A.N. Hey all! I hope you're all have a great weekend! Thanks for those who have read and replied to this story. I'm back with another chapter, I hope you all enjoy it.
Chapter 26: Hitch of breath
Never in my life had I ever been the type of girl that was carefree. I had always been guarded, I had let loose but only around those whom I could trust. That was the Bonnie of before, the Bonnie of now was more of the type of person who just jumped into things without thinking far too much. It was easier that way, throwing cation into the wind was a much more satisfying lifestyle then the one where I had spent all my time worrying about everything and everyone. That of course, was how I even found myself with Klaus in the first place and more importantly this situation.
With the windows fogged up, and hands in my hair I continued to do my thing, relishing in the power surge I felt at being able to make someone as unbreakable as Klaus fall apart at the seams all because of me.
"Ignore it." Klaus utters his voice sending trembles down my spine. "Don't stop." He moans.
When the knock occurs again, I stop all together.
Frozen I look up at Klaus who has finally opened his eyes. The sight alone of his eyes and fangs has my body reacting instantly, in all the right places.
I pull away quickly itching to get back into my seat, while Klaus seems to have other plans because he crashes his lips onto mine and a fiery kiss ensues. A kiss that tells me more than words could ever say, and has me blushing hard. His hand cups my breasts before he lays a kiss on the exposed skin.
When I pull away, he winks my way all the while tucking himself back in and fixing his clothes.
It's only when I give him the nod that I am indeed okay, that he has the automatic windows go down to reveal detective Chase, who looks non too pleased with the two of us.
Chase looks between the two of us. "My shift just ended and instead of getting home and sleeping as long as possible, I find you two." Chase says with a frown on his handsome face. "I've had a long shift, and I'm not in the mood." He grumbles out.
Klaus let out his own growl. "Neither am I." Klaus says his hand reaching for mine as he spares me a look and another wink. He then, places a quick kiss to my hand and then turns his attention back to Chase.
Chase lets out a sigh. "Get her home Klaus and please stay out of trouble."
Klaus only dimples. "I'll try but I make no promises." He says as innocently as possible. "This one over here though, she tends to bring it all out of me." Smile. "Animal instincts and all."
Chase then looks at me once more, his eyes showing only a hint of yellow giving his werewolf nature away. He then looks at Klaus once more, shakes his head and walks away.
It's only when Chase is gone that I pinch Klaus.
He only grins.

Elijah
Alone.
Gone was his sister who had finally carved out a life of her own. Niklaus whom, at most times liked to keep a tight hold on everyone had suddenly found his interest elsewhere. And now his brother had found himself bewitched by the one witch that could be the fall of them all.
Alone, he ponders his next move. He certainly hadn't started this day off with a chip on his shoulder and ax to grind with Bonnie nor with Niklaus. In fact he had been in excellent spirits thanks to spending some time with the very alluring Lucy Bennett. However, Haley had brought up some valid points when speaking about the fire and ice combination between his brother and Bonnie Bennett. Right now, the two were in the fire stage where all they wanted was to be naked together. But what happens when that ends and the real Niklaus and Bonnie appear? Despite the reputation of his brother, he knew that Niklaus wanted most of all was someone that could accept him flaws and all. He wanted someone who could be loyal to his cause and fight right beside him. Bonnie, was the exact image of what Niklaus had always wanted.
However, Bonnie came with a moral compass that had always steered her in the chosen direction. She also came with Damon Salvatore who not only had a fondness for the witch, but a fondness in which the witch had returned. The closeness between the two could turn into more and that would not end well for anyone. Especially if Niklaus continued with this infatuation.
The thought alone, has him craving Scotch. He knew he was holding on too tightly, but he was trying to save Niklaus because if by some way things did end badly. His brother would reign terror on everyone till they hurt as much as he hurt.
Letting out a sigh, he drowns his drink and closes the door on all thoughts of his brother and the possible of impending doom. Instead he listens to the quiet house. It had been so long since he had sat in silence. All the staff had been sent home on the request of Niklaus and here he was all alone and he reveled in it!
