Episode 3: Duel in the Desert
(Play Kingdom Valley - Lakeside from Sonic 06 for this section.)
Gary's Fearow was flying him and Misty in the air through the mountains, while Team Rocket's Pokémon started to attack them.
Gary: Fearow, use Wing Attack!
Fearow uses Wing Attack and the grunts and their Pokémon were sent blasting off.
Misty: Good job.
Gary: Thank you.
Misty: Anyways, about this place, I read about it a little while ago.
Gary: Yeah. It's a far away place to set the extraction point.
Misty: This is Kingdom Valley. Long ago, there was a Royal castle here.
Gary: I see.
As Fearow used it's wing attack, they defeated more of Team Rocket's personnel and it flies Gary and Misty to the next part of Kingdom Valley.

Meanwhile, Ash, Max, Pikachu and Munchlax were walking through the town.
Max: I can't believe we didn't save the Princess.
Ash: Don't worry, Max. We'll save her.
They approached an old man, who was the governor of the city.
Max: Excuse me, do you know where Team Rocket is?
Governor: Team Rocket? I don't have time for that right now. Please, come back later. A little girl got up on a roof somehow and can't get down.
Ash: What?!
They then heard a girl crying.
Max: What was that?
Ash: Sounds like the girl he was talking about.
They then noticed that a crowd of people were looking at the crying girl.
Max: What's going on?
Random Woman: That little girl is up there crying for an hour and she hasn't even come down yet.
Max: What?
Girl's Mother: My daughter... my daughter...
Ash: Don't worry. I'll get her down.
Girl's Mother: Please do!
Ash: I could call out Swellow, but it's still exhausted from the speed it went while we were chasing that battleship.
Max: Oh... So how are you gonna get up there?
A boy approached them and releases a Pidgeotto.
Boy: You can use my Pidgeotto to fly up there.
Ash: Thanks Kid. Come on, Max.
Max: Okay.
They got on the Pidgeotto and it flies them to the top of the building where the crying girl was. When they made it to the top, they got off and approached the girl.
Ash: Hey. Are you alright?
Crying Girl: I'm sorry to make you worry... (Sniff) I heard Team Rocket was going to the desert, so I just wanted to keep watch from a high place.
Ash: It's okay. We're here, and we're gonna get you down.
Crying Girl: Thank you. You're a lifesaver!
Ash: You're welcome. Now get on Pidgeotto so we can get off this building.
After they got off the building, a lot of people praised Ash and Max for saving the girl.
Governor: Thank you so much for saving the girl!
Ash: It was no problem. And kid, here's your Pidgeotto back.
Boy: Thanks.
Max: Hey Ash. You used to have a Pidgeotto, right?
Ash: Yup. It was the second Pokémon I ever caught.
Max: That's amazing. Anyways, let's head to the desert.
Ash: Good idea. (They noticed Team Rocket's Pokémon attacking.) Max, wait here. I'll handle them.
Max: Okay.
He left to fight them off.
With Diego and May...
Diego: Maybe I'll talk to some people in the town. (He approaches the Governor.) Excuse me. Have you seen a boy with a Pikachu?
Governor: Yeah. He just saved a little girl.
May: Wait. You're looking for a boy with a Pikachu?
Diego: Yes.
May: I know a boy with a Pikachu. He's a close friend of mine. I'll take you to him.
Diego: Okay. Great!
But suddenly, Team Rocket's personnel attacked and everyone started screaming.
May: Not them again!
Diego: I've gotta help them!
May: I'm with you!
After they release their Pokémon, they begin to battle Team Rocket and their Pokémon.

Gary's Fearow lands near a gate and Gary returns it to it's Pokéball.
Misty: Looks like we need 3 keys for this door. I'll go find them. You wait here.
Gary: Okay Misty. Be careful.
Misty: Okay. (Misty releases Politoed and it swims her to the platform where the first key is.) One down, two to go. (She grabs the key and puts it in her pocket, and then Politoed takes her to the next platform where the next key is.) Time to get the second key. (The Team Rocket Grunts get in her way and she releases all of her Pokémon. After a long battle, the grunts were defeated.) Now grab the key.
She grabs it and left.
Grunt 1: Damn that girl!
Grunt 2: Yeah!
Politoed takes Misty to the final platform where the last key was located. She sees it in a box.
Misty: This will be too easy.
A flamethrower was shot down at her and she dodges it.
Grunt 3: Beat me in a battle and you can have the box!
Misty: Okay!
