This one follows on from the previous chapter, Dodgy Run In.

"I warned toy Jack O'Neill," Jacob roared as he ran down the corridors of the SGC after the frankly terrified looking General.

It had been a few years since the massage incident but Jacob had meant, and remembered, what he had told Jack that day. Jack had since been promoted and was now the commander of the SGC but that really wasn't going to stop Jacob.

Jack didn't even look back at Jacob's words, just continued to run yelling, "Clear the way," as he did to make sure that he wasn't going to have to slow down to get around people and allow the fuming Jacob to gain ground on him.

Most people moved to the side but a few were a little slow and had to be pulled out of Jack's path. Everyone stared at Jack as he ran past and then continued to stare when they saw who he was running from. Their passing caused a lot of whispers too, no one knowing for sure what was happening. They did all however guess that it had something to do with Colonel Carter; there wasn't really anything, or anyone, else it could realistically be.

Jack sprinted past the lifts but didn't stop to wait for one because he was pretty certain that Jacob would catch him if he did. Instead, he continued on to the stairs. They weren't used by very many people, or very often, so Jack knew he wasn't going to have to dodge round anyone once he was on them.

As the door swung open and crashed into the wall Jack made the decision to go down. Rather than just running like he had been up until now, he now had a plan for where to go. He went down the stairs quickly, jumping down the last few and using the railing to swing himself round to start on the next flight.

He heard as the door above him slammed open again and knew that Jacob was now in the stair way too. "O'Neill," he yelled, "I warned you years ago about inappropriate behaviour towards my daughter."

Jack remained silent as he jumped down the last few steps and ran towards the door that would take him back into the more commonly used corridors of the SGC. This chase had started up near the lifts that took you to the surface and Jack was now on the floor where Sam's lab was, which was where he had decided to head, still going as fast as he physically could. He really didn't want to give Jacob a chance to catch him up before he could get the lab door open and get inside.

Jack was in luck. When he reached the door Jacob was yet to round the corner and come into the corridor. He fumbled a bit getting his access card out of his pocket, his hands shaking a little from all the adrenaline pumping through his system.

When he did eventually get the card out of his pocket he swiped it quickly, not wanting to be out in the corridor longer than was absolutely necessary. As the door began to slide open, taking a lot longer than it normally did in Jack's eyes, Jacob came round the corner.

The retired General and Tok'ra host was red in the face, looking very flustered from the running and from the anger he was feeling.

Jack didn't wait for the door to open fully. As soon as there was enough of a gap for him to squeeze through that was exactly what he did.

Sam looked up from her work and smiled before she took in his flushed face and heavy breathing and frowned. "Um, what's up General?" she asked.

Jack didn't answer but he did move away from the door quickly and went to stand so that Sam was between him and it. Sam's frowned deepened and she was about to ask again what was wrong when Jacob came to the doorway. Even though he was breathing heavily, much like Jack was, he still managed to speak. "You Jack O'Neill," he thundered, "You have a lot of explaining to do."

"I see Dad found you then," Sam commented, trying to ignore the daggers that Jacob was throwing Jack.

Jack nodded but before anyone in the room could say anything more Daniel came to a stop at the door to the lab, a little behind where Jacob had now moved into the room itself.

"Sam," he stared, "Jack and Jacob."

He didn't get any further because he then realised who was in the room. "Ah, well I take it you already know about that," he backtracked.

Jacob rounded on him and demanded, "How long has this been going on? And since when has my daughter been this stupid?"

Daniel blinked helplessly before he looked to Sam for help. "Daniel go," she instructed firmly, "Dad, shut the door and calm down, we haven't doing anything wrong."

Daniel gave her a thankful smile before he beat a hasty retreat back down the corridor. Once Daniel was gone Jacob shut the door, but he still didn't look happy.

"Sit," Sam commanded both men once the door had shut, gesturing for Jack to perch on one clearish work surface and Jacob another. Both did as instructed, neither mentioning that Sam was ordering around a superior officer and her own father like they were cadets in trouble at the academy.

Once they were both seated Sam went to speak but Jacob got there first. "You say that you haven't done anything wrong Samantha but the evidence that you have is clear as day. You're having your commanding officers baby. You're carrying Jack O'Neill's child!"

Sam sighed before she heaved her now considerable bulk out of her chair. She moved to lean beside where she had told Jack to sit, which enraged Jacob further. Before he could act on his anger though Sam glared at him, making him snap his open mouth shut once more. "Yes, I'm pregnant, that's pretty obvious to anyone right now. Yes, the child is Jack's, but you're wrong about the child being my commanding officers. Do you think either of us would still be here if it was? At the very least they would have promoted Jack to a two star General." Sam spoke in a low, calming, voice, knowing that if it was anything but Jacob would properly just get even angrier.

Jacob frowned, not understanding what Sam had said in the slightest.

"Jack's been reassigned," Sam explained, "He's working at the Pentagon now, has been for a while now. He took over from George Hammond."

"But he's still your commanding officer," Jacob disagreed, "Well, your commanding officers commanding officer."

"Yes," Sam answered, "But no."

Her answer angered Jacob. "Just explain what the hell is going on," he snapped.

Sam and Jack shared a look before Sam spoke again, her voice the same level tone as before. "Jack got reassigned to the Pentagon and in his new orders the President and Joint Chief's had included, what they called, 'a get out of jail free card' that stated that I was no longer in Jack's direct chain of command and that any relationship that may or may not develop was fine by them."

Jacob blinked a few times before he asked, "If that is true, how come Jack is here if he's now based at the Pentagon?"

"My replacement, General Hank Landry," Jack began, "Is having a family issue at the moment that he needs time off to deal with. Because we don't know when how long it's going to take to resolve I came back to keep an eye on things while George is holding down the fort in Washington." He relaxed a little as he spoke, knowing that there wasn't any immediate threat of Jacob trying to kill him, at least for the moment.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Jacob asked, now sounding more offended than angry.

"We tried," Sam placated, "But you've been on a long term mission and the High Council didn't want to risk your cover by sending you a message."

Jacob frowned again before he nodded and stood. He walked towards Sam and Jack. Sam felt as Jack tensed a little beside her but then relaxed as Jacob pulled his daughter into a hug, taking are not to squash her protruding stomach too much between them.

"Congratulations Sam," he whispered in her ear, "You're going to make an amazing mother." Jacob then pulled away and turned to Jack. He looked the other man up and down before he smiled. "You take care of my daughter and grandchild Jack O'Neill, or what happened earlier will look tame in comparison to what I'll do to you."

"Understood," Jack responded quickly, "But I would never hurt Sam, or the baby."

Jacob nodded, he did know that, but he wanted the threat out there just in case. "Sorry for chasing you through the SGC too," Jacob then said, "It caused an unnecessary scene."

Jack smiled and shrugged. "Don't worry about it Jacob, I would have done the same if I was in your position."

Jacob smiled and the two of them shook hands.

Sam rolled her eyes and sighed lightly, telling her Dad that the grandchild was actually going to be grandchildren was going to be fun, although she hoped there wasn't going to be any more running, she was in no condition to go running through the corridors of the SGC.

Timeline is a little screwy but hey, it's my story and it has to be that way to work.
