Ok all, Enjoy
His helmet had retracted from his head as he started moving through the camp. Mograine looked up at the large crystal-like tree that had sprouted up from the ground some time ago, due to the fact that there were many injured from the battle against the Scourge, and it seemed to have been mostly wiped out as a result of that bomb that Kal used. They could set up a camp to tend to the wounded without worry of an immediate attack from the enemy, it was hesitantly set up and had little in the way of guards. However, everyone present was still armed to the teeth and ready for a fight, though definitely a little drunk at least when it came to the Orcs. Despite the few of them remaining.
That was easy to tell based on all the shouting, laughing and punching that came with their celebrations. Something he found difficult to explain considering the small number he saw around a large fire and a handful of tents seemed to be all that was left of them. Though to be fair it seemed that they were the only ones. The Forsaken were skulking around their camp and patrolling the area from what he'd been told, not much in the way of activity at all. Though the hostility they felt for them all seemed to be growing, he didn't know for certain but he had a very good idea that it was due to them not being directly involved in the Lich King's defeat. As far as he is aware Kal hasn't really spoken to anyone in a couple of hours, not since he gave the rest of them instructions to hang around the others until they could return to the fortress.
The Night Elves seemed to have used their druid magics to create large, lush flower beds that were being used as…... beds. Not by all of them but to help treat those who were injured, not just themselves but he could see a handful of orcs accepting their treatment as well. Quiet the step in diplomacy considering the bad blood between the two races, a common enemy really did help in clearing up bad blood.
Hearing a rumbling happening up him, he craned his neck to see two dragons fly over the camp. From what he could tell the dragons had mostly gone back to their nests save for a few, and the Aspects themselves were staying in the camp but as he looked around and didn't see the truly colossal creatures, they were walking around in their humanoid forms though he had no idea where.
For him and the rest of…. They really needed to come up with a name for themselves. Kal's forces had taken his orders very seriously, even more so than before. He could only assume that now they had proof that Kal kept his word, they felt even more towards him than they used to. Before they felt indebted to him for not only freeing them from the Lich King's control but also arming them with armour and weapons and leading them against him but now he also took him down. What was once debt turned into awe and even a little reverence in some cases. When Kal gave them orders to keep an eye on the camp and make sure the no Scourge remnants made a move against them.
"Excuse me" a voice called to him, he turned his head and saw a large woman with red hair, a regal figure and horns coming from her head.
It wasn't hard to figure out who this was. Mograine turned his body to face the woman and gave a short bow "Life-Binder" he said with respect "Is there something I can help you with?" he asked, the rifle held in his arms held in a calm grip.
"I have arranged a meeting between the Aspects, and the leaders of the mortal forces. I would like Kal to attend. There are questions I would like him to answer" she explained to him with her own calm voice.
"Is it about the large bomb?" he asked quickly.
"It is about the large bomb" she confirmed just as quickly as he asked "Among many other things that we would like to talk to him about. Of course, he doesn't need to answer but it would go a long way to easing many different fears that some of us feel after witnessing such a weapon" There was a worry in her voice that she didn't try and hide, not that he could blame her of course. He was one of the last to leave the battlefield into the large trench between the mountains, he saw the blast first-hand with his own eyes. He froze in place as he saw the large explosion that destroyed not only Ice-crown but nearly the whole region of it as well. The shockwave from the blast knocked him and everyone in the back few lines of defence off their feet completely. He knew Kal could do the impossible but seeing a weapon like that both awed and terrified him.
If that weapon had been used in the Great War, everything would have been destroyed. Even now it could completely wipe out Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Iron Forge, and Teldrasili. They wouldn't stand a chance and have no time to prepare. Kal really did have the power to take over the world if he wanted to, it really wasn't surprising that those who followed him were in so much awe. Bringing his mind back to the present, the former Paladin raised his right arm and pressed some displayed buttons "Kelex, you read me?" he said aloud and while he wasn't really paying complete attention it was hard not to see the head tilt and eyebrow raise on the dragon queens face.
"I read you loud and clear Commander" Kelex's voice came through quickly and with the same cheerful tone it always held.
"I need you to send a message to Kal, he's needed back at the camp immediately" he looked up and nodded at the Life-Binder who nodded back before turning to leave, he assumed that going to this meeting would be starting soon.
"I shall pass the message along though I should warn you that he may not respond at this time" he was told.
"Why's that?" he asked back quickly.
"He did not tell me" was the only replay of the A.I gave before the connection was cut and the call ended.
"Well, that's concerning" he said to himself as he lowered his arm and started to move, ready to continue his patrols around the camp.
"….Father" a voice called out that made him stop in his tracks. His face contorted into confusion as he couldn't shake the very familiar feeling that voice gave him.
Slowly, more slowly than he has ever moved before. Mograine turned around and found the one who spoke, as he saw the young man. Old feelings and memories he thought forgotten rushed back to him. His face was bloody and the little pieces of armour that remained on him were busted and beyond use. But he knew this man, he knew him so well, he thought he would never see him again "Son" he gasped as the two walked towards each other and held a long and tight embrace.