After a long battle, she defeated the grunt and grabbed the final key. She then made it back to Gary and unlocked the gate.
Gary: Okay. Thanks Misty. I'll take the lead from here.
Misty: You're welcome. Let's go!
Gary: Blastoise, come on out! (Blastoise comes out of its Pokéball and gets in the water. Gary gets on it.) Take me to the next part of this valley!
Blastoise swims through the water with Misty and Politoed behind them while dodging Team Rocket's Pokémon attacks. As soon as he made it, he puts Blastoise back in its Pokéball and releases Fearow. He and Misty got on Fearow and it flies them to the next part of the valley.

Gary's Fearow is carrying him and Misty to the final part of the valley.
Gary: What a place to choose for an extraction point.
Misty: I know. (Fearow continues to fly through the valley while the Team Rocket grunts aren't looking. But then, Team Rocket's Personnel approaches them in the air behind them on their flying type Pokémon. They unleashed their attacks on them and they managed to dodge.) We have got to outfly them!
Gary: I know! Misty, try releasing your Politoed!
Misty: Okay! Politoed, come on out and use Hydro Pump!
Politoed was released and uses Hydro Pump on the grunts following them. They then dodged and used flying type moves. Fearow then caught Politoed.
Gary: Those guys just don't give up!
Misty: Are we almost at the extraction point?
Gary: Yeah. We'll be meeting up with your sisters so they can take you back home.
Misty: Okay.
They are close to the extraction point and they are surrounded by Team Rocket Grunts.
Gary: Misty!
Misty: On it!
They both release their Pokémon and after a really long battle, the grunts were sent blasting off into the sky again.
Gary: Let's keep going on foot!
Misty: Okay!
They return all of their Pokémon to their Pokéballs and continue their journey to the extraction point on foot.
Back at Madera Castle Town, Ash returns to Max.
Max: Did you defeat them all?
Ash: Yeah. Now let's go save the Princess.
Max: Okay.
The duo, along with Pikachu and Munchlax start to make their way to the desert.
Meanwhile with Diego and May, they defeated the Team Rocket Grunts.
Governor: Thank you for saving us!
Diego: No problem.
May: Anyways, let's head to the desert.
Diego: Good idea.
They then head to the desert.
Later in the afternoon at the desert, inside a chamber of ancient ruins, Amelia is sitting. She then gets a thought that she remembered from the past.
Duke: You're a good girl, Amelia. Remember, be brave. Don't cry no matter what happens.
Ash, Max, Pikachu and Munchlax break into the room. Ash comes in and Max waves his hand.
Princess Amelia: Mr. Ash!
Ash: Just call me Ash. (Amelia hugs Ash.) Now then, are you OK?
Princess Amelia: I-I'm so glad that you came...
Ash: I always keep my word.
Max: Ash!
Ash: What is it, Max?
They all noticed the Growlithe mech. Coming out of it were the Team Rocket Trio.
Jessie: Prepare for trouble in this Dusty Desert!
James: From beyond the stars, three genius experts!
Jessie: An evil as old as the galaxy...
James: ...sent here to fulfill our destiny!
Meowth: Plus, there's me!
Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James: To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie: Jessie!
James: And James!
Meowth: And Meowth are the names!
Jessie: Anywhere there's peace in the universe...
James: ...Team Rocket...
Meowth: ...Will be there...
All: To make everything worse!
Wobbuffet: Wobbuffet!
Mime Jr.: Mime Mime Mime!
Ash: Team Rocket!
Max: We should've known you three were behind all of this!
Jessie: It looks like some pesky rats has stuck its noses where it doesn't belong. Well, some twerps to be more precise... The Princess is ours until we unlock the secret of the Flames of Disaster.
Ash: Max, protect the Princess! I'll handle them!
Max: Got it! Let's go!
(Play Boss: Egg Cerberus and Egg Genesis from Sonic 06 for this section)
Ash and Pikachu are in the desert arena about to face the mech.
Ash: We are gonna make sure you don't hurt the Princess!
Pikachu: (Angry) Pika Pika!
Jessie: (In the mech) I don't think so! Attack!
The mech was about to charge towards them.
Max: Ash, get Pikachu to slam the mech into something!
Ash: Okay! Pikachu, use Iron Tail on that mech!
Pikachu's tail becomes steel and then the attack slams the mech into a stone statue, dealing twice as damage.
Princess Amelia: Go Ash!
Max: He's really awesome.
Princess Amelia: I appreciate how he doesn't let Team Rocket push him around.
