Jacob POV

Tonight, the sky was veiled in clouds, and a gentle dewiness hung in the air, causing a hint of frustration to tug at me as my claws sank into the forest floor. Enduring six consecutive nights of patrols in the rain, spanning from the outskirts of Forks to La Push, had tested my patience. Finally, relief washed over me as I welcomed a dry and tranquil night. As I concluded my patrol at the edge of Forks, I settled in beneath a sturdy bull pine tree, my senses attuned to the scents and sounds of the forest as I awaited the arrival of Sam and the rest of the pack. Today marked the highly anticipated encounter with the Makah pack, a moment meticulously orchestrated by our Elders.

Six days early...

When Jared and I hopped into my red eighty-six volkswagen rabbit headed to Alpha's house for the pack meeting . A dozen thoughts went through my head. Was it about the Cullens? Was he wondering about how last night's talk went with Jared? Patrol changes?

The wind flowed wildly in the car on the short ten minute drive to Sam and Emily's house , the tension in the car was palatable. Upon pulling up at the house I threw the car into park and looked at Jared before getting out and headed towards the house. The tiny house that had once been gray. There was only one narrow window beside the weathered blue door, but the window box under it was filled with bright orange and yellow marigolds, giving the whole place a cheerful look.

My skin was feeling a little hot , was I nervous? Other than a couple incidents of lone weak cold ones that stumbled near our borders and we scared off. I never faced a coven of cold ones before. I still remember the story of how Sam shifted for the first time and in the two weeks he went missing and killed a lone cold one. He didn't talk about it for weeks. If it wasn't for the elders in the tribe he probably would never have talked about it. The presence of

I shook my head before opening the door and entering the open kitchen and dining room while Jared followed behind me. In the kitchen there was Emily and Embry assisting as usual making mountains of french toast , bacon and freshly squeezed orange juice this morning. Sam, Paul, and Quil were seated around the circular dining table. Quil, nestled comfortably in Paul's lap, exuded contentment as he greeted Jared and me with a smile and wave. Positioned on the seat over to the left of Sam, Paul proceeded to deliver his report on last night's patrol.

"Jake, Jared, come in and take a seat. Breakfast is almost ready," Emily called out from the stove, flashing a quick smile in our direction before refocusing on the French toast. Embry, Sam and Paul glanced over at us as Emily's voice drew our attention.

"Jared, Jacob," Paul nodded in acknowledgement as Emily brought over the large one-gallon glass pitcher of orange juice. Quil, sliding out of Paul's lap, joined to help set the table with Embry.

"Good morning, join us. Jacob, Jared, how was last night?" Sam inquired, though I could tell his focus was primarily on Jared.

"It went fine, Alpha. I explained the basics to Jacob," Jared replied, taking his place to Sam's right. I settled into the seat beside Jared and Embry next to me, " Morning , Jake" clapping my shoulder as he sat. Quil and Emily returned to the table with French toast and bacon, then took their seats, and we dug in.

"Where's Leah?" I inquired, my eyes scanning the room as Jared and I loaded our plates.

"She should be back from getting Seth from patrol any moment now," Paul replied, his attention divided as he poured orange juice for Quil and himself.

"Why call the meeting, Alpha?" Jared inquired between bites of bacon, pouring an ungodly amount onto his pile of French toast.

"Elder Black let me know last night that the Cullens are back, and Jared confirmed that with Jake's run-in," Sam explained, taking a sip of his orange juice. Paul and Quil glanced my way in question.

"They haven't broken treaties or crossed treaty lines. They aren't a real concern right now. However, there have been cases of missing persons in the North," he continued, regaining everyone's attention.

"After contacting the Makah Pack Alpha alongside the Elders, a troubling pattern emerged: a string of inexplicable vanishings stretching from Homer, Alaska, all the way to Seattle. Nine individuals have disappeared without a trace, leaving behind no evidence of struggle or abduction in the last two days," Jared's voice carried a weighty gravity as the table fell into an uneasy silence.

"Two days?!" Jared exclaimed, his breath huffing out in frustration. "There must be at least one bloodsucker, if not three, to cover that distance and snatch up so many people in such a short span of time."

Just as Jared finishes speaking I hear movement behind me and Leah with Seth in tow is walking through the door "That's why Sam and Makah Pack's Alpha Zane are going to coordinate a patrol from Beaver to Callum. The elders are organizing a meet near Wish Creek'' She said as Leah and Seth took their seats at the table.

