That next morning would come. Miho and the crew were finished loading up and ready for battle. The students were waiting around thinking there was going to be something to do regarding what was going to happen. Miho walked up to all of the students of the combined groups to give one last speech before the last battle was going to begin.
"Students! We have come so far with how we have conducted ourselves. Kay is in tatters and it is only a matter of time before drive her cursed horde out of the school that the students have been calling home for so long. We will defend our homes, our friends and our lives! One last battle is needed if we are to drive her out of the school and keep ourselves safe! Ooarai has your back as well as the students from other schools who have decided to volunteer the task and the boys who had given their service to make sure that we are able to deliver the blow to knock her out. Let's get this last mission done and Kay out of here!" Miho called out as the students cheered. Ayami nodded as she seemed to like it. Miho hopped down to see the Saunders defectors nod with approval as Miho began to climb onto the Panzer 4.
"How are you feeling today Miho?" Hana asked as she loaded a shell into the breach.
"Confident." Miho replied. The students were also hopping into their tanks as the last battle was about to begin. They were now ready. "All tanks ready to move out and drive the enemy from the soil. Panzer Vor!" The tanks began to roll forward as they were all stocked with students. Many of them took positions within the tanks and filled out the ranks of said tanks that were normally vacant. For Miho. This was one more time she needed to face Kay.
Kay meanwhile was preparing for her last battle with Alisa looking off in the distance.
"Remember, you are coming with us with the Sherman group as I want to hit them with a decoy and you come in to destroy them. We should be able to get the ball in our hands once more." Kay explained that she was attacking in two groups. One was going to distract the combined team while the other struck them from the flanks thinking this was where the weak tanks were. Alisa meanwhile was waiting, She had a few dozen girls with her that would act as the decoy force. They were waiting idly, nodding along with approval. Alisa knew that she and these students weren't going to be taking part in this operation. They had a much more complex plan in mind.
"Okay we'll come along, give us a few minutes to prepare." Alisa told Kay that she was going to file into her position. Alisa was most likely using this as a lie to cover her true plan. Alisa's true plan was to head over to Saunders, coup Kay out of power and use her influence to establish herself as a temporary leader. What came after this was to make peace with all of the schools and maybe change Saunders into another image.
"Okay Alisa." Kay explained. Kay had fallen into Alisa's trap. Now Kay's tanks were leaving and were on the move. Within a few minutes, the last tank left the area and headed off into the wilderness. For Alisa this is what she wanted.
"Okay, let's get ourselves going as we have to get ourselves going. We got to get rid of Kay and convince the population that enough was enough. Maybe it will end the cycle the school goes through every summer since she came here. Once she's gone, we can finally begin healing this school's wounds." Alisa explained that it was now or never to achieve their goals if they were to finally free the school from the grasp of their leader. If there was one thing Alisa was hoping from this coup she was risking, it was peace between the schools. The students nodded as they prepared to leave. Alisa turned on the radio as she was going to use this to trick Kay with the info that she was going to follow her. "Okay Kay we're moving out behind you." Alisa told Kay that her tank was following behind their leader and was going to the designated zone.
"Good." Kay replied. Alisa nodded before she headed off of her tank and headed to her group.
"Now's our chance." Alisa explained before she got up and headed off with her group to take over Saunders and end the nightmare. The students loaded onto the helicopter and flew off to Saunders.
Miho was looking around with her tank as she was going to hit the main force hard. She had a plan in mind.
"Okay, our tanks will hit the center while the light tanks flank around and surround the enemy. It's the plan of trapping the enemy within our grasp." Miho explained to the groups.
"Sure thing. We have Naomi and the Shermans in case things get hairy. We should be good." Trout explained that they had what they needed.
"Good, we should be able to flank around like the cats we are." Ritsu explained from her tank.
"Okay, here comes Kay." Miho explained to the group. Kay's tanks were only five. She must've been waiting on the decoy forces but for her, they wasn't going to get that wish.
"Five more coming up on the left." Ritsu told Miho.
"Fire away my warriors." Ayami gave the order. The tanks began to open fire. They were riddled with shots as they seemed to be coming from everywhere.
