Chapter: 43: You love me
Klaus
Flashback
"Please don't break my heart." She says her face open, her eyes expressive. As he watches her he can't think of anyone who had given him this much of themselves than Bonnie is in this very moment. She's giving him a chance to right his wrong, she's giving them a chance when she could've just walked away. She choosing him when really
He cups her face tilting his head to the side. "I promise you, I will do everything in my power not to break both of our hearts. You mean too much to me– for me to ruin this again." He declares fiercely.
He bridges the gap between the two of them lips connecting as hearts race in unison.
End of flashback
He had never been the type of man that was a cuddlier, cuddling was for puppies and he was a true wolf at heart...an alpha male. In his long time roaming the earth, he had been called and been a lot of things but with Bonnie he was different. She made him a better person and he gravitated to the light that surrounded her. That was probably why he could barley keep his hands off of her. He always had his hands on her, his fingers brushing against her hand, her body– gripping her hips, his arms wrapped around her waist or just hugging her to him, with her body against his. Whenever she was around, he couldn't keep his hands off of her.
And now was no different.
He's got her on the couch in his office, she's sitting close to him while he brings her much closer. He keeps her close, inhaling the scent of her which smells like sugar cookies and vanilla.
"So we're back together." He says so ridiculous happy that he could explode. "I know plenty of people who will cry salty tears over that news." He says lacing his fingers between hers.
Emerald eyes blink up at him, a flash of lime green showing up. "You mean Cami?" She asks brows arched as she leans up to nip at his bottom lip. Jealousy looks good on her. Really, everything looks good on her, him included. Jokes aside she has nothing to worry about. He hadn't wanted Camille in the longest of times. In fact he could barley remember the feeling of wanting his therapist. Bonnie had come into town and with her this sense of want had taken over him. It was a hunger that or a thirst that would never be quenched.
He dimples, yet again at the look on her face. He'd say it to the world, jealousy had never looked any sexier than it had on Bonnie Bennett. "Actually I was talking about Damon, Caroline and a few of your ancestors." He rattles off with a playful eye roll. He would delight in the mere misfortune of them not winning against him, against them– he and Bonnie.
"About that, Damon–" She says pausing. "Damon, he didn't know we broke up." She says whilst playing with his bracelet. "I never told him." She bites her lip.
He must admit, at least to himself that he didn't see that one coming. Bonnie was honest to a fault and the fact that she hadn't told the man she lived with, her so called best friend about their breakup had his inner wolf roaring with laughter. He didn't know which tickled him further the mere fact that if she had told Damon of their break, the look on his face after finding out they got back together. Or the fact that, he was able to penetrate through the Bonnie/ Damon bubble. It only proved that she may love Damon as a friend, but she was in love with him. He knew it to be true, he felt it in his bones. "Impressive."
She gives him a look that is more like a squint. "And I don't want you rubbing this..us in his face." She says looking up at him. "As for everyone else, they'll get over it, because I am where I want to be." She says her hand touching his stubbly cheek.
He can only kiss the tip of her nose. As for the comment about Damon, he chooses to ignore it. "They don't matter though, not really." He says with a sigh. "We are what matters."
Pleased she snuggles closer to him. "We keep what we have close to the chest, it's our story nobody else gets to write our story but us."
He doesn't think he could get any more happier at this moment. Especially with Bonnie in his arms. Now with her in his arms again, he realized just how much he missed this– missed her. She was in his veins – in his bloodstream and he never wanted to be without her again. With her now, folded into him, he takes a deep breath he had already spilled to her his heart to her willingly he couldn't stop himself from saying more. "You know, out of all the things I missed about us while we were apart, I think I missed this the most."
She turns to him now, her emerald eyes shining with words she's yet to say. The words he can clearly read now as it's written all over her face but most of all it's the tune in which her heart beats. She loves him. And he doesn't need her to declare her feelings right here, right now because he's spilled his heart. He wants her to say it when she can't hold it in any longer. Till the words come tumbling out of her mouth out of the blue. He wants her declaration to be just like their love story, unpredictable... because for once somebody loves him as much as he loves them. She loves him, she loves him just like he loves her.
She loves him and her forgiveness only proved it more.
And the whole idea is crazy because he never thought he'd find someone like her, let alone be reintroduced to her, and then find himself so far in love with her that he couldn't even think straight.
"Really?" She asks perplexed by his sudden outburst.
"Yes." He purrs as she sinks her fingers into his hair. Since when did he purr, he was a wolf, that growled and snarled he could even roar if needed be, but with her– he was putty under her fingertips. He sinks down to nip at her at her lips. "I missed the little things, the most." He says pausing to swallow hard. "When I thought I lost you, every moment we shared played on loop in my head." He says as he fingers trace her hips. "I kept thinking you screwed you're only chance at happiness away mate– you only have yourself to blame." He says as a knot forms in his stomach at the thought of her with another.
She closes her eyes while he rest his forehead against hers. When she opens her eyes, his breath nearly catches. "When I left, my mind had been made up. I told myself that I would never go back to you and that I could move on...forget about you." She says teary eyed as she bites her lip and places her hand on his cheek. "But I felt this constant ache in my chest...in my heart and this loneliness that I had never felt before." She says marvelous green eyes welling up with tears.