Sam glared at her and shook his head and went back eating his breakfast. She rolled her eyes "I overheard it from Dad and Jake's Dad this morning when I got back from patrol."

"Like Leah said that's our plan" Sam gruffed out before finishing off his bacon. I looked up at him then and asked "Have anyone met their pack or pack alpha ? Or heard anything about them?".

Sam shook his head. "I only know their Alpha's name, they're the closest pack to us, older than us, and have four girls in their pack." Everyone's attention turned to him. "I found it odd that we only had Leah in our pack while they have four." He shrugged and returned to eating.

Following that morning, Sam altered our patrol routines, maintaining the coverage from Forks to La Push until our rendezvous with the Makah Pack. The morning watch spanned from eleven pm to seven am, with Sam and Embry patrolling westward, while Leah and Paul covered the eastern route. For the evening watch, extending from three pm to eleven pm, Jared and I took on the westward patrol, while Seth ventured eastward. During that time I didn't come into contact with Edward, not that I was looking for him. I was just curious. Not much happened since then there weren't any other disappearances but we kept alert and the elders seemed to have kept the Makah elders up to date and vice versa.

Present day...

In the distance, the forest echoed with the rapid patter of paws on the ground, and in my mind, I heard Seth's voice calling out, "Jakeeeeeeee! Jake-" He sounded as eager as ever, like the young pup he was. Blinking open my eyes, I glanced to my right. The pack was approaching, all of them shifted except for Leah and Quil. Leah was perched on Seth's back, carrying a pack, presumably filled with clothes for our meeting. Quil, meanwhile, was riding on Paul's back, also sporting a pack, and the scent of burgers wafted towards me, making my stomach growl.

"Shut it, Seth. You're giving me a headache. And slow down before you throw Leah off," Embry growled, pacing ahead with Seth, leading the way alongside Sam, Jared, Paul, and Quil.

Chuckling, I rose to my feet. "I'm here. What took you guys so long?" I asked as they came to a halt a few feet in front of me.

"Emily made us dinner and packed it for us. We had to stop to pick it up," Sam explained, settling into the center of our makeshift pack circle.

Leah checked her phone briefly before stowing it away. "The meeting spot is about fifteen minutes northwest from here if we maintain our current speed," she informed us. Sam nodded at her before addressing the rest of the pack. "Well, let's get going," he said, then took off swiftly. The pack raced behind him rushing through the trees , little animals and critters fleeing from our path.

Then out of nowhere I feel someone nipping at my heels and tail "HEY," I growl out scenting Embry behind me.

"Come Jake speed up , last to wish creek eats last" Embry chuckled. With a playful snarl, I shot Embry a challenging glance, feeling the thrill of competition surging through me. "You're on!" I retorted, picking up my pace, the forest blurring around us as we raced side by side.

Behind us, the rest of the pack erupted into laughter and playful taunts. "Go, Jake, go!" Seth cheered, his excitement contagious.

"Looks like we've got ourselves a race!" Paul called out, his voice carrying through the trees as he bounded along. Jared let out a boisterous laugh. "Come on, Embry, don't let Jake show you up!"

Meanwhile, Sam's chuckle was unmistakable as he observed the friendly rivalry.

As we dashed through the forest, the playful banter and laughter of the pack surrounded us, adding to the exhilaration of the race. Branches whipped past us, the ground beneath our paws thudding with each stride as we pushed ourselves to the limit.

But despite Embry's teasing and my determination to win, it was clear that I had the edge. With a burst of speed, I surged ahead, the thrill of victory tantalizingly close.

"Come on, Jake, you've got this!" Seth's encouragement spurred me on, his voice echoing in my head. I could hear Embry's breathless laughter behind me, his playful jabs urging me to go faster. But I was in my element now, the rush of the race exhilarating as I pushed myself to reach the beach first.

And then, finally, the trees began to thin, and the sound of crashing waves filled the air. With a final burst of speed, I broke through the treeline, the soft sand of the beach stretching out before me.

I skidded to a halt, chest heaving with exertion, a triumphant wolfish grin spreading across my face as I turned to watch the rest of the pack emerge from the forest behind me.

