Epona got them all the way to the main entrance of the castle, leaving only the walk into the room the Calamity resided in. Link helped her down, his brows knitted together in concern. She wore a similar expression, staring at the doors to the Sanctum. Their clasped hands reflected the intensity of their feelings, neither willing to release their desperate grip on the other in fear of what was to come. Link's right hand grasped the master sword's hilt tightly, totally unaware of the unusual glow encasing the blade.
Link, intent on being rid of the beast, took a tentative step forward, confused when a bright green flash appeared before him.
"Link, Zelda." They heard Mipha clear as day, calling out to them. "My life may have ended tragically, but I know you two will prevail, please use my power to aid you in this battle."
Link and Zelda looked around for the Zora champion but found nothing. Her spirit must have reached them somehow.
"Count me in too, show Ganon who's boss, little guy! You too, Princess!" Daruk's voice boomed.
"I have my doubts, but I'll let you borrow my skills this time, don't screw it up." Revali's sneer was audible through his words.
"And, of course, I will lend you my power as well, young knight. You two will best the calamity, no doubt, go on!" Urbosa's voice joined the mix.
Link looked to Zelda in utter shock. The champions they thought they had lost would be here for them, helping them through the battle, they would not be alone. Together they smiled, acknowledging the four champions with a grateful nod.
"Little bird." Urbosa's figure materialized in front of them, misty and flickering, but there nonetheless. "I'm sorry I had to go so soon, but I trust you to go on with your life. You have Link, and Link has you. Stick together, you two." Her strong hand cupped Zelda's cheek as she spoke, wiping away the tears that poured down the Princess's face.
One by one, the champions materialized before them, ready to hand over their powers. Mipha gave him her grace, allowing him to rejuvenate himself to his full health and vitality. Daruk gave his protection, allowing them to summon an impenetrable shield. Revali gave his beloved technique, his Gale, over begrudgingly. Link smiled knowingly as Revali turned to go, sending him off with a confident nod. Urbosa was last, allowing to command her fury, a force to be reckoned with indeed.
With the powers received, they stood alone once more, but not truly. The souls of the champions could be felt within, and that was all they needed. Together, hand in hand, they rushed into the Sanctum, prepared to eliminate the Calamity once and for all.
A disgusting-looking sac awaited, its lumpy form splattered all across the ceiling of the Sanctum. Link yanked the Princess behind him abruptly, holding up his sword readily. The sac pulsed and writhed, making them both feel ill just watching. Finally, it broke free, crashing down onto the floor below.
The stone floor cracked and crumbled, Link barely had enough time to hold onto the Princess as they tumbled down into the chasm below. With a call for Daruk's protection, they landed safely, though shaken, on the ground below.
Calamity Ganon was truly horrifying. The monstrous abomination before them was somewhere between a spider and a demon, and Link was sure it would haunt his nightmares for years. Its body was made up entirely of malice, and it reeked of evil. Each one of its grotesque-looking limbs had a weapon attached. Link hopped out of the way of the first slash, gritting his teeth as the rush of air sent him flying back.
He pulled Zelda along once again, guiding her out of the path of any of the Calamity's attacks. She cried out with each new version of his onslaught, and Link knew he couldn't keep her by his side for this battle. His eyes scanned the room. Debris was scattered everywhere, making the terrain rocky and uneven, he knew this would be to his advantage, and to Zelda's as well. She could easily hide behind some of this rubble until it was time for her to seal him away for good.
He left the Princess as far away from the Calamity as possible, dashing to the other side of the room to distract it as she carefully hid herself from view. Swing after swing he dodged, using his supercharged master sword to inflict as much damage as possible. Whatever blessing the Goddess bestowed upon him, leaving him with this sword, he was grateful. Each attack left the beast screaming in pain, though not as much as Link thought it might deserve. The Calamity was strong, but Link was determined. He managed to anger the beast with his triumphs, he knew it would switch tactics soon enough. Zelda sent out small bursts of light every once and awhile, trying to maintain her energy for the sealing. To pass the time, she cheered for Link, watching anxiously as he dodged and weaved expertly, slashing Ganon at every opportunity.
Fully enraged by this point, the Calamity reared up on its legs and climbed onto the walls. Link fought the urge to hurl as it roared from its perch. The thing was truly vile-looking, and Link had seen and fought every monster to exist. He evaded the newest form of attack, a much stronger laser, reminiscent of the guardians. A thought came to mind, he signaled over to the Princess.
She saw him immediately, understanding his intent. Carefully, she aimed a beam of light at the Calamity's head. Just before it released its shot at Link, she released hers, causing it to lose grip and crash onto the floor below. Link sped toward it, charging up Urbosa's Fury as he ran. A powerful arc of his blade called lightning and thunder down, striking the beast with incredible force. He grimaced as it writhed in pain, charging up another attack. The beast was almost dead, he could tell. His movements became slower, less calculated. It wasn't long before Zelda shot him off the wall once more.
Link watched him hit the ground, feeling as though time had slowed once more. In that moment, he knew it was time. Bracing himself, he called upon the Goddess to grant him success in his final attack. He released a breath, his eyes trained on the Calamity before him. With a powerful yell, he jumped, using Revali's Gale to boost him as high as he could go. He thrust his sword down, prepared to stab right through Ganon's hideous, villainous head. Air rushed past him faster and faster as he fell, he saw the sword glow even brighter, prepared to banish the beast for good. He raised his arms high and brought the sword down with as much strength as he could muster, knowing the blade glowed with light so pure it nearly blinded even him.
The master sword pierced through effortlessly, and a pained cry erupted from the Calamity. Link tore straight down, spitting the beast's head in half. Zelda ran up behind him as he stepped back, ready for her ultimate task. He felt her press a hand to his chest, pushing him behind her for once. He saw her hand raise, the mark of the Triforce glowing brilliantly as she called upon Hylia's ancient sealing powers. He grasped her other hand as Calamity Ganon writhed in the holy light, his and the champions' energy flowed through her as well, multiplying her power ten-fold. Soon, the whole castle was engulfed by her light, and the Calamity was no more.