He rubs her back soothingly a wave of emotions hitting him at her reaction. He had known a thing or two about loneliness and would never wish it on her, his enemies yes, but never her.
She puts her hair behind her ear. "I realized that I was the only person holding back myself from being with you." She says with a watery smile. "And that by pushing you away I was punishing you and myself and I didn't want to do that anymore."
He hums while running his hand up and down her back the flimsy material of her silk dress moving it along with his hand, it almost like he's touching her skin but not at the same time. "Not that I'm complaining because I'm not, but was the light bulb moment, before of after I told you I was in love with you?"
She peers up at him, her chin resting on him. "Before I came out tonight, I made a vow to myself that I would let it go and as I danced my way through the French quarter– I did just that." She says, sitting up so she's no longer molded to him. A low growl escapes his mouth immediately though she doesn't seem to notice. "I had a choice to make and I made it."
He touches her chin gently. "You chose me?"
"I chose you." Bonnie affirms with this brilliant smile that has his own dead heart raging in his chest. Her fingers run along the hair at the nape of her neck. "I choose you and everything that comes with you." she says her voice dropping down to a whisper.
He nods his head, as he tries to keep his emotions in check. " I chose you too, and I don't think I'll ever not choose you."
It's her that makes the first move, raising up to meet his lips in a fiery kiss. A kiss that sends them both ablaze. He holds her in place as she falls into him. He wants to kiss and touch her everywhere. Tell her he's sorry a million times and kiss it better over and over again. He wants to bury himself in her warmth and the cocoon of the love they stumbled upon, because that's what it is– it's love real love, love that isn't always easy and yet easy at the same time.
When she pulls away, her lips are swollen as she sits in his lap. She bites her bottom lips and he swears it's the sexiest thing he's seen. "I think that's enough for tonight." She says her voice raspy.
He leans down and kisses her shoulder, as the thin strap has fallen down. "It's never enough." He says placing an open mouth kiss on her shoulder moving upwards. "I'll always want more and more of you." He says placing a sizzling kiss to her neck as she rolls her head to the side. His hand rest between the two of them as he fingers dance up her parted legs.
She hums sweetly as his lips make work on her neck, before moving up to her chin. It's then that she grabs him, placing both hands on either side of her face. "Klaus, you need to focus."
He dimples at her and stops momentarily trying to seduce her...or at least thinking about taking her clothes off, while she took of his in response.
"We're back together." She says slapping his chest to gain his attention. "I want us to work as a functioning couple, like a real couple."
Inside his wolf roars loving this kind of attention. On the outside he lets out a low growl, eyes only for her. His inner wolf wants them skin to skin basking in the joy of each other, getting lost in each other. His vampire side is more practical. She's not ready not just yet and he'd have to wait till she was ready to be intimate again.
He holds her hand to hiss heart. "Like Peanut butter and jam!"
"Or milk and cookies!" She says gleefully as they share a grin.
She leans forward and laying on him, as he can only wrap his both arms around her.
"We're going to be okay." He says feeling it in his gut. She came back to him and that tells him everything he needs to know about the two of them.
"I know we have people against us, and the little fact that you hate my friends." She says playing with his necklace.
He snorts. "And you don't like my brother or therapist."
When her eyes light up and he gets a tingle. "I'll have to cultivate a new a therapist." pause. "Honestly though love, it's us against the world." He says bringing her hand up to kiss it. "And I'll fight to ends of time for us."
She ducks down and buries her face in his chest. "I know you will." She admits suddenly. "You're not the type to declare words of love on a whim, unless you felt it."
He dimples. "You do know me, so you know I mean what I say."
A pause in conversation has the two of them just sitting quiet together, enjoying this moment and the moments that came before this. From what he's gathered Bonnie hasnt loved many men, but the ones she had loved everything had always ended on bad terms. The only man he can say she had loved that was still on good terms was Damon. And now him. He also is aware that her coming to him was a decision that she made out of love, even if it scared just little bit.
"I know you," Bonnie says suddenly. "Even the bad parts, the parts of you that scare me." Pause. "I know your paranoid, untrusting. I know you're always the first person to strike first before anyone else gets the chance." Sigh. "I spent time thinking about everything but more importantly you." She says sitting up to look into his eyes. "I get that you were dealt a bad hand, your mother was a mess and because of that she spent most of he time trying to make amends with someone who treated you so cruelly."
The inner child inside of him weeps because finally someone sees it. They see why he turned out so fucked up. His life story was tragic enough but he changed his story built a name they may be associated with being the baddest of bad guys but he carved out a place in the world for himself and now he was only adding to it.
"And don't get me started on Mikael." She says in a huff. "He was so busy blaming you for something that was out of your control." She says with a lick of the lips. "I get that you have a million years of issues and bad habits–"
"But–"
"But, that doesn't stop t me from wanting to be with you, because I've seen the good in you, you love hard and so do I." Pause. "So when you say you love me, I believe you." She says with these soft green eyes that make him weak.
