egduardiazsluber: Savior Fairy Dragon is a new card I made up. It wasn't based on another existing OC card. I even looked it up after you mentioned it, and the two effects are completely different.

Oh, and no. Paradox being a woman was not for fanservice. As tempting as that is, there's an in-universe explanation for why she is the gender I made her.

Petor: It wasn't easy. I hope you liked the changes and shoutouts I slipped in.

Chapter 30 – Team 5D's

It's an amazing day for the Signers. Yusei, Jack, Crow, and Bruno are together in a garage as workers lower a special type of engine inside of their D-Wheels.

"By implementing the data we received from you, we were able to construct these new engines finally," speaks the current chairman of Bolger & Company working on the machines. "This is the result."

"I can't believe we're actually here…" says Crow as he stares at the data screen.

"Now we can use our program to the fullest," speaks Yusei with a smile.

While staring, Crow looks over at the chairman with sympathetic eyes. "Is it okay for you to do this for us? Especially after what I did?"

"It's less what you did, and more what Bolger did," says the man with a stern look.

A week after Yusei's time traveling, Crow learned a connection between the death of the original owner of the Blackbird and his Black-Feather deck Pearson and a card called Blood Mefist which could manifest damage. He spoke with Pearson's friend, Bolger of Bolger & Company, who simply wanted him to let it go. But, Bolger also wanted Crow's D-Wheel and a card he didn't have, Blackfeather Dragon, and challenged him to a duel for it.

That was how Crow learned Bolger had killed Pearson since he possessed Blood Mefist. Through conversation where Bolger tried to frame Pearson as a selfish man who had delayed their progress, a password was spoken which unlocked a secret compartment on the Blackbird allowing Crow to use Blackfeather Dragon. With it, Crow realized what Pearson was trying to do, and defeated Bolger. His loss awoke guilt within the man, and he turned himself in.

And now, we are in the aftermath. "Yes. Because of that incident, the president is no longer with us… but, to atone, he left an order for us to help you."

"Didn't you dismiss him?" asks Jack, knowing the severity of the murder.

"A sin is a sin, but we don't hold that over him. He loved the D-Wheel that much…"

The D-Wheels are complete within hours, and the crew brings their updated machines back to the garage.

"Yusei!" Lua and Luca burst through the doors to find Yusei, Jack, Crow, and Aki all dressed in their new and improved riding suits. The male twin asks, "Are the D-Wheels finally ready?!"

"They are," he replies while adjusting his gloves.

"We even got these new suits done in time too," says Crow while pretending to dust off his collar.

"I'm not used to wearing these clothes. I'd rather wear what I have," Jack complains with closed eyes.

"Then don't blow our wads on stupid shit!" Crow shouts at him, remembering the frivolous things he wasted on.

Luca stares at the symbol on Yusei's jacket, noticing the collar. "Five Ds?"

"It's the name of our team."

"What does the D stand for?" asks Lua this time.

"Oh, well obviously the five ds are Death, Destiny-"

Jack pushes Bruno aside to correctly answer her. All he does is show her the Mark of the Wings.

"The five birthmarks of the Crimson Dragon?" she asks for clarity.

Yusei nods. "The five of us were called together by the five marks of the Crimson Dragon, so it's only appropriate that our team is named because of us."

"I may not have a birthmark, but everyone on this team is as important as the other. Nobody is carrying anyone." Crow nudges Yusei as he says these words, knowing he'd be the one to shoulder the responsibility of victory.

Uniting as one, the seven of them hold their hands together to christen their new team name. "Together, we are Team 5D's!"

With their team name branded, Team 5D's checks the board over in the center of Neo Domino City. Here, the preliminary rounds are already set up. The time is nigh.

Luca looks for their names on the board, saying, "It's like the preliminaries are a league of their own."

"32 teams have entered," says Aki while looking. Having found their team, she's looking for someone else. "There are eight blocks with four teams inside of them. The ones in each block compete in a league, and the top two in each league get to enter, reducing the competition by half to 16."

"So we have to win at least two duels to make it…" Bruno states with a cupped chin.

"Huh?" Lua checks their upcoming team. "It looks like we're up against Team Unicorn."

"Neh. Didn't we meet them before?" asks Luca while staring.

"It was during the party where Dark Glass appeared," says Yusei, remembering the time he faced the expert Accel Duelist. "Duelists who won the Atlantis Cup will clearly be some of the strongest candidates…"

"Don't act like we're underdogs in this," Jack declares with confidence. "We only have to go in this full force."

"Guys, it's almost time for the practice." In Bruno's words, the three main riders go down to drive in the practice lane. The others go to the stands to watch. As the quartet of helpers comes down the stairs, they notice with surprise that Ushio is there.

