Flameout Chapter 19

Stella

Stella slammed her hand down on the mattress in her cell. She was pissed. In her other hand, she held an article from a Boston newspaper, announcing the arrival of Dr. Maura Isles as the new chief medical examiner for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

She knew that Maura would contact Jane. She knew that there was something brewing between the two of them and she didn't want that to happen. She hadn't given up on Jane.

Stella's friends hadn't been able to give her too much information on Jane. She knew that she had finished her physical therapy and had returned to work but that is all she knew.

She needed to figure out a way to get out of jail. She needed to be with Jane. She loved Jane and she knew in her heart that Jane loved her also. Jane was just confused. Jane needed to remember her. Needed to remember that they were supposed together forever.

Stella would draw up a plan to win Jane back. She would have to contact several people to assist her but with enough planning she would be able to put her plan into motion. Maura fricking Isles would not steal Jane from her. Jane was hers and hers alone.

Jane and Maura

Jane was the first to wake up again. This time the situation was a great deal different. Jane and Maura were both naked. Maura was half on Jane. Jane was excited, she had the most beautiful woman lying in bed with her. Jane thought Maura was the most beautiful woman she had ever met, both inside and outside. She loved that Maura was intelligent as well as beautiful. She had enjoyed getting to know more about Maura.

Jane had a pressing problem as she laid there admiring Maura. She really needed to use the restroom. She wondered how she could extricate herself from Maura without disturbing her. She didn't want to wake Maura up. She wanted to hurry and use the restroom and then put herself right back in the position she found herself in when she woke up.

Jane successfully removed herself from underneath Maura with the help of her pillow. She placed the pillow and after Maura snuggled up with the pillow, she carefully climbed out of the bed and went to the restroom. After washing her hands, she glanced back out to view the sight in the bed. A beautiful naked woman laid in the bed. A woman she had spent most of last night making love to.

Jane carefully walked over to the nightstand where Maura had placed the book on sexual positions, she picked up the book and climbed back into bed. She placed the book beside her on the bed. She wanted to talk to Maura about some of the positions when she woke up.

Maura snuggled right back up to Jane when she climbed back into the bed. If anything, Maura was now laying more on Jane. It was like Jane was her pillow, her human pillow. Jane didn't mind at all. She loved it, she loved being this close to Maura.

Maura's hair was tickling her chest, her bare chest. Jane wasn't about to complain though. After giving Maura a soft kiss on the forehead, she closed her eyes and just enjoyed laying there with Maura. Soon she fell back asleep.

It was another hour before Maura woke up. Jane felt Maura must have really needed the sleep and didn't want to wake her. They didn't have a checkout time like with a hotel where they would have until 1 PM tomorrow before they had to check out of the room. This was Maura's parents' house so they could stay as long as they wanted. When Maura woke up, she lifted her head and smiled at Jane, "Good morning, Jane."

Jane smiled back and said, "Good morning, beautiful." Jane then pulled Maura up on top of her and preceded to kiss her. "Are you up for a little bit of exercise this morning?"

"What do you have in mind?"

Jane flipped them so that Maura was now laying on her back and reached over and pulled the book over to them, "I thought we might try some of the positions from this book. I know we tried several positions last night but I would like to continue if you are up for it."

"I think I might need a shower and then maybe some food."

"That sounds like a great plan. Can we shower together?"

"Yes, let's shower together and then we can have some food. Of course, there is no room service but I believe food is available downstairs, we might just have to heat it up." The shower took longer than Maura had thought because they couldn't keep their hands to themselves but once they finished their shower, they went downstairs.

When they arrived downstairs, they found a breakfast spread under covers on the kitchen island. Maura told Jane, "Sarah must have stopped by and prepared breakfast for us." Jane was pleased to see bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and toast.

Maura knew that Jane would not be excited about the selection of fruits that were cut up and ready to eat. Maura did sneak some fruit on Jane's plate. Jane just looked at Maura and Maura smiled at her. "I saw that Maur, already sneaking healthy stuff on my plate."

"Of course, a girl has to try." They both laughed. Jane knew Maura was right, she needed to eat healthier food items. When they finished eating, they went back to bed. They looked through the pages of the book and each picked out a position they would like to try. They spent most of that day and that night making love with each other.

As it approached Sunday afternoon, Jane asked Maura, "Would you like to attend Rizzoli Family dinner tonight? My ma goes all out. It is the one time a week that she gets to see all of her children."

"I would love that, I like your mother."

After a short make out session, they cleaned up and packed their belongings and headed out. They went back to Maura's to get ready. They arrived just in time for Rizzoli family dinner. Angela was excited to see both of them. Jane had already told her mother that they would not be there. Frankie knew that they would be there as Jane had sent him a quick text to let him know. As usual Angela made enough food for an army. Seeing all the food, Jane leaned over and asked Maura, "Can you call Skye and have her bring the children over, I really miss them."

"Yes, I will call her." She gave Jane a quick kiss on the lips and then called Skye to bring the children over. She had missed them also, but felt it was important to have some alone time with Jane so that they could move their relationship to the next step. Maura was so happy that she had that alone time with Jane. She felt as though she was ready to spend the rest of her life with Jane.

Maura had talked about an idea she had on their trip to Angela's, Jane loved the idea. After calling Skye, she turned to Angela and offered to host a New Year's Eve party at her parents' house. Angela didn't know about Maura's parents' house and after a brief description of the house, Angela accepted the gracious offer. After dinner Angela told Frankie and Tommy about the change of location for the New Year's Eve family get together.