He looks at her now a soft smile finding its way to his lips. "And I know you Bonnie just the same. I know that it's not always what you say, but what you do that speaks louder than any word or words you could ever say."
When he reaches for him, she reaches back. The embrace that comes next is effortlessly.
Celeste-Celeste-Celeste
The French quarter
Walking the streets of the city she enjoys as the cool breeze brushes against her skin. She had never imagined any chance at going after Klaus would be this easy. Cami with her, misguided affection for the hybrid was just another well educated woman who had fallen into his trap. The only difference between Cami and the others was that Cami may have been more crazy than Klaus had realized. That of course was a come up for her, and she planned on using this knowledge to her advantage like any other scorned woman would do.
She lets out a chuckle at her musing. Yes Camille O'Connor was book smart, well educated and all that but she had about one, two or even three loose screws in her head because the woman was losing her mind over Niklaus. If she cared more she'd tell Cami to move the fuck on and do better because she could do better, but since she didn't care for Cami nor Klaus, she'd just continue eating her popcorn at the mess that would unfold.
Flashback
"You do realize the gravity of your situation and the cost." She tells Cami who had found her enjoying a hot dog at a local vender. It wasn't like she was trying to hide, she wanted to see how far Cami was willing to go for love.
Cami stands before her. "I know what I'm asking you." Cami says tossing her hair to one side. She looks around then fear in her eyes before it disappears showing mirth. "Bonnie has left me with no choice." The blond says her voice coming out quietly.
She muses over her words poking her lip out in the process. "I'll need one of the relics as a sign you won't double-cross me and as I said, for everything I do, I want a relic in return."
"Fine." Cami complies extremely quickly. She watches the bartender who looks like she just cracked with a keen eye. You can't always trust crazy, so she'd watch Cami despite joining in an alliance with her.
"Do what you need to do to her." Cami says suddenly, her tone laced with venom. "Just leave Klaus...and his family be."
She takes a bite of her hotdog with mustard on it and chews slowly making the bartender wait for her. Lets not get it twisted, this was her game after-all. "Bring me a relic and I suggest you bring the one that was used to create vampires...after all it was the combined magic of both Bennett and Mikaelson magic that created vampires." She says purposely to rattle her knew wind up toy.
Cami blinks hard. "What?"
Gotcha Bitch, she thought amusingly. It's never to early to make sure that one you form alliance with realizes who is really in charge. She didn't work for anyone and Camille would figure that out real soon. She'd hate to have to toss her away so soon. She was rather amusing, crazy but amusing.
"Celeste!" Cami calls in a panic already.
She's suddenly tickled by this turn of events. You could call it boredom but this game she was playing was the most fun she had in years. Granted she was stuck on the other side for far too long.
She tilts her head to the side and crosses her legs. "You didn't know." She says in faux shock. "Vampires were created out of love by the two strongest witches at that time Ayanna Bennett and Ester Mikaelson."
Cami sits down flabbergasted. "Why?"
She shrugs. "Legend has it, that Ayanna loved the family as if they were her own and would protect them like they were part of her family."
Cami who is sitting next to her starts to panic her breath coming out in harsh pants. She reckons the poor girl might just have a full fledged panic attack, if she doesn't pull it together.
"Breathe." She says non to gently. "You have to breathe and get it together!" She snaps.
Cami looks over at her pained. "How can I pull it together when you're basically say that Klaus and Bonnie are meant to be." The blond huffs out. "It's like they are written in the stars or some shit!" Camille says panic stricken.
She shakes her head. "I never said that."
Cami looks up tears streaming down her face. "You don't have to, it's implied! It's like they are tethered together by ancestors and–" She shudders. " Love and affection." She pants. "Are you even strong enough to break a connection that just about spans the beginning of vampire time?"
Outraged she flexes her magic on the love sick bartender. "You don't question my abilities ever!" She says twisting her fingers which cause the bartender to contort in pain on the ground. "Don't get it twisted this is my show, you get those mystical artifacts and I'll take care of the rest."
When she flexes her hand Cami sits upright. "I just want Klaus." Cami says breaking down into tears. "I just want him to love me the way I love him." She whines. "I want him to love me the way he use to love me before Bonnie."
For a fraction of second she feels pity for the woman. "Listen to me, by the end of this, we'll both get what we want most."
End of flashback
Once she makes it home she puts on some tea and curls up in a chair. Her favorite book sitting on the arm of her comfy chair. She had read this particular book over a hundred times, it was his favorite book, a book he had read to her while she had taken baths and he sat on the floor while she was bathing. After she dealt with dreadful Camille then she'd make work of making sure that Mikaelson brothers knew she was back for the long haul. Her plan had been simple, get revenge on Klaus and remind Elijah that he would never find another like her, and then rip his heart out.
After all what is a jaded witch suppose to do with her free time?

Bonnie
Sometime later, Klaus is walking me to the door on my way back to Caroline. I don't quite know how long we've been holed up in his office but I know it was all worth it. We needed to clear the air and get through the heavy stuff so we could get to the good parts.
