Chapter 357 Battling The Dragon

According to Okegiga, this fiery dragon had been dwelling in the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

Evan couldn't help but discreetly swallow his saliva. In the Dark Ages, 800 years ago, were there monsters of this magnitude lurking in the forests surrounding Hogwarts?

He gazed intently at the massive black dragon, pondering how the fallen Centaurs had tamed it. It was truly perplexing!

The shadow of the enormous dragon's body flickered in the air, and Evan had to admit they were minuscule compared to this ferocious-looking dragon.

This black dragon seemed to be a hybrid of the Hebridean Black and Hungarian Horntail. It bore traits of both species.

Its body measured around thirty feet in length. Its black scales were rough and tough, adorned with bronze spikes, featuring a row of deep yet sharp crests on its back and an arrowhead-shaped spike at the tip of its tail.

It flapped its wings and swiftly flew over Evan and Okegiga's heads.

The dragon roared and snorted at the Centaurs behind it, then lunged forward without anyone reacting, spewing flames from its gaping mouth towards a Centaur.

It opened its bloody huge mouth and bit into the struggling Centaur.

The mangled body of the Centaur was flung aside after being chewed. The black dragon landed on the ground. Its weight of several tons made the whole terrain tremble. It stood on its hind legs, neck raised, its mouth fifteen feet above the ground.

With a roar, the Dragon lowered its head and released clouds of mushroom-shaped fire around.

The Centaurs scattered in all directions, their arrows unable to penetrate the dragon's tough scales. It writhed and thrashed its legs wildly, its spiky tail swinging madly on both sides, leaving dozens of holes and cavities in the hard ground.

"We must retreat into the forest, or we will suffer too many losses," said Okegiga angrily, holding the spear in his hand.

In front of them, a large number of fallen Centaurs clustered at the end of the only access to the Temple of the Moon. They seemed to have made a decision to rely on the favorable terrain to cling to the Temple.

As for the outside, they left that to the deranged dragon.

Considering the horror he had just witnessed, Evan wanted to run towards the temple and stop the magic that was about to triumph before the evil god arrived.

But the current situation compelled him to follow the retreating Centaur troops.

He feared the dragon would tear them apart before they entered the temple.

Evan and Okegiga had just moved when the dragon seemed to have them in its sights. It abandoned the pursuit of the Centaurs who had fled to the outskirts and flapped its wings to fly back towards them.

It spewed fire, turning everything into a sea of flames.

The wave of heat advanced with burning golden ripples, hot as torches.

Evan and Okegiga were surrounded in the center of the conflagration and had nowhere to escape. Before them, the fierce dragon opened its enormous mouth, its menacing yellow eyes staring at them. Its black, rough wings flapped with full force as it lunged forward like a fighter jet.

"Curse it!" Okegiga gave a loud cry and launched a fierce attack, without evasion. He rushed towards the dragon hurtling towards them, raising his spear high in his hand.

The sharp and long harpoon gleamed with a pulsating cold light, emitting pressure.

Behind Okegiga, Evan gripped his wand and tensed his body. He watched as the dragon's outline grew clearer. As he gazed at its sharp fangs, his mind went blank.

He took a deep breath, dismissed distracting thoughts, focused his mind completely, aimed at the dragon's terrifying eyes, and waved his wand.

The dragon's eyes were the weakest part of its body, and both sides surged forward. In an instant, Evan's Conjunctivitis Curse reached the dragon, causing it to close its eyes in agony.

The dragon stumbled forward and fell to the ground, rolling in pain, smashing a row of sturdy nearby centaur cabins like toys, shaking the entire area.

Evan was astonished. The power of the Conjunctivitis Curse was not that strong.

The next second, he saw a striking wound on the black dragon.

Okegiga's attack pierced through its rough, tough black scales, stretching from its torso to its left wing. The wound was deep, with bones visible in some places.

Evan seized the opportunity to swiftly move his wand along the wound.

He cast five silver-white spells in succession, striking the dragon's bones forcefully like passing lightning bolts.

With Evan's attack, the dragon roared, and a large amount of dragon's blood spurted out.

It writhed in pain on the ground, madly spewing out blazing flames, with golden flames engulfing the entire area, even causing the hard rocks to melt from the scorching heat.

Under the joint attack of Okegiga and Evan, its left wing was completely destroyed, and even after treatment, this dragon would find it very difficult to fly again.

"Well done, human," Okegiga weakly said. "This fool learned a lesson this time. We must leave now."

In the recent confrontation, Okegiga's right arm was severed by the dragon's fangs, now hanging weakly on the ground.

His body trembled because he had exerted too much force.

Okegiga's power was truly amazing, far beyond the innate limitations of the centaur race. No wonder that even after 800 years, his heroic feats had been passed down by later generations.

Indeed, only the most powerful humans could defeat a dragon. Before this, Evan had never heard of a centaur killing a dragon.

The dragon's scales possessed a strong magical and defensive power. Even with the most powerful magical attacks, let alone physical ones, it was difficult to penetrate them.

Moreover, the long lance in Okegiga's hand was not a magical weapon, but the most common. It relied entirely on his own strength to achieve this effect.

Okegiga led Evan and other centaurs to retreat into the forest outside the colony. Behind them, the frenzied dragon continued to thrash around there.

It destroyed everything it touched. With such a creature stuck there, it would be difficult to reach the Temple of the Moon.

Evan had some concerns and didn't know what to do. Perhaps he could fly on a hippogriff. He mentioned this idea to Okegiga.

"Flying to the Temple of the Moon? Unless you want to be a target in the air!" Okegiga frowned and said, "This idea is not feasible. Besides being an easy target, all flights are prohibited over the temple, where the castle's Founder left a powerful defensive magic."
