Chapter 48: To Become A Pillar
The remnants of Team Humanity gathered in the aftermath of their pyrrhic victory, the air heavy with the weight of loss. The battlefield was a somber reminder of the price they had paid, the bodies of their fallen comrades scattered and broken. The silence was deafening, a stark contrast to the chaos that had preceded it.
Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi approached the scene, their expressions grim. They found Lee and Tien amidst the devastation, both warriors bearing the physical and emotional scars of the battle.
Lee was kneeling beside the lifeless body of Gai, his mentor and father figure. His tears fell freely, soaking into the ground. "Gai-sensei... I couldn't save you," he whispered, his voice breaking with sorrow. His gaze shifted to Tenten's still form, and his heart ached with the weight of his failure. "Tenten... I'm so sorry."
Tien stood silently over Chiaotzu's small, dismembered body. His usually stoic face was etched with grief. "You were my best friend, Chiaotzu. I should have been there for you." His voice was low, filled with a deep, abiding sorrow. He clenched his fists, struggling to contain his emotions.
Kakashi's eyes softened as he watched Lee. He placed a hand on the young ninja's shoulder. "Lee, Gai wouldn't want you to blame yourself. He knew the risks. He died a hero."
Lee's tears continued to fall, but he nodded, appreciating Kakashi's words even if they couldn't ease his pain. "I know, Kakashi-sensei, but it doesn't make it hurt any less."
Sasuke's gaze swept over the scene, his heart heavy with the burden of their loss. He felt a pang of guilt, a deep regret that he couldn't save them. "They didn't deserve this," he muttered, his voice laced with bitterness. "We should have been stronger."
Naruto, usually the beacon of hope and energy, was uncharacteristically quiet. His eyes were shadowed with grief as he looked at the bodies of the fallen. "I should have been here with em. I should have done something, been faster." His fists clenched in frustration and sorrow. "This isn't how it's supposed to end."
The group fell into a somber silence, each lost in their own thoughts and regrets. The sense of finality quite frankly unbearable.
Kakashi broke the silence, his voice steady but filled with an underlying sadness. "We need to give them a proper burial. All of them deserve that much for their sacrifice."
Lee nodded, wiping his tears away with the back of his damaged hand. "Gai-sensei would have wanted us to honor their memory."
Naruto took a deep breath, trying to steady his emotions. "We'll build a memorial. A place where we can remember them and their sacrifice. It's the least we can do at this point."
As the group gathered the bodies of their fallen comrades, the air was heavy with sorrow and the weight of their recent losses. The grim task was performed in silence, each movement a tribute to the fallen, a way of honoring their sacrifice.
Lee, cradling Tenten's lifeless body, whispered softly, "You were always so optimistic, Tenten. I promise I'll keep fighting, for you, for Gai-sensei. I won't let your deaths be in vain."
Tien, carrying the dismembered form of Chiaotzu, murmured with a heavy heart, "Rest well, my friend. I'll keep your memory alive. I'll fight on, for you."
Naruto and Sasuke worked side by side, their shared grief binding them in a somber silence. As they laid the bodies to rest, Kakashi stood before them, his voice steady but laden with emotion.
"We've lost many today," Kakashi began, his tone measured. "Friends, mentors, comrades. They fought for a better future, for peace. To stop a force that threatened to end the world as we know it. We owe it to them to keep fighting, to honor their sacrifice."
Naruto nodded, his voice resolute. "We'll keep fighting. For them. For the future they believed in. We won't let their deaths be in vain. We'll become stronger. We'll make sure this never happens again."
Tien's expression darkened, his voice tinged with bitterness. "Do we really? The strongest of my village are dead, forever. Our actions and efforts meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. We were sheep for the slaughter against more powerful predators. The optimism and fire is cute, but it's the furthest thing from the truth. We didn't stand a chance in hell; that bravado meant absolutely nothing when it was time to put our ryo where our mouths were."
Naruto looked at Tien, his eyes filled with both understanding and defiance. "I get where you're coming from, Tien. We faced overwhelming odds. But quitting isn't an option. We have to keep going."
Tien scoffed, his frustration evident. "And what good does it do? We keep fighting, but for what? To watch more of our friends die? To face enemies we can never hope to defeat?"
Sasuke, his gaze introspective, spoke up. "I used to ask the same questions, especially after the Uchiha Massacre. I felt insurmountably weak, like nothing I did mattered. But running away or giving up wasn't the answer."
Naruto interjected, "We've all felt that despair, Tien. But if we don't fight, if we don't try to make a difference, then what's the point? Our friends didn't just die for nothing."
Kakashi, ever the realist, added, "Tien's right to some extent. We faced power today that far exceeded our own, especially earlier on. But it's not just about raw strength. It's about resilience, about standing up even when we know we might fall."
Lee's voice was soft but firm. "Gai-sensei taught me that it's not about winning every fight. It's about the spirit, the effort we put into every battle. We may be weak compared to some, but we can't let that stop us."
Tien's eyes were hard, his jaw clenched. "Spirit and effort didn't save Chiaotzu or the others. We need more than just determination. We need real power."
Sasuke's gaze was piercing as he looked at Tien. "Power alone isn't enough either. There's more to it than that."
Naruto stepped closer to Tien, his voice earnest. "We've all lost people we care about. We've all faced moments where it felt hopeless. But we have to believe in something greater than our individual struggles. We have to believe in a future where this kind of pain doesn't happen as much as we can help it."
Kakashi nodded, his eyes filled with the weight of his experiences. "We were weak compared to the likes of the Androids, Kaguya, Piccolo Daimao, and even Son Goku. But together, we have something they don't except Goku once again: the will to protect each other, to fight for a future worth living in. The Will of Fire."
Tien's expression softened slightly, though his skepticism remained. "It's hard to see that future when all I can see are the bodies of literally everyone else from my village."
Lee, his voice filled with a quiet strength, said, "Which is exactly why we need to fight. For those who can't anymore. For those who believed in us till their last breath."
Sasuke's voice was cold but determined. "Tien's right about this however: we can't afford to lie to ourselves about our weaknesses. That being said, we also can't afford to give up because of them. We have to find a way to adapt and overcome."
The group stood in a heavy silence, the weight of their losses pressing down on them. The battlefield, once a theater of grand battles and fierce determination, now lay in somber silence.
The air was thick with despair as Goku descended from the sky, cradling Hinata's lifeless body in his arms. His face, usually so full of life and hope, was now etched with grief and sorrow. The sight broke the already fragile spirits of the surviving members of Team Humanity.
Damn, not Goku too...
As Goku landed, his transformation was evident. His muscularity, bone density, and height had seemingly increased, making him look a few years older and more imposing relative to his previous visage. The once-boyish Saiyan now appeared every bit his age, if not older, his rigorous presence almost overwhelming.
Naruto rushed to his side, his heart clenching at the sight of Hinata. "Goku, lemme try something," he said, his voice trembling. He placed his hands over her, channeling all his healing abilities, but to no avail. The light in his eyes dimmed as he realized he couldn't save her. "No... Hinata..."
As Sasuke approached Goku, holding Hinata's lifeless body, a whirlwind of memories surged through his mind. The numerous spars and training sessions he had with Hinata, her unwavering determination, and the bond they had developed over time were all vivid in his thoughts. They had fought side by side against Kabuto and Orochimaru's goons, their coordination and trust in each other making them a formidable team. Hinata had become like a sister to him, someone he could rely on and trust implicitly.
Seeing her lifeless form now brought tears to his eyes, grief and heartbreak overwhelming him. The pain was almost too much to bear. He remembered how Goku had been there for him when Haku was on the brink of death. Goku's unwavering support had seen him through one of the darkest moments of his life. Multiple times in fact, even as recently as a few days ago when Goku allowed him to try to eviscerate him in order to allow his emotions to properly run wild.
Now, it was his turn to offer that same support to his friend.
Sasuke knelt beside Goku, placing a hand on his shoulder. His voice was soft but filled with emotion. "Goku," he began, struggling to keep his voice steady. "I know it hurts. I'm here for you."
Goku looked up, his eyes devoid of the same energy. He couldn't find the words to respond, but Sasuke's presence was a small comfort in his immense grief.