As he explains that he's there for accidents since the auto-pilot is off, Team 5D's riders pass by. The new engine system is going perfectly.

Crow smirks as he prepares to increase acceleration. "Let's test the speed, guys!"

The trio of brothers almost glide above the tracks testing their new and improved vehicles. As their time to practice comes to an end, they prepare to exit.

"Wait! I wanna go by one more pass! The other guys won't be on the track soon anyway." Except Crow, who continues to drive ignoring the others.

Returning to the center, he doesn't notice someone else getting on the track. "Huh? Ah, shit-"

Crash!

The Blackbird ends up bumping into the other D-Wheel, knocking him over. He also sends the other guy flying, destroying the fancy displays of his D-Wheel.

"Breo, you okay?!" asks one of the riders as he goes to him.

"Yeah. I'm fine, Andre," speaks the guy on the ground.

"Sorry about that! I thought we had more time." Crow apologizes as he approaches them, but Jean isn't having it.

"The hell do you think you're doing?!"

"I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to do anything."

"You think I'll believe that?!" Jack comes in trying to break up the fight. "It's our time to practice now. I'm pretty sure you're supposed to have left already!"

"Sorry. One of us was a little too zealous," Yusei says as he joins in.

"Yeah, right. A lot of people are against us. How do I know this ain't sabotage?! I'm reporting you bums!"

"Breo, it's fine. He's not too hurt…" says Andre as he approaches him, removing his helmet.

It's here that Yusei and the others finally realize who they have been talking to, the members of Team Unicorn. Crow goes to Breo, apologizing for what he's done.

"Nah, it's fine. I'm just glad I can still compete."

"Still, we kinda ruined your D-Wheel."

"Well, that's cosmetic. Accessories. We can put that right back on."

"I don't know if we can just let that go…" Yusei says this, and Andre smirks knowingly.

"Hm. Since you're offering, we do have one thing you can give us…" Andre approaches Yusei. "How about a friendly spar?"

"A duel?" Yusei looks back at his teammates, before smiling. "Sure."

As they get into place, Breo and Jean start to record from their section. The former says, "This will be great."

"It was risky on your part, but our trap got what we wanted; a chance to see Yusei duel up close and personal." Jean watches as the two begin their duel.

It plays rather interestingly. While Yusei manages to get a one-up, Andre's dueling style is almost the same despite using a Power Beast deck. Both are doing genius plays. Even as Andre gets the advantage, he manages to keep it until the end when Yusei summons Stardust Dragon. Sadly, the timer runs out before he can deplete the rest of his life.

With the duel concluded, the two regroup with their teams and each other to shake hands.

"Nice play," says Andre.

"You too," says Yusei as he shakes.

"Let's settle this in the tournament." The three of them take off, leaving Team 5D's left behind.

Yusei, even though they're gone, can't stop thinking about them. Their team may be their biggest rivals. 'We'll need to face their power with ours.'

Six Days Later…

With the World Riding Duel Grand Prix in less than two weeks, Team 5D's is doing its best to prepare in their way. Crow is testing the limits of the Blackbird. Jack is out drinking expensive coffee. Bruno and the twins are planning their pit crew routines.

Aki and Yusei are out by the docks testing the Yusei Go's speed. With a timer up, she calculates his speed as he passes her. "That's a new record!"

"You're both working pretty hard, aren't you?"

The teenage girl turns around as a familiar voice catches her ears. She spots a woman approaching them with a black and green umbrella. She wears a plain black V shirt underneath a jean jacket with a sticker that has the Percy Jackson symbol on it. Her pants are dark green with spots on them similar to a snake and her feet are in dress boots. She has shades on, but her long, midnight hair is unmistakable.

"Misty?!" Aki realizes as the woman approaches, who holds a finger to her lips.

"Try to keep it down. I only have a few hours of free time, and a lot of my fans tend to stalk me when I am." She watches as Yusei comes up.

"Misty?" he asks when he sees her remove her shades. "What brings you here?"

She smirks, a rather uncomfortable way that Aki has seen Mikage and Carly give Jack. It's also similar to how Sherry smiles at Yusei, which gives the redhead a bad feeling. It only intensifies when Misty asks, "Are you free tomorrow? I have something important I wanted to tell you."

"Um… sure. I don't mind," he replies, pulling at Aki's heartstrings.

"Thank you so much. It's a date then."

"A WHAT?!" Guess who?

Lightz: And that ends this chapter. (burps) It's short, but I couldn't bother putting in two duels that didn't need to be different or displayed as different. And unlike the Goodwin duel, it didn't include a special monster.

But now, we're getting close to the WRGP. Just one more chapter and I can finally fix that duel. Until then, enjoy this short prelude to the next chapter featuring Crow's date and Yusei's date. And then, a third date will be unveiled.