Max: Yeah. Ash has always faced off against those three and won every time.
Princess Amelia: That's so cool.
Max: Have you thought about going on a Pokémon journey? I'm just wondering.
(Play Just Smile from Sonic 06 for this part.)
Princess Amelia: No. I may be the same age as Ash, but I don't feel like traveling. I have a duty to fulfill as a Princess. But I do have a Swellow of my own. It belonged to my dad, but he gave it to me before he passed away. I was a 5 year old when he died. He was trying to contain the flames when they spiraled out of control. And when I came in there, he shielded me and the moment it exploded, he was gone. I'm never gonna see him again.
Max was beginning to cry after hearing her story, but he wipes the tears out of his eyes.
Max: I'm so sorry for your loss. It sucks that your dad is dead.
Princess Amelia: I know. But before he died, he did tell me to never cry, otherwise the flames of disaster will come out and destroy the entire world. It has been 5 years since my dad passed away and I miss him so much.
She begins to mourn for her deceased father and Max comforts her.
Max: It's okay. I'm sure your Dad is up in the clouds watching you. I'm sure he's proud of you for ruling Madera. You have so many people to help you out. You are the reason why everybody in Madera is having peaceful lives. If you keep this up, you'll be known as the greatest monarch this town ever had, and your dad will be very proud.
Princess Amelia: Thanks, Max. You're the best.
He smiles.
(Play Boss: Egg Cerberus and Egg Genesis from Sonic 06 again for the rest of this section.)
The mech begins dodging Pikachu's attacks and attacks him.
Ash: Pikachu!
Team Rocket laugh as they are continuing to attack Pikachu.
Meowth: Face it, Twerp! That Pikachu is good as ours now!
James: Yeah, and as soon as we crush you, the secret to the Flames of Disaster are ours!
They laugh hard as Pikachu gets back up.
Ash: Pikachu, can you still fight? (Pikachu was determined to keep going.) Okay! Now use Thunderbolt! (Pikachu uses thunderbolt on the mech and it shocks Team Rocket due to the armor being destroyed.) Now use Iron Tail!
Pikachu uses Iron Tail and slams the robot into the other stone statue, and the mech explodes, sending the trio flying.
Jessie: We lost again!
James: Those twerps are gonna wait! We will unlock the secrets to the Flames of Disaster!
Meowth: And we won't rest until we get it!
All Three: Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!
Wobbuffet and Mime Jr. said their names before a shine flashes in the sky.
Later, a large hoard of Team Rocket Grunts and their Pokémon are walking towards somewhere, possibly towards Ash, Max and Amelia.
Ash: How long is this going to go on?
Max: Let's split up. I'll get their attention, and you take the Princess.
Ash: Are you sure? I don't want them doing anything bad to you or May's gonna kill me.
Max: Don't worry, Ash. Munchlax will protect me. Right?
Munchlax nods and then Ash nods and turns his head towards Max.
Ash: Okay. You be careful, Max.
Max: Just leave it to me! Come on, Munchlax! (Munchlax nods and he and Max run off and approach the grunts. Max and Munchlax make taunting faces at the grunts and their Pokémon.) Ha ha! You can't catch us!
He sticks his tongue at them and they were angry.
Grunt: You little brat! Now you're gonna get it!
Max: You have to catch us first!
He and Munchlax ran off laughing as the grunts and the Pokémon began chasing after them.
Ash: Hold on tight!
Princess Amelia: Ok!
She releases her Swellow.
Ash: You have Swellow too?
Princess Amelia: Yup. Swellow, take me and Ash far away from this desert!
Amelia's Swellow nods and it begins to fly her and Ash.
(Play Dusty Desert - Quicksand from Sonic 06 for this section)
Amelia's Swellow was flying Ash and Amelia.
Ash: Amelia, hold on tight!
Princess Amelia: Okay!
The Team Rocket Grunts and Pokémon chased after them. Amelia's Swellow continues to fly them through the desert.
Ash: I still got you Princess. Don't worry.
Princess Amelia: Thanks Ash.
Ash: Pikachu, use thunderbolt on Team Rocket!
Pikachu uses thunderbolt and it sends Team Rocket grunts and their Pokémon blasting off again.
Princess Amelia: Thanks Ash!
Ash: No problem.
Swellow continues to fly them through the quicksand filled desert and it flies them high in the air and then they are about to make it to the exit.
Princess Amelia: We're almost out!
Ash: Hold on!
Amelia's Swellow flies them out of the desert.
Meanwhile, May and Diego are at the desert oasis.