There seemed to be a permanent frown on his face as he looked at the Lasso in his hand. Kal knew that they just had a huge win against the enemies of this world, he should be happy but he just couldn't find it in him. The Lasso slowly waved back and forth as he stared at it, its primary colour was no longer gold but instead a very pale blue-white. Without him even using it, the rope was twinkling with small drops that looked like starlight.
This was one of the two things he had left of Diana, something he swore to himself that he would always treat with respect and honour. But now it was not of Hestia but Elune instead, it could have been completely reworked in a dozen different ways and he had no way to know in what way it was. But there was someone who did know, someone who had to know. It's what led him to where he is now. He looked away from the lasso for a moment and turned to the left, the world of Azeroth was shining in the void of space. So peaceful despite all the chaos that was taking place on it. It was true that he could have gone back to Teldrassil and spoken with Tyrande but he thought this would be better, he needed to speak to Elune and this felt the best way to get her attention. It was either in a temple with a high priestess or he could go to the domain the goddess held more highly than any other.
Which is why he was now standing on the planet's primary moon.
It was true that in his experiences at least, gods and goddesses were very disconnected from the world. It wasn't like Elune had a huge castle on the moon somewhere, but it would be foolish to think that a goddess of the moon didn't have a strong connection to it. If Kal wanted to talk to Elune then this would be the most peaceful way to do it "Come on, where are you?" he asked aloud, knowing full well his voice wouldn't be heard by just anyone. True this moon was far larger than the one Earth had but it still wasn't big enough to have an atmosphere "Elune, we need to talk" he said again.
The silence was all that met him. He let out a sigh as he started to walk across the surface, calling out to the goddess only to be met with silence. To be completely honest he did get frustrated by the lack of contact, it's started to seem that a job requirement of being a god was to be cryptic and annoying to everyone "Oh come on! It's just a conversation!" he said aloud, the frustration bleeding into his tone "I know you can do it. What? Do I need to go do some shitty ritual to get your attention, or do you only get involved when I beg!"
Silence.
He closed his eyes and let out a sigh, he placed the lasso on his waist and turned around, ready to head back to the cam….
She was behind him.
Kal froze in place as he looked to the woman who just appeared behind without any warning of any kind. Kal didn't attack, he didn't back up. Instead, he took a moment to observe Elune, the only person this could be. She took the form of a Night Elf woman, the same height as himself though the ears poked up higher, and her hair was long enough to wrap around her waist and wave back and forth in the lack of gravity and much like the lasso now, stark pale blue-white that sparkled with starlight. She was mostly naked save for a thin and see-through white sheet that wrapped around her, it hid nothing to the point that he wondered why she wore it. There was also a selection of golden branded jewellery such as bracelets, a necklace and tiara. Her eyes were hard to ignore, he would have expected them to shine with light, but it was the opposite, they were dark with small circles of blue light. It only took him a moment to realize that they were the colour of a lunar eclipse, her irises were in the patterns of moons with blue light going over the outlines of the circle shape of a moon.
Clarks met his fair share of gods and goddesses; he's always tried to be polite when he met them. But now he was more emotional than he thought he was "What did you do?" he asked with an angry voice.
Elune didn't react to the anger he was showing, instead, she gave him a small head tilt "I did what you asked me to do" Her voice was but a whisper, but it echoed in the back of his mind with the weight of the universe "You made the call for my aid, I answered you"
"I asked for your help" he replied quickly as he grabbed the lasso and held it in front of her face "I did not ask you to take control of that which wasn't yours to take!"
Elune didn't speak back immediately, she instead took a step forward and placed both her hands around Kal's as he held the lasso. She pulled his hand towards her face until her head was resting on his knuckles "This creation of the one you call Hestia was full of compassion, trust and love" Her eyes closed as she seemed to focus on it "I see through the eyes and hearts of those who used it. Diana cared for you more than anyone else" his eyes flared red at the mention of her name, it was only a second but it was enough to prove how emotional he was at this moment "But just as she relinquished control of this to you, I had to take control from Hestia. The goddess that you respect so much is gone, taken away by the enemy you hate above all others. The power that it would draw from ceased. It became finite. It would not have lasted in the struggle. If I didn't make it mine, he would have made it his"
As he listened to what was said, the anger in him started to fade. It was true that Elune could have been influencing his emotions as he spoke but he didn't think so. She wasn't wrong, the war from Darkseid was bloody and while he couldn't fight the embodiment of tyranny in the higher planes of existence along with the other gods, he knew that most gods of the universe fought against the true form of Darkseid in the fourth-dimensional plane and after a sacrifice only they could do. Destroyed his true form, cutting off his avatars from the real thing. Allowing the Darkseid they fought in the material universe to be the true and final form he had.
"Who was that?" he asked as his face lost all presence of anger but was now replaced by sadness as he thought about all that was lost in that war "The master behind the puppet"
As she heard the question, Elune's eyes opened and she lowered his arm towards her chest, placing it just between her breasts "A traitor that was banished long ago" There was a heat in her voice that wasn't there before "He was cast down into the dark oblivion never to return" he explanation was quick and to the point which was familiar to him, she was trying to avoid answering him.
"It seems he's not as gone as you would like to believe. Who is he?" he asked again.