Embry arrived moments later, his expression a mix of good-natured rivalry and admiration. "Nice one, Jake," he said, clapping me on the shoulder as the rest of the pack gathered around us.

Leah's smirk widened as she rode over with Seth, her eyes dancing with amusement. "Looks like you'll be dining last tonight, Embry," she quipped, eliciting a chorus of laughter from the rest of the pack. With a playful toss, Leah dismounted from Seth's back and flung her pack in my direction. "I bought some clothes for you, Jake," she announced as I deftly caught the strap of the bag in my teeth before I started striding back into the woods, Seth trailing behind me.

On the beach, Sam shifted into his human form, and Quil tossed him some swim shorts. As Sam adjusted his shorts, he addressed the pack with a serious tone, "Paul, Embry, and Seth will remain in wolf form. No one should be alone. I don't know this Alpha or his pack. Despite the elders arranging this meeting, I won't overlook any potential threats." We all nodded in agreement, and with a lingering sense of caution, I disappeared into the woods with Seth.

After venturing about ten steps into the woods, I shifted back into my human form and reached for Leah's pack. Inside, I found a towel, a pair of shorts, a green tank top, and some running shorts. I dried off first before getting dressed, then turned to Seth, patting him on the head. "Let's go eat before the burgers disappear."

Returning just in time, Seth and I found Paul and Embry gathering wood, sticks, and leaves from the woods for Quil and Leah to build a fire. Sam arranged the logs around it for seating. As the fire crackled to life, Quil distributed water, burgers, and napkins packed by Emily. With each bite of the burgers, I couldn't help but moan in satisfaction, realizing just how hungry I was as I polished off my sixth burger. Eventually feeling full, I sighed contentedly and finished my water, only to catch Sam's gaze on me. Raising an eyebrow, I noticed him shaking his head. The moon cast its glow overhead as we heard their approach from the north. We all rose to our feet, and I quickly wiped my mouth and hands before adjusting my hair.

As five silhouettes drew nearer, the subtle fragrances they carried wafted toward me on the sea breeze: notes of Patchouli, comforting Warm Tonka Beans, invigorating Bergamot, alluring Musk, and rich Woody Amber. As they got closer I could see their human forms were intimidating , and wondered what their wolf forms looked like.

They stood just a few yards away, yet their presence was unmistakable. Among them, one figure commanded attention as the undeniable alpha of the pack. I couldn't help but be struck by his presence. His is striking, with sharp features exuding confidence and authority. Standing tall at six feet and three inches barefoot in black jeans , his physique barely contained in his fitted red t-shirt resembled that of a swimmer—lean and powerful. His short hair slicked back, a brown so dark it appeared black, contrasted with his sun-kissed skin. But it was his amber eyes that held the most captivating allure, framed by dark eyebrows furrowing with intensity.

As he started talking, I found myself captivated by the commanding allure of his voice. It carried a deep, gravelly tone that hinted at authority, yet it also possessed a smoothness and sophistication that instantly held my attention.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here? A group of pups. How quaint," the Alpha said, prompting growls from Embry and Seth.

Sam disregarded the remark. "I am Sam, Alpha of my pack. You must be Zane?" he inquired, stepping closer to Seth and placing his hand on Seth's nape to calm him.

"The one and only," Zane drawled, his gaze shifting to me. I had the urge to step back, but I refused to show weakness in front of this alpha, no matter how dominant he seemed. "Sam, you brought an omega to this meeting? Are you dense or just naive?"

My pack began to subtly surround me on both sides, Embry growled this time. Sam glared at Zane. "Our Jacob isn't in any means weak; he has the right to be here," he said, putting his other free hand on my shoulder.

Zane's smirk widened slightly at Sam's defense of Jacob. "Of course, every pack needs its omega, and he is definitely unique" he remarked, his tone laced with subtle flirtation and curiosity.

Zane continued, his gaze shifting between Sam and I with a calculating glint in his eyes. "But tell me, Sam, are you sure you can handle the responsibility that comes with protecting an omega?" he asked, his voice dripping with skepticism.

Sam's reply was firm, his eyes narrowing in response to Zane's challenge. "We've handled our responsibilities just fine, Zane," he retorted, his voice carrying a hint of steel.

Zane's lips curled into a smirk, his confidence unshaken. "We'll see," he replied cryptically, his gaze lingering on me before turning to address Sam. "Now, about the matter of protecting our territories and joint patrols..."