In a moment of needing control of something he runs his hand through perfect hair. Next, he tosses his suit jacket over the couch. He then quickly unbuttons the top buttons of his shirt. The restrictions the shirt offers at his wrist are also removed as he pops the buttons and rolls up his sleeves.
Settling at the piano he begins to play, a smile forming on his lips as the music takes him far away from always and forever.
So lost in the rapture of the music he nearly misses a knock on the door, which comes after he's finished his latest piece. Squinting he gets up from the bench ready to question who would dare come over to this home uninvited.
When he gets to the door, it's the very human heart that gives him pause. Swinging open the door he's surprised to find Lucy Bennett in a skin tight number that makes his mouth dry and a six pack dangling from her hand.
"Lucy, what brings you over?" He asks trying and failing at staring at her exposed skin. His eyes travel up to her face, where beautiful lips rest before finally meeting her eyes.
The woman in question offers him a bright smile. "I heard from a little birdy that you were home alone and thought why not be alone together."
He leans against the door. "What would you like to do?"
"I think you should take me to your favorite place." She says with a bite of the lip.
He nods. "Sounds like a splendid idea." He says not bothering to get his suit jacket. This night just got much better then he originally thought it would be.
In less than ten minutes they were on the road, alone . . . together.

His favorite place had turned out to be far from the city. Once upon a time when he still had hope for him and Katerina, he had bought property out in the country. The home was this big farm house he had thought they could live their immortal lives out together. He had foolishly thought that this lifetime they could live it out differently than the others– that had yet to happen as Katherine was still out for herself and Klaus was still out for her blood.
"This is it." He says parked outside the farmhouse.
"This is your favorite place?" Lucy finishes.
"Yes, it gives me hope and makes me ache all at the same time." He says getting out of the car to walk up to the porch.
"Why?"
"I had this house rebuilt for a life I wanted to live with a woman who was always slipping through my fingers." He says whilst looking down.
She nods. "If she was always slipping through your fingers why do you love it so much– if it hurts just the same?"
He turns to look at her. "Because, it makes me feel, and when you've lived as long as I, as many lifetimes as I, " He tilts his head down and looks at his fingers. " You just want to feel something." He says retrieving a beer from the six pack she brought with them.
She licks her lips. "It's understandable, I guess. People hold on to the past for lots of reasons, good and bad." She surmises while joining him on the porch next to him.
The sounds of crickets join them as the two sit in silence. He can hear the wildlife of the country running about, birds tweeting, people talking, some crying and others laughing. But what is most prominent is the sound of a single raging heartbeat next to him.
"What is on your mind Lucy?"
She turns to look at him. "I spoke to Bonnie. She still doesn't like you." She says pausing to gauge his reaction. She studies him then for a few more moments, honey brown eyes searching. "It's obvious she's seen a different side of you, then the side you've shown me."
His raises a brow. "And that's a problem?"
She stands suddenly. "I want to know who you are?" She says with finality. "I want to know, the real you, and not the you- you think I want, but you." She says poking him in the chest.
He easily holds her hand to his chest. "I've been many different people in many different lifetimes." He says licking his teeth.
"Is this your way of avoiding my questions?" She asks sitting back down next to him.
He chuckles tilting his head back as he looks up at the moon. "I am a man, who is not faultless, I've made plenty of mistakes– but right now in this moment I am a man who enjoys spending time with you." He says turning to face her. "And that includes, doing whatever it is that you want to do."
She breaks first looking away. "You're lucky you're easy on the eyes because normally I would've checked out a long time ago."
He leans close to hear now, inhaling her scent. "Is that why, or is it because you like spending time with me too?"
She smiles bright his way. "I'm still debating."
"Well, let me finish the debate for you." He says bridging the gap between them. He eyes her for a minute or two before deciding the Lucy Bennett just what he needed.
Their lips fuse together almost instantly. She's soft and smells delicious, she tastes like the ripest strawberry he's ever tasted.
When she pulls back, he's still leaning forward.
"Are you feeling anything now?" Lucy asks a smirk on her lips.
He stands to his full height. "I'm feeling lots of things, how about you let me show you."
Lucy soon joins him standing as well. "Ready when you are." She hands on her hips.