He felt the pressure around his hand tighten and a small frown appeared on the woman's face "There is no escape from the unending torment of Maw" she as the area around him started to darken. Looking over her shoulder he could see the light of Azeroth started to dim, not literally but more of a warning she was giving him not to press the conversation "He may be able to play some small role in the influence of the mortal people, but he cannot directly interfere. Not in any meaningful way at least"
He took a step forward until their faces were right in front of each other, if there was air they would have felt it come from the other's mouths "There is always a way out of every hole, every prison and every oblivion" he countered with his own serious tone.
The light around her own body started to dim and was replaced by a powerful oppressive aura, if Kal was still young he would have been dragged to his knees because of it but he's been fighting directly against Darkseid for a long time. He's long grown immune to the aura of gods "Enough, I will hear no more of this. He cannot return" the warning was clear.
"I am not one of your subjects so awed by you to follow without question" Kal said back just as quickly "If he was gone then he wouldn't have been able to do what he did" he knew he should have stopped based on the anger that started to radiate off the goddess "that voice was heavy, ancient, powerful. He was able to do all of this on Azeroth from being inside whatever prison you threw him in. He's either out, or he's turning this Maw into his ow…" he was cut off as a force hit his chest with enough force to send him flying across what must have been hundreds of miles before he crashed into a large mountain. Completely shattering the entire thing and burying himself under the rock. While it did hurt, it wasn't too bad.
He let out a sigh before shooting out of the ground and into the air above the now-destroyed pile of rubble. In hindsight, he should have seen that coming but he wasn't going to let someone in power not do anything because they were afraid of what would happen if they were wrong, he had enough of that back home. Looking for the goddess so he could either yell or even punch her back, he wasn't surprised to see that she was now gone. The aura she projected was gone as well like she was never there to begin with.
He let out a sigh as it would seem that was the end of this conversation, that was the thing about gods, it was easy for them to leave and not be followed. Feeling the vibrations of his arm, he looked down to see a small light flash on his wrist, in between the gaps of the straps that kept the bracelets tight on his wrists. Rasing it to his mouth he spoke "Yeah, what is it?" he asked.
"Master El" kelex's voice came through "you have been requested back at the forward camp. The leaders of the attacking forces of a meeting to discuss the battle and what to do going forward. I also believe they would like an explanation for what happened" he said.
'Just as expected' he thought to himself before replaying "I'll be there as soon as I can Kelex" he said before he hung his call before he looked around him one more time before he shot away from the moon and back towards the planet.
Malfurion stood with a calming presence in the centre of the camp, it had been many hours since they retreated and that blast took place. A small shiver found itself going down his spine as he thought about it, when the explosion took place, he and many other druids felt a cry come from the ground under them, as if the world itself panicked at the sight of such power. It would need to be addressed when the one they wanted to speak to arrived.
At the moment it would seem that everyone else of importance was here. Himself, the Banshee queen, She of the Dream, the Aspect of Magic and the Life-Binder who was slowly walking towards the group "I have passed the message along to the commander" the dragon queen spoke with a calm and Regel voice "He does not know where Kal-El is located but the message has been passed along"
The news was clearly not the best based on the looks they all shared with each other but there was little else they could do at this moment "It will have to do" she of the great dream spoke. As others turned to look at her, there was very little in the way of doubt of who she was, her form at the moment may be of a Night Elf but the horns sprouting from her head and her eyes completely closed made it very clear who she was "What is the current situation regarding our forces?" she asked looking at the others.
There was a moment of silence that stretched on for longer than he would have liked so Malfurion spoke up "There were many who were lost, though I do believe it was worth noting that very few of the injured have circum to their injuries and should make a full recovery" he reported.
It didn't create much of a reaction but he did see the small smiles on both the female dragons "I am glad to hear this" Alexstrasza said with a small bow of the head.
"As am I" Yesra spoke next "Too much life has been lost already. Now is the time to clean up the mess that was created and rebuild that which has been lost" she added as she looked to the others.
"A pleasant thought" the cynical voice of Malygos came through next as he crossed his arms and looked to the others "But I am doing nothing until this entire continent is secured and all manner of Scourge forces have been wiped out completely. Not to mention I need many answers as to what happened to the Citadel and the Lich King himself" Despite his mortal visage of a Blood Elf, he still seemed to radiate a powerful malice that was hard not to feel threatened by.
"Agreed" Sylvanas said with her own crossed arms and narrowed eyes. She may be a simple undead but she held the same level of hatred as the Aspect of magic and that was saying something "I saw Kal before he called the retreat, I saw the Helm of Domination on his waist before he left. I will have answers" she added, not mentioning anything regarding her own forces and how many they lost. Malfurion wasn't completely surprised by that, he was aware of the deadened emotions that the undead had.
"There will be time for that soon enough" he spoke himself, drawing attention to him "Kal is not the type of man to leave us all without any words of explanation. I do not know where he is now but I do know that he will return as soon as he is able" he looked down and sighed slightly "I know that it is difficult to trust for some of you" it went without saying which two he was talking too "But I can assure you that despite how little we know of this Kal-El, he is not evil. I truly believe that"
"As do I" Alexstrasza spoke up as well as she eyed the Aspect of Magic who heard her gaze but he did lose some of his own intensity.
