Chapter 40 Invasion of the New Red Dragon Emperor
The Angel walked through the forest, her head was held up high as her sword was held out by a lazy hand. Anything the blade ever so gently touched would cut through it like air. She held a lifeless front as she walked forward.
She could feel it. The presence of the others that were ahead. Even though stone and bark blocked her vision. It didn't matter for deep within she could see them clear as day.
A strange epiphany fell upon the angel. She wondered if she was capable of seeing them, did that mean they could see her as well?
She let out an amused laugh. Things were starting to look very interesting on her end. She might've been outnumbered, but she far exceeded them, in skill and combat alone that it didn't matter.
"I hope Father made you all with a bit of talent, or else, this is going to be too effortless,"
Back at the camp.
Most of the matriarchs were on the front of the base barricades. Angron, Vulkan, and The Lion were all on the front line. Rogal and Perturabo were standing by the balusters. Corvis was hiding in the shadows, while Magnus stood at the front doors, the red giant held her staff strongly in her hand while Fulgrim was to her right, and Horus to the left. Sanguinius flew high in the air offering support from above.
Mortarion sat patiently by a tree outside of the first gate and what was Issei doing, well he lay on his bed, crossing his arms, and was stuck in his room. With a frustrated look on his face. Lorgar was sitting by Issei and had a happy smile.
"You know you shouldn't sulk like that, it's bad for your face," Lorgar said in a cheerful voice.
"I mean, I get it. They think of me as an irreplaceable valuable part of their lives but at the same time, I will not be sidelined!" Issei yelled in anger. Lorgar let out a begrudging sigh.
"Issei we are only looking out for you, please relax," She said with a begging voice. Issei took a sigh and sat down.
"Fine, but you know the moment I hear something up. I'm just going to break out of here right?" He asked Lorgar who smiled innocently.
"Yes I know, but in the meantime that doesn't mean we'll be able to get to know each other more."
Issei paused he was right Lorgar was a part of his harem now. It was strange this person had done so much for him and he did so little to show that devotion back to her. Issei felt ashamed and looked down to the floor.
"What is wrong?" She asked reading his face like an open book. He glanced at her and smiled sadly at her.
"It's just you've done so much for me but I haven't done anything in return for you,"
"That's complete nonsense and you know that. If your thoughts of self-doubt are because you lack any information about me. Then allow me to share my story with you," She said with a hopeful smile, Lorgar then took a seat on his bed. Issei sat by her side.
"I was born on Terra but you must know all of us, were separated during our creation. You see I was raised on the desert planet of Colchis, It was a world ruled by religion and coups starting everywhere," Lorgar said with a nostalgic laugh. Issei held Lorgar's ungloved hand making her tense up in surprise.
"Hey, you don't have to cover up anything with a joke,"
Lorgar took a deep breath and nodded. She realized how better Issei was getting at reading people. Her time on her planet wasn't as good as she remembered. Now that her rose-tinted glasses were gone, the matriarch questioned the choices that led her to be a preacher. The lie was now open to Lorgar as she took a deep breath.
"I was raised by a man, his name was Kor Phaeron. The planet I was born on was ruled by a church. He was an outcast who raised me with his form of religion. Now that I think about it, he was talking a lot of shit. I used to look deeply for any kind of truth out there. Why am I here? What was the point of the universe? Was there a God?" Lorgar said as she trailed off in her words. Issei wanted to say something until Lorgar continued her story.
"I did so much to unite my whole world and one religion, one belief, and yet I was not satisfied with it. I know it wasn't my truth. Then the faithful day when my father came to visit me in my home world, I thought of him as a pariah of God and I convinced the rest of my Legion as well. Oh, how foolish of me in my quest for the truth, I fell for the lie,"
"Hey, trying to find out who you are is tough. We always make some tumbles on the way there, even if we convince an entire planet about…" Issei didn't know what she worshiped. What kind of god did she worship, then he remembered.
"That you worshiped your father as a god. I just don't understand why he didn't say he wasn't a god?" Issei said out loud.
"Oh, he did multiple times. However, my stubbornness to find meaning in my life made me a bit… not proud to say this, but I was a bit ignorant," Lorgar said, holding her face with her hands. Trying to hide from the embarrassment. Issei let out a loving chuckle and patted her back.