"Where are they coming from?" Kay asked. Yukari from the Panzer 4 pulled the trigger as the tank fired, the shot connecting to the turret ring of the Saunders tank. The tank spluttered before the white flag popped up. Naomi's tank fired as another Sherman was taken out. The Shermans getting harassed by Ayami began to pull back to reinforce Kay.
"She can't hold. Attack!" Nina called out, The light tanks began to move out but they were going straight for where the extra tanks were located. They thought if they captured the base, they could trap and cut off Kay's supplies. For Nina, this was the sound plan while Miho and the others had Kay pinned down. Kay wasn't having any fun as her tanks were being assaulted from all sides.
"Alisa? Alisa are you there?" Kay asked Alisa for backup. All there was in reply was silence. "Alisa you better not be playing with me." Kay spoke into the radio. There was still nothing. Alisa and her group's tanks were empty as they had just deserted Kay. This was to mostly trick Kay that they were following in behind her. "Drats! She must've left!" Kay shouted. Miho fired at Kay's tank and seemed to knock it out. Kay got out of the tank and ran off. The other tanks followed but for Kay, there had to be a way out. Kay found it as she accidentally stepped into the water and was instantly taken in, the creek seemed to have brought her into the water system of the ship. Kay began to slide down the pipes as if she was part of the river. It didn't take long for Kay to pull herself out of the river, soaking wet but mostly unharmed. "I better find a way out of here!" Kay shouted.
Nina and the Cedar Lake students had taken the light tanks and headed over to where the starting area was. For them, they had decided to ditch the combat and wanted to raid the camp. Nina looked around and spotted the intact shermans sitting there… abandoned. No one was in sight.
"Miho, we found the other half of the enemy and their equipment but it sits there as if no one is there. We're looking around to see nobody is there. We don't know what happened to them. They just got up and left." Nina explained to Miho that there was nothing, no one to fight but to them, this made their job a whole lot easier.
"That's strange but keep an eye out on the Sensha-Do site, we might know what happened to them if what you're saying is true." Miho explained to Nina. Nina gave a nod as the students set up the perimeter to see where the Saunders students had gone off to. Miho arrived after defeating the ten or so tanks that were there. She rolled up to the edge of the school ship where she had boarded when they first came to this school. All they found was a completely deserted camp and all the tanks Nina took with her were still in the perimeter, waiting.
"So they aren't showing up?" Ayami asked if this was going to be the case.
"Most likely, they just got up and left without saying a word. I wonder where they ran off to." Miho asked herself. Naomi had gotten out of her tank before walking over with her phone in her hands.
"Miho, I think I know the answer to your question." Naomi explained to Miho. She clicked on the headline when it came to what was happening and Miho decided to take a look, on the headline it read thus: Alisa staged a coup against Kay and has kicked Kay out of Saunders. American businesses are being raided and its businessmen no longer welcomed. Miho figured out what happened. Alisa left for Saunders to put herself in charge of the school and decided to topple Kay.
"Why though. If she's toppling Kay, we need an answer before we do anything." Miho seemed to be curious about this action and course of events. Naomi continued to read.
"I think Alisa says she's open for peace terms with the other schools." Naomi explained. Miho remained surprised. Kay would never ask for peace, fighting on until the school could do no more.
"I guess without Kay, the school has finally given up. If Alisa is asking for peace. We should figure out what to do with it." Miho explained. Naomi nodded. Ayami walked over and she began to speak.
"The school ship is going to be pulling into port later today with the news. I managed to contact your friend Fireheart. They said they were willing to let you and the others go home."
"Go home, I say that you are welcome for that. Thank you Bluestar." Miho told Ayami that heading back to Ooarai after a good amount of time at this school was welcomed. She would be celebrating her summer after all. The Ooarai students gathered when they heard the news. Even Azusa would be surprised.
"Going home? It seems I didn't get to know you that well." Azusa explained.
"Well… I guess we can say we can have our feral girls meet civilization. We're content with our lives but curiosity makes us wonder if there is anything outside of the forest?" Ayami explained. The Cedar Lake School ship pulled into Hokkaido port with Ooarai's School ship.