Sasuke's thoughts drifted back to the times he and Hinata had trained together. Her gentle but firm encouragement, her strength, and simply her belief in him. They had become like siblings, their bond forged in the fires of battle and the shared goal of protecting those they cared about.
And now, seeing her lifeless body, the pain of losing her was unbearable.
Sasuke's mind then drifted to their fight against Kabuto and Orochimaru's goons. They had fought with perfect synchronicity, their movements fluid and precise. Hinata's Byakugan and his Sharingan had made them an unstoppable force. They had trusted each other completely, knowing that they had each other's backs no matter what.
And now she was gone.
"Goku," Sasuke said again, his voice choked with emotion. "Hinata was like a sister to me. Losing her... it's like losing another cherished member of my clan... "
Goku nodded slowly, his grip tightening around Hinata's body. "I'll never let this happen again," he whispered.
Sasuke squeezed Goku's shoulder, offering what little comfort he could. "We'll get through this. We don't have a choice."
Goku's eyes were hollow, staring at Hinata's peaceful face. "Whatever. There's nothing we can do," he whispered, his voice breaking.
Even Son Goku... was without hope.
Kakashi, ever the strategist, brought up the Dragon Balls. "Goku, what about the Dragon Balls? Can't we use them to bring her back?"
Goku shook his head. "We'd have to wait a whole year to make a wish. By then... it might be too late. There's nothing we can do."
Lee, seeing Goku of all people broken, felt his own spirit shatter. "If Goku is this devastated," he muttered, "what hope do we have?"
Tien, his face a mask of bitterness, spoke up. "There you have it! Another example of why talk is cheap in the face of results. We were supposed to die today, against power we couldn't hope to defeat. And now, we're left with nothing but shattered dreams and broken bodies. What a fabulous job we did."
Goku's eyes looked up. "Maybe I should fight alone against guys of that level. If it means no one else has to die, then it's worth it."
Naruto, Sasuke, and even Kakashi immediately protested, but Goku held up a hand to silence them. "If you're gonna fight with me, you need to get stronger. Enough is enough. If not, you'll just get in the way. Be honest about it. Against Orochimaru and Kabuto, the only one who could really beat them was me. Against Piccolo Daimao, the only one who could beat him was me. And if Kaguya showed her face again, the only who could beat her on our own is still me!"
Sasuke nodded, his tone cold and factual. "He's right. There's no denying that."
Lee, usually the embodiment of youthful energy, conceded with a heavy heart. "Goku has been our only hope many times."
He ripped off his green spandex shirt, revealing his battered upper body, and then tied his hitai-aite around his forehead. His demeanor and tone of voice deepened, changing from hyper-energetic to seasoned and composed. "I am no longer the Green Beast. I will be the Black Fist of Konoha, a memento to Tenten and Gai-sensei. I need to be something new."
Naruto, struggling to process the changes around him, started to protest, but Sasuke cut him off. "Shut up, Naruto. This isn't the time for your idealism."
Kakashi stepped forward, trying to offer some consolation. "Goku, we understand your pain. But Hinata wouldn't have—"
The moment he said "Hinata," Goku's demeanor changed. His muscles tensed, his eyes flashed yellow with black pupils, and he seemed immediately on the brink of losing control. His aura turned a menacing green, his rage more than palpable. The ground beneath him cracked and trembled with vigor, as his emotions began to run rampant.
Everyone else froze, terrified of Goku's murderous, savage emotion. The power radiating from him was unlike anything they had felt nor seen before. It was as if Kaguya herself was a mere house cat next to the lion that was Son Goku.
Naruto, wide-eyed with fear, whispered, "Goku... please, calm down."
Kakashi, trying to maintain his composure, spoke cautiously. "Goku, we're on your side. We want to help."
Goku's eyes bore into Kakashi, his voice a low growl. "Don't. Say. Her. Name."
The tension was unbearable, the air thick with fear and uncertainty. But then, Lee, finding the courage deep within, stepped forward. "Goku," he said, his voice steady but filled with remorse, "we were reckless. I'm truly sorry for what happened."
Goku's rage began to subside, the green aura dimming. He turned his back to the group, still holding Hinata gently in his arms. "I don't think she would appreciate if I killed any of you. I can at least honor her that way."
The rest of the group let out a collective breath, the fear still lingering in their eyes. Tien's point stood stronger and stronger in their minds. They were weak, and they needed to accept that harsh reality.
The resounding proof was Son Goku.
As Goku remained turned away from the group, holding Hinata's body close, they watched him with a mixture of awe and fear. The transformation in him was more than physical; it was a testament to the immense power and responsibility he carried. They knew that they needed to rise to meet the challenges ahead, not just for their own sakes, but for the future they all hoped to build. Despair continued to creep within the group. The weight of their losses felt insurmountable. It seemed as if all hope was lost.
But amidst the gloom, Sasuke's mind was racing. He remembered his Rinnegan's abilities, the power to revive at the cost of his own life. The thought lingered, but he wasn't sure if he had the strength to make such a sacrifice.
"There might be a way," he began, hesitant. "I could use the Rinnegan to revive everyone... but it would cost me my life."
Naruto's reaction was immediate and emphatic. "Hell no, Sasuke! We're not losing you too. If anyone should do it, it's me! I just need a pair of Rinnegan and this damn nightmare will be over!"
Goku, still seated on the ground with Hinata in his arms, spoke up as calmly as he could. "I fought six guys earlier who had those swirly purple eyes like Sasuke. Maybe... just maybe, there's someone else out there who can do it."
Naruto and Sasuke exchanged a glance, a spark of hope igniting within them. The weight of the moment seemed to crystallize their determination, their shared goal binding them together in purpose.
Sasuke activated his Rinnegan, scanning the landscape with its unparalleled perception. "There's a distinct chakra signature," he said, his voice steady despite the chaos around them. "It's coming from the east, not too far from here."
Naruto, his senses attuned to the faintest traces of chakra, nodded in agreement. "I can feel it too. It's strong, but there's something... different about it. We need to move fast."
Sasuke's knowledge of the shinobi world allowed him to pinpoint the location of the chakra. His mind raced through the possibilities until one name stood out. "Amegakure," he said with certainty. "There's someone there who might have the Rinnegan. We can... coerce him into helping us."
Kakashi nodded thoughtfully. "I'll stay back and see if the bodies around us actually get revived. If this works, we'll know for sure."
Lee and Tien gave them looks of slight hope despite their devastation. The former voiced his regards, "We'll hold the fort here. Go save them, guys."
Tien, his usually stoic face showing a glimmer of hope, added, "Do whatever it takes. Bring them back."
With newfound resolve, Naruto, Sasuke, and Goku took flight towards Amegakure. Goku, lagging slightly behind due to the weight of Hinata's body, felt a mixture of hope and despair. The landscape below them blurred into a mosaic of colors as they soared through the sky, their minds focused on the daunting task ahead.
As they flew, Naruto glanced at Sasuke, his voice tinged with urgency. "Sasuke, do you think this person will help us willingly?"
Sasuke's eyes narrowed, the Rinnegan still active. "If not willingly, we'll make him see reason. We don't have any other choice."
Goku, cradling Hinata protectively, chimed in, his voice fierce. "Whoever they are, they will help us. It's not optional."
As they neared Amegakure, the rain-soaked village loomed before them, shrouded in mist and mystery. Sasuke's Rinnegan flared as he scanned the area. "We're looking for the two strongest chakra's here. They're the key."
Naruto, his eyes sharp and focused, added, "Let's move. We don't have time to waste."
Goku, cradling Hinata protectively, nodded. "Lead the way."
The rain poured heavily over Amegakure, each drop a reminder of the somber atmosphere that enveloped the village. The towering structures loomed ominously as Goku, Naruto, and Sasuke approached. The walls and doors leading to their target were no match for their fury. They busted through with a force that sent shockwaves through the air, their entrance nothing short of an explosion.
BOOM! The walls crumbled, and the doors flew off their hinges as the trio stormed into the inner sanctum. There, surrounded by a dim, eerie light, stood Nagato and Konan. The air was thick as the two sides faced each other for the first time.
