Author's Note: Merry Christmas, everyone. To celebrate this festive season with you all, I thought I'd present a boatload of fanfic updates, including the introduction of this fanfic.
This new story is a retelling of Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, with some liberties that are made, just like Kipo Underground. That isn't to say I'm abandoning Kipo Underground. I'm making this story also for my friend, Lord Zeppelin, who I wanted to upload this as a Christmas gift for his help. He helped with some creative edits to this chapter, but the end result is still the same.
Also, Lord Zeppelin and I agreed that this would be a musical fanfic. The songs won't be as consistent as it is in Kipo Underground. There won't be a song in every chapter, just occasionally. Now, each song in this fanfic will be a parody. For example, the song featured here is a parody of "All is Found" from Frozen 2.
Enjoy this DC/Kipo crossover fanfic. I hope you all enjoy it. Any and all comments are welcome.
Deep in the vast recesses of space, there lived a planet that orbited around a red star. Far below on the planet's surface, inside a home, a man in a blue uniform with a large S emblem upon his chest looked out his window and watched in solemn horror. As far as the eye could see, in the light of the red sun above, the city before him and far beyond was on the brink of destruction. Fires erupted from every place imaginable. When he closed his eyes, he could hear the screams of his people in the distance and clenched his teeth.
After taking in the horrific reality, he continued up his spiral staircase until he eventually made it to the top of his tower. There he found his wife, a beautiful woman in a blue dress. She was holding onto a baby boy wrapped in a red blanket. The wife looked at her husband with worry.
"Lara, it's too late. It's the end of the world. We don't have much time."
The woman named Lara looked down at her giggling baby son and held him tightly. "Oh, Jor-El... Are you sure there is no other way?"
"It's the only way our son can survive." Jor-El answered as he waved his hand.
Suddenly, the center of the floor opened up and a large rocket ship emerged. A large collection of white crystals also appeared next to the rocket. Jor-El proceeded to tap into the crystals. They each lit up with his touch.
"But Jor-El, he's just a baby." Lyra said. "He won't make it on his own."
"He certainly won't make it if he stays here." Jor-El said. "We have to give him his best chance. Now, I have found a planet with the same atmospheric conditions as Krypton. The locals call it Earth. It's mostly dominated by hyper-intelligent beasts, but it is a refuge planet for other alien lifeforms. The only major catch though is that it lives in the light of a yellow sun."
"A yellow sun?" Lara asked. "But we live under a red sun. If he's exposed to a yellow sun's radiation, he'll…"
"I know." Jor-El said. "He will gain abilities that will allow him to stand out from the rest of the Earthlings. Abilities that will give him the strength to protect himself, and even others."
Lara looked at the baby in her arms and smiled at him. "He will. He's Kal-El, our son. As long as he follows the path of truth and justice, our sacrifice will not be in vain."
"I know." Jor-El said. At that moment, one of the crystals was ejected from it's place among the others. He took it and placed it in the ship. "This data crystal will give our son everything he needs to know about his heritage. Everything seems to be in order. Now, all that's left is…"
Lara nodded. She took one last look at her son who began to sob. She gently shushed him to quiet. "Don't cry, Kal-El. We are giving you your best chance. Once you get to this Earth, I have faith that you will be cared for, and in return, you will protect those who can't protect themselves.
Lara:
By the world you're sent to go
There's a sun with a yellow glow
Bask within this golden star
And let it fill your hero's heart
As soon as she finished her verse, Kal-El fell straight to sleep. She proceeded to walk him to the ship that waited for him while continuing to sing.
Lara:
In the furthest depths of space
There's a strange world light years away
As lost and confused as they are
You can save them with your hero's heart
Yes, you'll gain powers that they may fear
But truth and justice will be your guide
You'll save the world that you will hold dear
With the peace and honor that you'll proviiiiiiiiiiide
Lara placed Kal-El in the rocket just as the dome above them began to open. All around them, everything was crumbling apart and blowing up at a very chaotic rate. Neither she nor Jor-El were distracted by it though. Instead, he pressed a crystal and the rocket began to launch.
After a minute of the engines warming up, Kal-El's rocket flew out of the tower and into the deep, dim void of space. Nothing was left except for Lara's final words before her and her husband's destruction alongside the planet Krypton.
Lara:
In the world you're sent to go
There's a path for you in the yellow glow
Walk on it, and you will start
To understand… your hero's heeeeeeaaaaaart
And with those final words, the planet known as Krypton was no more, for that was the end of their world... but not for its last son.
Kal-El's rocket flew through the universe at tremendous speed, passing planet after planet while the baby himself was fast asleep. It even flew faster than a comet and he didn't notice. Throughout the light-years, the rocket kept its course until it finally reached its destination.