May: Are you sure the guy you're looking for is here?
Diego: Yes. I'm sure. (He then sighs.) What am I doing?
May: Don't worry. Before I continue training for the Grand Festival, I'll help you find who you're looking for, Diego.
Diego shakes his head and thinks for a moment, then looks up.
Diego: This looks so beautiful.
May: What? You mean this desert?
Diego: Everything is so great here, isn't it? The sky is gorgeous, and everyone's happy...
May: Huh?
Diego: Let's go. The guy I'm looking for can't be far from here.
May nods, and they both run off through the desert.
(Play Dusty Desert - The Ruins from Sonic 06 for this section)
Diego: Just you wait, Azrael Trigger! (He is inside the ruins of the desert and Altaria uses Dragon Pulse to blast the door open. They make their way through several rooms.) Where is he?!
May: Don't worry. We'll find him.
Diego: Thanks. How about you take the lead from here?
May: Okay. (She starts to take the lead and they continue to make their way through the ruins.) Come on out, Combusken! (Combusken was released from its Pokéball. They then make their way through the ruins and then they saw numerous Team Rocket grunts and their Pokémon, they all start to attack them with their moves, but they dodge.) I'll handle this! Combusken, use Fire Spin! (Combusken uses Fire Spin and it hits Team Rocket and their Pokémon. Some were instantly defeated while others continued.) Diego, I'll hold them off! You keep going! I'll catch up.
Diego: Okay May. Thank you. (He keeps going through numerous rooms until he noticed a big ball puzzle he needs to solve.) What the hell is this? Doesn't matter! I'll solve this! Come on out, Gardevoir! (Gardevoir was released from her Pokéball.) Gardevoir, use Psychic on the ball! (Gardevoir uses Psychic on the ball and it was put in the final hole in the room to open the door.) Perfect! Now to head to the exit!
Diego made his way to the exit of the ruins.
May: Wait! (May quickly approached him.) Sorry I took so long.
Diego: It's fine. Let's just go.
May: Good idea.
Both of them start to make their way to the exit of the ruins.
Back at Kingdom Valley, Gary and Misty enter the open ruins of a great hall.
Misty: The former king of Madera used to reside in this castle. But a major accident occurred 5 years ago, and no one's lived here since.
Gary: Accident?
Misty: I heard a prototype energy engine failed, which caused the accident. I think the name of the plan was...
The Team Rocket trio drop down from the air in their hot air Meowth balloon.
Jessie: The Solaris Project. It was an ambitious project named after their eternal sun god.
Misty: Team Rocket!
Gary: Not you creeps again!
James: It's been a while, red-headed Twerpette. And of course, this twerp. Now, if you'd be so kind as to hand back the Scepter of Darkness you took from us.
Meowth: Otherwise, we'll take it by force!
Misty: You guys aren't getting it, so go away!
Jessie: I knew you were gonna say that.
She does a call out whistle and the Team Rocket Grunts and their Pokémon surround Gary and Misty who dodge a blast from one of them. As Misty back up, Jessie uses the mechanical hand to uppercut her in the air with her team's balloon, causing her to drop the Scepter of Darkness. Gary saves Misty.
James: Oh no!
Meowth: Someone grab it!
The Scepter of Darkness shatters against the ground and the grunts and their Pokémon were thunderbolted. Gary approaches the scepter when dark smoke leaks from it.
Misty: Gary!
Darkness shoots into the air from the scepter.
Jessie: It's no use! Pull back, pull back, pull back!
The balloon flies high in the air to get away. The flying shadow takes out all the Team Rocket Grunts and their Pokémon and dashes to the balloon and it explodes.
Team Rocket Trio: Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!
A shine flashes in the air and then the flying shadow shoots into the ground in front of Gary. Gary's shade is drawn into some dark smoke and the mysterious figure from the first episode emerges from it.
Misty: What? His shadow...
???: (Laughs) Oh, how ironic fate can be! I would never have believed I would be resurrected through your shade! I thank you, Gary Oak!
He bows.
Gary: Who are you? How do you know my name?
Lucifer: I'm Lucifer. (Walks towards Gary) What, did you forget me? I owe much to you, Gary. Oh, yes. (Forms a purple orb in his hand) What you gave to me, I now return to you! A one-way ticket to oblivion!
Lucifer surrounds himself, Gary and Misty in a purple orb and all three of them disappear. Later, Misty's sisters approached the location and were shocked to see her gone.
Daisy: They're not here. So we came here for nothing! Unbelievable!
They all left.
