Luna glared after the fleeing bird and priest. She didn't kill him with Chopper here but she injured him enough to not be a problem later. She turned back to the doctor as he finished treating Gan Fall.
"Is he stable?"
The reindeer looked up at the woman, "yes, though I'm still worried if he'll wake up."
"Let me treat you now."
Chopper jumped up waving his hooves at the woman, "no, no! I'm fine you should be resting!"
Luna ignored him resting her hand on his head. Chopper stopped struggling when water gathered around her hand and started to glow. His body felt a cooling wave rush over him, as well as feeling like he was in the ocean. Chopper's body began to glow like her hand as his burns started to heal. Once Luna removed her hand, Chopper fell into a sitting position, panting slightly.
"I apologize, my healing uses water and thus has the same effects as the ocean to devil fruit users."
Chopper let out a sigh as he felt were his burns were, "no it's fine. The burns are completely healed!" Chopper jumped back up as he stared up at her in amazement.
"That's amazing, Luna! The side effects are minor compared to the outcome!"
Luna smiled at his excitement as a bead of sweat ran down her cheek, "I'm glad you feel better, doctor. Though I think I may have overdid it fighting that priest."
As Luna finished she collapsed onto her knees. Chopper jumped as he ran over to her. "Ahh! What can I do to help?!"
Luna closed her eyes as she inhaled, "maybe some water. I am feeling thirsty."
"Right! I'll go get it now!" Chopper rushed to the kitchen. As he disappeared Luna heard a flapping, looking up she saw the enlarged South Birds. A tired smile crossed her face, "hey he's gonna be okay. Chopper's the best, I promise he'll be fine."
The smaller South Bird appeared and flew down to her, landing comfortably on her shoulder. Chopper returned with a glass of water, "ah! Whoa I didn't know South Birds could get that big!?"
"Yes, the forbidden Upper Yard is actually the other half of Jaya. Remember Montblac's house seemed to be missing half, this is the part of the island the other half was on." Luna explained before downing the water.
"That's amazing!"
"The others should be returning soon," Luna stood as the South Bird landed on the railing. Her eyes moved to the larger South Birds. "Think you can convince your friends to retrieve our mast?" She asked him pointing to the floating mast in the water.
The South Bird turned to his larger counterparts and with some short calls two of the bigger ones flew down and grabbed the mast. Flying back up they set it on the altar.
Chopper smiled happily, "haha, thank you!"
Zoro, Nami, and Robin returned and took notice to the damage the Merry sustained during the fight. Suddenly Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp dropped in from the waterfall.
Once Usopp boarded the ship he took notice of the missing mast, Chopper tried to explain when Luna walked up beside him.
"Usopp, Chopper did want he needed to extinguish the fire. It was either throw it into the water or lose it entirely."
Usopp turned to look at the pair, "yeah well are you gonna be okay or what?"
Chopper nervously nodded, Usopp turned with a huff, "you must have been scared fighting that guy by yourself." He gave Chopper a smile, "it's a good thing he set the mast on fire instead of you right? Hahaha, we can figure out the details on the ship later."
Usopp walked away, while Chopper's eyes filled with tears, he rushed over to the side of the Merry. "I promised to become a more dependable man, starting right now."
Luffy walked over to Luna while watching Chopper, "Chopper stop yelling at the altar and tell me something. How did you get rid of that priest?"
Chopper stopped his declaration, turning to Luffy. "I blew the whistle the sky knight gave us, before he showed up Luna came out from resting and through the priest off the Merry. Then the sky knight came to rescue us."
"Oh, well where is he? I don't see him."
After Luna and Chopper explained what happened during the attack they took the others to see the injured sky knight. Luffy looked over the man carefully before bending down to him.
"He's willing to sacrifice this much for us, he even gave us that whistle for free."
"It seemed the sky knight had a past with the priest. They fought like they knew each other." Luna added.
"I've got a bunch of questions for him, but I guess I'll wait till he wakes up." Sanji spoke before turning to Pierre, "we own you a thanks as well."
As Luffy played with Gan Fall's beard, Sanji puffed out smoke, "the Going Merry is trashed and it's gonna be dark soon. So there's no chance we're making it back to Angel Beach until tomorrow." Walking out of the kitchen he spoke loud enough for the others to hear, "we should hop over to land and make camp on shore for the night."
Luffy followed after him, "why there?"
Usopp answered, "because if we stay here and someone attacks us. The first one taking a beating will be our ship, use your head Luffy."