Walking out of his office, I can't help the smile that falls on my lips. Klaus loves me and I love him and the feeling of someone I'm in love with loving me back has me elated! I don't think I had ever felt liked this, not with Jeremy and not with Enzo. With Damon the kind of love I had for him was friendship, we'd always have each others back, no matter. With Klaus it was this profound feeling, that I never wanted to go away.
"So I'll see you tomorrow." Klaus asks a hopeful look on his face. "Perhaps we can carve out some time– have breakfast." He says arms wrapped around my waist."
I perk up at his words. "Breakfast sounds nice, I could go for waffles and bacon."
He dimples a mischievous look in his eyes. "I had a taste for something much sweeter." He declares his eyes turning the color of sand. "But waffles sound good too," He smirks. "Not as good as you, but it'll do." He jokes
I roll my eyes as he sends me a wolfish look. "Uh." I say pushing him away from me playfully. "I gotta go."
Klaus doesn't let me get far and pulls me back to him. "Tomorrow." He bends down to place a kiss to my lips. Of course because it's Klaus a quick kiss turns into much more.
I let myself get lost in him for a few more moments before pulling away.
Of course Klaus wants more and I use my magic to get the upper hand. The growl that escapes his mouth has me grinning. I could, get use to this, and might have to try it more often in a much private setting.
Slipping away, I grin back at him. "Tomorrow, Mr. Mikaelson." I say feeling his hungry eyes on me as a slink away.
Once far enough I release my magical hold on him. I'm nearly at the elevator that takes me away from the executive offices when something stops me dead in my tracks. Before another beat could happen I turn back around and Klaus is not as far away as he was before, I launch myself onto him. Seconds later, our lips are colliding in a needy kiss.
One more kiss that's all we needed
Or so I thought.
Klaus has other plans, as he lifts me up in his arms. Hungrily he takes control of my mouth, in a tangled kiss. Only when breathing is necessary do we separate as my kiss swollen lips pepper small kiss the column of his neck. A moan escapes his mouth once I get to his favorite spot on his neck. When I look up at him his once blue eyes are the color of molten sand.
Not one word is shared before he walks us back into his office slamming the door so hard I'm surprised it didn't shatter.
"Stay." He says once our lips are close together. He dimples offering me a heated look. "We've got a lot to make up for." He grins. "I promise you, I'll make it worth your while." He pants as I slide down off of him.
"If I stayed–"
He bites his lip. "I'd do you proper on every available surface." He reaches out to touch my face. "I'd bury myself in your warmth, I'd hold you close and my love for you would pour out of me into you endlessly."
I grab his necklace bringing him down to my level. "Such a way with words Mr. Mikaelson." I say thoughtfully. "You're very tempting, but I'm going to finish my night the way I originally planned." I say wrapping my arm around him bringing his face closer to mine. "Dream of me tonight, because I know I'll be dreaming of you."
He meshes our forehead now. "Go, have your fun with your girls, tomorrow you're all mine." He dimples.
I smirk and leave him finally able to walk away. Once I get inside of the elevator I let out a sigh of contentment, this felt right and we felt right and I'd hold onto it...to us for as long as I could.
I wouldn't let anyone tear us apart, not even Klaus himself.

Bonnie
When I go back downstairs I find Caroline at the bar nursing a drink. When she notices me she looks up as I sit down next to her. The tension between the two of us is thick, though I've already gotten over everything that had happened with her outburst and Klaus. Now I was onto bigger things like the mere fact that Klaus was in love with me, and I was in love with him.
"You look like you just lost your best friend, or at least missed out on a really good sale." I say as I hop onto the barstool next to Caroline. I was hoping to lighten the mood but Caroline is giving off gloom and doom like no other.
Caroline peers my way a wounded look on her face. "I almost did." She stresses her blue eyes going wide.
I could understand where Caroline was coming from, we never fought– like ever. When we were kids we had an explosive fight which lead to the two of us not speaking for almost three days, we had only made it two days because by the third day we were passing each other notes in class, or sending notes for Matt to deliver to each other and by lunch we were back to normal. As adults we had disagreements but tonight had been the biggest argument we'd had in ages.
I pat her shoulder in an affectional manner, hoping to soothe her worries. I wasn't going to lose my best friend over any guy, not Damon and our friendship and not Klaus. "But you didn't, and you never would lose me, just like I would never lose you." I admit causing her to brighten up. "We're ok." I say because really we are ok. I don't like what she said, but she said it and now that it was out in the open we could just move on.
Caroline tilts to the side her weary blue eyes looking over at me with keen eye that only a best friend could do. "You and me, or you and Klaus?"
"Both." I grin as a bartender comes over with a drink for me, I'd been on this martini kick this month and since everyone had known me as the bosses girlfriend, my favorite drink was placed in front of me without me having to say a word.
Caroline keeps on watching me as she opens her mouth to say something and then stops before opening it again, and sigh instead of speaking.
"Say it, whatever it is, just say it." I say with a finger wiggle. "Get it out now because after tonight, I don't want to revisit this." I admit wanting this whole thing over with.
"I've been thinking." Caroline says not looking my way. "I know I fucked up." She admits. "I know it's not my job to protect you– but you're my best friend and I have your back no matter what, and somebody has to protect you and it'll be me but I want you to know that it's out of love, though my execution could use help."