Nagato, seated in his mechanical walker, looked up with an expression of calm authority. "So, the saviors of the world have arrived," he said, his Rinnegan eyes piercing through the gloom.
Konan stood beside him, her gaze profound. "We've been expecting you," she added, her voice cold and steady.
Naruto, his eyes filled with determination, stepped forward. "You know who we are?" he demanded.
Nagato nodded. "Of course. I am Nagato, and this is Konan. We are the leaders of the Akatsuki. We've heard much about you, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and the mythical boy himself, Son Goku."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed, his hand instinctively moving towards his sword. "Then you know why we're here."
Goku, too emotional and irrational to hold back any longer, pointed an erratic ki blast at them that illuminated the room with a fierce blue light. "Revive Hinata and the others right now, or I'll smoke both of you!" he shouted, his voice echoing off the walls.
Nagato remained unfazed, his gaze steady. "And why should I do that?"
Naruto quickly placed a hand on Goku's arm, trying to calm him down. "Goku, wait," he said, his voice soothing. "We need to handle this carefully."
Sasuke, his eyes still locked on Nagato, spoke up. "We need you to use the Rinnegan to bring back our friends and the rest of the unfortunate casualties of battle. We've lost too many people."
Konan's eyes flashed with emotion. "You think we'll just comply with your demands? We've suffered losses too."
Nagato's voice was calm but firm. "Why should we help you? What do you know of our pain?"
Goku, his voice trembling with anger and grief, responded, "I don't give a damn about your pain! Hinata is dead because of things outta her control, and I won't let her sacrifice be in vain!"
The tension in the room was palpable. Naruto, sensing the need for diplomacy, stepped forward. "Nagato, Konan, we understand loss. We've lost friends, mentors, and loved ones. But these recent battles has taken too much from all of us. We need to stop the cycle of hatred and bring back those we've lost."
Nagato's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "And what makes you think you can end this cycle? You, who have known only the privilege of being hailed as heroes?"
Goku's jaw tightened. "Heroes? Maybe in some stories, but in others, I'm the villain. I couldn't care less. I just want Hinata back."
Naruto's face twisted with pain and defiance. "Privilege? You have no idea what I've been through. I've been shunned, hated, and feared my whole life because of the Kyuubi inside me. I know what it's like to be alone, to be treated like a monster."
Sasuke's voice was cold like Haku, each word a shard of ice. "We're not asking for your help. We're demanding it. If you refuse, we'll just take the Rinnegan by force."
Konan's wings flared out behind her, each paper feather sharp and ready. "You'll find that's not as easy as you think, Uchiha."
Goku's ki blast grew brighter, the power within it crackling with intensity, the room glowing brighter due to the luminesce blue ki.
"I won't ask again," he warned, his voice a low growl.
Naruto stepped forward, placing himself between Goku and Nagato, his hands raised in a gesture of peace. "Please, let's talk this through. We're all aware of what's happened. Obito's betrayal, the fall of the Akatsuki, the rise and fall of Piccolo Daimao, freaking Rabbit Goddess Kaguya. We know the death toll has been catastrophic."
Nagato's eyes flickered with a hint of sorrow. "You speak of suffering, but you have not seen true pain. You have not watched your friends die, your village burn. You do not carry the weight of countless lives lost because of your decisions."
Naruto's expression softened. "I've lost friends. I've seen my village almost destroyed. But I haven't given up. We haven't given up. We want to create a world where that kind of pain doesn't exist anymore."
Konan's wings lowered slightly, her eyes meeting Naruto's with a mixture of suspicion and curiosity. "And how do you propose we heal this world?"
Naruto took a deep breath, his voice steady. "By working together. By understanding each other's pain and finding a way to move forward. We've seen what division and hatred lead to. We need to be better."
Nagato's grip on the armrests of his mechanical walker tightened. "Words are easy. Actions are what matter."
Sasuke's eyes blazed. "Then let's act. Help us revive those we've lost. Help us bring back the people who can make a difference."
Nagato studied them for a long moment, the weight of his decision pressing heavily on his shoulders. He glanced at Konan, who gave him a slight nod. He looked at the trio with a mixture of curiosity and solemnity.
"You seek our help, yet you know nothing of our pain," he began, his voice calm and measured.
Konan, her paper wings rustling softly, added, "Perhaps it's time you understood why we became what we are."
Naruto's eyes narrowed. "We're listening."
Nagato took a deep breath, his eyes distant as he began to recount his story. "I was born in the Hidden Rain Village, a place torn apart by war. My parents were killed before my eyes by Konoha shinobi. They mistook us for enemies. I was left alone, wandering the ruins of my home, until I met Konan and Yahiko."
Konan's eyes softened as she remembered those days. "We were just children, but we were determined to survive. We met Jiraiya-sensei, who trained us and gave us hope. But the peace we sought was always out of reach."
Nagato's voice grew colder. "Yahiko's death was the turning point. He was our leader, our hope for a better future. His death shattered us, and in my grief and rage, I awakened the Rinnegan. I became Pain, determined to bring peace through any means necessary."
Sasuke's eyes gleamed with understanding. "You chose to become the very thing you hated to achieve your goals."
Nagato nodded. "Yes. I believed that only through pain and suffering could people truly understand each other. I led the Akatsuki, using fear to try to control the world and bring about peace."
Goku, holding Hinata's limp form, listened intently, his heart heavy with his own memories. He remembered their training sessions, their shared laughter, and the moments of quiet understanding. Hinata had always believed in him... damnit.
"I get it," he said softly, his voice trembling with emotion. "I get wanting to protect what you care about. Hinata and I... we dreamed of fighting the good fight, of protecting our friends and bettering ourselves. But using fear and pain... that's not the way."
Nagato's gaze softened slightly as he looked at Goku. "You have a pure heart, Goku. But the world is not as simple as you wish it to be."
Sasuke stepped forward, his voice cold and resolute. "I understand the necessity of fear. After learning the truth about Itachi, I realized that peace can only be achieved when the world fears someone enough to avoid conflict. I kind of plan to become that shadow, that necessary evil."
Naruto's eyes widened in shock. "Sasuke, you can't mean that! There has to be another way."
Sasuke's gaze was unwavering. "The world needs a deterrent, someone to remind them of the consequences of war. I'm willing to be that person if it means achieving peace."
Nagato's eyes met Sasuke's, a flicker of understanding passing between them. "You too are willing to bear the burden of hatred, just as I was."
Goku shook his head. "That's not what Hinata would want. She believed in fighting for what's right, not through fear, but through hope and your own strength."
Konan, who had been silent, finally spoke up. "Hope is a fragile thing. It can be crushed so easily. But perhaps... perhaps there is a way to balance both."
Naruto's eyes lit up with a spark of hope. "What do you mean?"
Konan looked at Nagato. "We can use the Rinnegan to bring back those who have been lost, but it must be done with care. We cannot simply undo everything without considering the consequences."
Nagato nodded. "If we are to help you, we need to understand your true intentions. What will you do once your friends are revived?"
Goku's eyes met Nagato's. "We'll fight to protect this world, to make sure something like this never happens again. We'll honor the memories of those we've lost by creating a future worth fighting for."
Naruto stepped forward, his voice strong and determined. "We'll rebuild, not just with strength, but with understanding and compassion. We'll find a way to create a lasting peace."
Sasuke's voice was cold but sincere. "And if necessary, I'll be the shadow that keeps the peace. I won't let the shinobi world fall into chaos again because of its inherent nature."
Nagato and Konan exchanged a glance, their minds weighed down by the gravity of the decision before them. The former finally spoke, his voice measured and calm. "You speak of ideals, of dreams. But the reality is far more complex. If we are to help you, we need assurance that your path will not lead to more suffering."
The rain continued to pour outside, a constant reminder of the sorrow that constantly enveloped Amegakure throughout the midnight and early morning periods. As they debated and discussed, the sound of fluttering wings filled the air, drawing their attention.
A flock of crows suddenly materialized, their black feathers filling the room before coalescing into a familiar figure.
Itachi Uchiha emerged from the shadows, his presence immediately commanding attention.
Sasuke's eyes widened, a mixture of shock and anger crossing his face. Instinctively, he charged a Chidori, the electric crackling filling the room with tension. "Itachi!" he growled, his voice filled with a mix of emotions.