"He does not need to be evil to get my attention" the Banshee queen spoke as she stared at the Arch Druid "If he has taken the vengeance that was ours, I will take his life instead of the Lich Kings" the promise was a dark one but despite wanting to, those present could not detect a lie come from her.
Despite this meeting taking place only between those in charge, none felt the need to hold it anywhere specific. Not wanting to hide what they discussed with their forces, which led to their meeting taking place in the middle of the camp. Surrounded by their respective armies. Except for the dragons who seemed to be flying overhead and scouting the nearby landscapes for more enemies that may be….. alive? Active.
As Sylvanas made her declaration, there was a stillness that spread throughout the camp around them, not completely. There was still discussion and even some small sounds of celebrations in the distance, far enough away to not hear what she just said that brought everyone else to silence. Only to be stopped by the sound of an energy build-up that none of them have heard before. Malfurion looked over his shoulder to see three of the armoured forces that Kal used stand behind him, the rifle weapons they carried raised up and aimed, not at him but at the Banshee herself.
Turning back to look at the others, he could see what looked like all of Kal's forces converge on them, a half circle of silver armour formed around the ground and slowly moved closer towards the Forsaken leader. Their weapons were raised and ready to be used. Many of the Forsaken forces saw what was happening and an alarm was sounded. The Aspects and Malfurion remained calm as this happened, though the tension grew as Sylvanas's honour guard moved in behind their leader with their bows raised, Nathanos moving right next to her.
"Enough" Alexstrasza's voice was calm but it echoed all around them with a weight that shouldn't have come from her mouth but it was enough to get everyone to stop moving "We did not just win one battle for another to start among us"
"I agree, now is a time for peace. Not more war" Malfurion spoke as he took a step forward and looked away from Sylvanas towards the largest grouping of silver-armoured warriors.
"Apologies Archdruid" a voice called next to him, turning his head to the left, he saw one of them standing next to him with a weapon pointed at the Forsaken. Before he could ask the helmet retracted from her head and folded into the back and chest piece, revealing a dark-haired Night Elf "But you have not seen what we have, what he can do. Kal-El is the best hope this world has and our only chance at undoing what the Scourge did to us" her eyes moved away from Sylvanas and looked into his "I am glad you are well, but we can't let a threat to Kal live"
He was aware that many people had been taken and raised into undeath by the Scourge but seeing one of his own people taken and used in such a way both saddened and enraged him "So this is where the powerful mysterious force came from" the voice of Malygos spoke up, seemingly unbothered by all the weapons aimed around him "he freed the Death Knights from the control of the Scourge and turned them into his own force, clever" he commented.
"He didn't turn us into anything" a new female voice spoke up and heads turned to see a woman in the same armour minus the helmet and carrying a staff. This one Malfruoin knew of, a former priestess of the Light turned into what she sought to fight against. One of the four Horsemen, lady Blaumeux now walked into the middle of the group and faced the Aspect of magic "He freed us from slavery and gave us a choice. We choose" was all she said on the matter before turning to look at Sylvanas. Her eyes narrowed at the Forsaken leader before she turned to glance at the other soldiers "Stand down all of you, get back to your posts" she ordered.
There was a strong feeling of unease among Kal's forces as they glanced at each other "Ma'am?" someone asked.
"It's alright" she dismissed "Kal does not need you to fight this battle for him, he can kill the Forsaken before they can see him coming. Return to your posts now" she ordered again.
After a moment of hesitation, they lowered their weapons and started to back up, returning to their posts and patrols. She turned herself but also gave a final glance to the Banshee queen "If it's death you desire then do it yourself, Kal has better things to do" she advised before her helmet rose to engulf her head and she walked back into the camp.
There was more silence as the Aspects and druid looked to the Forsaken who had yet to leave their leader's side "A nice display but it changes nothing" she said again "I will not allow our vengeance to be taken from us"
"I'm very sorry to hear that" a new voice called out but this was different from the others, mainly because it was coming from above them. All heads turned upwards to see the one they were all waiting for descending down to them, his red cape swaying in the wind behind him as he came to the ground "But you will not be getting your vengeance today" he finished as his feet hit the ground in the middle of the gathering.
The anger that radiated off the Banshee queen tripled as she saw Kal before him but when he said that she drew her own weapon and aimed an arrow right at him "What did you do?" she snarled.
"What I said I was going to" he replayed calmly despite the danger he may be in "I told you before, Arthas is as much of a slave as you were. Now he's free, just like you are" he explained.
While Malfurion could admit this was not what he expected, he didn't have a moment to think about what he thought about it because he could see the smoke coming from the feet of Sylvanas and the red of her eyes started to glow "Are you telling me" she started with barely concealed rage "that Arthas is still alive?" she asked.