The snort that follows her words is almost automatic. "You know," I say turning her way as a my favorite appetizers are set down in front of me. I wave to the bartender before turning my attention back to Caroline who sounds so much like Damon that it's even a little bit funny. "You sound so much like Damon right now, his genes are definitely shining brightly tonight." I say not being able to hold onto the giggle that escapes my mouth.
"Bitch!" Caroline crows her face flushed with anger. "I was being sincere and serious." She says with a pout.
I sip my drink, giving her time to speak her peace. I motion to the food that is sitting between us as Caroline reaches for a chip to dip into the spinach and artichoke dip.
I sip my drink, giving her time to speak her peace.
"I know what I said before came out of left field," pause. "But maybe I was trying to protect both you and Tyler."
I send her a look that has Caroline a bit flustered.
"Here me out, I know I'm late as hell I know but I still made it." She dimples. "I want you to be happy Bon and honestly seeing you so sad was a lot to take in and so I brought up his past not to hurt you but to hurt him and remind him that if you wanted you could do so much better than him."
The martini I was sipping on cools me off as I really let everything out to Caroline. "I know it was hard for you to see me like that, it was hard to go through. He hurt me to the core but he's also made me the happiest I've ever been." The words tumble out wistfully. "We deserve another chance."
Caroline looks at me now with only a trained eye that a friend could see. "You already forgave him that's what took so long." She says eyes wide. "Oh my god, who knows what you were doing up in his office." She says looking me over yet again looking to see if anything was out of place.
I can't help but smile.
"Did you make him beg?" Caroline asks a grin on her lips. "Did he crawl or did he use his tongue to slather you down."
My face gets hot because Caroline is getting louder with every word. "Can you tone it down?" I suggest looking around for people who may have heard her. Caroline has a habit of being a loud one and you never knew who was lurking in the shadows to listen.
"You're not denying it." She burst an animated look on her face. "Oh my gosh, you were gone forever and your skin is glowing, and you smell like you did it!"
I flinch back. "We've been through this, don't smell me." I whisper out knowing she can hear me.
Caroline rolls her eyes. "Girl please, it practically radiating off of you."
I bit my lip and then give in once Caroline continuously blinks my way as if she's waiting on baited breath for my next words. "Klaus told me he loved me." I admit as leaning close to her. "He admitted to being in love with me."
Caroline sits back in her chair, her mind looks blown. "Wow."
I drain my drink and then signal for another one. "Tell me about it."
Caroline pauses thoughtfully, before speaking probably trying to find the right words to say. "Love, that's huge for many reasons but mainly because I know how much you really love him."
I can tell by the look on her face that she's holding back on her words. "Caroline."
She throws her hands up in the air. "Fine! On one hand I'm happy for you because you love and he loves you and after everything you've been through you deserve for someone to love you and as much as you love...because you love hard– with all of your heart and you deserve a man that loves you just as much."
"But?" I ask raising an eyebrow.
Caroline buts her hair behind her ear and turns in my direction. "It's Klaus and he can be unpredictable."
I nod. "Yeah he can be unpredictable but isn't that what love is, it's not predictable. You falling for Tyler while being with Matt was unpredictable, Damon and I falling into each other was unpredictable given our past." I swallow hard. "Klaus and I were anything but predictable and yet we love each other just the same."
Caroline nods her head.
"Just be happy for me, because I am happy, I'm so very happy." I say getting a bit emotional. "He's what I want, he's who I want."
Caroline smiles now and wipes my tears before they fall. "Fine you won me over, if your happy, I'm happy for you. " Caroline says a smile tugging on her lips.
I grin hopping off the stool. "Good I'm glad we've got all that out our systems because we another club to go to and I feel like shaking my ass."

Klaus
Nearly three and a half hours later he's still sitting in his office with a shit eating grin on his lips. The breakthrough he had with Bonnie was still on his mind. Not only had she forgiven him, but she had wanted to be with him and that...had meant the world to him. To have someone like Bonnie care enough about someone like him...someone many had walked away from only proved further to him that this love, that they had was the real kind of love that he read about, watched from afar but had never experienced in its true form. Yeah he had been in love before, Stefan was one of his loves, but that love could never compare to what he felt for Bonnie.
Sitting back in his chair he scrolls through his phone, an idea popping up in his head. He and Bonnie, needed a vacation from the stressors and triggers that had infiltrated their relationship. That meant they needed to get far away from NOLA for a couple of days spend some much needed alone time where they could be alone together. Dimpling, he scrolls for the perfect place, if he took her somewhere cold, she could snuggle up to him and bury her face in his chest, while he embraced her with his heat. If they went somewhere warm exotic, he'd get to watch her prance around in a bikini and frolic in the sea. He had the luxury of owning several homes all over the world, he just wanted their first vacation together, a vacation where he planned making sure she knew he wanted this, that he wanted her and only her, that he wanted them for the long haul.
