Enjoy!
DANGANRONPA: OFF THE RAILS
Chapter 2 – White is for Wishing
Part 6 – DEADLY LIFE
The three stared at the dead astrologer as a familiar elephant and snake appeared. Tenshizo was looking shellshocked and scared while Akumahebi just laughed. "Told you someone one of these bastards would snap." The snake then turned and looked at the three and scoffed. "Oh, snap out of it you fucks… this isn't the first time this has happened remember?"
As harsh as the words were, Wally couldn't deny the truth. Shaking his head, he looked at the two hosts. "So… it's time to investigate? Conductorkuma File?"
Tenshizo lightly kicked the ground. "…T-Technically no… w-we need everyone here… b-but… they're a l-little… unable to g-get here?"
This caused a raised brow to appear as Li-Wei looked at them with a glare. "What do you mean 'unable to get here'?"
Tenshizo shrunk a bit under the glare as Akumahebi glared back. "Ain't our fucking fault you idiots locked the doors. Time's ticking dipshits."
Hearing that, Wally's eyes widened. "…Someone locked the carnival cart door."
Turning to the sidekick, Kana was confused. "Wait what? Since when did that door lock?"
Wally groaned and held his head. "One day I was trying to head back to my dorm when I found the door locked. Katashi did it and knew how to undo it… but didn't tell me how he locked it."
Li-Wei sighed and nodded. "Very well… I suggest we split up then. One of us searches to the best of their ability here while the other two hurry to find the lock for the door."
Wally nods as Kana looks back and forth between the two. "Well… since you're reliable… Wally and I will go looking in the carnival."
Li-Wei nods as he gains a serious look. "Be careful… and thank you for your trust. I won't let you down."
The two nod and head out towards the carnival as Wally turns to Kana. "You trust him?" The survivor sighed. "Not completely… but enough. Let's roll."
INVESTIGATION #2 – START
…
…
Entering the carnival cart, the sidekick and survivor split off to search around. There was a constant knocking and banging on the doors as they tried to hurry. Wally found himself looking in the big top tent once more when he heard Kana yell out to him. "I think I found something!" Rushing out to where she called from, he found the survivor standing in front of a statue of Libra… a judge like individual holding a scale.
However, taking a closer, Wally noticed one of the scales being tilted to one side as a- "Is that a bunch of knives!?"
He looked at the pile of weaponry before Kana shook her head. "No. They're daggers."
This caused Wally to blink for a moment before gaining a look of realization. "Oh! You're right…" There appeared to be five of them in total, all with different designs. One had a lion design, one a crane design, one a bull design, one a crab design, and… "A snake design." He picked up the snake design dagger with a frown. "Someone must have completed the games. Cause I have one like this snake one back in my room."
Kana frowned and nodded as she then pointed to the scales. "Look." She pointed to strong cords connecting to the two sides of the scales. "They seem to be connected… I think this is how the door locks?"
Wally nodded and moved the daggers to the other scale… which didn't do anything. He then simply removed all the daggers from the scales… which also did nothing. He was confused before he tried something else. He would place two daggers on both sides and one on the ground. It still wouldn't work as he alternated the daggers. Then, placing the snake dagger on the ground…
-CLICK-
Off in the distance, they heard the carnival doors opening as Kana sighed in relief. "Thank God. Let's hurry back to Li-Wei." Wally nodded and went to follow but looked back at the daggers for a moment before turning back and following the survivor.

Bullet Added: Libra Carnival Scales
Bullet Added: Locked Carnival Doors
Slowly but surely, everyone entered the casino to see the grim sight of the astrologer as Akumahebi groaned. "FINALLY! You all are so slow! Whatever… Give them the file tubby." Tenshizo nervously nodded and handed the file to Li-Wei. Without wasting a second, Li-Wei began
CONDUCTORKUMA FILE-
Victim: Ai Fukushima
Talent: Ultimate Astrologer
Time of death: Around 2:30pm
Time of discovery: Around 3:45pm
Location: Casino, Seventh Cart
Cause of death: ?
Li-Wei finished reading the file as something caught the attention of many. And it was Yokona who spoke up about it. "Wait… where the hell is the cause of death!?"