Despite the clear threatening aura that was coming from her, Kal didn't seem to be bothered by it "He lives" he confirmed "he is currently in the fortress being given medical treatment for his injuries"
The arrow flew from her bow and aimed right for Kal's chest, Malfurion didn't even have time to widen his eyes before he saw Kal raise his hand and catch the arrow before it could hit him. He did it as casually as one would swat away a fly, at the sight of the attack many of her honour guards fired their own arrows but there was a small gust of wind and Malfurion and the Aspects could only watch as Kal disappeared for the smallest fraction of second but appeared again in the same spot, this time with a collection of bows at his feet. The Forsaken honour guard stumbled in place as if something hit them but they were able to stay on their feet, though the panic was clear to see "You will give him over to me so he can face the Justice he deserves" Sylvanas ordered him completely unbothered by the display of speed that he has never seen before.
Kal was unbothered by her words "The justice he deserves is not for you to decide. It is not for any one person to decide. When the calmness of battle settles and the situation with the Dark Portal has been resolved, he will be given a fair trial" he explained as calmly as he could, the druid had to admit. Even he was having trouble ignoring the aura of murderous rage coming from the undead "TRIAL?!" she shouted as her form started to become more ghost causing all present to become on guard, the scream of a Banshee was a powerful thing, and he did not want to experience it "You would dare come to our lands, stick your nose in our business and now you try to take the justice isn't yours. You have no right" she argued.
Kal's face didn't change from the impassive neutral he has had since he arrived "I don't need to be from this world to know that vengeance and justice are two very different things. Arthas will stand trial and face the consequences of his actions and if it is decided that death is the only punishment fitting for his crimes then so be. He will die, but he will do it because those who judge him truly feel it is the only fitting punishment and not because of anger and fear" He started to walk forward towards the Banshee without any showing of fear, despite the weapons being drawn and mages ready to attack. He didn't stop until he stood face to face with the woman "and that is what will happen whether you want it or not"
He said nothing else, and neither did she. The two stared at each other for a long while, as they did so it was as if the sounds around the camp started to dim until it was only the two of them left. From what the druid could see, as Sylvanas's eyes started to glow red, an even brighter red came from Kal's own and based on the smoke coming from the woman's clothes it was really hot. The leader of the Forsaken stepped back first with a gasp as she tried to shake away the pain she would have felt from the heat. With a final glare towards the alien she turned and made to leave "Pack it up! We're leaving!" she yelled and everyone was quick to obey, leaving the five figures alone in the middle of the camp.
"I'm sorry it had to come to that" Kal said as he turned and looked to the others, his eyes met Malfurions first and the druid could see recognition in the aliens' eyes "You must be Malfurion, it's good to finally meet you in person and fully recovered" he said with an easy smile as he walked and reached out with his hand for a shake.
Taken aback but the sudden change of attitude but was glad for it, the druid reached forward and clasped the hand tightly before shaking it "It's good to meet you in person as well. I wanted to thank you, both for helping free me from my capture within the dream and helping my people with their troubles" he added.
Letting go, Kal smiled at him "No problem, it was the least I could do. Tyrande has been a good friend to me and she helped me get settled in this new world" Malfruion smiled at the mention of the kindness within his wife but couldn't say more before Kal turned and faced the aspects.
More specifically, the Life-Binder "I thought you weren't going to help" he said as he took a couple of steps towards her and stopped when he was an even enough distance between with three dragons.
Alexstrasza looked down to the ground, it almost looked like it was in shame before it rose again, and she looked at Kal "I thought so too but I thought about what you said. You were right, I shouldn't have let the past control me as much as it did. I regret not standing with you when I had the chance" she admitted with no small amount of humility.
"No apologies are necessary" Kal said with a casual smile towards the woman "You had every right to spend as long as you needed to heal from what happened" he added.
"Regardless" the Life-Binder spoke "I have not forgotten what you told me before" she spoke.
He nodded back at her before turning to the Aspect of magic as he wore his blood elf visage "I don't believe I have met either of you in person" he added as he looked towards Yesra as well "I'm sorry we had to meet in such dire circumstances, but I am glad we could work together to put an end to this threat"
"And done in such a spectacular fashion" Malygos spoke up as he crossed his arms "Not enough to defeat their leader and army but completely eradicate their fortress as well" his eyes narrowed in accusation "What was that weapon?" he asked quickly and to the point.
"While I would have but that more tactfully" she of the dream said as she stepped forward, despite her closed eyes her head faced Kal completely "I do agree with the statement, what was that? It was as if the very nature of the world recoiled at the sight of it" she explained.
Kal turned to look at the woman before letting out a breath "ok, this is starting to seem too much like a trial for my tastes" he looked around for a moment "Hang on" he blinked away with his speed and the others watched as he reappeared but not alone, they looked as a table and chairs appeared in the middle of the group "Please, let's all sit down and talk" he added as he pulled out a chair and sat down first. He pursed his lips together as he waited.
Seeing the spirit of the gesture, Malfurion moved forward and took the chair next to Kal's before pulling it out and sitting down himself. He gave the alien a nod and looked back to the Aspects, all he could do was give them a shrug "This isn't a trial" was all he said to them.
One by one the dragons moved forward and sat at the table, despite the more relaxed nature of their positions, things seemed more tense as a result. Kal was at the head of the table with the druid on his left, and on his right was Ysera, and next to her was Alexstrasza. The two women placed both their hands on the table and seemed to be the most relaxed of the grouping. Opposite Kal on the other side of the table was Malygos with his back straight and arms crossed. He seemed to be the most on guard while Kal and Malfurion seemed to be the most neutral of the grouping "So" Kal started as he leaned forward and placed his hands on the table, clasping them together "The weapon, it's been made many different times on many different worlds. It's a type of benchmark for measuring the advancement of a species. It's called a nuclear weapon" he explained.
