Chapter 27 – Satisfy The Reaper
"Gatling Ogre's effect."
A flurry of bullets rains horizontally upon Ramon, filling him and his life points full of lead. He drops to his knees in pain, defeated by the new blood. "No… too easy… a one-turn kill!"
"First turn kill…" Standing before Ramon is the victor, Lotten. He's a tall, dark-skinned man with a rotten expression. Three bangs of his brown hair hang over his face.
The carriage takes Ramon away, his screams muffled by the coffin covering him. With him gone, Lotten turns to the rest of Ramon's group. "And there you have it. Now, I can do the same to all of you…"
He throws red bandannas over to them. "Or, you can join our gang." An offer to live given to them, the Ramon group tosses aside their marking and picks up the red.
Malcolm laughs in triumph. Now that his gang is the only one still active, the town is his. He pats Lotten on the back. "Thanks for showing up to help, Lotten. We now run things here!"
"That's right…" Lotten sighs before turning to the setting sun. With the dueling hour concluded, no more sacrifices will be made tonight. Now, he has one real problem left, the two who escaped. 'But, I won't have to wait long. Not while his D-Wheel is still here. They'll be back.'
With his victory, Malcolm's group parties like it is 1999. Meanwhile, the children Nico and West sneakily grab hold of the Blackbird D-Wheel and push it. Or, they would have had it not given Nico a tiny shock.
"Nico!" West says as he approaches his sister.
"I'm fine. I guess he thought ahead and gave it protection."
"You got that right." The kids look up and spot Crow coming down the top of the building. He holds a finger up to silence them. "Thanks, kids. Let's get out of here."
Quietly, he wheels it away with the kids behind him following with equal stealth. All the while, a pair of eyes are on them amid the many men boozing it up.
Crow and the kids finally reach their hiding spot, where Kiryu and Barbara are. Down at the base of the mountain cave is a cemetery. Wooden stakes shaped as crosses litter the entire field, each one containing a duel disk revolver tied to these markless sights. Barbara is tied up to one of them, arms behind her back, all while Kiryu watches sitting on the ground.
"We're back." The reaper gets up and looks back to see Crow has returned with his D-Wheel, as well as the kids.
"West? Nico?"
"Kiryu!" they cheer seeing the cool duelist. They pass by Crow, brushing by him and causing something to fall out of his jacket.
Kiryu looks away ignoring them, or trying to. "You shouldn't be here. I told you to leave this place."
"We can't. Not without our father," says West with determination.
The Infernity Duelist sighs while looking down.
"Kiryu, don't be like that," Crow says while standing up, holding the necklace he dropped. "They want something and they're gonna be stubborn about it. You of all people should know that."
"Must you remind me-"
"Ah! That necklace!" says Nico looking at his necklace.
"You know this?"
"It's father's!" she tells him while accepting it from the Black-Feather player. She hands it to West, who holds it. "Where did you get this?"
"Oh! That's who that was…" Crow remembers back when he saw those guys escaping. He must be another slave mining the caves.
After explaining how he got it, West asks, "Is he okay?"
"I wouldn't know. They took him away…" His answer depresses West.
Meanwhile, Barbara quietly sits by listening to their chatter. Her right thumb presses hard against the knuckle of her other hand until it cracks bending the other way. After a slight wince, she slowly wiggles her hand in the rope. 'I hate having to do this again…'
"Don't worry. We'll save him and everyone in this town. All we need is time and manpower." Crow turns to the mines' direction. "We'll wait here until help arrives. Shouldn't be too long until the others show up. And if need be, we'll take down Lotten ourselves."
"What, with your stupid bird call trick?" Barbara says, finally speaking up after silence for so long.
"How did you do that anyway?" asks Kiryu.
"Yusei. He made a couple of improvements to the Blackbird Robert would be proud of," he replies, eyes glimmering in nostalgia at the remembrance of that name.
Suddenly, the group looks over after hearing some noise. Lights shine in their direction, and it becomes obvious what's happening. Lotten and Malcolm have found them.
Crow scuffs before going to his D-Wheel. "Kiryu, take the kids and go!" he says before driving off. He comes to the biggest D-Wheel and jumps in the air, bumping headfirst into it. As Lotten is driving it, that quickly gets his undivided attention. "Let's go!"
"Little punk!" Lotten gives chase as two of his other members hunt down Kiryu. He grabs West and is about to get Nico.