"Well is this goodbye?" Miho the Cedar Lake students that the Ooarai students were finally going home. Ritsu walked over and decided to hug her friend.
"It is goodbye. But I look forward to you visiting us if we want to have another adventure. Adventures and the journey are welcomed and a warrior is always looking forward when its friends come by to say hello. We will miss you and the Ooarai students Miho." Ritsu explained while holding Miho with her hands. Ayami walked over and placed a hand on Miho.
"Thank you for everything you have done. We wouldn't know what we could have done without you." Ayami explained. Dalmatia and Jouko were waiting around as they seemed to be securing the loot.
"Well we can say we'll hold the tanks for now until Alisa decides that she wants them back." Jouko began with a smile on her face. Dalmatia nodded with agreement.
"I agree. We can study them and learn from them. We can see what Jatkosota could do to improve itself." Dalmatia replied. She wanted to see what she could learn from the tanks.
Miho and the others were preparing to leave. Jake, Tanya and Kimberly were waiting around before they approached Miho. They had a simple request for her.
"Can we come with you, we don't know where our medicine lady has gone off to?" Tanya asked about Stephanie. Was this going to be their visit to see where their friend had gone off to.
"Sure you can. We can track her down and ask her about her condition and if she could go home with you or not." Miho explained that the condition of their friend was important if she was going to return.
"All right. We'll try to be back with Stephanie whenever we can." Tanya told Ayami as she and the few others headed off and below decks to transfer school ships now that they were pulling into port.
"Take care." Ayami explained to Tanya and Kimberly. The students that had volunteered their services to Cedar Lake were now heading back to their schools.
Miho took Jake, Tanya and Kimberly to Ooarai when their ships docked in port. It wasn't going to be long before the other schools were going to pull in and take their volunteers back as this was going to be a bit easier to pull off rather than just flying them in. Miho was very excited to be back and she was taking her new friends on a tour around the ship.
"So Cedar Lake is docking to pick up important supplies from the mainland that it couldn't get itself. With this we can safely say that the future looks bright. We hope we can use our fame to get friendly relationships with the other schools. Maybe Saunders will learn the error of their ways and change for the better." Tanya explained that this ship couldn't get everything and was going to stay in port to get supplies that it needed. Miho nodded with the fact that she got it. She continued to walk along as Jake looked around at the architecture.
"I must say that in all of the school ships I have visited, you seem to have taken up support if this was going to be the case. Some of us are just happy to be back home. Rabbit team I can say for certain." Miho explained that the students were more or less happy to be in their old schools. "I think we will be more than happy to reach out to you in the future regarding the future of where we will head. If this is attempted, we can have happy relationships between all of us. Is Ayami planning on letting more students into the school now that it is gaining fame?"
"Bluestar says no, it's the fact that she still wants the school to stay empty as those that she says she wants to let in will be under a strict test to see what is wrong and thinking that it would be best to only accept a few new students at a time." Stephanie explained. Miho walked over as she spotted Stephanie. Stephanie's neck was patched together with a wound dressing.
"Stephanie. You're still here." Miho called out. She walked over to her friend before giving her a hug. Stephanie hugged back but she decided to speak to Miho.
"Be careful with my neck, the Ooarai doctors stitched it together and it is healing. It was a pretty bad slice from Alisa who did it and I would have certainly not made it but without Rabbit team who contacted a medical helicopter, I was certain to have made it." Stephanie explained to Miho how she was able to survive.
"I was made a warrior for my actions on rescuing the first years and we have driven Saunders from the school. That I am happy about. And the crazy part is that most of Saunders has turned on Kay. No one was able to support her. The student that attacked you had also kicked Kay out. I am asking myself about the sudden change of heart by her own actions." Miho explained what happened between her being evacuated from the school and what was going on now.
"You had it in you. You are the fire that saved our school. I was walking about the place wondering when I will get back to Cedar Lake and it looks like that time has come. My doctor says I should take a look around Ooarai before returning back to my old school to get to know the people more if they are to help us out." Stephanie explained to Miho about her visit to Ooarai and what exactly was going on.