The others were quiet as he spoke "Why would you create such a weapon?" Ysera asked him with a tone of unease.
Kal turned to look at her "When I was planning the attack on the Citadel I was making detailed scans of it and the surrounding area. I knew the fortress couldn't be allowed to remain but rather than do it myself and leave a large amount of radiation in the process. The nuclear weapon was the most efficient way to destroy it all in a timely manner" he explained as calmly as he could "If it makes you feel any better, I do not believe using a weapon of that magnitude again will be necessary. If anything, now that the Scourge has been largely dealt with, I feel that we're going to have some peace now" he said with a smile.
"PACK IT UP FASTER!" the Banshee queen shouted as her forces started to move quicker.
"Some good long peace" he smiled.
"I doubt it will be so simple" Malfurion spoke drawing the attention of the others "What has happened here will not be a secret, people will want to talk to you regarding this battle" he added.
Kal didn't disagree, he gave the older man a nod "I don't doubt that, they can ask whatever questions they want. I may not answer them, but I'll be honest about it" he admitted.
"Speaking of. I have questions" Malygos started with narrowed eyes "and I strongly recommend you answer them" The underhanded threat was clear and to get that from one of the Aspects was no small thing. Even the most powerful of mortals would not take such a thing likely, Kal simply tilted his head.
"You can ask" was all he said to that.
However, it didn't go unnoticed that many of his troops started to move closer to them once again, clearly on guard. They were holding back for now, standing behind some tents and groups of people, but it was clear they were standing guard. Not for the camp but for him. This convergence of soldiers was seen by the Aspects though they didn't react to it by much.
"Why did you involve yourself in this?" the Aspect of Magic asked "You're new to this world, it's not your own, and you have the means to fend off anyone who would make an attempt against you. Why bother?" he asked.
The others were expecting something far worse and personal; this one didn't seem so bad starting up "You're right that I am new here and the Scourge hasn't done anything against me. But they don't need to be my problem in order for me to step in, if I have the power to help those who need it then that's what I'll do" he explained.
"How did you free the Death Knights from the Lich King's control? I tried everything I could to undo that, and I know many others did as well. They were all met with failure" he asked.
Kal saw it as a fair point and reached down to his waist and pulled up the lasso before placing it on the table "With this, or what it used to be" he added with a hint of sadness that Alexstrasza seemed to take notice of "It is a relic divine in nature to one of the many gods of my old home. During the battle with the Lich King it was altered, it seems Elune has taken it over and made it her own. I don't know what it will do now or what effects it has" he added and that was all he said on the object.
Though it was clear that he was telling the truth, Malfurion has been around Elune enough to know her presence when he saw it and that was very much an Elune relic. He didn't know What Kal would do with it now, but he made a note to ask him about it.
The meetings lasted for hours, they all asked their questions and got their answers. It only focused on the battle and what each of them did. While it was true that it was mainly Kal doing the answering, telling them about how he freed the Death knights and when they agreed to join him in fighting the Scourge, he outfitted them with the weapons and armour of his people which they could see for himself seemed to be much more powerful than what they had.
Kal had his own questions, how they came together and joined forces with the mortal races, well, mortal by dragon standards. Alexstrasza did most of the talking with her sister weighing in here and there.
It was good timing as when most of the explanations finished, commander Mograine walked towards the group and stopped just behind Kal. The others stopped speaking as they looked at the man and noticed the younger living man standing behind him "Sir, reports have come in from all scouting parties and Kelex, there's been no sighting on the Scourge in any way shape or form. They're all gone" the man glanced at the others "word's going to be spreading, I think it would be best if we return to the fortress and get ready for the fallout" he advised.
Kal glanced at him before thinking about his words, the fallout wasn't going to be a violent one. At least he hoped so, it was going to be more of a tension-filled standoff with no small amount of fear. He didn't doubt for a moment that it would be the same as on Earth, those in charge would not like what he did or the power he showed in order to do it. They would panic and as a result, they would fear him and what he could do. Of course, he's made it no secret of what he could do but hearing it and seeing are two very different things.
He didn't think this would escalate to the point of how bad it would get on Earth. He's made some very influential allies and he's got himself a lot of goodwill with the people due to his deeds and gifts. He gave the people of this planet satellites, and solar power to a capital city and saved the life of a prince for an entire kingdom. That should give him the benefit of the doubt, at least enough for him to explain what happened in person and get a trial for Arthas set up.
"Good idea" he said before he stood up and looked at the others "I'm glad we've all had a moment to have this conversation, but I do think it is time for me to leave" As he did so, it did not go unnoticed that those who followed him started to converge towards the group. Though they did it as non-threateningly as possible.
"Before you do" The Life-Binder spoke as the others stood as well "I was hoping that I could discuss certain things with you in private. Would you be willing to return with me to my nest before you return home?" despite in the interesting question, the others didn't seem to think too much of it and started to leave themselves. However, it didn't go unnoticed that the Aspect of Magic eyed Kal with suspicion before turning to leave himself.