The two alpha talked about joint patrols having one wolf from each pack patrolling in two's and the times for each wolf that worked. Sam's expression softened slightly at Zane's willingness to compromise. "Understood," he acknowledged, walking half way to meet Zane to extend his hand in a gesture of agreement. "May this be the start of a beneficial partnership for both our packs."

Zane met him with a firm handshake, the alphas sealed their agreement, setting the groundwork for a tentative alliance between our packs.

After wrapping up the business matters, a member of Zane's group stepped forward, emanating the same Woody Amber scent from earlier. This Alpha couldn't have been older than his twenties, with honey-blond hair styled in a long military crop falling messily around his olive-toned, sculpted face, hazel eyes gleaming with confidence. He was dressed in sweatpants and a loose tank top, giving off a laid-back vibe that seemed out of place in Washington.

"Hello, I'm Cade, Zane's second," he introduced himself, his tone casual yet assured. Cade's appearance resembled that of a typical UCLA frat boy, a contrast to the setting we found ourselves in.

"That's Jax, Third in command and Zane's little brother," Cade gestured towards a beta behind him, who greeted us with a friendly wave that smelled of clean musk. With short, black hair tousled by the breeze, Jax possessed a youthful yet determined demeanor. His fitted t-shirt and board shorts accentuated his tall, athletic frame, striking a balance between approachability and strength as he approached us with a warm smile.

"And those are the twins, Paxton and Payton, the brother and sister duo," Cade continued, pointing to them the scent of Warm Tonka Beans and invigorating Bergamot came from the two. Paxton stood slightly behind Payton, his arm draped over her shoulder, exuding a quiet intensity with his pale skin and piercing green eyes. Clad in a leather jacket over a bare chest and worn jeans, he emanated a rugged charm that belied his reserved demeanor. Payton, on the other hand, commanded attention effortlessly with her tall, graceful presence. Her long, jet-black hair cascaded over her pale shoulders, framing an enigmatic face with dark, expressive eyes. Dressed in a flowing black sundress adorned with lace, she exuded an ethereal charm.

"I've brought some homemade blue whale drink to share, along with cups." Cade motion to his hiking pack hanging on his shoulder. Zane and his pack joined us at the fire as Cade proceeded to distribute cups to everyone gathered around the fire, ensuring each member of the pack had a drink in hand. However, he discreetly bypassed Seth, Paul, and Embry, who remained on the outskirts of the group, staying shifted . As the cups made their rounds, the atmosphere shifted, the tension of earlier discussions giving way to a sense of camaraderie and unity. The crackling of the fire provided a comforting backdrop as the members of both packs raised their cup to toast.

As the toast came to an end, I grabbed my cup and strolled toward the shoreline, feeling the warmth of the fire making me a tad overheated. My eyes remained fixed on the horizon, drawn to the vastness of the sea. The rhythmic melody of waves crashing against the shore served as a comforting soundtrack as I indulged in my drink, the liquid warming my belly. Lost in contemplation, I found solace in the tranquil expanse of the ocean before me.

"Mind if I join you?" Cade asked, approaching me with a friendly smile. I glanced at Cade and nodded.

"Sure thing, take a seat," I responded, motioning to the spot beside me. Cade joined me, pausing for a moment to soak in the peaceful surroundings before he began to speak.

Cade cleared his throat, a hint of hesitation in his voice. "I just wanted to apologize for Zane's behavior earlier," he began, his expression sincere. "He means well in his own way, but he can be... intense."

I gave a nod of understanding. "Don't sweat it," I replied with a reassuring smile to Cade. "We've all got our little quirks, you know?"

Cade took a moment to study me, curiosity glinting in his eyes. "So, Jacob," he began, "I couldn't help but notice... you're an omega, right?"

I nodded, a faint smile playing on my lips. "That's right," I confirmed, my tone easygoing not feeling so edge about the statement as I would have a week ago.

Cade's interest piqued further. "I've never met a male omega before," he admitted, his tone genuine. "It's... intriguing."

"Really?," I replied casually, sipping my drink again and picking up a seashell before chucking it in the ocean.

"Yes, female omega are common but a male omega is very rare. like searching for a pearl in an ocean of sand." Cade said as He hurled the rock with precision, sending it skipping across the ocean's surface like a flat stone skimming effortlessly over glassy water.