"Then he should have tried harder to convince you," Issei said. "The guy always sounds shaded to me, because he doesn't sound that honest to me,"
"I agree, years of keeping our origin from us. I've always suspected that we were connected to the warp but not even mentioning a word to us…cuts deep," Lorgar said as she held her head down. Issei was still here for her and wouldn't leave.
"I'm very fortunate to have met you when I thought of your curse. My whole world on a high power was ruined. All I ever wanted to know was the truth. I now know that the truth is inside of us. I wish I realized that sooner, instead of wasting it on a false god,"
Issei knew that not all gods were bad, a little self-centered yes but not all of them were bad. Like Que he was a great person if only he could bring Lorgar to him, Then his mind flashed back to Que's words.
"Behind you kid," Que's voice said. Issei turned around to see Icarion throwing a blue bolt of lightning. Issei ducked and used his wings to fly above the sky. Issei knew the voice was inside his head or more so came from his soul.
"Que how are you-," Issei was cut off by Que as he spoke in his mind.
"Issei I'm not limited by your mind or soul, so now I can talk to you like this whenever I choose. Vise versa goes for you as well," Que said. Issei was brought down to the ground as Icarion smacked him down by growing her spear to a great length. Issei got back up and continued the fight.
The young man held his chin and I had a weary idea. He glanced back at the matriarch and gulped.
"Lorgar, would you like to meet Que?" Issei asked nervously. The matriarch was stunned by the proposal.
"Why would you do that?"
"Well, I just thought maybe he could answer a couple of those questions you had. I just don't want to leave with all this turmoil," Issei said searching the back of his head. Lorgar was quiet as she looked at the floor. The young teen thought that he might have said the wrong words.
Lorgar is here to keep an eye on Issei, he didn't want him to see this unknown individual approaching. Now here she was being offered the chance to see a god. Would she take it?
"Oh gosh that might be the wrong thing to say, you don't have to say yes. There's a lot on your mind, I'm sorry," Issei was cut off by two arms that held him in a tight embrace, while a giant head nuzzled into his neck.
Issei could feel a warm hum, vibrate his skin. A warm breath tickled the back of his neck. His eyelids fell halfway open. Trying to fight off this feeling of comfort. However, it didn't last long until he felt his back hit the bed. Unable to hold it back he let out a low pleased groan.
The weight of Lorgar wasn't the problem, it was her soft face being pushed up against his.
"Oh, you are such a wonderful person. I don't need to talk to a god to know the truth," Lorgar said, holding herself up with her arms on each side of Issei's head. Her face hovering over his.
"I know the truth Issei, we are here to make choices, and those choices make us who we are. Right now I choose to do this," Lorgar said as planted a gentle kiss on Issei's forehead.
They quickly got up with a bright smile and an even brighter blush on her face. "I don't need a god to tell me that,"
Issei was still lying in his bed taking deep breaths, trying to force down his teenage hormones from going crazy.
"Yeah, good point,"
Lorgar smirked admiring her handy work. She had accomplished her goal for now. Issei wasn't going to leave anytime soon. However, Lorgar did have a question for him.
"Issei what about the girls back home, do you still love them?" Lorgar asked. Issei dropped his lazy act and shot up from his spot. Looking at the matriarch with an ice-cold stare.
"Yes, I will never give up trying to go back home. They are still my family and my harem. After I help you find a way back to your home, I'm going to try and bring you guys back with me," He said with a resolution as tough as steel. Lorgar was unfazed and looked back at Issei with her firm stare.
"You would try to steal us from the Imperium. From our all-powerful father, from the legions of unstoppable marines, you would take us to another world to go into the unknown?" Lorgar asked with a voice from a warm soothing noise now into a great caution. Issei was unfazed and smirked at Lorgar.
"Did I stutter," Issei said. The warm smile began to slowly come back on her face.
"I wish luck then," Lorgar said. "Oh, that does sound to explore a new world with you as your guiding hand, but I have to ask what has brought forth this idea?"
Issei had a sad gaze that was latched onto his right arm. The same arm was ripped off and given a new one. Made of the flesh of a monster.
"It's just after seeing what you went through, I don't think your father or the imperium deserves any of you. It might be selfish. I want you all to be safe. I guess it's a selfish idea but…"
"You have to be hungrier than anyone to have your dreams. I understand Issei, though we do have a responsibility to the imperial, however, if the circumstances do fall in that favor, I wouldn't mind," Lorgar said, winking at the young man.