However, Barbara escapes in time to grab hold of Nico, bending her arms backward. "Nice try!"
"Nico!"
"Go! Now!" she shouts, not wanting to lose her brother too.
Reluctant, West goes with Kiryu on the cart. They take it further into the cave as the two D-Wheels give chase.
As Crow enters the mine too, Lotten follows after him. The latter angrily shouts, "You should have left the minute you got your vehicle. But the fact that you've stayed means you're planning to save everyone here!"
"If you've ever been to Satellite, you'd understand why."
"Those marks on your face tell me all that I need to, Satellite trash," Crow growls at that little piece of slander.
Meanwhile, Kiryu loses his pursuers as they go further into the mines. Eventually, the cart reaches a mining area. After the cart stops, he and West come before the slaves working tirelessly in the mines. Kiryu manages to blend into the shadows before he sneaks up to a duelist holding an electric shotgun.
Using it, he paralyzes him and several others.
"Father!" West shouts as he runs into the crowd. He heads directly for the man who threw the pendant to Crow earlier and hugs him.
"West! What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to get you out!" he shouts, still holding onto him.
"West, we have to go," says Kiryu as he hears more guards showing up.
"I'm not leaving without my father!"
"Then bring him along!" he shouts a bit more passion in his voice.
The three of them run to another cart and start up the track. Kiryu fires from his gun until there's no more ammunition left and tosses it aside. He joins the father and son on the tracks and they get rolling.
Their pursuers give chase on the tracks, which gives him worry. But he refuses to give up. It isn't for himself this time, but for the others he wants to protect. He needs an opening to do that, however.
One comes when he slows the track to lariat one of the guys off his machine.
However, once seeing the father with the collar, they activate it shocking him. Kiryu leaps off the cart and kicks him off, before switching off the activation to the collar. Slowing down, the thugs ram him into the wall, which turns on them when they hit a snag in the wall and it causes them to crash.
Kiryu leaps off in time, and the man grabs him. West slows the cart down just enough for him to climb back up. "Kiryu, thank you."
Out of breath from his heroics, Kiryu breathes in and out. "Thank you."
"No, I should thank you."
"You shouldn't. It was my victories that got you all involved with this…"
"Just like me." That catches his attention. "My name is Sergio. No matter what I did, I wasn't doing well. When I arrived in this town, I thought I could make a difference for myself and my family. I was good at dueling after all; I could show my kids a strong image of a father instead of that incapable loser. But… that was just an illusion of strength."
He gripes thinking about his loss. "I knew if I stayed eventually this would happen. That's when I realized the truth." Sergio looks at his hand. "I was looking for a place to die."
That resonates with Kiryu. "It was like that for all of us. Everyone here gave up on being saved… but for me, even in those mines, I kept hearing about a man who kept winning. They called you the Death Reaper… you weren't looking for a place to die. You still have a strong desire to live. Otherwise, you would have lost a long time ago."
Kiryu looks down, feeling those words deeply. The mines rumble a little for some reason. "What the?"
Elsewhere in the cave, Crow continues to drive. Lotten remains hot on his trail. He cockily slides down the corner, kicking dirt in his face. Angered, Lotten wipes the dirt away from his helmet before going faster. 'Damn you…'
"Lotten!" Malcolm comes up behind Lotten on his machine. "This punk giving you trouble?"
"Big brother…" An idea comes to Lotten seeing his family at his six. He says, "Push him into a corner. I have a plan."
"Okay!" Seeing his brother on board, Lotten pushes a switch. This allows his machine to extend legs to go high in the air. He then drives ahead of Crow, who can't believe what he's seeing. The machine descends, pinching Crow between two D-Wheels.
"You think I can't get out of this?" Crow shouts as he prepares a trick.
"Can you get out of this?" He holds up a stick of dynamite attached to a timer. He tosses it back at Crow and Malcolm.
"W-Wait! Lotten-"
The bomb goes off, blowing Lotten forward. He adjusts his machine to avoid crashing, before looking back. He comes to a full stop and spots the path closed off. A piece of the Blackbird's wings is shown sticking out of the dirt. Seeing it, Lotten laughs before driving off.
In reality, Crow is on the other side of the ground. The Blackbird is intact, albeit missing a wing, but he's injured. 'I think a rib's broken.' Still, that's better than Malcolm, whose blood and D-Wheel are shown buried on his side of the cave-in.