I turned to him then leaned back on my hand "My pack and the Elders, they made it seem like being a male omega was no big deal, you know? Like it was just part of who I am, no need to make a fuss about it."

""It's fortunate that your pack and elders don't fuss over it, allowing you to truly feel like an integral part of the pack. Many packs tend to mistreat their omegas, particularly the male ones." He said , I frowned "Few packs realize how special an omega is." He continued.

I took another sip from my cup and saw it was almost empty and Cade bought the bottle back out and top of my drink. "Thanks," I murmured before taking another sip.

"That's why we didn't bring our omega with us-" He said before I cut him off "You guys have an omega too? What are they like?" I inquired eagerly, intrigued at the prospect of meeting someone else similar to myself.

Cade chuckled "Ah, Ivy is who you're asking about. Don't be fooled by the sophisticated style and the allure of her strawberry-blonde hair; there's a sharp intellect beneath that poised exterior. She's far more resilient and compassionate than she appears at a glance. Trust me, once you truly get to know her, you'll discover she's fiercely loyal—a protector through and through." he finishes gushing and tops off his own drink.

"Ivy, you say? Sounds like she's got layers—smart, tough, but with a heart. Kinda like the people I run with." I smile "I can't wait to meet her myself" looking up at the moon.

"So, Cade," I started, "fill me in on your pack. How's it feel to be the right-hand to Zane?"

Cade chuckled, leaning back against the sand. "Well, it's definitely never dull," he replied with a grin. "Zane can be a handful, but he's got a vision for our pack that's hard to argue with. And being his second means I get to help make that vision a reality."

I nodded, interested in what Cade was saying. "Seems like a lot to take on," I commented. "But you seem to manage just fine."

Cade shrugged modestly. "I do what I can," he said with a shrug. "What about Sam? What's he like as an alpha?"

My grin grew thinking about my own pack leader. "Sam's awesome," I mentioned with genuine warmth. "He's tough, just, and always prioritizes the pack. We're fortunate to have him around."

"So hobbies?" Cade said, breaking the brief silence that followed their discussion about alphas. "What do you enjoy doing in your free time, Jacob?"

I considered the question for a moment before responding. "Well, I spend a lot of time running in the woods," I admitted with a chuckle. "It helps clear my head and keeps me in shape. How about you? Any hobbies besides being Zane's second?"

Cade grinned, leaning forward eagerly. "I've always had a passion for cooking," he confessed. "There's something therapeutic about creating a delicious meal from scratch. Plus, it's a great way to unwind after a long day of pack business."

I nodded in understanding. "That's cool," I said, genuinely impressed. "I've always wanted to learn how to cook, but I never seem to find the time."

Cade's smile widened."Well, if you ever want some pointers, just let me know," he offered. "I'd be happy to have you over for dinner."

I chuckled and my smile mirrored Cade's. "Thanks, I might just take you up on that," I replied warmly. "It sounds like fun."

As the fire crackled behind them, casting flickering shadows on the sand, a large shadow approached from behind, accompanied by the scent of Patchouli growing stronger. I turned and was greeted by the sight of Zane. "Making dinner plans with my Mate, Jacob?" he chuckled in eyebrows shot up in surprise at the revelation.

"Mate?" I echoed, my voice laced with disbelief looking between the two alphas. "You and Cade... are together?"

Zane's grin widened at my reaction. "That's right," he confirmed, his tone playful. "Surprised?"

I nodded slowly, still processing the surprising revelation. "Yeah, kinda," I admitted. "I had no clue. But Cade's seems cool, I see the appeal."

"Oh, you think so?" Zane chuckled, his amusement evident as I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks. There was warmth in his gaze as he glanced at Cade. "He's quite something, isn't he?" he remarked affectionately. "So, Dinner?"Zane looks at with a smirk on his face.

Feeling a bit uneasy about inadvertently hanging out with someone else's partner, I shifted uncomfortably. "I didn't realize," I apologized, my cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

Zane dismissed my concerns with a casual wave of his hand and took his seat on the other side of Cade. "No need to fret, Jacob," he reassured me. "We're all comrades here. And think of it as an opportunity. Not just for our packs, but for you too. Cade is a great cook and teacher"

Zane flashed me a playful grin, his eyes sparkling mischievously. "Who knows," he teased, "maybe you and I will get close too. After all, it's always nice to expand one's circle of friends, isn't it?" His tone held a hint of flirtation, leaving me momentarily flustered.