He stands close, very close, eyeing her for a long moment. "You're gonna have to lose your clothes for what happens next." He says pushing her hair off her shoulders.
"And why is that?"
He unbuttons his shirt leaving it on the porch. Next he unclasps his pants. "Because you and I are going skinny dipping."
"You're serious?" She asks looking out onto the water.
"Very."
She pauses for a moment before tossing her clothes on the porch as well. "Lets do it!"
He winks her way, before they both run for the water.

Klaus
If he hadn't known before, he knew now that Bonnie was the spark he had been missing for quite some time.
Though he can still hear the thumping of her heart due to Chase interrupting them, he can still detect the flush of her skin and the scent in the air is nearly driving him insane. She had enjoyed what she did for him, she liked the power she had over him. He'd even reckon she liked the taste of him due to her licking her lips.
"I can't believe he caught us." Bonnie nearly wails as she sends greener than normal green eyes his way. Her skin shimmers and all he wants to do is lick her down. He can't seem to keep his eyes off of her as she continues to talk, with him nodding to show he's listening. Was she always that beautiful or was it post coital that had him feeling warm and fuzzy? The way she devoured him was a thing of beauty. He's positive even a hundred years from now he'll remember the way Bonnie Bennett proceeded to stop the car and then take him down.
"I've been caught doing worst." He says finally. He taps his fingers against his leg itching to touch her, to taste her the way she tasted him. And he would have her, in every way possible, he'd see to it.
Bonnie only shakes her head as he gets the car started a smirk on his lips.
"I can't believe you didn't hear him!" She says looking out the window. "I mean you're a hybrid. Your five senses should be off the charts!' She says tossing him a look which went straight to his dick.
He looks over at her. His hand firmly placed on her upper thigh. "I guess you and your magical mouth got the best of me."
She snorts all the while digging in her purse to pull out red lipstick. He watches as she reapplies fascinated by her beautiful mouth. "Flattery will get you nowhere." She says finally looking his way, with a twinkle in those green eyes. "Eyes on the road Mr. Mikaelson."
It's on the tip of his tongue to have her say Mr. Mikaelson once more. However, the silence that falls between them is comforting. While he drives Bonnie keeps looking out the window while he's plotting to keep her longer . . . closer. It was well known that once he found someone he got on with, he often wanted them to stay, the same had been with Stefan, you could even call him possessive. But that was just the wolf in him. With Bonnie though, he felt like everything with her was in technicolor for the very first time. She was full of life, full of a vibrancy and he wanted to soak up being in her presence.
"Klaus, I'm quite sure that my house is in the other direction, unless you know a shortcut that I know nothing about." She calls breaking through his thoughts.
He squeezes her thigh. "So glad you're paying attention, I have no intention of taking you home without any type of security especially with people ticked off at me and you."
She lets out a sound that is between a sigh and a whine. "But my bed was calling my name."
"My beds better love," He says flashing her some dimples. "And why have a bed call your name when you can have me." He says matter of fact.
"Klaus." She calls just as he pulled up into the driveway.
Turning to face her he runs his thumb across her cheek. "I've got a big house with many rooms, a big bed for your every desire," He says leaning closer. "I have what you want, what you've been missing in your life, and what you've been craving." He says placing a kiss to each side of her neck. He makes sure to scent her as much as possible.
"What if– what if I say no to sex, would you still want me to come over?"
He pulls away to meet her eyes.
"Would you still invite me into your house and your bed, if all you got was me, fully clothed?" She asks eyes fixed on him.
He puts their foreheads together. "In case you haven't noticed, I'm quite fond of you, with," He says pausing to drag out his words. " Or without your clothes on." He says as a flush reaches her skin.
When she smiles, he gets this feeling that is still foreign to him but all too familiar at the same time.
"Ditto." She finally says a smile still tugging at her lips.

Bonnie
Once inside I realize that the house feels so much different from it had earlier. I knew Klaus had sent the staff home, as per Josh had spilled the beans earlier. It's just that it's much quieter now. The warmth that had hit among walking through the doors is severely missing. I guess you could chalk that up to Hope. The youngest Mikaelson had such a bright light that she illuminated the cloud that hung over the Mikaelson family and everyone else for that matter.
