Chapter 355 The Next Target
The incredible performance of Evan and Okegiga made them the center of attention in the war.
"Look, it's the war god, Okegiga, he's back!"
"It's the monster, wasn't he eliminated by the Forest God?!"
"RUN! We stand no chance against Okegiga whatsoever!"
On the battlefield, the main forces of the Centaurs completely shifted to the offensive, and the initially scattered formations converged.
On the opposite side, the name of Okegiga was whispered in fear by the rebellious Centaurs, who watched him in panic as he crushed the goblin's body beneath his hooves.
Being the mightiest warrior in Centaur history, his long-standing prestige and herculean feats made all Centaurs dread being enemies of Okegiga.
They trembled and recoiled, raising their bows and arrows to aim at Evan and Okegiga.
Almost instantly, the two became the enemy's top priority targets. Piercing arrows poured in from all directions, showering them like a rain of infernal death.
Okegiga ducked like a gust of wind, but there were just too many sharp arrows coming their way.
They stood in the midst of the arrow rain, unable to dodge them at all.
The situation seemed dire, yet all that could be seen on Okegiga's face was a hint of disdain.
"Humph, feeble creatures, what insignificant attacks!"
He let out a mighty War Cry, undaunted, and with the heavy lance in his hand, he lifted the massive troll's body from the ground and fiercely hurled it against countless sharp arrows.
The monster's body bled profusely downwards, in the air, punctured by the sharp arrows.
"Let's advance and let these cowards witness true power!"
Evan heard Okegiga's cry and clung to him, nervously gazing ahead.
Seizing the brief opportunity provided by the troll's body, with his long lance in hand, Okegiga advanced with Evan towards the nearest fortification with an irresistible horror and speed.
Out of fear, the opposing Centaurs fled, and their defenses were compromised.
At that moment, a goblin with a gray and outlandish scarf peeked half his head from the fortifications. He moved his fingers and the fallen arrows rose again.
Under the influence of his magic, numerous arrows, faintly glowing and stained with still-warm blood, were ripped from both the ground and flesh and flew towards them.
"Abominable goblin, cowardly and greedy! You only hide behind with your vile magic!" Okegiga glared resentfully at the goblin hiding behind the fortifications.
He wanted to move forward, but so many magical arrows were coming their way.
Okegiga had to relinquish the advantage he had gained and retreat.
"Leave it to me, I have a plan!" Evan spoke quickly.
Reciting a spell, he used the tip of his wand to shatter some cyan rocks on the ground. In the next moment, huge stones clustered, spinning rapidly in front of Okegiga.
Bang, bang, bang!
The arrows hurtling from the sky visibly damaged the rock barrier, and a large amount of stone fragments and debris flew and scattered.
Despite its precarious state, as Evan's wand-waving frequency increased, the barrier formed by the boulders in front of them grew thicker and never broke.
The sharp arrows created a thunderous sound, digging into the rock wall, sounding chilling.
After the end of this round of arrows, without waiting for the goblin to continue casting spells, Evan flicked his wand to send a few red curses forward, erupting in flames on the ground.
As their opponents scattered against the flames, Evan vigorously waved his right hand, and the rock barrier around them began to twist and deform.
Under the fixed gaze of everyone, a towering Stone Giant swayed and rose to its feet. It made a loud noise and charged towards the fortifications where the goblins were hiding.
"Oh my God, look at that Stone Giant. There's a human wizard in the war!"
"He is a mighty wizard from the castle; Okegiga brought aid!"
The Giant advanced roaring, and the whole earth trembled.
With the tremor, whispers arose on the battlefield, and all the Centaurs halted, gazing in astonishment at the Stone Giant that was demolishing the fortifications in front of the colony.
The goblin in the gray tunic, surprised, was surrounded by the fire summoned by Evan, and was finally cruelly crushed by the Stone Giant.
The Giant trampled him alive, turning him into minced meat, and his red blood soaked the ground beneath his corpse.
The brains of the Centaurs were blank, and before they could react, they heard Okegiga's gruff laughter; his voice was filled with disdain, as if it were from hell.
It seemed they had just realized what had happened. Soon, besides a few foolish trolls still trying to resist, the remaining enemies hastily retreated, abandoning all their defenses and withdrawing back to the colony.
"Well done, human, you are more useful than I thought!" admired Okegiga, not stopping to keep advancing. "We have taken control of the tribal gate. The next target is the Temple of the Moon on the central island. We must get there as soon as possible to prevent the traitors from calling upon The Evil God."
"What are they doing?" Evan asked curiously.
"According to the elder, he received warnings from the stars and the Founders of the castle. The fallen ones hide in the depths of the Temple, using dark magic to summon the evil spirit from the endless void, invoking its name to descend into the world," Okegiga said, "We cannot allow them to succeed, otherwise, all will be lost!"
"Summoning the body of the evil god!?" Evan was astonished, remembering the test Gryffindor had given him. He had to help the Centaur Okegiga reseal the evil god.
"Yes, everyone is insane, deceived, and corrupted by the evil spirit. They believe all their myths!" Okegiga nodded quickly. "All the noble stargazers in the Central Plains of the colony have become their most loyal followers, hoping to use the powerful magic contained in the gem left by the Founder of the castle as energy to invoke the return of the evil god."
Okegiga spoke of the Philosopher's Stone as one of the keys to unlocking the Secret Treasure left by the Four Founders, which held a powerful magic beyond the common people's imagination.
Unexpectedly, the evil god used it as a source of energy for its return.
"What do we need to do?" Evan asked, taking a deep breath.
"Enter the Temple of the Moon, stop the magic that is happening, or destroy the gem left by the Founder of the castle," Okegiga said coldly, shaking his spear vigorously.
Evan furrowed his brow. Okegiga's plan was too simple and straightforward.
He thought it was necessary to first speak with the elder of the Centaurs or capture some high-ranking Centaurs to find out what magic they were using, understand how it worked, and adopt a more specific response strategy.
Perhaps, they could also discover what kind of monster the so-called evil god was. Since the ancient sorcerers summoned it, they must have left a method to control it.
But Okegiga clearly had no intention of doing this. He was a powerful warrior. Magic was never something he considered. He quickly led Evan to the Temple of the Moon.
Evan hesitated, then decided not to stop him.
Although imprudent, in the actual story, Okegiga was clearly successful, preventing the body of the evil god from emerging from the void.
Of course, the result was the division of the tribe and the decline of the power of the Centaurs, and the Philosopher's Stone left by Gryffindor was split into two halves, which was a terrible event.