…
The noise becomes less apparent when more men follow after Kiryu, Sergio, and West. Their course changes, taking them into the depths of the cave. The rail spirals downward, with a gap shown where will fall to their deaths.
Sergio notes a lever. 'If we can reach that, we can change the course…' He pulls up a rock and stands up. "Kiryu, please do me a favor…"
"Sergio?"
"Look after my children." He faces West sympathetically. "I want to do one last good thing for them."
"What are you thinking?! Show them what you can do alive!"
"I'm fighting so I CAN live! So THEY can!" He looks down, waiting until they're directly above the switch. Despite his son's protest, he leaps down with a yell.
Sergio grabs hold of the lever and holds it in place, before taking the rock and breaking its remote control system. With all of his strength, he pushes the lever forward for the path of his child and savior. The shock collar activates, but he doesn't care. He pushes through with all of his power and locks the lever into place.
"West… Nico… live on proudly." Unable to resist the shocks any longer, he reluctantly loses control and falls.
As he disappears into the depths forever, West screams in despair. Tears well up in his eyes at what he knows is the last time he'll ever see his father again. Kiryu, touched by what he saw, can't believe it.
"That idiot! They're not gonna get away!"
The chasers turn into the mines where Kiryu went and meet a large block of wood that sends them flying. Once off, he beats them black and red. He then takes their D-Wheel and drives off with West.
As the boy cries, Kiryu comforts saying, "Don't cry for his death! Take inspiration from his actions. He died for you to live." He faces forward. "And I will show you as I live through his will."
He continues to drive until they see light down the end. At the exit is Lotten, holding up timed dynamite. The man snickers as he tosses it after already lighting it.
An explosion sends him and West flying out. The boy and Kiryu fall into a crevice after bumping on the side. The latter luckily catches the former before.
Lotten, feeling the explosion affect him, watches where they fall. "That takes care of him." He looks over deep into the mines. "I haven't seen Malcolm so he's gone. That means Crow is too. Even if he missed the explosion and avoided a direct hit, there's no way he can get out of that cave-in. All my problems are over with now."
Meanwhile, over with Barbara, she has Nico tied up in her place. She snickers staring at the unfortunate little girl, saying, "You and your brother were a great help. Once Lotten finds those two, they're dead."
"Are you gonna kill me too?"
"As if. Women like us are only useful at serving others. You'll be a slave here."
"You sound like you've given up." Her words must have some sort of weight because Barbara grabs Nico by her face.
"Maybe you should give up!"
Lotten's D-Wheel can be heard approaching the graveyard. Barbara grins seeing him without Kiryu. "Good. He's gone."
"That's right. The town mine now!" Lotten says with a fist raised.
"Don't you mean ours?" He gives Barbara the look when she asks that, the look that tells one not to complicate the truth. Cowardly, she replies, "S-Sorry."
After that, she ties Nico to his D-Wheel and they drive off.
…
Time passes over in the mountains. Kiryu awakens, still holding onto West. He checks him, asking, "West, are you okay?"
"Kiryu?" West awakens slowly, feeling pain from the fall.
Kiryu releases him as the two stand up. The two sullen males return to the graveyard, hoping to find Crow and Nico there. But alas, they find nothing. No one.
"Nico… Crow…" West whimpers, worried about what may have happened to the two he cares about.
Staring at the sight, Kiryu angrily tightens his fist. "Once more… once more, people around me suffer…"
He punches the ground in rage, almost brought to tears. "It doesn't have to be like that."
Both he and West look over and see a figure standing above them. His hair blows in the wind, the man is revealed to be Yusei Fudo. He looks down upon his friend smiling, asking, "Are you okay, Kiryu?"
"Yusei!" Kiryu says with heart.
Footsteps from behind Yusei come up, showing two other figures. The first is Crow, dirtied and in pain from earlier, and on the other side is Jack Atlas.
"You're looking sad, Kiryu Kyousuke. A far outcry from the man who tried to destroy the world." These are Jack's words, merciless in pointing out the past.
"Crow! You're okay!" West shouts, tears freely flying.
"Yeah, I was pretty lucky," Crow begins as he recalls the events, "the guy threw dynamite at me trying to get me and that other guy. But I braked and swerved behind Malcolm by going above him."
Crow then slides down to meet up with Kiryu. "You said you weren't okay with people saving you… how would you like to do some saving?"