Akumahebi just rolled her eyes. "Figure it out yourselves assholes!" And with that, the snake dragged the elephant away, leaving the train riders on their own.
Bullet Added: Conductorkuma File (Ai)
Shortly after, people started to split up as Wally pondered of where to go next in his investigation when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning, he saw Kana standing there. "…Uhh… Kana?"
The survivor sighed. "…I'll help you investigate this time."
Wally blinked before smiling. "Because we're frien-"
"Because we're both innocent, you dumbass." She cut Wally off as he frowned a bit. But she continued anyways. "You, me and Li-Wei… we're the ones who triggered the body discovery announcement."
Wally nodded as smiled a bit. "Well then… let's get to it shall we?"
With that, the sidekick and the survivor moved over to the body as Li-Wei and Takeshi were looking over it. Stepping closer, Takeshi would look up at the two as Wally spoke up. "So…" Takeshi was silent for a moment as Wally looked concerned. "Hey… You okay?"
The medic would nod before sighing. "S-Sorry. I'm a little out of it… was f-fast asleep before all this. M-Must have been more tired than I-I thought… f-felt like I closed my e-eyes and woke up a f-few hours later…" Slapping his cheeks lightly to wake himself up, he turned back to the body and started to go over his discoveries.
"F-From what I could g-gather… Ai experienced b-blunt force trauma to the head, large p-puncture wounds in her chest and a-arms, a crushed w-wrist with b-broken hand, and b-bruising all over. Other then that, there's j-just tiny nicks and a s-strange cut on the b-bottom of her foot…" He then scratched the back of his head. "W-Well… that's… n-not all though." This raise an eyebrow as Takeshi pointed to the pool below Ai.
"…What the heck?" Wally was confused as below Ai was a pool of thick red and black liquid. The red was obviously blood from… well… the dead astrologer. However, the black liquid combined with the blood was unexpected.
Kana kneeled and poked the liquid before bringing her finger up to her nose. "…What is this?"
Bullet Added: Takeshi's Autopsy
Bullet Added: Pool of Red and Black
Looking down, Wally would try to see if there was anything on her person. After a bit, he would notice something gripped tightly in her unbroken hand. From what it appeared to be, it seemed like some sort of device? It was unclear as from a closer look, it appeared to also have been broken a good bit. Sadly, he can't get more from that.
However, what did catch his eye was Ai's Kuma-Watch. The screen was still intact due to of how sturdy it was. But on the screen read a message "Someone has changed your cipher". There was no explanation about the message, but Wally had an idea of what it could possibly be. Kana would tap him on the shoulder and nod. Seems the cipher role had something to do with this.
Either way, the sidekick and survivor would stand up. Turning to the park ranger, Li-Wei would give a nod as the two nodded back, before heading off to search elsewhere within the casino.
Bullet Added: Broken Device
Bullet Added: Kuma-Watch Message
Bullet Added: Cipher Role
Heading to the other side of the casino, Wally and Kana would find Ember and Kuniyoshi standing in front of the slot machines. Well… Ember standing in front of them. Kuniyoshi was giving the machines a kick. Kana just gave a deadpan stare at the Poker Player. "What are you doing?"
Kuniyoshi stopped as he turned to them. "Well… I figured I'd figure out how these machines worked of course!"
Wally just looked confused for a moment before moving over to the slot machines. "… … … I think I found something."
On the back of the machines was a warning message. "Warning: Jackpot Safety Lock deactivates if disconnected from power. A strong enough strike to machine will cause the jackpot to release"
The others red this as well as Kuniyoshi scoffed and placed his sunglasses on. "Well… I thought the direct approach would have helped more."
Bullet Added: Slot Machines
Rolling their eyes, Wally would turn his attention to a nearby roulette wheel he never noticed. It was a small wheel that had a black and white colour scheme as he approached. Peaking over, Wally would notice sixteen slots that had letters on them in the roulette wheel, but with two slots blocked off. Those blocked off spots were a white spot with the letters S.K and the second one being a black spot with the letters S.G. A roulette ball could be seen in open slots, a white one with the letters K.T on it.