Caught off guard by Zane's flirtatious banter, I chuckled nervously, unsure how to respond. "Yeah, maybe, "Dinner sounds good, but I'll need to clear it with Sam, of course." I replied, trying to play it cool despite the heat in my cheeks.

Before I could say anything else, Cade stepped in, his expression amused as he joined the conversation. "Of course. We'd expect nothing less." he says, nudging Zane playfully in arm.

I nodded hoping my face isn't too red "I appreciate that. I'll talk to Sam. When were you thinking?" I asked, looking between the two. Zane looked and Cade looked like a puppy making a new friend at the park. Zane answered "Whenever suits you best. We understand the demands of pack duties. Just let us know when we see you on patrol ."

We remain seated for some time, relishing the tranquil sound of the sea's waves, our drinks, and the campfire's crackle, until Sam's voice reaches me, "Jake, we're heading out." Turning around, I notice that aside from myself, Cade, and Zane, only Sam, Paul, and Jax are left on the beach. Jax busies himself with extinguishing the campfire and cleaning up the area.

"Okay, I'll catch up," I respond, rising to my feet and dusting off the sand as Paul vanishes into the forest. Turning, I see Zane and Cade watching me openly, reigniting the earlier warmth in my belly. "I guess this is goodnight, then. I'll see you guys around."

Zane offers a smirk as he and Cade stand, preparing to leave. "It was nice meeting you, Jacob," he says, giving a nod of acknowledgement. Cade's smile is wide as he pulls me into a hug. "Same here, see you around, Jacob."

"Please, call me Jake," I laugh as Cade lets go. "No one really calls me Jacob."

"Okay, Jake," Cade nods, and I return the gesture before turning to half-heartedly jog towards Sam. He gives me a curious look and raises his head as if to scent the air as I approach."

What?" I ask, raising an eyebrow as I jog closer.

"You just—" He starts, then shakes his head. "It's nothing. Let's go home." He says before shifting and taking off into the woods. I follow after him, though he is long gone now , choosing not to shift tonight because I want to savor the run home. As I move, I deeply breathe in the scents and listen to the sounds of the night, only realizing as I approach Forks that the warmth I felt earlier has deepened. It's radiating from within me, creating a simmering sensation beneath my skin that feels both disconcerting and oddly soothing. My senses become razor-sharp, heightening the world into a more vivid and intense experience. Scents, especially, hit me with force, either drawing me closer or pushing me away with a clarity I haven't felt before.

And there's this ache, resonating deep in my bones, like I'm longing for something indescribable. My run slows to a stumbling walk and I lean heavily on a tree along the Sol Duc river and slide down to the forest floor. My emotions are all over the place, flipping from annoyance to a deep, unshakable sense of longing that I just can't shake off.

Then I hear the crack of a tree branch and I look up and it's him, Edward Cullen.

My breath and heart hitches, I back into the tree I am leaning on. I take a deep breath and it's like I am scenting him for the first time. It's intoxicating, like a mixture of musk , raw honey, fresh picked lilacs, and air after a storm.

Then it happens, a mix of confusion and a wave of embarrassment hitting me as I figure out what's going on. I look down to my thighs. I am leaking from my ass , I can feel the slick dripping past my twitching rim and down over my taint wetting the back of my shorts and dripping down my thighs. My body's reacting in a way I've only heard whispered about, producing slick. Why does it have to happen now ? Why is Edward here? Why does he smell so good? Can he smell my slick? I look back up and he is three feet in front of me on his knees looking at me. It looks like he is trying to get my attention for a few minutes. I feel overwhelmed and hot, but I force myself to listen. my ass clenches down on nothing, and my cock is hard and eager. I need the alpha in front of me to pull him in, cover me with his scent, and fill me with his cock. I need to be claimed.

I shake my head and force myself to focus. Instincts might be telling me to let go, to trust and submit, but my instincts could be lies. They can be manipulated. My body can be my own worst enemy, and until I know why he is here, I need to pay attention.

"Angel, this habit of ours must change," Edward murmured, drawing in the scent that surrounded me.

"Where have you been? And in whose company?" His voice deepened, a hint of a growl underlying his words as he sought answers.