"All I'm saying is that you guys need a better life but that's my choice is it,"
"Unfortunately it's not,"
Horus and Magnus were walking into the woods while from the shadows Corvax hid in the shadows. The tension between the three was more than just tension.
"I hate to see what's over that horizon," Horus said. The truth was that she was dreading this conversation.
"Each step I feel we inch closer to… it," Magnus said in a weary voice.
"You attempted to look ahead with your sorcery?" Horus asked. Magnus didn't succeed after all when she tried to look ahead to see who this person was. She was blinded by a very bright light. Thankfully her shadow eye was able to bypass the light. Yet still, she only made out a silhouette. It was large and feminine like theirs. Taking a brave front she would march forward.
"Do you think she likes us?" Horus asked. Magnus was only silent if there was truly another matriarch out there, and it would shake the very foundation of the imperium, a new general to lead father armies.
"We have to be suspicious of anything, this could be a trick from something more sinister like a warp entity," Magnus said. Horus agreed this had to be taken care of and straightened out.
"I swear the last thing we need is more of us, I believe Issei wouldn't be too happy about that," Horus jokes.
"Well, maybe he might be excited to have another girl to seduce," Magnis jokes. Horus laughed with the humor jab. It was the type of painful banter that needed to continue around here.
Horus's smile faded as she shot a curious glance at Magnus.
"What is your relationship with Issei, it just seems you've grown rather close to him. I don't mean to be pushy but are you… you know. Having that kind of connection with him,"
"What no…it's just I like spending time with him nothing or nothing less and he's a well of information. so of course I'm going to be hanging around him like a moon on a planet," Magnus said not wanting to squabble with these lovey-dovey affairs. Horus didn't budge and cracked a smile.
"That's what Konrad said before she was swooped off her feet by a strong man," Horus said with a mischievous grin.
"Uh, you're being unbearable today. trying to cover up your stress with humor, besides jumping away at someone else, but the one in the shadows, not me," Magnus said. She kept waking forward to avoid Horus' eyes. It was a good thing she had red skin or else everyone would see the bright red blush on our faces.
"It's so funny to tease you, I feel efficient that boy came around. We've been able to have conversations like actual siblings. Besides I can't make fun of Corvax, Issei hasn't taken an interest in her," Horus said. While the matriarch of the Raven Guard hides in the shadows.
"I'm so glad that they didn't about that incident in the hallway with Issei. I don't think I'd ever hear the end of it." Corvus thought glad they couldn't see the blush on her face.
"But let's talk about the real discussion. What are we to do if we find this individual?" Horus said. Would they just attack them? Well, Horus hopped to negotiate with this strange entity that they were tracking.
"We will negotiate and if that doesn't work, will try the other options," Magnus said calmly yet under the surface, she was quite nervous. This strange aura she felt
"Subduing them with a sneak attack. I know this play by the book." Horus said. The imperium was many things but it sure was a place where you could evolve your tactical genius into something grand.
"Unfortunately I wrote that book, word by word."
The matriarch halted in their tracks as they didn't even notice the being that stood at the top of the hill, looking down at them. The angel of light was glaring down at them.
Horus could only stare in amazement as she could only describe this person as angelic. A description she rarely gave to anyone except her father. Magnus's reaction was that of surprise. She could always feel or if the individual's mind was weaker could read it. However, being face-to-face with this being of light. It was like she was meant with a wall. Forcing her to back off from even attempting such a thing.
She silently gawked at the being, while the Angel only responded with silence. The look on her face showed that she wasn't entirely pleased with what she was looking at. She studied the two and then looked at the shadows.
"Interesting…" The Angel dragged out a pause. "Design choices."
Horus was confused at what she meant then she realized looking down at her armor. That's what the angel probably meant unfortunately this was far from the truth.
"Yes well we were all raised on different planets and of course, some choices of armor might be different," Horus said trying to lighten up the mood. however, Magnus knew what she meant. It was based on their appearance. The hatred in her eyes was a dead give. she couldn't help but think this was a matriarch standing right in front of them but to what legion did she belong? Why was she here? What was her purpose?
"That's not what I meant," The Angel responded coldly.
"Well perhaps you can discuss this further if you choose to come with us," Horus said. there was no coddling the answer. She had to be truthful to this angel of light. However, The Angel glared at the distance and into the shades of the trees.