However, Wally didn't look much further as he turned to the poker player and lip-speaker. "So… do you have anything you could share?"
Kuniyoshi sighed and shook his head. "Nope. Was in my room practicing for the rematch against Yokona. So, I've got nothing."
On the other hand, Ember nodded in response. "I did see something. Both Emiko and I say it." The lip-speaker continued. "So, I was actually going to look for you Kana. Was going to offer another cooking lesson but couldn't find you anywhere. As I was in the kitchen, Emiko entered for some water and not long after, the lights went off." She sighed and shuddered a bit. "We stuck next to each other the entire time the power was out. But… at some point, we noticed a strange red light coming down the hallway."
She rubbed her arm a bit. "We stayed away from the doorway and couldn't get a good view, but whatever it was, the light went towards the dorm cart. After a while, the lights came back on… and… well… so came the announcement." Wally nodded while Kana breathed a sigh of relief.
Bullet Added: Roulette Wheel
Bullet Added: Ember's Account
As the two would move to leave, Ember continued. "By the way… Emiko said she needed to talk to you. Said it was important and she'd wait 'there'? Wherever 'there' is…"
Wally thought for a moment before it clicked. "The only thing we would know…"
"Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know." Kana raised a brow but didn't say anything as the two headed off to the next location.
Leaving the casino, the sidekick and survivor found themselves entering the prison cart to find Koharu standing there frustrated while Chizure and Kanade were standing by the one prison cell where the passageway. Wally was going to head over there first when he stopped and looked at the strange box on the ground. "Oh yeah… that's the thing I tripped on."
Kana raised a brow before smirking a bit. "Oh. So that's why you had to catch up. You ate shit."
This caused the sidekick to blush embarrassed. "S-Shut up!"
Moving closer to the box, Wally and Kana took a closer look at the box, they would see a scorpion design and a bunch of strange machinery connected… however, the box seemed to be completely dead. But not only that, the box seemed to be connected to wires going all the way to the security room. "…It's an EMP." This cause the sidekick and survivor to turn their heads to the pink hair sniper as she scowled. "An electro-magnetic pulse. Military grade. A device used to release a pulse that would knock out all electronics in a radius. Probably was connected to the security system to knock out the entire train."
However, the sniper would then start to wobble as she fell forward. Wally reacted quickly and caught her. "Whoa! Koharu! Are you okay!?"
The sniper groaned and pushed herself out of the sidekick's arms before standing up. "I told you before. I'm! Fine! Now fuck off!"
And with that, she stormed out… leaving the sidekick to sigh. "That's- ugh…" Wally wanted to chase after her and try and help, but he couldn't. He couldn't leave the investigation like that. Ai's murder needed to be solved.
He'd turn back to Kana who was holding up the now identified EMP. "It seems to have instructions… like everything else. Really wanted us to know HOW to kill each other…" Shaking her head, she continued. "It says it's called the 'Scorpio EMP'. The pulse is said to knock out all electronics in the cart and carts next to wherever it was."
Wally nodded at the explanation. "So… if it was used in the kitchen, it would knock out that cart plus the dorms and medicine cart?"
Kana nodded in response. "Seems so. Apparently, the pulse is visible for those areas… so people in all three carts would see it happen." Lifting it up once more, Kana pointed to a blank light. "The last two things about it seems to be this light and the timeframe. Green means it's powered up. Red means it's active and needs to be triggered by a detonator or a strong hit. And blank… means it's been used and is dead. As for timeframe, once used it lasts for an hour and a half."
Bullet Added: Scorpio EMP
Bullet Added: Blackout
Placing the EMP back down, the two would move over to the forger and pianist who seemed to be looking at the hidden passageway. Chizure had a steeled look on her face while Kanade looked paled and nervous. Chizure would notice the two approaching and give a weak smile. "Hey…"
Wally returned the smile with his own weak one. "Hey. So… you found the hidden passageway?"
Chizure nodded and looked down at it. "Yeah. So… there was another way to sneak around the carts."
Kanade flinched at that. "W-Why… w-why again!?"
This caused the forger to place a comforting hand on the pianist's back as she looked back at sidekick. "So, you got to the body via this way?"