Jane spent almost every night with Maura. She loved helping tuck the children in every night. The children loved Jane and she loved them. On New Year's Eve they all prepared for the evening and then went over to the Isles' estate. Maura had the dinner catered so that everyone could enjoy their time together. They had invited Gen and her family, Frost, Susie, Frankie and Tommy along with their families.

Jane was excited to spend New Year's Eve with Maura and the children. At the stroke of midnight as Jane leaned in to kiss Maura, Charlie and Bella each pulled one of her hands and had her bend down. Maura bent down with them and the four of them kissed at midnight. Jane smiled, although she would have liked to just kiss Maura, she was a packaged deal, she had two wonderful children.

Jane stood back up and picked a child up in each arm and swung them around. They were laughing as Maura stood there taking a picture. Jane leaned in and gave her a quick kiss before she spun the children again. She loved playing with the children and Maura loved seeing Jane play with the children.

A few days later, Jane went with Maura to take the children to their first day of school. Charlie and Bella were looking forward to meeting new people and hopefully making some new friends. The only friends they had so far were Frankie and Tommy's children.

Charlie and Bella were all smiles when Jane and Maura picked them up. Jane knew it was cold outside but she asked if the children wanted to go for ice cream. They both turned and looked at their mother who looked at Jane. "What, it is a Rizzoli tradition." Jane exclaimed as Maura tilted her head. "Look, normally the first day of school is in August when it is warmer." Jane replied in her defense.

Maura smiled and told the children, "Just this once because after all it is a tradition, a Rizzoli tradition." The children both smiled and Jane drove them to the ice cream parlor. Bella was having an issue seeing the ice cream so Jane held Bella up so she could see all the flavors.

Bella was having a problem selecting which flavor she wanted to try. Jane told her, "You can have three samples and then you must choose one."

"Okay, mama Jane." Jane was in shock, did she just hear what she thought she heard. Had the eight-year-old daughter of her 'girlfriend' just called her mama. Bella was once again deep in thought as she selected which flavors to sample.

A few weeks later, Jane had noticed that Maura was wearing pants at work instead of a dress or skirt so she asked Maura, "would you like to get a cup of coffee with me?"

"Jane it is too late for coffee but I could go for a cup of tea."

"Fine, grab your coat and let's go."

"Where are we going Jane? I would not require a coat if we are going to the District One Café."

"To a coffee shop about a block away."

Maura put her coat on and walked with Jane to the coffee shop. Once inside Jane was greeted. "Hello Jane, your usual?"

"Yes Maggie, thank you."

"And for you miss?"

"I'll just have a cup of tea thank you."

"Ok, one usual and a cup of tea coming up."

"Thanks Maggie will grab a table over here." Jane pointed to the area that where they would be seated.

"I'll bring it out as soon as it's ready, Janie." Maggie shared.

"Jane, I enjoy you showing me all of your favorite places but is something wrong?"

"No, well yes, Maur, I don't know how to address this so I am just going to ask. Are you okay?"

"Yes, Jane, I am fine, why do you ask?" Maura frowned. She looked sad to Jane and it puzzled Jane.

Jane paused their conversation as Maggie brought out her French fries and coffee as well as Maura's tea. When Maggie left, Jane continued, "You normally wear dresses, even when it is snowing outside and it is so cold, yet this morning you are wearing pants and I guess to me, you just don't look as happy as you normally would."

Maura tried to smile at Jane but she couldn't. "I missed you last night. Last night was the first night we have spent apart since our relationship changed."

"You mean, since we started sleeping together?"

"Yes, well since I became your girlfriend. I didn't get that much sleep and when it came time to dress, I just wasn't myself and so here you have me, wearing pants instead of one of my lovely dresses. I did manage to put on my makeup and style my hair. I just didn't feel like wearing a pretty dress."

"Oh Maur, I was just watching the super bowl with my brothers and drank to much. I didn't want to disturb you and the children by coming over somewhat intoxicated."

"I missed you, I woke up to an empty bed. I wanted to snuggle up to you. I feel so much better when you are beside me. Gosh, I feel like a teenager who has lost her first crush. You have spoiled me. You have stayed over every night. I have become addicted to you lying beside me."

"Maur, I am still here, I care about you. I am not going anywhere. I was just having an evening with my brothers, a little bit of football, some unhealthy snacks and beer. I love being with you and the children. I get together with my brothers like this every super bowl weekend. I am sorry, I should have told you that I would probably just spent the night at my apartment."

"Move in with me!" Maura quickly said before she could change her mind. She had wanted to ask Jane but hadn't found a way yet and she just said it before she could change her mind.

"Wait, what? You want me to move in with you?" Jane asked surprised at what Maura had asked.

"Yes, Jane. I love having you here with me. I miss you when you are not here. We can move to my parents' house if this one is not big enough."

"Maur, this house is big enough, are you sure?"

"Yes, Jane. I love you and I want you to be a part of my life. I know this might seem fast, but I know it is the right decision." Maura said as she looked a little worried that Jane might say no. She was letting her insecurities get to her again. That was part of why she hadn't dated anyone since Sam's death. She couldn't control her desire to have Jane near her, she truly was addicted to having Jane with her.

"I would love to." Jane replied without too much time passing by.

"We can convert the basement … wait, you want to?" Maura paused as she examined what Jane had just said.

"Yes, Maur, I would love to move in with you and the children. Did you say you love me?"

Maura looked confused, had she told Jane that she loved her without realizing it. "Yes, I do love you, Jane. I am in love with you." Maura didn't hesitate letting Jane know.

Jane didn't reply with words, she just moved into Maura's personal space and held her tightly as she kissed her. When they broke for air, Jane told her, "Great, because I love you and I am in love with you." They continued kissing. Maura reached in her pocket and pulled out a key and handed it to Jane.