"I guess those spirits were right." Azusa explained. "Miho definitely did save you. And I thought death was around the corner."
"You can be right about that. I remember you bringing that up when we first met and I decided to listen to your heart to see if everything was all right. It was but the concept of dying from your school has me thinking. If we did, would we be remembered? I hope your legacy lives on with the students that will come, Miho and Azusa." Stephanie explained to Miho and Azusa.
"In all honesty, we seem to be more than grateful for those words. It wasn't easy to pull ourselves out of a hole but we now have everyone's attention, good or bad." Miho explained to Stephanie. Stephanie seemed to smile in approval of what Miho had said.
"I know. The journey even for a warrior of fire is far from over. I will see your trial continue." Stephanie explained that Miho, despite earning her name from Ayami had more to go for her journey.
"Want to spend the night with all of us and we'll discuss more?"Miho asked Stephanie if she would want to talk more about this conversation and any other topics she wanted to bring up.
"Yes please." Stephanie replied in a rather soft manner. Miho and Stephanie walked off; they were going to have a lot to speak about when it came to this type of philosophy.
Alisa meanwhile had cemented her role in Saunders as a temporary stabilizing force and was ready to give a speech for her fellow students.
"Students of Saunders, a monumental step has been taken in the right direction, we have gotten rid of Kay, and we have taken over. I do not plan on holding power for very long, but I have a message for all friends and enemies of Saunders. Let us put down our guns and come out of our trenches to see who you truly are. We plan on making Saunders a fairer and much more disciplined school with the goals of diplomacy over bloodshed. We hope to not create anymore wars between the schools for our own profits. We don't want to rob schools of their own futures and the ability of doing the right thing collectively. I now stand under the golden sun that for so long has been hidden under the black clouds of a thunderstorm that rages all over the school. It seems to me that with this takeover, I want to fix the damage that has been caused by my predecessor. And I stand by my side with my friend from Pravda, Nina." Alisa started the speech off saying that she was tired of the school going in the wrong direction for some time now and with a change of heart, she was ready to start anew. Helmet-Chan and Naomi gave a thumbs up with approval. They seem to agree with Alisa's statement. "I want to resolve our terrible and unfortunate misunderstandings over the past three years and our war with each other is over." Alisa handed the microphone over to Nina who was ready to make her part of the speech.
"This is Nina from Pravda girl's high school." Nina began as cameras went off in her face and Alisa's. "Attention all students from all schools and the warriors of Cedar Lake. Please watch as Alisa and I stand shoulder to shoulder, hand to hand." Nina explained as she and Alisa stood beside each other. "Alisa's words are true. The war is over but there is one more battle that still needs to be fought."
"We believe those that tried to stir hatred in the school have mixed the pot ever since Kay came to Saunders as a first year creating the friction and rift between us and Pravda. Now if Kay's words are true, Saunders will be launching a weapon that can potentially destroy school ships. We don't know which school ship Kay is planning on using it on, but it is likely that Cedar Lake Academy is an obvious target. While I considered Helmet-Chan as an enemy before, I now see that with this weapon being mentioned, we're all at risk and I see that Kay has led my heart further into the darkness. I want to seek the light and find myself good again. If MEXT hears about this speech, I plead for you to send fighter jets to Ooarai to help stop this plan dead in its tracks. If this weapon is activated, we don't know which school is the target of said destruction. I will say it again, I do not know." Alisa expressed that the rift was closing but one more battle needed to be fought. Fearing what Kay said to her before the last battle on Cedar Lake's School ship began, she wanted to take it out before it was able to reach its target. Nina spoke next.
"However, that is no longer important. No matter which school is hit, it would be a severe blow to all of us." Nina said that the weapons Kay had planned were going to be launched and was going to target a school ship. For Alisa, she needed to give out this plea.
So, I now ask you, girls of Sensha-Do. If you see it in your hearts, please utilize the resources available to you to help get Kay's weapon destroyed. Right now, Ooarai is the closest school to Cedar Lake and the only one who is willing to stand to its defense. So please, send the jets over to Ooarai." Alisa explained as Ami was watching the message. She nodded yes and within seconds, fighter jets flew from their airbases to Ooarai, they were willing to give the school the planes to shoot down Kay's weapon.