"Yeah. The carnival cart door was locked. It was by complete accident we found this…" If only it was found sooner…
Bullet Added: Hidden Passageway
Wally looked at Kanade for a moment, seeing her pale and nervous expression. He wanted to ask… but he was worried it wasn't appropriate. "…So, what's up with her?" …But Kana did not have that problem.
Chizure sighed before looking at two. "Well… to be honest… we were in the pub when the lights went out."
This caused Wally to stop for a moment. "You mean… where the first murder happened?"
The forger nodded. "Yes. You see… Kanade wanted to try and gain courage. Wanted to move forward from that awful night." She then sighed. "But it seems that life decided to be cruel…"
Wally nodded in understanding. Kanade wanted to move past the first murder… and unluckily ended up experiencing it during the second murder. "Wait. So, you two were together during the blackout?"
The forger nodded. "That's right. Now… I… doubt we'll be of much help for the rest of the investigation." The sidekick and survivor nodded in understanding. Turning to one another, they both nodded and had the same idea as they went down the passageway, saying goodbye to the forger and pianist.
Along the way, Kana was pondering. "So… we should probably keep track of what everyone was doing during the blackout. We heard the accounts for everyone so far except Yokona, Katashi, and Hastur… plus clarify with Emiko."
Wally nodded at that. "You're right… we should also probably hurry up right? No idea how long it took to start or how much time we have left." The survivor nodded in agreement as the two continued down the passageway.

Exiting the hidden passageway, the two left the jailhouse as they saw Yokona and Hastur standing next to the lizards. Walking up to them, Wally spoke up. "Hey… you guys find anything?"
The cosmicism writer and strategist nodded as Hastur spoke up. "Well, my heroic friend, we found a rather bloody scene."
This cause Wally and Kana's eyes to widen as they hurried over. Looking over, they can see the lizards gathering around the back of the jailhouse around what appeared to be a fancy designed crossbow and a bunch of strange looking arrows, some of the arrows having blood on them and some having black liquid on them.
Yokona nodded with a grin on her face. "Indeed… it seems we found ourselves the murder weapon!" She said that as she pointed to the crossbow and arrows. Suddenly, one of the lizards licked at the blood on one of the arrows. But then, when it touched the arrowhead with its tongue… it flopped to its side, unable to move. This caused Yokona to gain a grin. "Oh ho! A paralyzing effect. I think this getting clearer and clearer."
Wally nodded with that, but a thought entered his mind. "Why does it feel like I've seen those arrows before?"
Bullet Added: Sagittarius Crossbow
Bullet Added: Strange Arrows
Turning away from the pile of lizards and arrows, Wally turned to the strategist and cosmicism writer. "So… were either of you with others during the blackout? What were you doing?"
Hastur stroked his chin and laughed a bit. "Why… I was waiting for you two." He pointed at Wally and Yokona. "After all, we were assisting the strategist in their challenge against Kuniyoshi. And she did tell us we would continue this daily correct."
Yokona nodded at that while Wally looked at them with a deadpan look. "…No one told me that."
Yokona just brushed it off, but one could see slight embarrassment. "Well yeah! We were preparing for another strategy session! So, I had stopped by my room to get the cards when the lights went out. Stayed in there for a while." She then stopped for a moment and tapped her chin. "Though… at one point, there appeared to be a red light entering the dorm cart. I couldn't really see much as I was not risking anything… but I could see it lightly under the crack of my door. It moved away though… so no clue."
Wally nodded and turned to Kana. "So Yokona was in her room and Hastur was in at the pool."
Kana nodded in response… before she stopped. "Wait… why the hell would you be playing cards at the pool?"
Wally just deadpanned shrugged. "No idea."
Yokona scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Because it's an unexpected meeting place for a card game strategy meeting!"

Wally sighed and looked at Kana. "Whatever the case… I'm going to go meet Emiko. Think you can go find Katashi and get his account?"
Kana nodded but groaned. "Leave me to deal with the asshole? Thanksssss…"
Wally looked sheepish at that but headed off… there was a certain location he needed to head to.