Naruto quickly placed a hand on Sasuke's wrist, shaking his head. "Wait, Sasuke. We need to hear him out."
Itachi's calm, steady gaze met Sasuke's. "I come in peace," he said softly, his voice carrying the weight of his past actions. "There is much to discuss."
Sasuke hesitated, the Chidori fading as he reluctantly lowered his hand. "Speak quickly, brother."
Itachi turned to face the group, his eyes taking in the scene. "I understand the pain and loss each of you carries," he began, his voice measured and eloquent. "I know what it means to sacrifice everything for the sake of a greater good."
Nagato's eyes narrowed. "And what do you know of our pain, Itachi? You disappeared from the Akatsuki without a word."
Itachi nodded, his expression somber. "I left because I could no longer support the Akatsuki's methods. Pain and suffering cannot be the path to peace. I disagreed with using terror to control the world."
Konan's eyes softened slightly. "Then what do you propose?"
Itachi's gaze shifted to Naruto, Sasuke, and Goku. "I propose we follow the examples of these three. Naruto, the future Hokage, represents hope and determination. Sasuke, his shadow, embodies the necessary strength and resolve to protect that hope. And Goku, the most powerful force in the world, shows that strength can be used to protect rather than destroy."
Sasuke's eyes flickered with a mixture of emotions. "Itachi, if you truly want to atone, then tell me this: should I kill you for what you did to our clan?"
Itachi's gaze softened as he looked at his brother. "If that is what you desire, then I will accept it. But know that I acted to protect the village and you."
Sasuke shook his head, his voice filled with conviction. "No. It wasn't your fault. It was the powers that be—Danzo and the others. They are the ones who deserve justice."
Itachi's expression was unreadable. "We will discuss this further, Sasuke. But for now, our focus must be on the present, not the past."
Goku refused to let go of the girl in his arms as he spoke up once more. "She believed in the good in people, including myself." His voice trembled with emotion once more. "I won't let her sacrifice be in vain."
Nagato's eyes softened as he observed Goku's anguish. "She meant a lot to you," he said quietly. "I can see that."
Goku nodded, his grip on Hinata tightening. "She was the best friend I could ask for... my confidante. She...she... "
He could no longer speak. It was too painful.
Konan's gaze turned thoughtful. "Perhaps there is a way for us to achieve that dream, but it will require more than just strength."
Itachi nodded in agreement. "We must rebuild the Akatsuki, not as a force of terror, but as a beacon of peace and justice. We can defend the world, not through fear, but through hope and cooperation."
Nagato and Konan exchanged a glance, their minds working through the possibilities. "And what becomes of us?" the former asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Naruto stepped forward. "You become part of the solution. Together, we can protect this world and ensure that the sacrifices of those we've lost were not in vain."
Sasuke's gaze was intense. "We can create an organization that stands for justice, that prevents the kind of pain we've all experienced."
Nagato considered their words carefully. "Rebuilding the Akatsuki as an organization of peace and justice... It's a noble idea, but it will not be easy."
Konan nodded. "The world will need to see that we have changed, that our goals are different now."
Itachi chimed in. "Then we show them. We work together to defend the world, to stand against those who would willingly bring harm and suffering to it."
Nagato's gaze shifted to Itachi, a flicker of hope in his eyes. "And you believe this can be done?"
Itachi nodded. "I do. But it will require all of us working together, trusting each other."
Konan's eyes softened as she looked at Nagato. "We have always sought peace. Perhaps this is our chance to achieve it in a different way than we thought possible."
Goku, still holding Hinata, spoke up. "I believe in this... For Hinata... for everyone we lost."
Itachi's gaze was filled with respect as he looked at the youngest trio in the room. "You three have the power to change the world. I will support you in any way I can."
Nagato took a deep breath, his decision made. "Very well. We will work together to rebuild the Akatsuki as an organization actively of peace and justice."
Konan nodded in agreement. "Let this be the start of a new chapter. One where we fight not with fear, but with hope."
The newly formed alliance of Nagato, Konan, Naruto, Sasuke, Goku, and Itachi stood in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Nagato, seated in his mechanical walker, broke the silence with a resolute voice.
"I will perform the Rinne Tensei as the first act of the Shinsei Akatsuki, the Reborn Dawn," the Uzumaki declared.
Konan's eyes widened with worry. "Nagato, are you sure about this? It will likely cost you your life. I can't afford to lose you too."
Nagato turned to Konan, their shared history reflected in their gaze. "Konan, we have always sought peace. This is our chance to achieve it, to carry out Yahiko's mission. We've been pawns in a game played by Madara Uchiha, a false name given to us by the Masked Man. It's time we took control of our destiny."
The mention of Madara Uchiha caught the attention of the others. Naruto's eyes narrowed. "Madara? You mean Obito Uchiha. He's the one who betrayed you all."
Nagato nodded. "Yes, Obito. He manipulated us, using our pain to further his own goals. But we are not powerless. We can change this."
Naruto, his voice filled with curiosity, asked, "Tell us about Yahiko. What kind of person was he?"
Konan's expression softened, a bittersweet smile playing on her lips. "Yahiko was our leader, our beacon of hope. He believed in achieving peace through understanding and strength. Even in death, his ideals lived on through the Deva Path of Pain."
Nagato continued, his voice filled with reverence. "Yahiko's dream was a world without pain and suffering. He believed in the potential for humanity to change. Naruto, you remind me of him. Your determination and hope mirror his."
Itachi, his voice calm and persuasive, addressed Nagato and Konan. "You have the chance to honor Yahiko's legacy by making a different choice. We must join them in building a future based on hope, justice, and true peace."
Nagato took a deep breath, his resolve strengthening even more. "I will do it. I will use the Rinne Tensei to revive those we've lost."
Konan's eyes filled with tears, her voice breaking. "Nagato..."
He reached out, taking her hand. "This is the path we've chosen. It's the only way to honor Yahiko and achieve true peace."
Naruto, Sasuke, and Goku shared a look of understanding. The former spoke up, obligation residing in his conscious. "We'll help you. We'll give you the chakra and strength you need."
Goku, in surprisingly useful curiosity, asked, "Are there any limitations on revival? Even the Dragon Balls apparently have constraints."
Nagato nodded. "The Rinne Tensei requires an immense amount of chakra and drains the user's life force, often resulting in death. It's most effective on those who have recently died, and the condition of the bodies affects the success. The souls of the deceased must be willing to return."
Sasuke's gaze was intense. "We'll give you all the chakra you need. We'll make this work."
Konan and the others watched as Naruto and Sasuke placed their hands on Nagato's back, their yin and yang symbols glowing brightly. As the three shinobi channeled their chakra into Nagato, the room was filled with a blinding light. The onlookers watched in awe as the power of the Rikudo Sennin flowed through all three of them, amplifying Nagato's strength far beyond his limits.
Nagato's voice echoed through the chamber, filled with authoritative power. "Rinne Tensei!"
The energy surged, spreading out from Amegakure and across the world. Those who had been killed by Piccolo Daimao and his associates, as well as those who had perished due to the Shinju tree's roots during the Infinite Tsukuyomi, began to stir. The Bijuu who were killed, their forms shimmering with life, started to reform.
Konan's eyes filled with tears as she watched Nagato, her confidant and friend, make the ultimate sacrifice.
"Thank you, Nagato," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion.
The room was awash with a radiant glow as the Rinne Tensei's energy permeated the entire world. Goku, still cradling Hinata's lifeless body, noticed a faint glimmer of chakra beginning to emanate from the gaping hole in her chest. His eyes widened with hope, a feeling he had forsaken in the midst of all the despair.

His eyes widened with hope, a feeling he had forsaken in the midst of all the despair.
Nagato, straining under the monumental task, felt the support of Naruto and Sasuke, their chakra flowing into him and bolstering his own. Konan, ever watchful, saw the small miracle taking place. "Nagato, it's working! Keep going!" she urged.
Nagato, despite the strain, managed a weak smile. "If I survive, looks like I'll need a long vacation after this," he joked, his voice shaky but filled with relief.