Klaus walks about turning light switches on before turning back to me. He's leaning against a wall looking at me with intense eyes.
"This place feels so much different from earlier." I admit.
"That's that the Hope effect." He says pushing off of the wall. "She makes this old dark house feel like a home." A smile finds its way to his lips and I find myself doing the same. "She brightens up this house and everything around it, and manages to keep the darkness at bay by just existing."
He eradicates the distance between the two of us, and I find my hand running through the side of his hair. "She is a ball of light and energy that cannot be dimmed, not even by the presence of your brother." I say with a tilt of the head. My words were true, Hope was something special, you could feel, and see it.
He looks now shaking his head, and then looks back up at me, a ghost of a smile on his lips. "Well, " He says as his knuckles ghost along my cheek. "You won't have to worry about Elijah or anyone else for that matter." He says as his other hand finds it ways to my hip. "Nobody else is going to come between us."
I raise my eyebrows and he grins.
"I made it clear to Eli that he needed to find a hobby."
My eyes travel across the room. "Are you sure he isn't lurking around somewhere?"
Klaus grins while he places his forehead. "It's just us, love." He breathes against me causing my stomach to do flip flops. "No Rebekah and Marcel whom are enjoying newlywed life," He says lacing our fingers together. "No Elijah," He says walking me back into a nearby table. " No staff, no Damon– just,"
His hand comes round my waist lifting me up to sit up on the table in the foyer. His mouth is close to mine and I'm wondering why I'm fighting this so much. I don't think I've felt this kind of energy with someone else my whole life. It's electric. I want it. I crave it. I'm into him. And as much as I try to douse the flames dancing around the two of us, this, he and I are inevitable.
I lean close to him as he leans back just a little bit with teasing eyes.
"It's just you and I." He says finally.
I look up into his eyes. Blue eyes that are so honest, and raw. "I like the sound of that."
His hands roam my shoulders down my back to my hips, where he brings me closer so that our bodies are nestled together.
"Come with me." He says matter of fact I can only nod my head and agree to his words.
Hopping of the table, Klaus steadies me. "Close your eyes first." He says once we're toe to toe.
"Klaus–,"
"You trust me don't you?" He asks his voice still laced with seduction. "You've trusted me thus far to bare your soul about your family and friends." He reminds his face close to mine. "You trusted me enough to allow me into your home– into your bed." Pause. "You trusted me enough to allow me inside, inside your warmth." He grits his teeth while his eyes fall close. "And let me go deep and deeper each time." He whispers.
I shiver at his words at the mere mention of how good it is between us. "Ok." I admit closing my eyes. Klaus comes around me as his hands fall to my hips. His mouth is close to my ear as he steers me in the right direction, all the while giving me instructions.
Never thought the sound of someone voice could have such an effect on me, but Klaus was certainly having an effect on me. Usually I liked to be in control of everything but I felt I could let some things go.
"All right love, open your eyes."
When I did open my eyes, I found that the room had been illuminated by candles.
I turn around to face Klaus who has a pleased look on his face. "You did all of this?"
Klaus who kept his hands on my waist moves his hands up to so that his thumb touches my bottom lip. "This is date night revisited." He says with dancing eyes. "I've got two select wines chilling, some of my favorite records lined up and a few you might enjoy as well.
"And,"
He pauses and my eyes are flicking from his ever blue eyes to his lips. I can't help myself but to plant a kiss on him. His arms wrap around me bringing me closer. He pulls away knowing when I need to breathe.
"And the best part is we're alone here." He says eyes dark. "No more distractions."
I turn round to face the room, a ghost of a smile playing at my lips. The room was lit with various sizes of white candles. The floor had petals of flowers red, white and pink glittered about on the hardwood floors making it look effortlessly beautiful against the dark floor.
A piano sat in the middle of the room while the rest of the room was decorated with comfy oversized pillows. In the middle of the floor, two-covered trays' lye.
I wrap my arms around him and lay kisses to his face. "Thank you."