Kiryu looks up at Crow as he holds a hand to him. "You want to make up for the things you did? Do the right thing for others. If that ain't a reason to live, then I don't know what is."
Listening, Kiryu reaches an epiphany; Crow and Sergio are right. He does still want to live. He reaches up and grabs Crow's outstretched hand. "Then let's."
He holds up the pendant West dropped during their descent, putting it around his neck. With life in his eyes, the reaper is back. "Kiryu Kyousuke is back. No longer living for myself, I'll take vengeance for those I've put here." All four members of Team Satisfaction stare down at the village. "Lotten, you better satisfy me."
The Next Dueling Hour…
As the sun begins to set, the many duelists in Lotten Town prepare for some action. Nico is tied to a post, having been forced to watch them being rowdy. A bottle flung through the air earlier and hit her in the leg, so she's sporting a limp.
"Why am I here? Aren't you going to drop me off at the mines?"
Lotten approaches the girl and uncomfortably cups her chin. He says to her, "You're too young to work the mines. So you're going to be a slave here, serving us. Of course, once you come of age you have a choice of toiling in the mines or entertaining us."
Nico cringes in worry. This must be what Barbara meant.
A whiplash catches my ears. Two bandannas are knocked to the ground. The whipper Barbara withdraws her weapon as she faces two of the duelists now lacking bandannas, cackling at the new prey.
"Miss Barbara, what are you doing?"
"We don't have any more use for useless fodder. If there's only one group in charge, we might as well send them off to work. You two will duel, and the loser becomes a mining slave." As Barbara decrees, men gather in a circle to entrap them.
"Wait! You can't do this! We're members of the Lotten gang!"
"Not anymore," Lotten speaks, backing up his babe. "Now, you heard what she said."
One of the guys says, "Guys, you don't have to listen to them! This could happen to you later!"
The others pause, thinking about the validity of his words. He has a good point. Lotten, true to the nickname he's gotten behind his back, is straight rotten. But they all fear him and his ability to turn on anyone and backstab. If they fight back, who knows what he'll do?
Their fears soon come to the forefront as music takes their ears. It is the sound of a harmonica, one everyone who has once been a member of Ramon's group recognizes. Barbara gasps when she recognizes it as well and faces the direction of the music. Coming into town amid the blowing wind is the reaper himself, Kiryu. He blows on the harmonica as he enters the scene.
Lotten angrily shouts, "You just won't stay dead, will you?!"
"What kind of death reaper would stay dead?" Kiryu pockets his harmonica. "I'm here to drag you to hell, and rescue Nico."
"Kiryu!" Nico cheers with hope, tears welling up seeing he's okay.
Looking around, the others back away and give Kiryu space. "Then again, this already looks like hell."
Eyes on Lotten, he continues, "Hey, dead guys, are you okay with this? Waiting in hell for your turn to be sacrificed?"
"You better not try anything! We've got a hostage." Barbara points over at Nico, reminding him of the situation.
"And you have a small amount of time until karma comes for you," he tells her, still facing Lotten coldly. "So how about settling things the way men do? You still want to kill me, right?"
Lotten eyes the death reaper. Even though he's outnumbered and held back by hostage leverage, he's still in over his head. How does he expect to win? 'No, this is fine. I can assert my dominance better by defeating the person everyone dubbed unkillable. And if he tries anything, this magnum will silence him.'
"Very well. It's time I killed you."
"No, Kiryu! Just take West and run!"
"Nico, that is fine. I promised your father I would protect you, and I intend to keep it." Kiryu straps on his duel disk pistol.
Barbara looks at Lotten with worry. "Are you okay with this?"
"It's just one man. Not to mention, it's almost duel time." He smirks before unveiling his pistol.
Both duel disks power up as they await duel time. The folks in town gather to watch. Tension builds as they wait. And soon…
"DUEL!"
Both strap on their duel disks, insert their decks and draw their starting hands. And unfortunately, Lotten is faster.
"Looks like I'm going to win."
"That's a fine handicap for you." Kiryu brushes his teal hair aside. "You better satisfy me."
Lotten: 4000
Kiryu Kyousuke: 4000
Lotten draws for his turn and adds it to his hand before summoning Gatling Ogre. "How is this for satisfaction? Gatling Ogre can set any number of set cards in my Magic & Trap zone to deal 800 points of damage."