"err…." Kal stammered in place for a moment, surprised by the request but he had to admit that he didn't see a problem with it "I don't see why not" he added before turning to look at Mograine "Get everyone back to the fortress and settle them in. All the Death Knights that we took at the end should have their minds back but that doesn't mean I trust them, keep them in the cells and try to reassure them that they're not in danger and it's for their own good" he ordered.
Mograine's glowing eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he looked at the Life-Binder, clearly not liking the idea of Kal staying here without them but it's not like he could tell him not to "Understood" he said back as he turned and started to move forward towards the now packed up area that the Forsaken left behind. The others watched as large circle portals opened up in front of the force and they stepped through without issue, though the young man hesitated for a moment before following himself.
When the Boomtubes closed Kal turned to look at Alexstrasza "After you" he smiled.
Kal had to admit, the dragon queen was a sight to behold as she flew through the sky towards her nest. Her red scales started to reflect the rising sunlight giving her a glowing ruby shine, and despite her large size, she was quick. Despite the wings he was well aware that magic was giving her more of a boost in the air than anything else, it shouldn't be possible for her to fly as quickly as she was. Nevertheless, he could understand why she was called a queen, it's been a long time since he's seen such beauty from such a powerful creature.
He was a good distance from her as they flew, not wanting to get smacked by her wings but also not wanting to fly directly over or under her, she could get offended for some reason. She might not but he didn't want to risk it, besides he does enjoy the casual flight every now and again.
The two didn't talk as they flew, enjoying the comfortable silence. The flight itself didn't last longer than fifteen minutes give or take. The nest was far emptier than it was before, not that he was surprised by that of course. He saw many different red dragons during the final part of the battle, though it wasn't completely empty. Kal could see some dragons walking among the grass around the large tree, notably a lot smaller than the ones he saw fighting.
The dragon queen started to descend towards the large tree and Kal followed without issue. She let out many small and large rumbles and roars as she did so, the dragons who looked up at her arrival did their best to match her though they failed in that regard. They didn't move to interrupt the two or even take a step towards them, maybe she was telling them to give her some time but he had no idea.
Alexstrasza landed on the ground far more gently than he would have thought a creature of her size could. He didn't land himself, knowing that he would need to jog in order to keep up with her just walking due to the size difference. He hovered in the air beside her as they journeyed deep into the grove until he was once again within the central nest of the red flight. He could see just as many smaller nests and eggs within them when they moved to the central nest in the middle of it all. A beautiful best of grass, gems and flowers. The Life-Binder started to change back into her more humanoid form and stood at the same height as himself.
Kal lowered himself to the ground and followed her into the centre of the nest, though he couldn't help but take a closer look at the eggs, his curiosity getting the better of him in that regard. Though when Alexstrasza stopped moving and turned to face he turned his attention back to her "What was it you wanted to talk about?" he asked with a calm voice.
"I wanted to both apologise to you and provide a way I hope will make amends" she said gently as she lowered herself to sitting on the grass and gestured for him to do the same.
"No apologies are necessary" Kal said as he sat down himself "If anything I should be the one saying sorry, I had no right to rant at you for wanting to keep you and yours safe"
"I will not accept excuses" she said back to him just as quickly "I and my kin are the dragon Aspects, for nearly twenty thousand years we have been the protectors of this world, we defended it from every threat we saw and we did our jobs well. I have been hurt, injured and abused so many times in so many different ways but I never let it get in the way of the mission we were assigned" She looked down and let out a sigh "But ever since the War of the Ancients when Neltharion tricked us into giving up some of our power and turned it against us. The wounds from battle take on a much stronger form, for all of us. And because of that we have let this world turn into what it is now, were it not for you then perhaps the Scourge would have grown too much for us to contend with" She looked back up to him and continued "We owe this victory to you and those who followed you. It was supposed to be our duty to protect this world and because of my failure as a leader, it fell to you. I'm sorry for that"
To be completely honest Kal was touched by her words "You don't need to apologise for that. The Scourge were a threat to everyone, I simply believed that dealing with them myself would lead to fewer people suffering at their hands" he took a step closer towards her "If you've really being protecting this world for that long then you have every right to a break, to not forcing yourself to fight every threat that appears. You've earned a recovery period"
"And you have not?" she tilted her had at him "When you were last here, you spoke about your own pain. It was that I wanted to help you with" though she was quick to noticed how quickly his whole body started to tense at the mention of what he must have gone through "You told me that every time you close your eyes you see that which you have lost, you feel the pain of that loss. Normally I would understand the symbolism of the statement but for you I believe it to much more literal" Alexstrasza started to let the life magic within her be realised into the ground around them in an attempt to create a more calming atmosphere for him "When was the last time you slept?" she asked.
She studied her for a moment, no doubt being able to tell that she was doing something with magic but not what "Two years" he answered, not counting being rendered unconscious by being in the middle of planet sandwich.
"That is what I want to help you with now" she opened her arms and legs to him "let me help heal you from your own wounds" she offered.