Our eyes lock briefly, before he brings his lips down to mine. Although I knew it was coming, my heart still fluttered when our mouths met. My hands roam his back while his drag me closer. And if I'm honest with every second I want to be closer.
He's first to pull away, leaving me wanting more. It must show all over my face because he's dimpling my way with a cocky look crossing his features.
"They'll be time for all that, later." He says with a heated look. "I promise you, that is, if you still want it." Klaus says with a kiss to my hands.
Klaus soon finds his way to the record player while I make myself comfortable. I still can't believe that he had gone out of his way not once, but twice where I was concerned. The first being the elaborate tea party he set up earlier. The second being the date at the club and here he was doing it all over again. Nobody had ever put that much effort into me, nobody but Klaus.
In fact the man could've easily kept things physical between the two of us. That was the initial plan after all. But he wanted to do more than just get me naked and I wanted to do the same, in addition to getting him naked.
When Klaus finally found what he wanted to listen to he turned around a rueful smile on his lips, a smile I mirrored.

Klaus
Seeing her looking so comfortable, he kept thinking he could get use to this, use to this feeling, use to this woman . . . use to it all. He had to remind himself to slow down because every move he made was fast and with Bonnie he wanted to take it slow, enjoy it while it lasted.
He could've easily taken her upstairs, she was ready for it, eager for it just as he but Bonnie deserved more. They had all night to reacquaint their bodies. But this– this moment where she looked up at him like he could be a prince instead of the monster was well worth it.
"Care for drink? I've preselected strawberry and peach wine."
She beams at the notion and his long dead heart thumps.
"I'll take strawberry." She says accepting the glass while he had settled for peach.
He makes himself comfortable sitting close to her, all the while feeling emerald eyes on him.
"What's on your mind?" He asks finally turning her way. She's got an inquisitive look on her pretty features, while sipping wine and eyeing him over the rim of her glass.
"You!" Pause. She blushes the prettiest shade and he finds that it's his new favorite color. "I mean– yes I meant to say you but," She nibbles on her lip and he wants to do the same. "I never thought you'd be like this."
He licks his teeth. "Like what?" he asks pushing down his insecurities.
"Normal...generous." She flicks bright eyes down to play with her hands. "You're fun to be around and yes you have a temper, but so does the rest of us."
He reaches for her and instead of pulling away she leans into him. "For the right people I can be a lot of things."
She finishes her drink and nearly straddles him seconds later. Well, she does as much as she can in that dress that is molded to her body. She must've seen him starring hard at her dress because she draws a line with her finger nail and a slit appears.
"Do you," She asks mouth close to his.
"Yes." He says looking up at her as she looks down at him. She could ask him just about anything and he'd do it right now, as long as she stayed right where she was.
"Want to–"
He places his hands on either side of her all the while pulling her down on his lap. Her words stutter as she feels how much she effects him.
"Dance with me?" She asks with wide green eyes and parted heart shaped lips. Dance with me, she had asked pressed up against him- her tiny hand resting against his chest.
Locking eyes with her, he nods. "But of course." He says scooping her up bridal style, she lets out a surprised shriek before giggling. He was never as romantic as Elijah, but he did know how to charm the person he was perusing.
Once he sets her down she holds onto him. "Ready to show me your moves Mr. Mikaelson?" She purrs as they stand toe to toe.
Her arms wrap around his waist as she looks up at him, with bright eyes – bright eyes he could see a future in, if he looked long enough.
"Oh love," He says a smirk forming on his lips. "Lets just hope you can keep up.
And so they danced, or at least they would've had she not taken the time to remove her sexy as fuck heels. He watches as she bends to remove the shoes a whistle fleeing from his lips. "Pity you looked so damn irresistible in those shoes."
She tosses him a smile over her shoulder, a sassy look on her features. I'm quite irresistible without them as well." She says with a sultry voice that makes him twitch in his pants. He wouldn't go as far to say she was the best he had ever had, but she was definitely in a league of her own.
"Come now love, dance with me." He says reaching his hand out for her, a hand she always takes.
And so they began.
They dance to fast songs where he shower the appropriate moves to make for the song and era. Sometimes she was an excellent student as she mimicked his moves to a perfectly. Other times she laughed so hard tears streamed from her eyes.
