Charri floated around the Capsule Corp rift, trying to figure out what to do. She was glad that she'd gotten her flying license after defeating Frieza. It made getting around Conton City so much easier; she didn't need to use the hoverboard anymore, though she still intended to use the train from time to time, since that would help conserve energy when she was exhausted.
She'd been training with Deimos for the last several days, exploiting the Zenkai boost to help her get strong enough to handle the Super Saiyan transformation. Fighting Frieza had done a number on her body, with how high she had to ramp up the Kaioken. 20 times had been a strain, 50 times had been a bit much, and 100 times…there was a reason she had been bed ridden for a few days before she trained with Deimos.
And that's why she was happy when the AI that had been assigned to her had informed her that Vegeta finally respected her strength. She'd fought him the other day in a training bout, and he'd been mulling things over about her when she left.
Charri landed on the Rift's landing and entered it and was immediately noticed by Vegeta. "You! Charri! Come here!"
Charri confidently walked over to Vegeta, and he continued. "I mean to ask you…Is refraining from transforming into a Super Saiyan part of your training or something?"
"I…can't do that," Charri said, hesitantly. She knew Vegeta wouldn't react well to this after the stories she'd heard about his interactions with Cabba.
"What? You have all this strength, but can't transform?" Vegeta said, surprised more than anything else. "Fine, I'll teach you. Quite frankly, I'm ashamed of you as a Saiyan."
"So, what do I do?" Charri asked.
"The path to a Super Saiyan is a path that's unique to the individual," Vegeta said. "Ask my family if you really want to know how."
"I know the mechanics," Charri said. "It requires power, which I have, and rage. But I haven't found my trigger."
"Hmph," Vegeta said. "Alright, then I have a way to get you there. I'll call your great grandfather, and we'll push you to your limits."
An hour later, Charri was standing in a wasteland with Goku and Vegeta standing in opposition to her. Both were in their first level of Super Saiyan. Both rushed her, putting Charri on the backfoot immediately.
"Worthless!" Vegeta shouted as he clocked Charri in the jaw. He continued his assault, punching Charri repeatedly in the head. He sent her flying with a basic ki blast, and Charri hit the ground hard.
Charri slowly rose to her feet and was forced to focus exclusively on defense. She was unable to dodge due to how much faster Goku and Vegeta were than her, so she was forced to block the best she could.
But blocking wasn't enough. Both Super Saiyans were getting through her defenses, beating her senseless the entire time. She was being ragdolled, tossed between the two more powerful Saiyans, unable to do anything. And Vegeta insulted her the entire time, belittling her, making her feel useless.
"Come on! If you don't transform, you'll never keep up with us!" Goku said, knocking Charri into a mountain.
Charri once again crawled out of the rubble, forcing herself to power up as quickly as she could. She needed power, and lots of it.
But Vegeta was having none of it. He rushed in and nailed Charri again, beginning another assault that sent Charri flying into a mountain before blasting her with a ki blast that drilled Charri's body deep into the mountain.
"If you don't transform, you're going to die!" Vegeta added. He looked over at Goku and nodded. Goku nodded back, and both took to the air.
Charri blasted the mountain around her away and looked up. She saw them both charging up their signature beam attacks. Once they were ready, they fired off a combined Kamehameha-Gallick Gun combo, which combined into one beam. Charri didn't have time to prepare her own Kamehameha, so she was forced to block.
She realized what they were doing. Goku had done this to Gohan all those years ago to force him to transform. With his life threatened, Gohan finally exploded in anger, letting out both his hidden power and the transformation that defined Saiyans of the current age.
Charri started to search her memory, trying to dredge up the right memory that would finally send her over the edge. Peparia's disdain, Frieza beating the crap out of her, the time she almost died performing the Kaioken…none of it was working. She was disappointing everyone, and if she didn't transform, she wasn't worthy of all the trust that others had placed in her.
The anger at herself began to rise. Right now, she felt so worthless, so helpless, so useless. She couldn't transform, no matter how hard she tried. And now, she was going to die at the hands of the people she adored.
"NO!" Charri shouted, her rage beginning to rise. Her power surged as her anger rose until her self-loathing made her explode in power. She slapped away the beams and rushed forward at Goku and Vegeta, nailing both in the stomach. She grabbed them both and slammed their heads into each other before flying at top speed toward the ground and slamming their faced, tossing them away.
She couldn't see straight right now. Her rage right now was too strong, too overwhelming. She heard Goku and Vegeta talking to her, but right now, she didn't understand the words. They were just noise, and they needed to be quiet.
She rushed in again, this time attacking Vegeta. The way he made her feel had been the trigger. She had to make him quiet, to end his endless taunts and mockery. She hit him with the hard left in the jaw, which sent him flying away. But she continued to rush him, with a combo of rights and lefts as she pushed him back. In her rage fogged mind, she didn't care that Vegeta still had a role to play in history; he needed to die.
But before she could do anything drastic, she suddenly felt a massive pain in her neck. Goku had chopped her in the neck with as much force as he could without killing her and knocked Charri out.
Charri awoke on the ground outside Capsule Corp with Goku and Vegeta standing over her. Goku was smiling, and even though Vegeta didn't show anything visibly, he too was happy with her.
"Well done. You've got it. Now remember that feeling!" Vegeta said. "You always had it in you to become a Super Saiyan."
Charri realized what had happened. The desire to survive, as well as the anger she had been felling at Vegeta during that entire exercise had been enough to trigger the transformation within her.
"You've still got a long way to go, though," Goku added. "Just becoming a Super Saiyan is the start of your journey."
"Master the form, and you'll make us proud," Vegeta said.
Charri bowed before her masters, knowing the path she needed to take now. To master Super Saiyan, she needed to learn how to control the rage, to learn how to not bleed out ki as she fought. Only once she had learned how to do this would she achieve higher heights like Super Saiyan 2.
But for now, she needed food and rest. That fight had taken a lot out of her, and she was in quite a bit of pain. It was time to take care of herself.