Konan, trying to lighten the tension, quipped back, "How about a beach vacation? Somewhere warm and sunny. You always could have used a tan."
Nagato chuckled softly, his eyes twinkling. "I could use a little sun. Maybe a lot of it. And some peace and quiet."
Konan's eyes sparkled with amusement. "You think you can handle all that relaxation? No battles, no schemes, just us on a beach."
Nagato's smile widened. "I think I could get used to that. You and me, watching the waves, with nothing to worry about."
Their flirtatious banter, amidst the tension, brought a touch of warmth to the room. Itachi, standing nearby, watched with a bittersweet smile. Their exchange reminded him of his former love, Izumi Uchiha, and the future they never had. The memories of their shared moments filled his heart with a gentle sorrow.
Goku, holding Hinata close, found himself momentarily lost in his own imagination. A vacation with just Hinata sounded perfect. He could imagine them together, away from all the chaos, just enjoying each other's company.
Hinata's eyes fluttered open, her vision clearing to reveal Goku's wide, childlike eyes staring down at her with a mix of joy and relief. Heat rushed to her cheeks as she realized she was alive. She couldn't find the words to express her feelings, and Goku, equally speechless, slowly helped her to her feet.
Hinata quickly regained her strength, her legs feeling steady once more. She glanced at Goku, noticing the changes in him. His shirtless, ripped form was more defined, and he had grown taller, his orange pants now high waters, his boots nearly bursting at the seams. He looked more mature, embodying the true strength of a 14-year-old boy who had faced unimaginable trials.
Unable to contain themselves, they embraced, tears slowly streaming down their faces. Goku's frame was considerably larger than hers now, his protective hold conveying more than words ever could. The silent exchange spoke volumes of their shared relief, gratitude, and unspoken promises.
Nagato and Konan shared a look, their eyes reflecting a mixture of hope and admiration. The latter, with a soft smile, said, "Looks like we aren't the only ones dreaming of a peaceful future."
Nagato nodded, his expression softening. "We'll have our moment too, Konan. After all this, we deserve it."
Konan's smile widened. "We do. And it will be wonderful."
The atmosphere in the room shifted, the heavy burden of despair lifting slightly. The sight of Goku and Hinata's reunion, combined with Nagato and Konan's light-hearted banter... generated some hope?
Hinata, feeling the strength return to her voice, whispered, "Thank you, Goku. For everything."
Goku, his eyes filled with emotion that was adjacent to guilt, replied, "Don't thank me, I don't deserve it. Thank Kami instead."
Konan, watching them with a tender expression, turned to Nagato. "We've done our part. Now it's their turn to build the future we all dreamed of. Our job is now to become a pillar to the bridge of that dream."
Nagato, his body still glowing with the remnants of the Rinne Tensei's power, nodded. "They will. And we'll be there to see it, Konan."
As the dawn began to break, casting a golden light over the room, the first mission of the repurposed Akatsuki was completed.
Elsewhere, the effects of the Rinne Tensei were unfolding. Shinobi of all kinds began to stir, their lives restored. Among them was Kisame, his intact body revived. Obito's soul, merged with Kakashi's, granted him permanent Mangekyo abilities and more, making his return impossible. Tenten, Kurotsuchi, Kitsuchi, Akatsuchi, and Gai were revived, while Han and Roshi chose to remain in paradise, free from their suffering as Jinchuriki. Onoki's remains were too far gone to be revived, and the Ki users, Master Shen and Chiaotzu, were incompatible with the jutsu. Civilians caught in the crossfire, the innocent lives lost during the battles, were also brought back, their second chance at life a testament to the new hope dawning.
As the Rinne Tensei's power rippled through the world, the dead began to stir. Near Kakashi, Lee, and Tien, the once lifeless bodies of Tenten, Kurotsuchi, Kitsuchi, Akatsuchi, and Gai started to glow with chakra. Slowly but surely, they returned to the land of the living, their breaths ragged as they awakened from the brink of death. However, Master Shen, Chiaotzu, Han, Roshi, and Onoki remained dead for various reasons: Shen and Chiaotzu lacked chakra, Onoki was reduced to ashes, and Han and Roshi refused to return from the realm of the dead.
Lee, no longer the Green Beast of Konoha but now the Black Fist of Konoha, embraced Tenten earnestly as she revived, his demeanor much more serious and less optimistic than before. "Tenten," he whispered, his voice deep and filled with emotion. "I'm so glad you're back."
Tenten hugged him back tightly, tears streaming down her face. "Lee... I missed you. I thought it was over."
Lee then moved to Gai, his mentor and the man who had shaped his life. He knelt beside him, his voice a steady anchor. "Gai-sensei, you're alive. We won't let this be in vain."
Gai, still groggy from the revival, managed a weak smile. "Lee... you've grown. You've become so strong."
Tenten, wiping her tears, recounted her dream during the Tsukuyomi. "I dreamt I was Tetsu, Iron Girl. I protected the world numerous times and succeeded. I also had a partner in crime... someone I never saw or heard speak."
Gai chuckled weakly. "Sounds like a dream worth fighting for."
Lee's expression remained stoic, his new persona reflecting the losses they had endured. "We will make that dream a reality, Tenten."
Kakashi, his DMS now permanently active, walked over and crouched beside them. "Seems like neither of the Sharingan can deactivate," he said with a wry smile.
Tenten looked at him, puzzled. "Why, Kakashi-sensei?"
Kakashi's eyes darkened slightly as he explained, "While you were out, Naruto, Sasuke and I fought a Rabbit Goddess named Kaguya. In order to stand a chance, an old friend of mine performed one last favor in order to repent for his mistakes that followed him even as recently as yesterday. To make a long story shorter, he... he's kind of apart of me now. In a strange, ethereal, sage of six paths and will imparting kind of way. I guess you could say I'm practically Uchiha Hatake Kakashi now."
Tenten and Gai laughed softly, but Lee's calm demeanor didn't waver. The boy was becoming his own man before their very eyes...
Meanwhile, Tien stood with Kurotsuchi, Akatsuchi, and Kitsuchi, their faces marked by sorrow and determination. The deaths of Onoki, Han, Roshi, Master Shen, and Chiaotzu weighed on them.
Tien, his voice filled with outrage, asked, "Why is Chiaotzu still dead? Why didn't he come back?"
Kurotsuchi, her eyes filled with sadness, said, "Onoki-ojiisan... he's gone too."
Akatsuchi and Kitsuchi had their own reactions, their grief evident.
Tien, his usually stoic face twisted with anger and sorrow, shouted, "Why is my best friend still dead? This isn't fair!"
Lee, hearing Tien's outburst, turned his attention from Tenten and answered. "Tien, you and Chiaotzu ki users like Goku right?"
Tien nodded, his frustration evident. "Yes, we were."
Lee's expression softened slightly. "That explains it. The one responsible for the revival was likely a chakra user themselves. It makes sense if only chakra users could be revived."
Kurotsuchi stepped closer to Tien, trying to calm him down. "Losing the ones we love is hard, but we still have each other. We still have a future to aspire to."
Tien, his voice bitter, retorted, "Optimism won't bring Chiaotzu back. Our efforts meant nothing."
In a fit of rage, Tien blasted a hole in the ground and then buried the few parts of Chiaotzu in it on the spot.
"I don't know who the hell I am anymore," he muttered, his voice breaking.
Kurotsuchi, undeterred, continued to try to reinvigorate Tien's spirit. "We have to find a way, even if it seems ridiculous. We can't give up because we're weak. It's on us to dig deeper and find the courage and the strength to change the narrative."
Tien, his voice rising, argued, "Life isn't fair. We're weak. How are we supposed to become strong enough to matter?"
Kurotsuchi, her voice firm, responded, "We have to start with belief. If we lose that, we lose everything. Knowing the little I knew about him, Chiaotzu wouldn't approve of this quitters mentality."
The mention of Chiaotzu nearly brought Tien and Kurotsuchi to blows. Tien assumed the Crane Hermit stance, his eyes blazing with fury. Kurotsuchi, though unsure if she had the energy or will to fight, stood at the ready regardless. Just as tensions reached a boiling point, the shirtless Lee blurred in between them, his spiky hair flowing as he broke them up.