"Are you questioning my authority on that period of time?" He asks with faux displeasure. He was enjoying himself, watching her laugh added to the mix of the back and forth they had going had been entertaining.
She beams. "Yes, I know you're like 2 million years old.
Blue eyes roll. "I am not that old."
Her lips quiver before her next words and know she's about to talk shit. "With those dance moves, you could've fooled me."
He of course finds the banter between them invigorating and soon uses his vamp speed to drag her close to him so fast that she has to catch her breath. Its then that he kisses her senseless. When she pulls away, she has this far away look in her forest green eyes. A look that he's glad that he was the one put it their.
"Next time you talk to me like that, I might have to put you over my knee as opposed to just kissing you."
She places both hands on his chest all the while her head is tilted back to look up at him. "You never know, I might just like it."
"Tease." He says his lips curving into a smirk.

Bonnie
We danced for the rest of the time to slow songs, songs that had my face buried in his chest and his hand resting on my lower back. His scent is all around me making me feel heady. His warmth has the tendency to wrap around you like a warm blanket on a cold night.
"What's next?" I ask once the song has ended. I run my hands through my hair tossing it over to the side.
Klaus has gone to fetch his wine glass and finishes it off in one quick drink. "That depends on you," He swallows. "On what you want." He says walking over to me.
I pull him by his necklaces, so that my lips capture his. My tongue seeks out his as they slow dance like we had been doing moments ago. He waste no time lifting me up so my legs wrap around his waist. Our lips are fused together as he makes his way out of the room, everything else long forgotten.
I pepper kisses along his bottom lip to the side of his face down to his neck as he climbs the stairs leading up to his bedroom.
When we make it to his bedroom he kicks the door closed with the back of his foot. With me in his arms, we lock eyes once more. I smile at him, and he does the same before leading the way.

Dream sequence
When I woke up I was back home at the house Damon and I shared. The smell of pancakes wafted through the air making my stomach growl. A smile plays on my lips at the thought of seeing my bestie. It had been way too long since we had a Bonnie and Damon day in.
Hopping out of bed I head straight for the kitchen where Damon stands with his back toward me. He's dressed in a flannel shirt and dark jeans. His feet are bare and he's humming along to a song that's playing through the speaker.
I take two feet in when he stills.
"It was so much easier when it was just the two of us, alone in 94." Damon says and edge to his voice that nearly has me frozen. "We were better off before we came here, before you became who you are."
I narrow my eyes his way. "Excuse me, what is wrong with you?"
When he turns around his eyes are dark, the blue color that had driven plenty of women wild is now replaced with black. His skin looks clammy and he looks me up and down with so much disdain that I dare not move.
"Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie don't you know when you're talking to a ghost. I mean you were the anchor– this should be nothing new to you."
"No." I breath taking the steps so that I am closer to him. When I reach for him, I feel nothing but a cold chill that tells me I'm all alone. Panicked I start to cry. "I can fix this, I can bring you back." I say as spells run through my mind quickly and leave me just as quick.
Damon laughs and it's the same laugh he use to do when he first arrived to M.F. It lacks warmth and everything that I've grown to love about him.
"Why would I ever want to come back to you. Everything I loved about you is a dead as I am." Damon spits. "I went with Enzo for you, because I care about you so much, and look where it got me." He says pointing to his eyes. "He showed me the truth, the truth behind your green eyes." He says with a nod. "While Enzo plotting my demise with a witch I screwed over many moons ago, you were screwing Klaus."
Tears stream down my cheeks.
"Everything, you touch, burns to ashes. You're the problem Bonnie, you that's why you've lost us all."
I shake my head. "No. No!" I cry out. "I cant lose you again." I plead. "Please don't leave me."
"Sheila, Rudy, and now me." Damon says as he goes up in flames.
I fall to the floor automatically. I rock myself back and forth as my skin feels like death itself had wrapped itself around me. I had seen them all go up in flames, one by one. It's a loop that I cant unsee.