At first, Earth looks like a big ball of blue and green. But as the rocket got closer, it was in clear view of all the wastelands and ruined cities that cover the continents, especially where it landed: the city of Las Vistas. It was dangerous there, especially at nighttime.
The rocket crashed down at the bottom of a highway, but it didn't stop. As soon as it made impact with the ground, a sinkhole sank it even deeper into the ground. When it finally landed, it was right in the middle of a hidden colony of humans who screamed and scattered as it landed.
The humans all hid and waited for a moment. When there was stillness and quiet, they all peeked their heads to get a better look at the rocket, especially their leader, a man named Hoag.
"What do you think it is, Hoag?" a human whispered to his leader.
Hoag shuddered with confusion and nervousness uncertain of what to say. "Well… it looks like… some kind of rocket."
"Is it armed?"
"How would I know?" Hoag answered. "I… Hey! Martha, get back here!"
One of the curious humans broke from her cover to walk closer and get a better look at what just landed in the middle of her colony. Her husband followed from behind much to the chagrin of Hoag.
"Jonathan, get your wife under control." Hoag whispered harshly.
"Under control?" Jonathan asked. "Hoag, how long have you known Martha?"
Martha and Jonathan finally made it to the rocket. Martha tapped on the glass until it opened suddenly. She was startled at first, but then looked inside the cockpit, her hands over her mouth in an amazed expression.
"What is it, honey?" Jonathan asked.
"It was a transport." Martha said as she reached in and pulled out the baby Kal-El. She turned around to show everyone, but Hoag gasped in a mix of digust and fear. "What is it, Hoag?"
"That thing is clearly an alien!" Hoag said. "Vicious and bloodthirsty!"
Kal-El finally opened his eyes and looked around. He gave a playful giggle.
"Hoag, how can you say that?" Martha asked. "He's just a baby."
"Babies grow up." Hoag argued. "Sure, it seems cute now, but when it grows big, it will tear us apart. Have you forgotten how we've been chased underground? And aliens are half of the reason why. First, it was the mutes, those filthy beasts who learned to walk and talk on their own. And soon after, aliens from all over the universe came on over, and most of them wanted to eat us!"
"I don't think this one will." Jonathan said. "I agree with Martha. Perhaps we can look at this as some kind of blessing."
"A blessing?" Hoag asked.
"Yes. Martha and I have been trying to have a child for years. So far, we've had no luck. Maybe this is the universe answering our prayers."
"You actually want to raise that thing?" Hoag asked.
"If it makes you feel any better, we'll teach him to hate meat." Martha said half-jokingly. "Would it also be better if we don't tell him he's an alien? For all he'll know, he's just a normal human being just like the rest of us."
Hoag looked at the other humans behind him. He saw them calming down and easing up to the idea before he sighed.
"Fine. But remember, should this turn into a bad idea, you two will be held responsible."
"We understand." Jonathan said before joining his wife with their new adopted son.
"Hello!"
A new voice was heard from above. Everyone looked and saw a dark-skinned man climbing down the same hole the rocket came through. He wore a sack around his neck with something hanging at the front.
"Oh, great. Would someone fix up that hole before anything else finds us?" Hoag asked loudly.
"Hello there." The new man said as he approached Hoag. "My name is Lio Oak. Is this a human burrow?"
"Of course." Hoag answered before looking into the bag that Lio wore. Inside, he found a purple-skinned baby girl. He groaned. "Great. Don't tell me that's an alien too."
"What?" Lio asked. "No. Kipo here is my kid. We're lost and everything wants to eat us. Can you please give us a home here?"
Hoag shifted his eyes up and down on Lio and his daughter before sighing. "Sure. Why not? Let's just bring the entire surface world down here." He walked away in annoyance, allowing Jonathan and Martha to approach Lio.
"Well, let us be the first to welcome you to our burrow." Jonathan said. "I'm Jonathan Kent. This here is my wife, Martha."
"Nice to meet you." Lio said with a small, pleasant chuckle before setting eyes on the baby boy. "He yours?"
Martha nodded. "We decided to name him… Clark. Clark Kent."
"Nice to meet you, Clark." Lio said in a soft voice, leaning down to greet the baby boy. He then held up his own child. "This is Kipo. And I can already tell you're going to be good friends."
As Lio introduced his baby daughter to the newly dubbed Clark Kent, the two babies reached out to one another with a smile before taking hold of each other's tiny hand, giggling without a care in the world. Unknown to their parents, the two gripped the other's hand with surprising strength, a strength that signified the future bond that they both will share for years to come.