At that, he sets all five cards before using his monster's effect to load them as bullets and fire. Kiryu is swiftly riddled with bullets, before being flung backward.
Kiryu: 0
Everyone in town looks in shock and terror at how fast Kiryu lost. Even Nico is in tears.
Lotten laughs at his victory. "Well, I hope that was satisfying. My First Turn Kill-Eh?!"
Looking at Kiryu, he spots the man has gotten back up. Even worse, the duel hasn't concluded. It still shows his score as 0. "What?! How is this possible?!"
A dark aura rises from his body, taking the form of a strange monster with eyes riddling its body.
Infernity Zero: 0/0 (1)
"Infernity Zero. When my life points reach zero due to a card effect, I discard all other cards except for it and special summon it in defense mode, and so long as it remains on the field, I do not lose if my life is at zero. However, whenever I take damage in intervals of 500, a Death Counter will accumulate. If I take 3, it is destroyed."
"Why the hell does such a monster exist?!" Kiryu laughs at that. "Oh, you think that's funny?! I banish Gatling Reloader in my graveyard!"
His trap card rises from the cemetery. "By banishing this card, I can set two cards that were sent to the graveyard this turn."
He sets two cards, eyes on Kiryu in anger. "Let's see you survive this!"
Click.
Before Lotten can finish him off, a silver gun points to his head. The gunman is a devil in a hollow mask with eyes on his chest dressed as Western as everyone else. Lotten freezes in place.
"Infernity Death Gunman. When my hand is at zero and I am about to take damage, I can banish him and negate that effect damage; then you have a choice. One of those choices is allowing me to reveal the top card of my deck; if it is a Monster, you take the damage I would have taken and all the damage I have received this turn. Otherwise, I receive that damage."
As Kiryu explains the effect of his card, sweat drips down Lotten's face. It's literally a Russian roulette card. And yet, Kiryu is undeterred. "You choose not to, you can't deal any more damage this turn."
Fearing the risk, Lotten says, "I won't."
"Coward." Death Gunman disappears, and Lotten ends his turn.
Kiryu draws his card and activates it. "I activate Infernity Launcher."
Seeing it, Lotten grits his teeth in rage. He could have won! "By sending this card to the graveyard, I special summon two Infernity Monsters in my graveyard. Come forth, Infernity Conjurer and Infernity Wildcat!"
Appearing now are two monsters; one is a witch wielding a Pagan fan and the other a flaming cat.
Wildcat: 1400/0 (3) Tuner
Conjurer: 1200/900 (3)
"Quickplay Magic card, Enemy Controller!" Conjurer is swiftly forced to take a knee. "Now your monster can't deal damage!"
"No, but while Infernity Conjurer is face up if my hand is 0, your monsters all lose 800 attack points."
As Gatling Ogre's power drops, Lotten angrily watches as that cat slays his Ogre with blazing claws.
Lotten: 2600
"Turn end."
"Don't think this is the end." Lotten draws for his turn before he activates it. "I activate Treasure Cards of Magic Burial."
Kiryu watches as three spells appear and fade into the abyss, allowing Lotten to draw two cards. "I then play the Magic Card Reasoning. You declare a monster level, and that allows me to filter cards from the top of my deck until I find a monster. If it matches that level, I special summon it. If not, it goes to the graveyard. And every card between joins it."
Kiryu narrows his eyes, thinking this will let him summon another Gatling Ogre. But, there's no way that's his only card. Still, he'll play it the common sense way. "I choose level 4."
Lotten pulls. He reveals Jar of Greed, Call of the Haunted, and then a monster. "Long-Barrel Ogre – level 7!"
He then summons his monster, a level 7 demon wielding a sniper barrel gun.
LBO: 0/3000 (7)
"Another annoying monster…" Kiryu realizes.
"Long-Barrel can destroy a monster, and you take damage equal to half its attack. It may be nothing to you, but your Infernity Zero needs 500 for a counter. So, I'm going to deal with you as such."
His monster aims Conjurer, before firing at the monster. It gets blown apart, and Kiryu takes the counter.
DC: 1
"And now for your cat!" Long-Barrel aims at the cat and fires.
"Trap card open; Infernity Suppression." The Wildcat lunges forward and smacks the bullet back at Lotten in surprise. "This card allows me to negate your effect and you take damage equal to your monster's level x 100."
The bullet hits Lotten, who cries out when he loses more life.