Lips pressed together he thinks about Rebekah and Marcel. They had overcome many hurtles most of them, coming from him. But what they shared had been undeniable. And seeing it in real time, he knew that Marcel was the person for Rebekah and vice versa, they had spent so many years apart and then just took a leap of faith, and look at them now, the happiest he had seen either one of them. And he had known all about their other loves, but nothing could touch the love they had coveted for so long.
He wanted that- happiness with Bonnie. He wanted a house where she picked out the decorations and he footed the bill. He wanted someone to come home to every night, a bed that wasn't just his but her's too and he wanted more children if that was possible. A grin falls to his lips at the thought of that. He and Bonnie would make beautiful babies together, babies that looked like the perfect combination of he and Bonnie. That of course would take time though, Bonnie hadn't even admitted to loving him, though he already knew she did love him– it was in the eyes. And the mere fact that she didn't want to let him go, just like he couldn't let her go. Not to mention they had just gotten back together. He was getting ahead of himself.
That of course didn't mean it wouldn't happen one day.
A knock at the door sounds causing him to look up to see one of his hybrids at the door.
"Sir, I know you said not to disturb you but–" His security says a stern look on his face.
The hybrid doesn't get a chance to get his words out as Camille O'Connor can be heard outside his office. He rubs his hands over his face because he thought he made himself perfectly clear with Camille, if it came down to her and Bonnie, he would always choose Bonnie and he did choose Bonnie. Letting out a sigh he motions for security to let her in. He figured he could get this over with and then they could all just move on.
"I don't need an escort to see him." Camille calls out through the door.
He holds up his finger which halts all movement of his hybrid. Camille must've lost her mind if she thought she got to walk into his office like this. He decided she could wait, he had all the time in the world.
Thirty minutes later
He and the hybrid share a look before he allow him to open the door. Camille waltzes into his office an air of superiority he had never seen on her. It has him looking at her differently. It reminds him a little bit of Katherine, the type that thought they could outsmart you, when really they were playing checkers while you were on some next level shit playing chess.
Placing his phone down he folds his hands together. "Leave us." He says simply causing the hybrids to leave the room so that Cami stands before him while he watches her with a keen eyes.
When she walks into his office he's sitting at the desk his chair leant back. "Ah Camille, tell me what's so important that you're not only berating my staff but barging into my office all the while I was in the midst of making an important decision."
Cami has the at least the nerve to look a little sheepish. "I'm sorry for the commotion I've caused." She says carefully. "But you haven't been answering my calls, you've missed therapy sessions and to be honest I was worried about you." She sighs and runs her hand through her hair.
He can tell that she's not lying that she does care for him, it obvious to see now but what she wants and most importantly what he sees imbedded in her eyes, in her voice, in her every movement is not what he's looking for...not anymore. "You don't have to worry about me, I'm just fine." He says clasping his hands together.
Cami lets out an audible sigh of relief. "But I do worry." Her words linger in the air causing her to fidget and him to tighten his lips in response. Pressing his lips together, he says nothing for the longest time.
Camille, who was dressed in a black mini dress smiles at him. "Okay lets try this again, hi how are you?" She says a toothy grin. "I have never had to go through much security but today–" She stops and bites her lip. "Is something going on?"
He sits back in his chair. "Everything is just peachy Camille." he says a genuine smile on his lips.
She nods her head in understanding. "Are you avoiding me or something because I've called and texted and you have yet to do either." She says causing the smile to fall from his lips.
He turns his chair. "I'm a busy man Camille, you can't just expect me to drop everything to call you back." He lets out a chuckle that.
She shifts in her heels that are way too high. "I understand, you have a lot going on between your family and everything else. I know this club is important to you and to Marcel." She says softly. "And you know I'm all about business." Pause. "That's why I hated to have to close down for the night."
He says nothing for the longest time. "If you have something to say– I suggest you get to it I'm not interested in games."
She nods her head and sits down in front of him. "You're ex girlfriend and her squad showed up to my bar tonight."
He leans forward playing along. He had already gone over this with Bonnie. "You saw Bonnie?" He questions. "How did she appear?"
He can tell the exact moment when he pulse starts to hum much louder. In fact her skin flushes with what he can only assume is anger.
She tilts her head back and chuckles dryly. "She appeared to be fine. I mean why wouldn't she be?" She scoffs. "She came into my bar with her squad, and judging by the reaction of so many people around, she wasn't lacking in the male attention department." She says agitated. "Which shouldn't surprise you." She walking over the bar and fixing herself a drink. "I mean it seems like every man in her radius takes one look into those mossy green eyes and everything changes around them."
He watches her movements, notices little things like the way she clutches on the glass in her fingers, the way dark eyes have a hint of edge to them. If he didn't no better he'd say that Camille was one of his once scorned lovers. That of course couldn't be furthest from the truth because he and Camille had never really gotten started and after Bonnie, he could never see himself with another. "I detect bitterness."
"What you detect," She says whirling around to face him. "Is someone who knows better." She says softening her tone.
"So you think you know Bonnie better than I do?" He asks growing tired of this conversation.
She holds her glass close. "I can see right through her good girl act! She has most of the men and a few women wrapped around her pretty little finger and she's playing you and everyone for a fool."