Suddenly a pair of boots sounds somewhere in the kitchen. They get closer till I see the brown leather. Looking up I expect to see Klaus, but all I see is Enzo with fire in his chocolate brown eyes.
"You didn't think I'd let you move on so easily did you?" Enzo says knelling down besides me. "One by one I'll get them all Bonnie, Damon was just the beginning. We belong together Bonnie, and I'll burn everything to the ground till its just you and me." He smiles. "Till we meet again."
End of dream
I awake suddenly the sound of thunder clapping loud enough to snap me out of my dream. Looking over at the window the sky is dark with rain pouring down, the sound is so loud I'm surprised I've slept this long. Looking over at the antique clock, I notice that it's early morning.
I had fallen asleep in the warmth of Klaus and his arms. He made me feel safe, but even Klaus couldn't slay all the dragons for a girl like me. I look over at him again, the rain having no effect on him. In fact it appeared he was in a deep sleep for a vampire. He was laying on his back, while I used his chest as a pillow. I place a kiss to his chest where his heart rest before getting out of bed. Looking around me, I pull on the first thing I could, which just happen to be his shirt.
Scrubbing my face, I head out of the bedroom and into the restroom. I needed a minute to compose myself. Once inside of the bathroom, I take a long look in the mirror. I looked like I had been drained. My skin which had been so bright earlier, looks dull now. It's almost like the dream sucked some of the life right out of me.
I knew what I needed to do and that was face my fears. I needed to call Damon. With my phone now in hand, I head downstairs to the room Klaus and I had danced in earlier. I needed a recent memory that had been happy to replace the awful nightmare, and Klaus and I dancing had been the perfect memory.
As I made my way to the room, I came upon a drink cart. With shaky hands I poured myself a healthy portion of bourbon. Once finished I let out a breath before going to my frequent calls where a picture of Damon shows. Tapping the picture on the phone quickly I wait for it to begin ringing.
Instead it goes straight to voice mail.
I let out a sigh as I sit on the comfy couch in the music room.
"Congrats, you've reached my voice-mail! If you're one of the selected few, I'll call you back. If not– don't hold breath, or maybe you should."
I chuckle at how horrible his answering service is. But it's all Damon, no chaser needed, just straight up Damon.
"Hey, it's me." I say with a sigh. My voice breaks at that moment. "I really wish you got you- instead of your voice-mail." I say as a tear falls from my eyes. " I know you're doing all of this for me." Pause. I nibble on my lip. "But you have to know that if something ever happen to you and it was because of me...it would break me Damon. I had a dream about you and it made me realize that all of this– it's not worth it." I say getting choked up. "I know you're stubborn and hard headed so, this is probably going to only stroke that ego of yours, so please call me.. At least to tell me you're ok. Please be safe and most importantly, please come back."
Hanging up the phone, I fold my hands under my chin. I let out a breath, I didn't get to talk to him but I felt better knowing that he would hear my message. Drained I stand turning around only to something in the shadow, followed by a slow clap.
"Well, well, well- you played this hand quite well Ms. Bennett– but looks like you lose." Elijah says stepping forward. "You are the first woman in a very long time to pull the wool of Niklaus Mikaelson, so here is your applause." Elijah says with a long drawn out slow clap yet again. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
I squint realizing whom is in front of me. Elijah was back and obviously lurking in the dark. It looked like he finally found his hobby, eavesdropping. I look him over. "I am not in the mood for whatever this is." I admit dismissing him. "I'm going back to bed."
I make my move to walk away when suddenly Elijah grabs my arm. That was strike one. "Let me go."
Brown eyes trail down my face to my body giving me the creeps. "I always knew you'd slip up. Who knew it would be so early in the game." Elijah says after finally reaching my eyes.
"I won't say it again, let me go or I'll make you." I grit out. Elijah then smiles, a handsome smile that made plenty of women swoon. I just wanted to knock his teeth out.
Elijah clicks his tongue. "No can do." He says looking at me way too closely yet again. "You used my brother to get back at me for the demise of Abby." he says matter of fact. "Yet you just poured your heart out to the man who actually did the deed. You're a twisted individual Bonnie."
