Chapter 54
Calixa sighed as she stared at her best friend. Neox was sitting on the floor with pink and red construction paper scattered around him. He was in the process of cutting out a pink heart. "I don't see what the point is. Why make a heart to give, when you don't even have a real one?" Calixa said
"It's traditional," he replied at once without hesitancy.
Calixa sighed, shaking her head at him. She didn't like this holiday very much. Most of the members didn't even take the time to celebrate it, because of the lack of adult girls in the organization. However this year, Roxas, Xero, and Neox were going crazy over Valentines Day that was coming up in a few days. This was due to the fact that they all had that special someone, and they all were planning on going to Taverse Towns annual Valentines Day festival.
Neox glued a pink heart on top of a larger red one, then started digging through his marker box. Getting bored of watching him make the tacky card, Calixa stood up. "I'm gonna get a snack," she told him.
"Sure ok," Neox replied without even looking up.
Calixa sighed, leaving the room, and headed for the kitchen. She was starting to feel left out being the only one out of her group of friends in the organization to not have boyfriend/girlfriend. For the first time ever, though she would deny it if anyone asked, she wished she had a special someone as well. At least someone to go with her to the festival. Neox insisted that she would be ok going without a partner, but it would still be awkward. Between Neox and Xacrrie, Roxas, and Xion, and Bali and Xero, she would feel like a seventh wheel.
In the kitchen she found Roxas and Xero, Xero seemed to be explaining something to the younger boy. Roxas was listening intently, "Just remember that girls like tongue action," Xero was in the process of saying.
"What are you two talking about?" Calixa asked.
"Oh nothing," Roxas replied turning to look at her, face flushing pink. "Xero's just giving me advice."
"On what?"
"On Valentines day," Xero replied. "Nothing you could use considering-"
She was in his face before he finished. "Considering what!" she asked him loudly, and Xero gulped. "Considering what?" she repeated giving him the death glare.
"Well considering that you have no boyfriend."
SLAP!
Calixa slapped him across the face leaving a large red hand print. She wasn't exactly sure why that comment made her so angry, its not like it was a lie. She didn't have a boyfriend. But he didn't have to point it out so bluntly.
"Ow Shela what was that for?" Xero asked rubbing his cheek tenderly.
SLAP!
Xero fell from his chair, as Calixa landed another loud slap across his cheek, then raised her foot up to kick him. The older boy quickly jumped to his feet and ran into a corner. "Look I'm sorry," he said not totally sure what he should be sorry about. Calixa responded by throwing a cup of water at him, and then with a huff she stormed out of the room.
Roxas looked over at Xero with raised eyebrows. "What was that about?"
"That is an extreme version of what is called PMSing."
"What's PMSing?"
"Something you'll certainly need to know about…"
Meanwhile back with Neox, he was boredly listening to Bali. It would have been easier to listen if she spoke normal english. She was giving him warnings. That much was clear. "An remember dat if ya do anythin to hert me sista you'll 'ave me ta deal wit," she said.
"Yeah yeah, I got it, sis…" he said
"Who are ya callin sis?"
Neox just smiled at her before walking away. Bali just shook her head and went in another direction. She bumped into someone and looked up to see that it was Calixa. "Watch where you're going!" Calixa roared, she was obviously in a foul mood.
"What's got ya nickers Ina twist?" Bali asked her.
"Your boyfriend is a jerk!" she spat.
"Oh realla? " Bali asked with a teasing smirk.
"Yeah really!"
"Good den 'e's doin 'is job." She was joking but saw tears in Calixa's eyes. The smirk fell from the older girls face, and her eyebrows furrowed inward with concern. "Ya alrite? " she asked.
Calixa started crying, and Bali gently led her back to the Scottish girls room. It seemed a girl to girl talk was in order. A few hours later, they were sitting on Bali bed with Xacrrie as they listened to Calixa. "...So I just feel so upset because all the other girls have a boy friend except me," she explained with a sniffle. She was very glad Neox wasn't around to see her so vulnerable.