"To those who still dare to hide behind the power of their hateful weapons. Bring yourself before the light of peace and harmony." Nina gave the final message as the crowd cheered with excitement. There was finally hope in Saunders once more. Miho and the others were watching as they knew what was underway.
"Kay is going to use something to harm the school. Is there still time to save it?" Kimberly asked as she was worried about this weapon that Kay was going to launch.
"There is time. We might be the only people left to stop it. If we can defeat Kay on land, then we can defeat her in the skies and on the ocean." Miho explained to Kimberly. She was willing to use herself to help defeat whatever there was left and now there wasn't much more to go. "A meeting is decided, they brought the jets over." The girls got up and headed off to the field. They were ready to see the presents.
The five jets were waiting around as the pilots had decided to loan them over to Ooarai as it was proven that this weapon of theirs was going to target someone. Rabbit teams were inspecting the jets, and they began to wonder. Was this their only chance to do something like this.
"Jets are only to be used in this mission and this mission alone. Operating these things is very easy, it's just moving the joystick and pushing buttons." Momoga explained to Miho and her friends. This was their gaming device and to them.
"A gaming device that can fly, we can take that." Tanya explained to Momoga. Momoga smiled as Stephanie walked forward as if she was ready to sing the journey home for the schools.
"The journey begins
Starts from within
Things that I need to know
The song of the bird
Echoed in words
Flying for the need to fly
Thoughts endless in flight
Day turns to night
Questions you ask your soul
Which way do I go?
How fast is too slow?
The journey has its time within us
If a man can fly over an ocean
And no mountains can get in his way
Will he fly on forever
Searching for something to believe
From above I can see from the heavens
Down below I see the storm rages on
And somewhere in the answer
There is a hope to carry on
When I finally return
Things that I learn
Carry me back to home
The thoughts that I feed
Planting a seed
With time will begin to grow
The more that I try
The more that I fly
The answer in itself will be there." Stephanie would tell herself. Hope was coming and this was it. The last line of defense between said hope and destruction brought on by a perverted version of being free.
"This is AWACS Oka Nieba. That would mean "Sky Eye" in your language!" Nekota told Stephanie as she recognized that song. "We got a message from your boss; I'll patch it in." Everyone laughed as this seemed to be one last prayer, one last moment of peace before the final fight.
"This isn't a fight between schools anymore, it's a fight between warmongers and peacemakers." Miho told the group that this was their new fight, the new reality.
Kay meanwhile was fuming over the defeat. She was on the mainland, and she had lost everything. Her own team had betrayed her, she was kicked out of power, and she had the respect of nobody. She wasn't aware of this speech but the one thing she still had was the weapon she told Alisa about. Kay opened the door to where said weapon was stored. The door slowly shifted open as she walked in. Inside it was empty, just the weapon and the control room.
The weapon had a large bulbous warhead where Kay had attached some of the explosives to. The Solar panels would give the weapon the power it needed to fly as well as more explosives on the wings where it would house several other warheads and explosives wrapped around the wings of said weapon. Kay walked over as she sensed this weapon of hers was now her lifeline.
"I've worked all year to get you ready, you're my only hope and friend to help me cling onto power. You will stand beside me and guide me and serve my fulfillment for global freedom." Kay would tell herself. She knew that this was her last chance, if this failed, she would have no more chances left to complete this task. Kay went over and pressed the buttons and decided to launch the weapon. The hatch to the door to the roof opened as the weapon flew into the air. Its target, Cedar Lake Academy. It seemed to be that there was nothing stopping Kay now.
All except for Miho.
[A/N]: Kay's weapon has been launched but for her, Miho is the only person who is still around who has the power to stop it. Alisa and Nina made peace between Saunders and Pravda. It is time for the schools to finally be at peace once more, but Kay's thrown that wrench into the plans.
The last chapter coming up will deal with Miho taking down this weapon of Kay's. See you later.