Luffy was ecstatic to be going camping, "CAMPING!"
Usopp yelled at the boy, "this isn't a party! We're in enemy territory! NOW CALM DOWN!"
"Not a party got it." Luffy moved to look at all the sky sharks he took out, "hey Usopp is a BBQ a party?"
Luffy sat next to the fire eating the sky shark Sanji finished cooking. Everyone relaxed near by, "Sky sharks are tasty!"
"You'd eat dirt if we tell you it's tasty," Nami quipped. Luna called over to the girl while she relaxed near Zoro with a large jug of water. "Don't give him ideas. It took so long getting him to stop that as a kid."
Usopp called everyone attention to get reports on what the different groups found. Sanji explained the 'Ordel' they went through. Chopper explained the priest he fought before Luna and sky knight jumped into the fray. Nami disclosed finding that this was indeed Jaya, shot up into the sky like themselves.
"Excellent work! Based on your information we've learned that the priest can predict our moves through something they call 'Mantra.' But also we've learned that the city of gold is on this island!"
"WHOA!" Luffy yelled surprised angering Nami. Zoro asked off handed, "what's all this Mantra business?"
Sanji grinding something for Chopper, "must be a sixth sense you get up here."
Luna cut in, "it's not Mantra, it's just what they call it up here. On the blue sea it's referred to as Haki."
Nami looked shocked, "wait isn't that what you explained to Vivi back before Chopper's island? I thought that only sensed people."
Luna sat up more, "I'm sorry it's my fault. I was planning on starting training everyone on Haki, but I waited too long. I guess now is better than any, Haki has three parts." Luna held up a finger for each, "one Observation, two Armament, and the third is rare to even those who use haki, called Conqueror's Haki."
Everyone was listening intently, "what the Skypiean's call Mantra is Observation Haki. It essentially allows the user to gain a 'sixth sense' to sense the presence, as I've shown, strength, and emotion of others. It can even be trained to allow small glimpses into the future of a targets actions. Which sounds like the priest and I'm sure this 'god' uses."
"So how do we work around it?" Zoro asked. Luna shrugged, "there's no real way around it per say. You just have to be better."
"BE BETTER?!" Nami yelled at Luna. The woman turned to her, "calm down. We can start training after this, I've already assessed which Haki would work for whom."
"You have?!" Usopp questioned. Luna nodded, "of course. Luffy and Sanji show promise with both observation and armament. Zoro already has a basic understanding of observation from his swordsmanship." Zoro smirked over at Sanji. "Plus several swordsmen are able to master armament. Usopp," the sharp shooter sat up straight, "your father is a master of observation haki. So I won't expect anything less from you."
The boy sweated as he laughed, "OF COURSE! I'VE ALREADY MASTERED OBSERVATION HAKI!"
Luna gave him a dead pan look, "stop lying this is serious. It can be the only thing saving you from life or death." He gulped but nodded.
Nami gained the woman's attention, "what about Robin, me, or Chopper?"
Luna sported a thoughtful look, "well Chopper already has a version of haki with his animal instinct, I'm unsure anything would come from him learning observation. Robin maybe has a basic understanding from her life with Crocodile."
Chopper finished giving Gan Fall his medicine, "I'm okay with either way you think Luna."
Robin cut in, "I'm quite fine without."
Luna nodded turning back to Nami, "and you Nami, paired with your weather predicting ability maybe observation but that's only if you want to try training."
"What's this training intel?" Zoro asked always up for training.
"Well like I said Zoro you already have a basic foundation for observation. So continue like you do would help, maybe pairing you with Sanji to help finetune his. But Luffy..." her eyes fell on the boy. "He's always been hard headed, his training will be the worse."
"Worse?" Usopp gulped, Luna turned to the boy. "Don't worry Usopp I just know for Luffy it will need to be more hands on training. You may need some of that but I think with it being in your blood you'll have no issue."
Luffy was happily eating completely unaware of what was coming his way. Usopp could only sweat drop, while Sanji jumped up.
"Why do I have to work with Moss head?!"
"What was that, pervy cook?!"
"Stop! Both of you! Sanji even though you may not like it, Zoro has an advantage over you with his training as a swordsman."
"What about the other two Haki, Luna?" Chopper asked interrupting the fight.
"Right, Armament..." Luna refocused taking a sip of water. "Armament allows the user to use their own spiritual energy to create a piece of armor around themselves. It's incredible for offense and defense. It also allows you to harm Logia users."