Lotten: 1900
"Damn you… turn end!" Lotten watches with rage as Kiryu is easily overcoming him. How is this possible!?
Kiryu draws before looking at his field. "I play Bullet and Cartridge. I'll send the top four cards of my deck to the graveyard to draw one card and place this card on top of my deck." He takes the top four and sends them to the grave.
As he does, Lotten spots it; the card he fears, Infernity Death Gunman. "If I draw this card after activating this effect, it's sent to the graveyard."
Kiryu then reveals his card. "I drew Necromancer." He summons the monster, a purple witch doctor who takes a kneeling position.
Necromancer: 0/2000 (3)
"Necromancer allows me to special summon an Infernity in my graveyard. Come out, Archer!" Infernity Archer returns to the field, staring down Long-Barrel Ogre.
"Oh, I know that card; trap card, Reverse Glasses!" A trap forms, making glasses form over all of Kiryu's monsters. "Until the end of the turn, your monsters all lose half of their attack points."
"Not bad. Too bad it won't matter. Wildcat can banish Dwarf from my graveyard, allowing me to reduce its level by 1."
As Dwarf fades away, the little cat reaches an appropriate level. "And, I can special summon Conjurer from the graveyard." In addition, Conjurer returns to the field.
"Next, I will tune my Wildcat, Necromancer, and Conjurer together." The cat meows before exploding into two rings, passing by the other two. "The dead and the living… the moment they meet at zero, the demonic dragon will be released from the cage of eternity. Synchro Summon – come forth…" Kiryu stretches his arms out as he summons his best monster from the black smoke. The hideous monster solidifies as it lays all of its many eyes upon Lotten. "Infernity Death Dragon!"
"That card…" Lotten looks at it, actually afraid of Kiryu's field. "Death Dragon, Infernity Death Breath!"
"Not so fast! Magic Coat!" Lotten's trap card protects his monster from the smog, showing Long-Barrel Ogre in silver-plated protective armor.
"Then, I'll simply attack directly." His monster takes aim and fires, hitting Lotten in his shoulder.
Lotten: 900
"Well, looks like you'll be seeing Hell pretty soon. Turn end."
Lotten angrily grips his fists, afraid he won't be able to come out on top. Even the group looks in shock thinking Lotten might lose.
"Enough of this!" Barbara aims her whip at Nico. "This duel is over! Drop your cards now!"
"Barbara?"
"Let's be real everyone; the winner was decided from the beginning. This is Lotten's town!" she says, her fear taken over.
"You're going to forsake the rules of dueling?!" says the carriage driver.
"Who cares about the rules?!" Barbara glares at the others. "What's so great about dueling? We're the owners of this town! What we say goes! So hurry up and forfeit, Kiryu!"
"No, don't do it!" Nico shouts, not caring about herself. "Don't give up like these people!"
Barbara raises her whip. "What did I say about that?!"
"No… screw this." Two of the men aim their guns at Babs. She gasps seeing her men turning against them. All of them rip off their bandannas and toss them into the dirt.
"The kid's right. We shouldn't give up. We're not tools for you to use and throw away!"
At that, Kiryu smiles seeing everyone has gotten their backbones returned. But this joy is short-lived when he hears gunfire. Those two holding Barbara at gunpoint are on the ground, blood leaking out their skulls. Lotten withdraws his real magnum.
"There's only four left, but that's more than enough to get my point across," says Lotten in a dark way.
"You…" Kiryu's anger reaches a boiling point. "Are you going to besmirch the name of dueling? And you call yourself a duelist!"
He smirks, baring his teeth at him. "I call myself a realist." He then aims at Kiryu. "You may think the world is run by a card game, but your fate was sealed the second you challenged me. This is my town, and what I say goes."
As the firing pin comes down, it's knocked out of his hand. He looks down at the Black-Feather card that knocked it out of his hand. "That card!"
"What, did you think I was dead too?!" Up above stands Crow, arms crossed cockily.
Seeing him, Lotten reaches for his pistol. But that's when a hand grabs the gun, and quickly dismantles it before him using a small pin as a tool. Yusei drops the handle after finishing. "Guns aren't for children, or adults with the minds of children."
"Damn it!" Cornered, Barbara panics and grabs hold of Nico.
"Let her go, Barbara. It's over," says Crow to her.
"No! If I give up now, I'll have nothing!" A hand grips her shoulder.