He can't help the full belly laugh that falls from his mouth. He'd never seen Camille this venomous ever. It was comical but make no mistake her thinking it was ok to speak badly about his woman was not cool and he would make sure that she was well aware of it.
"Your being ridiculous right now Camille, and it's very unattractive look on you." He says giving her a cold look.
She runs her hands through her hair, her body rigid for a moment. "I'm only trying to help you see the truth that you've been failing to see." She says with a tired sigh. "In all honestly, if you weren't hypnotized by her bedroom skills you would see what I see, in fact you would see so much more." She emphasizes.
The smirk that had been on his lips after the slight he sent her way drops completely. "Let me tell you something, just because I found myself in love doesn't mean I'm a bubbling idiot." He says with an eye roll. "I know Bonnie, and if she had been using her new found popularity to get what she wanted, I'd still be proud of her because manipulation is often a trait that is frowned upon." He cracks a grin. "However, that trait and the art of manipulation has never steered me wrong." He says leaning back in his chair. "All of my enemies are long gone and as for the few that annoy me that are left...well I tolerate them for my own reasons."
Crestfallen she finally speaks, skin ghost white. "Love?" She questions. "You-you can't be serious?" She mumbles loud enough for him to hear. She bites on her fingernail looking more like a mess than had ever seen. He had always seen Camille calm and collected but right now she looked like she might just break in front of him. "Klaus– you can't actually believe you're in love with her?"
Bored he looks down at his phone momentarily as it flashes briefly. It's a picture Bonnie has sent his way along with a video that follows. "This isn't new news to you." He says finally giving her his full attention. "You've known for a while where my heart lyes."
She gets closer to the desk. "You never really said you were in love with her, even when I called you out on it." She says throwing her hands up in the air. "You avoided the word love in a real sense." She shakes her head. "The only thing you may have alluded to was that she was your mate which could mean anything in the supernatural world." She says sniffing as her eyes start to water. "For all I know you were linked by some ancestors treaty and only entertained her out of some obligation to someone from long ago."
He rubs his head a headache forming already. It feels like they had been sitting here for hours instead of however long it really was. "Nobody makes me do anything I don't want to. I chased after Bonnie because I wanted to, the very moment I saw her in my city I knew I wanted her and now look," He says looking up a smile on his lips. " She's all mine."
She rolls her eyes. "Do you remember what you said to me the day you found out she was coming to town, you went on tear saying she was a sanctimonious puppet, that did the bidding for the Salvatores! You were convinced she was up to know good." She reminds him pointing in his direction. "You thought she was out to get you."
He nods his head. "Yeah well, we all know how paranoid I can be. I was wrong when it came to Bonnie." He admits his tone changing. "And deep down I knew that, she had something I had always wanted to be shone to me, something I had always wanted for myself, a heart that was filled with unconditional love."
She shakes her head. "Can't you see! You've always had love...your family they love you even when you make it difficult and I–" Her words die down in her throat. "I'm your friend!" She cries. "And all I've ever done is try and help you." The words hang in the air, as the words love you wont dare leave her mouth.
He looks at her now like she being dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. "You need to hear the words?" When she blinks his way he decides to give her what she so desperately needs. "Fine! "I'm in love with Bonnie. I've probably been in love with her for longer than I even realized." He admits. "Nothing and know-one can change my mind about her about us, so you can stop trying to persuade me that being in love with her is in fact a bad thing." he says looking her pointedly. "Not even you."
She balls her fist together angered by his words, upset by his disillusion and most importantly jealous of the blind affection that is written all over his face. "Klaus you're smarter than this." She says quickly. "I care about you, I care about you so much and I hate to hear you speak so delusional about a woman who will never love you." Pause. "It physical for her, it always has been and you know that." She says her voice softening.
He looks up at her no longer seeing her as a friend but now seeing her as someone who dares to challenge him, and challenge his mate! "You know nothing!" He booms so loud that he can hear her body tremble by his outburst.
Cami thins her lips. "I know enough." She says not backing down. "She'll never love you Klaus, she'll never really chose you."
"Why?" He asks suddenly. "Because I'm so unlovable that someone like her, someone filled with light could never look at me as more than bed buddie." He asks interested in her answer. Bonnie had already chosen him just like he had chosen her but it would interesting to hear what Camille has to say.
She lets out a sigh. "Because you and I already know who she really loves."
He chuckles to himself and then gets up and walks over to the bar and fixes himself a drink. "You have it all figured out."
Cami crosses her arms in front of her chest. "It's obvious Klaus and I know it sounds harsh but it's true. She came into my bar with her squad and made it abundantly clear that she wants nothing to do with you. I watched her party, and dealt with her mean girl antics." She snarls out. "You are seeing what you want to see, but it's all lie." She says her voice softening.
He whirls around. "I call bullshit, Bonnie is not a mean girl and she'd never tell you anything because she doesn't like you very much." he says wagging his head a smile playing on his lips.
"I don't care about Bonnie, I care about you!"
He sends her a look. "I can take care of myself. I don't need you behind me trying to steer me in the right direction. Bonnie is the right direction, wherever she goes."
She fake gags. "Stop I've heard enough!"
"So have I." He snaps, don't let the door hit you on the way out. He says walking back over to his desk.