Bali was a bit angry at Xero. Alot angry actually. "Oh... jus wait till I get 'im alon," she fumed.
The door opened and Xero walked in. "Hey shelas, how's it goin? "
He was greeted with three cold stares. The girls each grabbed the nearest item and threw it at the Aussie, who ducked to avoid them. "Hold up there shela's whats got ya bonza's down." He was then hit in the face with an alarm clock, "Crikey mates!"
"Get OUT!" All 3 screamed.
He wisely took the hint and left. Roxas, who had been behind Australian boy, looked at him.
"Don't go in there mate, the girls are in one of there strange moods."
Is this that once a month thing you mentioned?" Roxas asked.
"Probably, girls tend to be on it at the same time." Roxas nodded and the two went off to find Neox. Bali growled at the closed door.
Elsewhere, Neox was in his room, when there was a knock on the door. "It's open!" he called.
Roxas and Xero walked in, "Oh, its you two." he went back to what he was working on.
"Whatcha working on? " Roxas asked walking over to him.
The boy showed them the heart he was working on. "Cute that for Xacrrie? " Xero asked.
Neox nodded with a smiled. "I think she'll love it," Roxas said.
Neox blushed a bit. "What are you two up to? " Neox asked.
"We need to discuss valentines day," Xero answered.
"Oh? " Neox asked curiously.
A few days later, Neox was sitting in his room. Xacrrie walked right in and smiled at him. "Ola," she greeted slipping into her a first language.
"Ola." Neox said in return, knowing what it meant.
"Wats up," she asked him.
"Not much. Happy Valentine's day." he said nervously, glancing at where he hid the gift.
"I thought Valentines day was tomorrow?"
"No, Xac. Its today," Neox said, smiling a bit.
"Oh, happy Valentines day then," she replied smiling back.
"What's up?" he asked, sitting on his bed.
"Jist cam tae see wat ye were up too."
"Nothing really." the boy lied, looking at where he hid his 'heart'.
"Why de ye keep lookin at yer pillow?"
"Huh? No I'm not."
"Ok, well since its valentines day, wiat 'ere. I 'ave something for ye."
"You do?" Neox asked, a bit surprised.
"Yah, jist wait 'ere," she said teleporting away.
Neox did as she said, slightly surprised. She didn't even know Valentine's day was today. He figured that she must have had something ready beforehand. Girls were like that. After a moment she teleported back in with both hands behind her back, obviously hiding something.
This one is pretty short. I almost decided not to post it because there isn't much too it, but then again neither did that beach one. Ironically this one was going to be the start of the story arch that I most remember.
As shown in what little of this chapter there Calixa has been feeling kind of seventh wheelie. So on Valentines Day while all her other friends are doing the boyfriend/girlfriend thing, Calixa takes an extra mission in Land of the Dragons. While she is there she is attacked by a huge monster and saved by a dragon. The dragon turned out to be a boy who can change at will. The boy hadn't been given a name yet.
The two become friends, and Calixa starts choosing missions specifically in Land of the Dragons so she can keep seeing him. She even starts fighting/bribing others to trade missions with her. She eventually starts sneaking off on her days off. Neox obviously begins to get suspicious about not seeing her much anymore. Questioning her gets no results so he finally follows her and discovers the secret relationship. He cautions her about hanging around dragons as they can be dangerous. The two get into a fight over it and stop talking. Out of friendship Neox keeps her secret.
More conflict happens when the boys family finds out about them. They are dragons who can change into humans also. His family also do not approve of their relationship. Sadly I had planned to end this story arch in tragedy. The boy was going to die saving Calixa from his family. Calixa was devastated by the whole ordeal and never quite recovered as she never attempted to find a boyfriend again. Yes I know I'm very mean.
Neox Chan used to always complain how terribly I treated my OC's. Its one of the things never we agreed on and sometimes even argued about. He always preferred stories with fun and comedy in them while I preferred drama and angst. I guess we balanced each other out.