She turns around quickly and is decked in the face by Jack Atlas. With Nico freed, she rushes to her brother. The former King declares, "Anyone who harms children doesn't deserve to be treated as a lady!"
A smile slowly grows on Kiryu's face. It's what he's always wanted in the past. "This is the greatest! Team Satisfaction is reunited!"
"Kiryu," Yusei says as he joins up with him, followed by Crow and Jack, "we weren't going to interfere until he decided to cheat his way out. After the calls we made, it's all over now."
"Calls?"
Back at the cave, Security has arrived and is doing their jobs. All of Lotten's men are arrested, and the slaves are freed. It's a successful operation led by Ushio.
Out of options, Lotten reaches for his back pocket and pulls out a switch before pressing it. This causes explosions to riddle the town, covering the area in smoke. "I'll be damned if I'm caught now!"
He heads for his D-Wheel to make a break. While he does, Barbara still on the ground grabs his leg with one hand while the other is used for coughing. "W-Wait. Take me with y-" Mercilessly, he kicks her square in the face. Blood splatters the dirt as she hits it hard, with Lotten getting away.
Kiryu faces Crow, saying, "Crow, your D-Wheel!"
"He's all yours!" Crow responds without hassle.
Covering his mouth in the mist, Kiryu goes straight for the Blackbird and boards it. Helmet on, he drives straight after Lotten intending to finish this up. The chase leads out of town, the setting sun on their right. He eventually catches Lotten by taking flight and leaping out to tackle him out of the seat. Dirt covers their forms as they roll until stopping, Kiryu on top throwing his helmet off.
"You're a persistent death god, you know that?!"
"You may be a realist, but until the duel's over you're a duelist," he states, eyes narrowed focusing in on the thug. "So, I'll give you this… you win, I'll let you get away."
"Why the hell would I-" Before the rest of the sentence can leave his lips, he remembers how the turn went. Lotten still has Long Barrel Ogre, and if he uses that effect Kiryu will use Death Gunman. But, that magic card is on top of his deck, so that means the effect will backfire.
It's a sure win. "Deal."
The two stand face to face, returning to the duel state before Barbara interfered. "I believe it was my turn."
Immediately, he uses Long-Barrel Ogre to snipe Infernity Death Dragon. As it is blown to kingdom come, the bullet stops in midair before turning around at Kiryu. As he expects, it misses and a gun is held to the side of his head.
Holding the pistol is Infernity Death Gunman. "As you remember, Infernity Death Gunman's effect activates by banishing itself when I would receive effect damage. The damage is reduced to 0, and you choose two effects."
"Yeah. I know how this works. And you know what, I choose for you to draw." Lotten snickers evilly as Kiryu pulls up the card from his deck. That snickering turns into full-blown laughter. "YOU LOSE, REAPER!"
"Monster card – Infernity Climber." He reveals the card as something completely different. "When I activated Infernity Death Gunman's effect, I chained with Climber's effect. When my hand is at 0, I can return this card to the top of my deck."
Lotten's eyes widen in terror. He fell for a long con. "YOU SON OF A-"
BANG
A heavy thud resounds from Lotten dropping face forward. With that, the duel is finally over. As is this conflict. "Finally… it took a while, but I'm finally satisfied."
…
With everything finished up, Lotten is taken away along with Barbara. The latter inches away from the former after what he did to her. Maybe what Crow said is true. The rest of the town rebuilds, with help from the former Lotten gang. Ushio is fine with it since they confirmed turning on Lotten before their arrival.
And Kiryu? He is with West and Nico as Yusei, Jack, and Crow are together. Yusei asks, "Are you sure you want to stay?"
"I do. I want to help fix this place up, and be there for West and Nico." The two siblings nod in support of his decision.
"Well, at least we'll know where you'll be now," Jack says trying not to show that he cares.
Kiryu glances down at Crow. "Crow…"
The Bullet turns up. "Thank you for saving me."
"Yeah… I guess I did." He extends a fist and the two bump.
After saying their goodbyes, Yusei, Jack, and Crow leave aboard their D-Wheels returning to Neo Domino City. While leaving, they pass by the entrance as two guys are changing the sign. It now reads the new name of the town – Satisfaction Town.
Lightz: Thanks for reading this chapter. With this, Crashtown is concluded. Next chapter, we get a look at what Aki has been up to. Either that or Yusei receives a visit from Misty.