"Fight me instead, Tien," Lee said, his voice calm but commanding. "If you still have a fighting spirit left."
Tien, seeing the seriousness in Lee's eyes, relented. "I don't want to fight you, Lee."
Lee's voice was firm. "Then use that energy to get stronger with us, instead of attacking a comrade trying to help. Be better."
Tien gritted his teeth, the weight of his emotions pressing down on him. He walked off, sitting by the edge of the cliff, looking at the stars since the moon was destroyed.
As he sat in silence, Kurotsuchi approached, her footsteps soft against the rocky ground. "Tien," she called out, her voice tentative.
He didn't turn around, his gaze fixed on the sky. "Leave me alone," he said distastefully.
Ignoring his command, Kurotsuchi sat down beside him, her voice soft and filled with vulnerability. "I'm sorry for mentioning Chiaotzu's name in vain. I... I feel the same way. If I knew how outmatched we were, I would've told Onoki-ojiisan to shut up. Pride and arrogance got us all killed."
Tien smirked with mirth. "Glad I'm not the only one who sees the truth."
Kurotsuchi allowed her tears to fall, her voice trembling. "Everyone probably knew the truth. We just had different ways of coping. My coping right now involves you."
Tien glanced at her, his expression a mix of surprise and reluctance. He didn't pull away as she leaned on him for emotional support. Her presence was... peculiar, yet it felt like he needed to be there for her. So he accepted it rather than shying away from it.
She leaned more and more on Tien, her vulnerability on display. "Akatsuchi and Kitsuchi are like brothers to me, but you... you're a complicated guy. I appreciate that."
Tien shook his head, his voice low. "There's nothing noteworthy about me. I couldn't save my best friend or my master. I'm good for nothing."
Kurotsuchi asked softly, "What about your career as an assassin?"
Tien laughed bitterly. "I was trained to kill my entire life. What's the fun in that if my employer and coworker are permanently dead?"
Kurotsuchi's voice was soft but firm. "What about us? The others in the village who care about the man who won the Chunin Exams and became one of the strongest Iwagakure has ever seen?"
Tien looked down, his voice filled with sorrow. "I didn't ask for anyone to care about me. Beyond my value as a worker or performer, I don't have any value."
Kurotsuchi played with Tien's right hand, her voice gentle. "I care about you for more than that. You're an interesting guy. I want to learn more about the mystery that is Tenshinhan."
Tien, surprised, asked, "Are you still stuck in the genjutsu? Maybe I still am even now, tricked the whole time and didn't even know it. Maybe when I wake up this nightmare will be over."
Kurotsuchi chuckled softly through her tears. "Remember the Chunin Exams? Our rivalry? You always seemed untouchable, with your rare ability to use ki. I admired you even then, seeing you train in the dojo under Master Shen. You were the prodigy of prodigies that Iwa had ever seen, a champion, probably even stronger than my grandfather. Defeat and pessimism don't suit you, Tien."
Tien recounted his story, his voice bitter. "Master Shen trained me to kill, alongside Chiaotzu and Tao Pai-Pai. Joining the shinobi system was just a way to get paid for what I was trained to do. Your personality pissed me off at times, but I grew to tolerate it as I dominated in spars. But all of that amounted to nothing. We were both fodder for the truly strong. If I can't produce results, if I can't live up to the hype, what good am I? Why would anyone care about me, especially you?"
Kurotsuchi's eyes softened. "I can prove I care about you, right now."
Tien scoffed, challenging her. "Prove it. I doubt you can."
Kurotsuchi smirked through her tears. "Close all three of your eyes."
Tien complied, and Kurotsuchi wrapped her arms around his muscular frame, pulling his body into direct contact with her own. Then, grabbing the back of his head with both of her hands, she pulled him into an aggressive kiss. The kiss was intense, filled with raw emotion, proving to Tien that he wasn't alone. Her lips moved against his with urgency, their breaths mingling, and for a moment, the world around them faded away.
As they broke apart, Tien stared at her, his heartbeat accelerating. Without words, they held each other through the night, beneath a sky without a moon. They had nowhere else to run and no idea what to do about anything.
It felt so much better to not think and simply be.
Nagato, sustained by the combined chakra of Naruto and Sasuke, completed the jutsu without succumbing to death. His hair, once graying from the strain, remained a rich shade of red. As the light of the rebirth faded, Naruto and Sasuke removed their hands from his back, their faces reflecting the exhaustion and relief of a mission completed.
Konan watched, her eyes filled with tears of joy and gratitude. "Nagato... you did it."
Nagato, breathing heavily but alive, nodded. "The first mission of the Shinsei Akatsuki is complete."
Naruto, ever the optimist, grinned widely. "We did it. We actually did it."
Sasuke smirked, a rare expression for him. "Hn. Not bad, dobe."
Naruto shot him a playful glare. "Teme."
Itachi, standing beside Konan, observed the scene with a sense of quiet satisfaction. "This is the beginning of a new era. One built on the sacrifices and hopes of those who came before."
Nagato looked at the gathered group. "The Shinsei Akatsuki will be a force for good. We will help protect this world, not through fear, but through justice and hope."
Konan nodded, her eyes filled with resolve. "We will honor Yahiko's dream by ensuring that no one else suffers as we did."
As the group stood together, the rain outside began to lighten, the clouds parting to reveal a glimmer of sunlight in the very early morning. It was a small, symbolic gesture, but it carried the promise of brighter days ahead.
As the revival light faded, Konan's eyes fell on Nagato, still sitting in his walker. The contraption that had sustained him for so long was now a symbol of his suffering and imprisonment. She immediately recalled their jokes of a vacation, statements that seemed ever fraudulent and humorous given Nagato's condition.
"Nagato," Konan said quietly. "We can't take that vacation. Not like this."
Before Nagato could respond, Naruto stepped forward, a confident grin on his face. "Wait a second," he interjected. "The chakra infusion should have healed Nagato too, thanks to the powers of Super Gramps."
Sasuke, ever the pragmatist, nodded. "Let's test it."
Without further warning, Naruto and Sasuke charged their respective attacks. The air crackled with energy as Naruto's Rasengan and Sasuke's Chidori whirled into life. Konan's eyes widened in alarm, her instincts screaming to protect Nagato. She was ready to react, even with lethal force if necessary, but Nagato's calm voice stopped her.
"Konan, it's alright. Trust them."
With a final glance at Nagato, Konan stepped back, her heart pounding. The Rasengan and Chidori slammed into the walker and the wall behind it, destroying both in a brilliant explosion of energy. The force of the blast sent debris flying, but miraculously, Nagato remained unharmed.
As the dust settled, the Uzumaki slowly stood up, free from his mechanical prison for the first time in years. His body, once malnourished and sickly, now looked healthier, stronger. He looked at his hands, clenching and unclenching his fists, a sense of wonder and disbelief in his eyes.
Nagato took a tentative step forward, then another. He jumped into the air, laughing in a way that none of them had ever heard before. It was a sound of pure, unadulterated joy.
Konan watched, tears streaming down her face, but this time they were tears of happiness. She wiped them away, her lips curving into a serene smile. "Nagato," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude. "You're free. You're finally free from the shackles of your pain."
Nagato turned to her, his eyes shining. "Konan," he said, his voice choked with emotion. "I feel... alive. Truly alive."
They embraced, holding each other tightly. For the first time in what felt like decades, Nagato felt the warmth and strength in his own body, and Konan felt the weight of their shared burdens lifting.
Naruto and Sasuke watched with satisfaction, knowing that they had played a part in this moment of liberation. The former grinned widely. "Looks like that vacation's back on the table!"
Sasuke smirked, his usual stoic demeanor softened by the scene. "Hopefully its a good one."
Konan's heart fluttered as she looked up at Nagato. "We're finally free, ne, Nagato-kun?"
Nagato nodded, his eyes filled with simply life. "Yes, Konan. We're free. And we have a new venture to look forward to."
Goku's eyes were locked onto Hinata's, his heart swelling with relief and affection. "Hinata," he whispered. "Are you really here?"
Hinata's eyes gazed at him with... such emotion. "Hai," she replied softly, her voice trying to stabilize. "I am, I really am. I hope I am."