I pulled away from him as much as I could. "And you're a coward! You basically wanted the demise of a Bennett and instead of doing it yourself, you threatened someone else till they did your dirty work."
Elijah chuckles. "I did what I had to do for my family. I wont apologize. You're still standing, before me draped in clothing that belongs to my brother and smelling of him as well. You used your beauty as a weapon against him, to get to me."
A burst of magic leaves my body as I sear Elijah and toss him across the room. "You don't know what you're talking about."
Elijah is in my face again. "I've been on to you from day one. You wanted to take my brother away from me, the same way I took Abby from you."
All bets were off now.
"I don't use people for collateral, unlike you." I spit out. Up until this point I had chosen the zen route to dealing with Elijah but if he wanted to see me all the way up, then that was what he was going to get.
Elijah chuckles now. "You went after my family wether you would like to admit it or not." Pause. "Normally that would end in blood, maybe gore...certainly death." He says ticking each off with his fingers. "But since we've already been done that road, I'll offer you a deal, leave now and never come back."
A bubble of laughter leaves my mouth. He was serious, I found it hilarious.
"You can send Klaus a text, tell him how you want to be with Damon. Cut ties."
I tilt my head to the side. "Is that all?"
Elijah rubs his hands together. "The quicker the better."
I walk close to him and grin. "No deal. Number 1, I'm not using Klaus. Number 2, I don't give a damn if you believe me." I lift my chin up. "And number 3, I don't make deals with traitors."
"Pity," Elijah says a fiery look in his eyes. "I gave you an out." Elijah flicks the buttons of his shirt. "I guess I'll have to do what Damon failed to do that night."
"You're planning to get your hands dirty I am shocked." I snark out.
"I'm going to rid you from my brothers life. I will not let you tear this family apart!"
I smile his way. "You can try." I say ready to knock Elijah off his high horse. "Come and get me then, you bitch!" I say as Elijah comes rushing my way.
When he knocks me down I hit the ground hard. "It's a pity it has to end this way because you seem to make him happy, but you have to go." He says as his fangs descend.
I struggle against him as he face gets closer to my neck. That was not going to happen. When my hands break free I place them on either side of his head, sending a shock right through his body. I want him to feel everything I felt, and I'll make sure it hurts just as much as it hurt me.
It's only fitting that I rewrite a few memories that Elijah has and give it the ending that I had to all my loved ones.
He falls over as I stand before him. "I was going to let bygones be bygones but you drew first blood and now its my turn to hurt you like you hurt me." I say a smile falling to my lips. "All I needed was a reason, just one and well you've finally gave me many."
He mouth begins to foam as I look down at him.
"Any words you like to say to me?"
Elijah says nothing as he cannot speak.
"Good." I say as my magic reaches out to the original and takes hold.
BB-BK-BB
When I walk in the room, I can already tell that Klaus is in a mood. I get it– I kicked his brothers ass, but Elijah deserved it. He drew first blood by his words, I just drained him of his. It's exactly what he had planned for me, so it was poetic.
"Before you say anything, I didn't do anything you wouldn't have done." I say as he sits by the window, his eyes glowing as he has a cigar in one hand and a drink in the other. "In fact we just talked about this, he provoked me and it was necessary that I take care of him."
He gets up and I ready myself for what is to come next. "The he your are referring to, is my family!" He rages. "My brother." He says his words now softer.
I nod my head. If anyone had gone after someone I cared about, I would be pissed off too. But this wasn't my fault! I had warned Elijah to just leave me alone. He thought I was playing now he knew I wasn't. "He started it" Pause. "I just finished it."
Klaus only paces back and forth like a wild animal ready to make his move.
"I guess this is the end of the line for us," I say my words sounding foreign to my own ears. "If you really want to do this we can, but I don't want to." I admit. "He's not gone forever, he's just being taught a lesson not to ever mess with me again."
Klaus only smirks as his once blue eyes turn amber as his wolf surfaces. His head tilts to either side before he speaks. "Sweetheart, you have forgotten whom you're missing with. My family is my life. So, shall I remind you? Shall I remind you of who I am, and what I do?"
I stand before him. "I know you- and you know me, the choice is yours."