He was startled by the display and had no idea what she was offering exactly, the largest male part of his being thought it was sex while another more emotional part felt it was more the feeling of being in close presence to a loved one, he had no idea and while he wasn't exactly nervous, he wasn't happy about it either "I…. I'm not sure about….." he started.
"Please" she said to him "You have helped us a great deal, allow me to return the favour. Allow me to hold and guide you through your pain"
He wanted to say no, he thought it would be best but at the same time he didn't feel any type of trickery or deceit being made. What was the harm in letting her try to help him, he didn't thing she was trying to use him in anyway and he does think he's a good judge of character "Ok" he said with a small shrug "guess we could try it" he added before reaching to his back and grabbed the trident before gently placing it on the ground "er… how should I?" he asked.
She smiled at him as he agreed "Sit down between my legs and place your head between my bosom" she instructed.
While not a blushing virgin, there was a small beat of red on his cheeks as he moved closer, he didn't crawl so much as calmly glide across the ground until he was next to her. Doing as instructed he placed himself sideways in between her lets and let his head fall in-between her breasts and trying not to think about how comfortable they were "Try to relax" she instructed him "Let the life energy engulf you. Allow it to embrace you and calm you. Close your eyes" she said.
It took Kal longer than he would have thought it should but, in the end, he was able to do it. As soon as he did, he was back there, he could see the flashes of weapon fire, the screams of the dying, the smell of chard corpses and he could see the looks of horror on the faces of all those who he cared for. He could see him standing over him, grinning as he tried to make him submit. His could feel his fists tighten, his anger start to build and his normally calm and calculating mind start to succumb to powerful emotions.
This was the worst part about having a mind as powerful as his, you were able to recall everything and understand most things as an A.I would. But you lack the control that a machine would have, you couldn't stop yourself from seeing certain things anymore then anyone else could, only difference is that with a mind so powerful it becomes so much more intense. It was the difference between reading a book about something and doing it in person, it was such a powerful difference.
He found himself starring at the large form of Darkseid, before the final fight would begin but before he could loose himself to it and force his way out of this embrace and attempt to heal him from this. Something stopped him, the smell of burning bodies and smoke was replaced with something else.
He could smell roses and lily's, freshly cut grass, the grains of a field and the deep oak of a forest "Whatever you are seeing right now" Alexstrasza's voice spoke up as he felt her hand rub against the back of his head in a comforting manner "do not ignore it but instead try and move past it. Focus on my voice" it was so soothing that he didn't doubt was in no small part of the magic aura he could feel engulf him "Feel the heartbeat in my chest, the blood moving through my veins, hear my voice as it carries through the air and most of all. Feel the life that is all around you. All the death that you have suffered, all the pain and loss that you see now. Do not forget that life always continues, life always finds a way forward"
He listened to her words and much to his own surprise, he found it working. He could see, feel and hear everything that happened during that battle but it was slowly starting to fade away into the background "Just be here, with me, in this moment" she continued "allow the peace of this nest to calm you, allow the magic of life to fill you and allow me to embrace you"
He was so caught up in what was happening that when he felt her hand start to tilt his head, he didn't think of a reason as to why until he felt soft and warm lips press against his own. His eyes shot open and he found himself looking up as Alexstrasza kissed him, her own eyes closed. So many different things started to work its way through his mind as he tried to process what was happening right now. This was not a good time for this, not at all. Normally Kal wasn't one to allow himself to be so slaved by his baser urges. The magic must have a been affecting him more then he realized or maybe this was the goal all along? He does feel a lot better than he did before and considering this was a dragon, this might not mean the same thing for her as it does for him.
Though the longer their lips remained connected, the more he started to loose himself to it. Until there was no coming back.
He closed his eyes and started to kiss her back, opening her mouth with his tongue as he turned in placed and wrapped his arms around her. Using more strength than he was used to he pushed the woman onto her back and used one hand to keep himself up as they kissed. If Alexstrasza had a problem with him being on top then she didn't show it as she wrapped her arms around his neck and held him close as they kissed.
With was a slightly tingling throughout his body and he opened his eyes slightly see a small green glow engulf him slightly, he was about to pull away and ask what she was doing but stopped when he noticed that their clothes were starting to peel off and disappear. Not caring about that at the moment he closed his eyes and lost himself to the pleasure of it all once again. Moving on instinct he separated his lips from hers and moved onto her neck, causing as gasp from her as she wrapped her legs around his waist and pulled him closer.
His left hand moved down her side clasped her ass cheek, enjoying the smooth feeling on his has as her breasts pushed against his chest. He could feel her own hand wonder down in between them until she grabbed his hard manhood, he let his own gasp he felt her pump it up and down before pointing towards her entrance. Pulling away from her neck he looked into her inviting eyes before he lowered his waist and entered her. They both let out a gasp as he did so though not before he pulled out and back in again. There lips met once more and the sound of their pleasure echoed throughout the chamber.
Ok we shall call it there and I was surprised by how long this chapter got and I'm happy with it so there you go. First sort of lemon of the story and I hope you all enjoyed it. To those of you who think this was a little quick and out of character for Kal, don't worry. I'll go a little more in depth to what happened next chapter.
Anyway, let me know what you all thought in the reviews, and I'll see you in the next chapter.