Goku pulled her closer, his hand gently brushing a strand of hair from her face. "I'll never let that... whatever that was... the unthinkable I guess... happen again," he promised with sincerity. "I'll protect you far better than I ever did before. No gimmicks this time."
Hinata giggled softly, her laughter like a melody to Goku's ears as she took in his new look. He looked every bit as old as her, if not slightly older given his tonality despite his young age of 14. "You've changed so much, Goku. You're taller and... in a way different."
Goku grinned, rubbing the back of his head in a sheepish manner. "Yeah, I guess I am. It was weird, though. One moment, I was having the time of my life fighting Piccolo... then you got... and everything went blank, and then... I was holding you, and you... you were... damnit!"
His voice faltered, the pain of that memory still fresh as his eyes flickered a distinct yellow color at the notion of what he tried to convey.
Hinata's smile faded, replaced by a look of understanding. "You don't have to explain. I know it must have been terrible. I'm sorry."
Goku nodded, his expression serious. "It was EASILY the worst thing I ever experienced. I think that's when it happened—when I snapped and everything went blank. That's probably when I hit my strange growth spurt. I wish... I wish it never did."
Hinata's managed a smile despite the emotional devastation that still permeated them both. "I'm just glad we're both here now. And... you look so... fine now," she blushed deeply, her shyness momentarily taking over.
Goku chuckled, his own cheeks reddening. "And you're as pretty as ever, Hinata. I think you're fine too."
Their words, simple yet profound, bridged the gap between their hearts, knitting them closer together. They leaned in, their foreheads touching, lost in the comfort of each other's presence.
Konan, watching from a distance, turned to Nagato. "They remind me of us, back when we still had Yahiko."
Nagato's eyes softened. "Yes, they do. But they have a chance to build something better."
Naruto, unable to contain his own emotions, grinned widely. "You two are so sappy. But it's good to see you both happy."
Goku and Hinata shared a look before bursting into laughter, the sound pure and joyous.
"Thanks Naruto," the boy said, his grin widening. "We've got a lot to figure out, but we'll manage."
Sasuke smirked, his tone teasing. "Don't get too distracted. We've still got a world to improve."
Goku nodded. "Yeah, you're right. But first..." He turned to Hinata, his eyes filled with love and determination. "I want you to know that I'll never leave you again. Again no tricks. This is for keeps, I promise."
Hinata's smile faded slightly, a look of skepticism replacing it. "You've said that before, Goku. You've made that promise multiples times and never followed through, not even an attempt to do so."
Goku's face fell, guilt washing over him. "I know... I'm sorry, Hinata. I failed you so many times. Too many."
Hinata shook her head, cupping his face with her hands. "I don't hold it against you anymore like I once did. If you hadn't done what you did, went on the ventures you did, and became the boy who is quickly becoming the man I respect the most... how would you have been or even be close to strong enough to protect not only me, but also save the world? You being you is why I wasn't allowed to die!"
Goku looked at her, his eyes filled with gratitude. "I never thought of it that way, I just aim to do my best. Thank you Hinata, truly. For understanding me more than I understand myself at times."
And then a rare moment of playfulness, the Saiyan had say this joke, "So, am I still allowed to train with Ino after this? You said you didn't care about it a couple of days ago."
Hinata's expression turned dead serious as she pulled him into a strong kiss. Their lips met, and she poured all her feelings into it—love, frustration, and possessiveness? The kiss was deep and lingering, making Goku's heart race.
"Who would you rather train with?" she asked, her voice curious yet teasing.
Goku, being honest, looked conflicted. "I... don't know."
Hinata smiled at the answer she wanted to hear. "Then I'll just show you how great I am."
Goku cut her off, his voice soft but firm. "Hinata, I don't need that to know you're deep in my heart. You're precious, something outta this world. It literally set me and almost the whole world on fire when I thought I... the unthinkable."
Naruto and Sasuke confirmed this, with the former donning his prankster mentality for the moment, "Just by mentioning the name 'Hinata', Goku almost killed us all and probably would've blown up the planet. He was like... Don't. Say. Her. Name! Grrrrr."
The girl laughed as Goku sheepishly scratched his head, his eyes closed as she spoke. "Yeah, I... definitely got a bit riled up."
Hinata's eyes widened in awe. "Oh, really now?" she asked with a smile.
Goku admitted, "Yeah, I did. I was at my limit. I don't wanna ever feel like I can lose you again."
Hinata's expression shifted into a still playful yet serious one if one examined hard enough. "If anyone dared mess with my Son Goku, I wouldn't hesitate to destroy them and their world too."
The room filled with laughter as Goku and Hinata shared their heartfelt confessions, bringing a moment of light amidst the darkness they had faced. It was a rare, genuine connection that everyone, including Nagato, Konan, and Itachi, appreciated. Nonchalance was no longer an option; it was time to be real about their feelings.
Goku, ever the spontaneous one, decided to make his farewell memorable. With a newly restored grin that was pure Goku, he scooped Hinata into his arms, holding her bridal style. "Time to go," he said, his voice filled with warmth and determination.
Hinata, blushing but smiling brightly, wrapped her arms around his neck. "Lead the way."
The group watched as Goku floated effortlessly into the air, Hinata secure in his embrace. Naruto, Sasuke, and the rest looked on with a mix of amusement and admiration.
"Take care of her, Goku," Naruto called out, his voice carrying a note of brotherly affection. "You two deserve some peace."
Sasuke, his usual stoic demeanor softened, stepped forward. "Hinata is like a sister to me. You better follow through on your promise. No more fucking around and leaving her behind."
Goku met Sasuke's intense gaze with equal seriousness. "I won't, Sasuke. I swear."
Hinata turned to Sasuke, her eyes shining. "I'll catch up to you, Sasuke. Next time we meet, I'll be stronger than you again."
Sasuke smirked. "I'll hold you to that. Take care of yourself, Hinata."
Goku laughed, his eyes sparkling with joy. "You got it, guys. We'll be back."
Nagato observed the scene, voice filled with gratitude. "Goku, Hinata... thank you for showing us that love and hope can still exist in this world."
Konan, standing beside him, nodded with a gentle smile. "Your bond is truly inspiring. Take care, both of you."
Itachi, standing a bit apart, chose to remain silent, his eyes reflecting a mix of contemplation and distant admiration. His role was that of an observer, a silent guardian, and he respected the bond between Goku and Hinata. He offered a nod that was noticed by the two chief protagonists of the story.
With that, Goku soared out of the tower, Hinata in his arms, into the night sky where the absence of the moon cast a unique, serene darkness. As they flew, the girl rested her head against the man-child's shoulder, feeling safe and loved.
Noticing the lack of a moon, the former commented, "Goku, where's the moon?"
The latter laughed sheepishly. "I destroyed it to break the genjutsu. In hindsight, I should have just let Naruto and Sasuke handle it, but I had to remind them that this story was about me and me alone. They are side characters."
Hinata looked at him, her eyes shining with curiosity. "What about me?"
Goku stopped flying, floating under the stars. He looked into her lavender eyes and said, "The story was really kinda about you the whole time too. I'm almost like number two on the pecking order. This is a HinaGoku story, not a GokuHina story."
Hinata smiled at that, and then a question popped up. "Then why was Ino even a factor?"
Goku explained, "She was a plot device to stir up confusion and teach me what lust meant."
Hinata asked, "Why didn't you ever feel that lust toward me?"
Goku looked thoughtful. "You were proper, elegant, and played things by the book. I guess I never thought to ask or find out for myself."
Hinata's expression turned playful. "Well, you definitely never asked. Plus we were young, even now we're still sort of young to do much. But you should know, Goku... I love you."
Goku, feeling a rush of emotions, said, "Well as Master Roshi would say... no time like the present!"
Hinata joked morbidly, "Mmm, so all it took was me getting killed in action for you to see the light, huh?"
Big mistake.
Goku's expression darkened, his Ikari form beginning to manifest once more. His muscles bulged, his body began to grow once more, and his aura flared with a greenish glow that illuminated all of Amegakure. The entire village beneath them began to quake and tremble in fear at the potential wrath of the Saiyan. "Errrrggghh... damnit..."