She swats at her eyes. "You've come so far." She says her voice breaking. " I've watched you from being on a bad day, paranoid, angry, hurt, itching for a fight, obsessive over everything, possessive over the people you care about, controlling to everyone in your inner circle and downright cruel to others."
This was the second time a woman had read him for filth, he was getting over it. "And here I though therapy was a safe space." He says drink in hand. He can see Camille is trying hard to convince him and herself that her words are true but he knows better. He knows Bonnie, he knows her like she's in his veins.
Camille looks wounded his way. "I'm not judging you." She admits. "Before Bonnie came to town, I had loved listening to your stories. You have the ability to be loving and funny. "You're passionate about life and everything in it but most importantly your family." She takes a step closer hoping to reach him. "Klaus, you want love, you need love and Bonnie is incapable of loving you the way you need to be loved." She touches his hand. "You're setting yourself up for failure and I want better for you."
He snatches his hand away from hers. "My personal life is mine and has nothing to do with you Camille." He says his words coming out harsh. It was time to rip off the band aid. He was letting her speak her peace because she had been a friend to him when he was essentially friendless. But now this– conversation was going down a road he didn't want to travel on. "You're my therapist, you were my therapist."
She sucks in a breath. "I'm also you're friend and friends tell friends the truth. Bonnie doesn't deserve your loyalty, your love or you." she pleads. "She'll never love you Klaus, not like I love you."
Her words came as no surprise not after this drawn out conversation. He had missed it before, hadn't noticed that somewhere along the lines Camille had seen him as more while he had ventured off in the direction of beautiful woman with green eyes and heart shaped lips.
He shakes his head warning her this was dangerous more so for her because if she kept it up she was going to get her heart broken expeditiously. "We're not doing this, or going in that direction. You need to leave."
"Why?" She asks with a tilt of the head. "Afraid of the truth?" She asks while walking to the center of the room. "Before Bonnie came into town we were gravitating closer and closer." She says running her hands through her hair. "We ignored our chemistry for the most part, but when we're alone you can feel it, you can hear it." She says a bright smile on her lips.
"Camille, stop this at once!" He says outraged.
She smiles again as steps out of her panties leaving them on the floor of his office. Next she slips down one slinky strap of her dress all the while keeping her eyes on him. "I know you still want it. I've known for a long time what what you've always wanted and here I am ready to give it to you."
He looks at her as if she's filth. How dare she come here with the intent to seduce him. How dare she try and get into his head and make him think this is what he always wanted. "Fix yourself!" He says as a growl escapes his mouth. She bloody tried to seduce him. It would never work though, because he knew what he had. "Fix yourself now." He says so lethally that Camille rights her clothes and stands before him with sad eyes.
"Klaus!"
"No!"
"This ends now. I love B, and she loves me." He says his voice low. "She is the person I've been waiting for to complete me!" He says hitting at his chest. "And I won't let the opinions of anyone, you or Damon, insecurities or anything else come between she and I." He says with a growl. "You may leave!" He shouts. "Or I'll have you escorted out, your choice, walk out whats left of your dignity or be thrown out."
When she stands frozen he roars her way. "Leave!" He shouts. "And don't come back! Effective immediately you are fired from being my therapist." He snaps. "You're service is no longer needed.
"No!" She cries. "You need me, and I made a vow."
He gets in her face now, he knows his wolf is showing because she's trembling before him. "I don't give a fuck what oath you made. I don't want you, I don't need you– in fact right about now you disgust me, throwing yourself at me like a whore!" He shouts.
Camille only trembles his way.
"I told you before, You're either with me or against me and since you seem to have so much malice for Bonnie you're against me, we're packaged deal."
It's then that she had a mini melt down. Tears stream down her face. "You're throwing me away." She says her face red. "It's always about Bonnie with you isn't it, Bonnie, Bonnie, Bonnie– it's always about Bonnie, but before she got here it was about you and me!" She yells back. "I've been loyal to you, I've been honest with you, and everything we built from the ground up means nothing to you?"
He gets what she saying, he understands it because if the shoes was on the other foot and somebody had walked away from him, he'd be incensed with anger. This was different though. Camille wanted something from him he'd never give her and keeping her in his life would not only effect his relationship with Bonnie but it would only hurt Camille more in the end. They needed to cut ties. Camille had a life to live, she wasn't a vampire like Damon who could mope for years on. Camille could move on, have a family make a life that was one she had always wanted.
Sighing he finally speaks again. "I thank you for being my friend when I needed one. I even thank you Camille for never letting me cross the line with you because if we had, it would've only hurt you more in the end."
Camille licks her teeth. "It hurts now. You are essentially kicking me out of your life for her and she's only going to break your heart in the end, the way you're breaking mine." She says tears falling from her eyes.
"Like I've said before, Bonnie is the woman I love, the woman I chose, one day you'll find the right man for you Camille, because I know and now you know I am not that man."
He watches as Camille stomps over to the door. "Fine, I'll go and leave but know one thing– you can push me away all you want, but I won't give up in you, I care about you too much."
When she finally leaves he lets out a groan. Camille was going to be a problem.