Reaching the exercise room, Wally would see the ballet dancer sitting down on a work bench as she looked to him. With a nod from her, he pulled out the remote and press the button, causing the secret room to open and the exercise room door to lock. Entering the secret room, Wally would turn to Emiko. "…Are you okay?"
She would flinch for a moment before sighing. "…No… I feel like…"
"…We could have stopped it?" Emiko turned to Wally as he said that and nodded. They both had similar thoughts on this… Wally shook his head and looked at her. "So, I heard from Ember. You were in the kitchen with her?"
Emiko nodded as she scratched her cheek a bit. "Yeah… I was… practicing my speaking. I'm not used to speaking so much that my throat started to hurt. I went to get a glass of water and met up with Ember when the power went out."
The sidekick nodded as he gather it. "Okay. And then a red light?" With a nod in response, Wally smiled a bit. It matched up.
Bullet Updated: Ember's Account
Looking around the secret room, Emiko and Wally would flip and search for any key words that would help them… when Wally noticed a small sticky note hidden under the desk. On it was numbers. "Hmmmm… hey Emiko? I think I found something." The ballet dancer would stop her search and move over as Wally sat down in front of the computer.

"Project Rebirth… What a terrifying yet ingenious project Ragnarok created. To create a robot of someone who has passed away… and the fact that this isn't even the first one! But the sixth!
While I could look further into the history of this project… I need to see the risks of this 'observer' that the conductor wants. I mean… this is supposed to be a simple group. So why collect this one?
The biggest risk is having their power connection interrupted. The observer has a backup generator for situations where this occurs… however… the observer will fall to following their core programming. A cold-hearted machine who will stop at nothing to achieve the mission. Whatever that mission is? Is whatever they were thinking before connection is lost.
Key indicators of avoiding the individual is a more robotic nature of movement, a robotic echo in their voice, and red glowing eyes indicating loss power connection.
What's terrifying is that to the individual, when they return to normal? No memories of what they did. To act without knowledge… truly terrifying.
I'll have to keep an eye on them."
-Right Hand

The file would end there as the two looked at one another. They still had questions about who this 'Right Hand' was… but for now? They found what they were looking for.

-DING DONG, DING DONG!-
"Investigation time is over you fucks!"
"E-Everyone please g-gather in the big top ten!"
The sidekick and ballet dancer would stop after hearing those words as they turned to one another with a nod. Exiting the secret room and closing it up once more, the two left with new information in their arsenal.
Making their way to the carnival, the sidekick and ballet dancer entered the big top tent as the others filtered in. As they came in, Wally noticed Katashi walking in with Li-Wei, Takeshi and Kana. The survivor would walk up to Wally as he would ask. "So… what was Katashi doing?"
She sighed at that. "He told me jackshit. All he seemed to focus on was his 'own investigation' of the body."
Wally blinked at that and groaned. "Well… hopefully we can figure it out…"
Bullet Updated: Power Outage Accounts
After a bit, Akumahebi and Tenshizo would enter, the snake resting on the elephant's shoulder. Moving over to the front, they would standing there ready when suddenly… "Upupupupupu! I'm back from my retirement… of a few days!" …Conductorkuma appeared behind the other two mascots and jumped in front.
"W-Welcome back!"
"Who fucking cares?"
Conductorkuma just waved the two off as the tent suddenly closed and began to spin. The lights began to glow rapidly, and the tent seemed to feel like it was coming alive until… it stopped… and the one tent entrance opened to reveal the hallway once more.
Approaching the elevator again, the riders would enter and wait patiently as the elevator went down and down.
… Ai Fukushima, the Ultimate Astrologer. She was always so lively and curious as she was the 'Seamstress of the Stars'. She strived to help us out however she could, even with the strange room we found. And yet, her mind was always in the stars… far away and not grounded enough… which ended up with her being on her own when murdered…
This murder mystery may be shrouded by the darkness created from the blackout… but…

"…The stars shall guide me forth!"
…
…
…We'll find your killer Ai. We'll solve the mystery of the cipher and the truth from the shadows. So… watch over us from the stars.

The doors opened to reveal a large courtroom. The walls were covered with stars, strange symbols, chains, and was black and white coloured. A row of casino lights circled the roof of the courtroom and brightened up the whole location as Wally stepped up to his podium. There, he could see Satoru's picture with an X made by two microphones while he also had a small pair of devil horns while Ai's picture had a large bloody star framing her head and an X inside it.