Realizing her mistake, Hinata softly caressed his cheeks with the palms of her hands, soothing his rage as best she could. "I'm sorry, Goku. I love you. Even now... I don't fear you, I'm not mad at you. I love you."
Goku's eyes closed as the green ki faded. Hinata took the opportunity to kiss him again, her touch calming him. Their lips met, soft and tender at first, then growing more careful and loving. She could feel the intensity of his emotions; she responded in kind with her own. No more holding back, she was going for what she wanted the most. Him.
"Goku-kun... I'm madly in love with you, and it really became apparent during the weeks, months, over a year of not being around you. Even when I developed a sense of peace without you being there, I still wished you were. I'm not here to say anything that may pressure you or fill you with emotions that you may not feel yourself, but the truth is the truth. You mean so much to me, and that meaning only itches itself deeper and deeper into my heart every time I get to go through this crazy life with you. And the reason why I acted like I didn't care about you wanting someone else was because... I want you to be the best Goku you can be. No matter how it appears, no matter how angry you get, no matter what you decide to do with your life, I'll support you through and through because..."
Lavender met Onyx.
She kissed him sweetly on the lips.
"I. Love. You."
Goku stared at her wordlessly, his eyes filled with a depth of emotion that captivated her. It was genuinely mesmerizing, the boy who she recalled hours ago had the same physical features, but they lacked the masculinity that the teenager before her currently exuded. It was almost as if his rage was the key to him breaking out of his cocoon and emerging as a butterfly of young, youthful, hyper attractiveness. He was quickly becoming fine.
Said fine teenager broke the silence, saying a simple three-word response with a soft, deeper vocal tone than ever.
"I love you too."
And then they kissed again, their lips meeting in a tender yet passionate embrace. Each kiss conveyed their promises, fears, and hopes, sealing their bond under the starless sky. Their mouths moved together in perfect harmony, the soft pressure of their lips speaking volumes of their shared emotions. Every touch, every breath was a testament to the depth of their feelings.
The night sky wrapped around them like a blanket, the cool breeze whispering secrets as they floated gently above the ground. His strong arms cradled her securely, and she felt the warmth of his body radiating through her. Their eyes met and the kisses grew more intense, more passionate. Hinata's hands found their way to the back of Goku's neck, her fingers entwining in his hair as she pulled him closer. The sensation was electric, sending shivers down her spine. Goku's hands roamed over her back, holding her tighter, as if still afraid she might disappear.
In that moment, something extraordinary happened. Goku's Ikari ki, the primal rage-infused energy, began to flow into Hinata. Instead of disrupting her natural chakra flow, it complemented and enhanced it, akin to natural energy or Sage Chakra. The power coated rather than coursed through her veins, enhancing her strength and abilities beyond her understanding.
Hinata felt lighter, stronger, more connected to the world around her. Goku's energy temporarily became a supercharged battery for her, lifting her up both physically and spiritually. On top of that, her energy, courage, and mind felt crystal clear!
She looked into Goku's eyes, her own filled with wonder. "Goku, I feel... incredible."
Goku's face lit up with a bit of adoration and confusion. "Huh? Don't you always feel like that?"
Ignoring the flirt attempt, Hinata began to break away from Goku, first by letting go of his neck with her soft hands.
"Goku, let go of me," she said softly.
The Saiyan hesitated, his grip tightening momentarily. "Are you sure?"
Hinata nodded, her eyes full of reassurance. "Hai, everything will be fine."
With trepidation, Goku released her, and to his amazement, Hinata found herself floating beside him. Her feet no longer bound to the earth, she let out a joyful laugh and spun gracefully through the air, reveling in the newfound freedom.
Hinata's exhilaration was true and true. She soared through the sky, the wind whipping through her indigo hair, her laughter echoing like music. The sensation of flight was beyond anything she had ever imagined, a dream brought to life by the power she shared with Goku.
"This is incredible!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with pure joy. She executed a series of aerial maneuvers, each movement fluid and graceful. The feeling of Goku's ki enveloping her was both exhilarating and empowering.
Goku watched her with a wide grin. "Wow Hinata! Just... whoa!"
"How is this even possible?" Hinata asked, her voice tinged with awe.
Goku pondered for a moment, trying to make sense of the phenomenon. "I think it's my ki. It's... protective of you. When you were in danger, it awakened. And now, it's like it's adapting to you, empowering you."
Hinata's eyes widened in understanding. "So, your energy is like a secondary source for me, but it doesn't replace or interfere with my chakra. It covers it, enhances it, makes it stronger."
Goku nodded. "Yeah, it's like my ki is coating your chakra network, giving you a boost without messing with your own energy."
The realization was profound. Goku's Ikari, born of rage and love, had created a bond that empowered Hinata beyond her wildest dreams. The girl's learning curve was swift. She quickly adapted to the sensation of flight, her movements becoming more confident and precise. The power she felt was unlike anything she had ever experienced, a raw, primal force that flowed through her with ease.
"This power," Hinata said as she floated toward Goku once more, "it's amazing. I can feel your love and protection in every part of me."
Goku's eyes softened. "It's the least I can do, that and assure you I'm not going anywhere. From here on it's just you and me."
Hinata leaned in, pressing her forehead against his. "I know, Goku. I trust you."
They shared a moment of quiet connection, their energies mingling in a harmonious dance. The power of rage born of love had created a bond that transcended the physical, a connection that was as unbreakable as it was profound.
Hinata's excitement was infectious. She pulled back slightly. "Let's see what we can do together."
Goku grinned, her excitement mirrored in his own eyes. "Yeah, let's do it."
As they soared through the sky, experimenting with their combined powers, they began to understand the true potential of their bond. The Ikari ki, fueled by Goku's love and protectiveness, had created a unique synergy with Hinata's chakra, empowering her in ways neither of them had thought possible.
Their flight was a dance of power and grace, a testament to the strength of their connection. Goku pushed Hinata to new heights, their movements fluid yet in asynchrony. Who cared about perfection when you were Goku and Hinata? That in of itself is more than viable.
Hinata's heart swelled as she looked at Goku. "Thank you Goku. For everything that you do, for being you."
Goku's expression was tender. "I should be thanking you, Hinata. Without you, there is no me right now. I'm forever grateful."
Hinata's eyes shined with happiness. "And you make me feel invincible. It's like your love is giving me wings."
Their lips met again, the kiss even more intense this time. Goku's hand cupped her cheek, his thumb gently stroking her skin. Hinata's fingers threaded through his hair, pulling him closer as their tongues danced together, exploring and savoring the taste of each other. Their kissing and physical expressions of love grew more heated, more urgent. The night sky seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them suspended in a world of their own making. The sensuality of their embrace was intoxicating, each touch and kiss sending waves of euphoria through their bodies.
Goku's lips trailed along Hinata's jawline, his breath hot against her skin. She responded with a soft moan, her fingers gripping his shoulders as their bodies pressed closer together. The Saiyan's rage, born from his love for Hinata, gave her the strength to feel his love in every fiber of her being. The power she was protected and covered by was a manifestation of his deepest emotions, and in turn, it made her stronger, more resilient.
Hinata's presence fueled Goku's rage in battle, a fierce, protective love that ignited his power. And in turn, Goku's rage, tempered by his love for her, became a shield, a source of strength that enveloped Hinata, making her feel cherished and invulnerable.
Goku's tongue gently parted her lips again and again, exploring and intertwining with hers in a dance that was both sensual and euphoric. The sensation was overwhelming, yet comforting. Hinata moaned softly into the kisses as she felt his love and strength envelop her. Her senses were heightened, each touch and taste more vivid than the last. She reveled in the feeling of his power mingling with hers, the primal energy fueling her own abilities and desires.
The taste of him was addictive, and she couldn't get enough. She felt his hands caress her back, his touch gentle yet possessive. She melted into him, surrendering completely to the moment.
The power flowing through her from Goku's Ikari ki made her feel invincible. She could feel his love in every beat of her heart, every breath she took. As they floated in the night sky, Goku held Hinata close as the world around them faded away, leaving only their love to illuminate the darkness.
"I never want this to end," she murmured, her voice soft.
Goku tightened his hold on her, his heart beating in rhythm with hers. "Me neither."