That caught Luffy's attention, "wait, you mean like Smokey and Ace?"
The woman nodded, "it's a skillful tactic that many Marines learn."
"And this Conqueror's Haki?" Zoro questioned.
"The rarest Haki, even I will never unlock it. It's a one in a million ability. Conqueror's haki is all about the person's will power, no training will awaken it. It's said that ones who have it, has qualities of a king." She turned towards Luffy, "remember when Shanks saved you?"
Luffy swallowed his meat, "yeah he scared off that sea king."
Luna shock her head, "not scared off... he exuded his Conqueror's Haki. His will over powered the sea king's own."
"Whoa really?" Chopper asked amazed, then turned towards Luna. "But Luna you said you didn't have it?"
Luna blinked confused, "yeah I don't."
Chopper continued, "but when you came out to stop the priest... the power you exude was terrifying."
Luna's face changed to understanding before crouching down to the doctor. "No Chopper that wasn't Conqueror's Haki. I was furious that you and Merry got hurt when I should have stepped in earlier."
Usopp and Nami stared at the woman in shock and horror. "Scary."
After Luna's explanation of what they were really dealing with and convincing them they wouldn't have enough time to train currently, it was decided they would do what pirates do and go after treasure.
Chopper and Zoro went foraging, while Sanji started cooking. Luffy was currently staring down the boiling pot for clean water, groaning the entire time.
"Hey no one said you had to watch the boiling water. You were only told to fill the canteens with water from the distillery. We all need clean water for tomorrow and Chopper found water helps with Luna's sickness. So while we're up here she'll need lots of water."
Luna called over from her spot watching Gan Fall, "sorry Lu! I've never been this high before."
Chopper and Zoro returned with a bounty of food, Sanji pointed to the pot he was using for the stew. To which Nami wasn't happy, Robin returned with a large salt crystal that Nami mistook for a gem.
After Chopper took out what he needed for medicine, Sanji called Zoro over to help heat up a large stone for the stew. Luffy earned a kick to the head by Sanji when he tried to open the pot.
"Ugh Sanji I'm hungry!" Luffy whined, earning remarks from the others. Luna walked over after Chopper relieved her, grabbing the boys cheeks she stretched them.
"Luffy remember what I said about messing with a cook's tools."
The boy thought trying to remember, Luna stretched his cheeks out emphasizing every word.
"Do.Not.Touch.A.Cook's.Tools.When.They.Are.Working!"
The boy cried out apologizing the entire time before Luna released him, turning to Sanji. "Sorry Sanji he used to do this all the time when we were kids. I thought I broke him of this habit."
Sanji happily answered, "no, it's fine Luna-swan."
Luna noticed Zoro walking off to where Usopp was, she quickly followed after. After convincing Usopp not to swim across the shark infested sea, Luna called out to him.
"Zoro, I need to talk to you." The swordsman turned to the woman. Luna jumped down to join him after Usopp fully went back to camp.
"I need you to promise me something," Zoro raised his eyebrow in response. "If I get hit by an attack from this 'god' you have to ensure no one touches me. Luffy is the only exception."
"What if Luffy's not around?"
A grim look crossed her features, "then I need you to do something no questions asked."
"And you're sure it'll work?" Zoro questioned as they walked back to the others.
"I'm unsure but it will be the best way to keep everyone safe from me. I'm the perfect conductor for his devil fruit." Luna laughed softly to herself. "Go figure Luffy is his best counter while I'm his best amplifier."
Zoro sweat dropped at the woman as they entered the camp. Chopper was helping Sanji pass out the food when Nami called out to everyone. Explain about Nolan's journal before Luffy and Sanji interrupted. Luna sipped on her soup listing to her crewmates discuss the Upper Yard and how it was Jaya previously. It was then revealed the Gan Fall was the first God.
Luna moved to sit next to the ex-god knowing he was awake listening to everything, while Nami showed off the map and hinted where the gold was. It wasn't long before the camping party began and the wolves joined in the party. Luna sat next to Zoro and Robin when Gan Fall joined.
Usopp left the camp to use the bathroom when he heard a hammer. Walking over to where the ship was he saw what looked to be a person on the ship. He's scream was ear piercing as he passed out. Zoro came out of the woods searching for him, when no reply came the swordsman pulled him back. Luna sighed as she turned back to the Merry, "well Merry I think you may have scared him. Glad you're safe." With that the woman disappeared back into camp.
