah, I think we can do that right now. Let's go somewhere more private."
I took her away and Courtney definitely looked jealous. I knew that I should tell her that Emiko was my sister, but I was pretty sure that Thea didn't want me to tell anyone else.
"So why don't we start with what your family has donated tonight?" She requested.
"It's a rare broach from the Ominous Decade; the last 10 years of King Ferdinand's reign." I explained.
"So how does it feel knowing that you were falsely accused of being a vigilante?" She asked. I couldn't believe that she went there.
"I can't answer that. My lawyers advised me not to talk about that, even to something as small as a high school paper." I answered.
At that point, I got a text from Courtney. She said that she needed to see me immediately. I really hoped that it wasn't just her being jealous. Actually, when I thought about it, I would probably prefer that but I had a feeling that it was something much worse.
"I'm sorry. I have to cut this interview short." I told her. "I have somewhere I need to be."
I went off to find Courtney and Iris and just as I expected, Courtney had one of the bomb collars around her neck. That was definitely a problem. I figured the first thing that we should do was to get her away from the crowd.
"I really wish that I had the staff right about now." She stated. I had a feeling that probably wouldn't go the way that she thought it would. I was a little surprised that he was willing to harm a teenager, but I supposed people like him didn't have morals.
"Courtney, please calm down. I'm going to get this off of you." I assured her. "I can find him and get him to disarm it."
"Go. I have this." Iris instructed as she opened up the collar. I had to say that it was the first time that I had seen Courtney look scared, but it was probably also the first time that she had been helpless. She couldn't do anything at the risk of being killed. I ran off to find The Dodger.
I started to use the tracker follow him. He was going kind of fast but I could also move pretty fast. I started to make my way towards him. I knew that I wouldn't have a lot of time but I also really hoped that there wasn't any sort of timer on the bomb collar. Even though I didn't want to admit, I was still pretty nervous. I made my way down the street. It was as good thing that I kept my hood in my bag. I took a shot, shooting out his tire, causing his car to crash. He crawled out of the car and pulled out a gun.
"Don't do anything stupid. I had the foresight to collar up a particularly inquisitive blonde. I assume that she's a friend of yours." He stated. "It seems like you have quite the choice to make."
"Not this time." I declared before I threw an arrow into his wrist. "I don't think you'll be pushing any buttons right now."
I took the remote from him and pushed the button to deactivate the collar.
"Why are you doing this?" He asked. "I'm exactly like you. I only steal from the rich."
He then took out his stun stick, but I was ready and I grabbed it and used it on him. Of course I wouldn't be able to take the broach back. I would have to wait for the police to return it to me. I wondered if it would go with any of my outfits…no probably not.
The following morning, I called Emiko over. I knew that I needed to apologize for bailing on her, but I knew that it was time to tell her the truth. I made sure that Thea would be with me for it.
"So let me start by saying that I'm sorry for last night." I stated.
"Well nearly having your family's jewelry stolen does count as an emergency." She declared.
"Emiko, we haven't been completely honest with you." I declared as I looked at Thea. "My sister was investigating a potential affair that she thinks our father was having. While she was doing that, she couldn't help but notice that our dad seemed to know your mom and there are a lot of photos with the two of them together."
"What are you saying?" She inquired. "Do you think that I'm your sister or something?"
"No." Thea answered. "Olivia suggested that I shouldn't just entertain it as a theory, so I decided to get some proof. I found some of your hair and compared them to mine. We don't think you're our sister. We know that you're our sister."
After we did that, I knew that there was someone else that I needed to talk to, so I went to her house.
"So I assume that you're mad at me for hiding things from you and almost getting you killed." I declared. "I'm here to explain everything. I just need you to listen."
"You found a girlfriend. What's there to say?" She asked.
"Courtney, Emiko is not my girlfriend." I told her. "She's my sister."
So Emiko finally made her appearance and you can tell that there are still some feeling between Courtney and Olivia, but will that be complicated with Felicity in the picture. Emiko is played by Paris Berelc. Please don't forget to review.