Taking a deep breath, Wally steadied himself… for the battle has begun once more.

13/16 REMAINING
Hello everyone! Void here!
And umm… hi? Man, it's been a while. But to be fair… I've been busy.
See, I've been taking it slow with writing for a while now as trying to force writing while tackling it alongside my job? Caused me to burn out a bit. So, there was a bittttt of a break there.
The second big thing is that I was focusing on figuring out what I wanted to do… which is going to be having me go back to college. So that will be a big thing when September hits.
But overall, I've hit struggles here and there with writing. And it's only recently that I got the bug once more! It might not be the best part but it's still good!
I really want to finish Chapter 2. And truthfully? I think I have the plans for this story sorted out. So, like I said with Rebels, I wanna focus on this story first. I may write for Rebels here or there if I feel like it… but I wanna give the stories justice.
Anyways, while this investigation took a while, I hope you enjoyed the part and can send your murder predictions! I'm curious to see what people came up with.
…
So, this is a big ramble added after the fact… but these next few paragraphs here and these words is going to be a total of 695 words. Why? Because I live and breath shitposts and to think about possibly skipping on 69k words for my story is honestly a little unforgivable. But also, while I'm here, I'll talk about my ideas for this story, Rebels, and the eventual third story and better explain what I mean about what I want to do.
So… Looking over things, I like the concept I'm going with… which is a "land, sky, and sea" concept. The "land" story is Off the Rails where it takes place on a train. Ever traveling and such. It's my 'traditional' Danganronpa story that I'm honestly loving. For those who don't know me… I've tried to write a Danganronpa story, my own, for years! But every time I struggled because I couldn't find the right blend of characters or it just… didn't mesh well. I was lost for years and couldn't figure it out until my friend Ziggymia123 suggested to me "Why don't you try a SYOC story?" Because my biggest issue was making an original cast.
So, I started Off the Rails. I didn't have any concrete ideas or anything at first. It was just… an attempt. But then I got so many applications that it blew my mind! I struggled in the beginning because I was going back and forth with the apps, unsure who to apply. I'll say this… picking a final cast was hard. Some characters barely missed the cut and I felt bad… but as time went on, I found myself enjoying this cast so much! It took nearly a year to finish Chapter 1… and hell… it's taking about another year for Chapter 2. It's crazy to think it all started in May of 2021!
And I think, maybe it was the burnout that created Rebels in the first place… but I don't regret it. Rebels of Paradise is the "sky" story of the trilogy and is by far the grander scale attempt compared to Rails. Not going to lie… the introduction chapters nearly killed me with their magnitude. It was the introduction and Rebels already has close to a third of the text! And Rails is nearing the end of Chapter 2! So grand scale isn't cutting it. It has so many twists and turns that it feels like a mountain compared to the hill that is Rails. Which is kinda why I was needing a break from the story that was supposed to originally be a change of pace from Rails.
So, what is the full plan moving forward? No clue. I'm not even going to think of what the "sea" story would be just yet. I don't WANT to anyways. Right now, I want to focus on at least finishing Chapter 3 before starting Rebels again. Because I want the stories to feel like incredible reads! I really do! To me, these aren't just my stories… it's all the submitters' stories as well. All the encouragement helps keep my energy flowing for these stories! My biggest worries are that… I don't give the characters enough.
I know my writing/speaking style. I like getting to the point. I'm not the biggest fan of unnecessary padding. It just feels wasteful and a pain. So, it leaves me in a weird cycle of "am I liking this writing personally" versus "is this enough writing for the characters". And it's why I'm trying to just… go with what works for me? But still I really hope you're all enjoying these stories.
These stories feel like mini worlds that I've created. It's hard to explain at times and sometimes I wish I was a better writer. I wish I made less grammar errors and I wish I could make the perfect stories. But despite that? You all enjoy the story… You enjoy my writing and all that I do.
And for all that? Thank you.
…Also haha 69k! Nice.
…
But… that's all for now! Until next time! See you all later!
