Hello, hello! So I thought I had already uploaded this chapter... ; Yeah, not very happy about it. Also, I was incorrect in thinking Nova's BFF showed up in this chapter, but she DEFINITELY will be showing up NEXT chapter I promise!

Thank you SO much for the faves and follows! You don't know how much it means to me! 3

Nova whirled, throwing the wind that was gathered around her arm past the Captain towards an approaching alien.

It screeched, falling backwards.

As it sat up Nova shot it in the head.

Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere, nauseating Nova.

She turned and retched up her lunch, groaning as she avoided looking at the gruesome scene.

Nova wiped her mouth.

"Wish I had some mouthwash right about now." Nova said grimacing at the acrid taste.

Nova glanced up as flames spurted out from another street.

"Those are FireSpeakers, don't worry, they're on our side." Nova's teeth chattered.

"Are you cold?" Natasha asked.

"It's the side effect of my ability, the wind leeches the warmth away, but having a lot of skin contact helps me keep more wind." She shrugs, "as long as I don't overexert myself I'll be fine."

"The key word is overexert. Be careful." Natasha said.

"I will."

Nova's gaze went up to the portal in the sky. "How are we going to close it?"

"As of now, we aren't sure."

"Alright, I'll help from above." Nova said.

Nova focused, closing her eyes and attracting all nearby wind to her.

"I should get this on camera," Natasha joked.

Nova gave her a crooked grin and called out over the wind, "there's always next time!" She joked.

"Let's hope that next time isn't like this." Natasha called.

Nova laughed as her feet began lifting off the ground, and she saluted Captain America and Natasha.

The fight was difficult, and Nova had many close calls, but when she spotted Loki, she took off like a vengeful Fury ready to beat the shit out of him.

Before she could, a flying alien shot her out of her updraft and she went tumbling head over foot to the ground.

She grunted as she slammed into something hard, turning her head and seeing that Tony Stark had caught her.

"Hang on, don't you work in my Tower?"

"No shit Sherlock! Just set me down and I'll get back to fighting!" Nova's teeth chattered, and she couldn't quite feel her hands and feet anymore.

"Alright, alright! I'll set you down."

Nova stumbled as she was set down, thoughts jumbled at the mind numbing cold in her bones.

She fought as best she could, growing colder and colder.

She cried out as her arm was singed by a grazing shot, and she whirled before she saw the alien fall.

She sent out all the wind to find Natasha and Captain America.

Running on pure adrenaline, she followed the wind that had found them, wincing at each breath she took. She probably broke a rib or two when Tony caught her.

"Windspeaker!" Thor called from the distance.

Nova looked up.

It was hot, her body burning up.

The adrenaline was gone now.

She squinted, confused.

Why was everything tilting?

She couldn't quite move her legs.

In a daze, she collapsed to the ground.

She saw Thor talking to her, but she really couldn't understand.

He wrapped her up tightly in his… cape?

She grumbled something about being too hot, but she really couldn't wiggle free.

Nova heard muffled talking but she wasn't able to focus on it.

She was tired, her eyes rolling into the back of her head.

Someone slapped her face roughly, bringing her back from the brink of sleep.

Natasha glared down at her, "you need to stay awake."

Someone mumbled something about taking care of Loki, and inwardly Nova agreed.

Nova gave her an exasperated look, "M' hot, n' tired. Thor get me out of this," she groaned.

"I'm sorry, Windspeaker, this is for your health."

Nova's eyes closed again, and any attempts to wake her failed.