"I'll speak when the other one comes out of the shadows?"
Horus and Magnus were both shocked. How did she even know? Corvus didn't bother to keep hiding; she walked out of the shadows using her wraith slip and out into the open.
Corvus narrowed her eyes at the individual in question. This was quite unexpected for someone to notice her.
"How were you able to see me?" She asked. The Angel took a step forward. All of the matriarchs kept their calm for there was no malice in her steps. so it was clear that she wasn't going to attack. However, the next step she took vanished into the sunlight. Everyone drew their weapons and huddled their backs together forming a circle.
"You hide in the shadows, I learned to hide in the light," The Angel's voice echoed around them. Corvus felt her heart pound in fear. She could hear that angelic voice right by her ear, but couldn't see anything in front of her.
"I can see he made you with an interesting ability. Unfortunately, I've learned how to use it far better," The Angel whispered into Corvus's ear. Making the matriarch pull her guard closer to herself.
Then a couple of feet away from the group in a bright shimmer of white light. Stepping out of the light was Angel slowly circling them without a care in the world.
"So all twenty-one of you are trapped on this planet, I see if you stationed yourself amongst that scrap people of a base. Then again, you are limited with the material."
Magnus gritted her teeth in anger, but she did not want to show it on her face. The fact that she had already seen their base before they could make contact with her was disturbing. Also being able to sense them was a whole Other problem.
"Who is she?" Magnus thought. Horus realized that the number she said was off by one. Twenty-one? Was she not taking Issei into account? No! She would have made some mention of him by now.
"Then please allow us to know your name before we bring you to our base of operation," Horus said. The angel glared at her with a dull face with no expression.
"I do not need a name. such things are unnecessary, however, I did gain a title over my long career of fighting my enemies. You may call me the Angel."
"How about Angel for short," Horus suggested.
"Well that's up to you, isn't it? I wish to be escorted towards your place. It would be better for me to get more well-acquainted with my successors," Angel said.
"Successors, what are you talking about?" Horus said.
"If you want answers, the red one over here can happily take a look into my mind. I can show you so much," Angel said with a straight face. Magnus slightly gulped nervously, there was something wrong with this matriarch if she could even call it that. She could feel the cold disdain in her voice, the pure utter hatred she had just by standing near them. Who was this monster, there is no possible way that father could create such a cold machine.
"I've wondered what father would need so many fragments when he could just build one to take care of the job," She said carelessly. The Scarlet sorcerer could not take any more of this.
"Shut your mouth, you speak only lies. How could our glorious father of humanity make something like you? an individual so cold and lacking any emotion? He has his golden guard for that, so silence your pale imitation!" Then without warning a hand clapped down upon Magnus's Mouth. Then hoisted off the ground and slammed so hard down to the surface that the impact had blown apart the trees around them, leaving nothing but a dead area.
Horus and Corvus were pushed away by Angel's bright white wings that threw them miles apart from each other. Magnus glared at the Angel while her eyes glared at the one who held her down.
"I believe it's a courtesy to show respect to the eldest sibling. Is it not?" The prototype matriarch said with a cold, dead voice.
Magnus would teach this angel lesson with her staff in hand, she has to spell to burn this creature into dust. Angel held her hand over the blast. The energy began to form around her palm and formed into an energy sphere of blue and red. Then only by flexing your fingers does the energy collapse within itself and vanish into thin air.
"Weak insufficient copies," Angel's hand formed a fist and struck down Magnus's head. The Scarlet matriarch felt her head buried deep into the ground as her jaw was broken.
Angel kept her fist buried into the ground, trying to crush the matriarch's head. Her eyes showed how displeased she was.
Corvus witnessed Angel's action and furiously flew with her Jetpack boosters accelerating behind the matriarch. Coming toward their new enemy, her lightning clause extended outward to tear into flesh.
"Begone you -GWAK-!" Corvus's throat was grabbed by her throat. The strength that gripped her throat could only be comparable or equivalent to Vulcans. Angel's reaction speed was so inhumanly fast that not even the Khan could match it. Something that the Raven Guard matriarch figured out. regretfully she could not formulate a plan soon enough as her body was tossed away into a grove of trees.
The Angel continues to try and crush Magnus's head while finding great resistance. Her fist touched the ground. Seeing that the matriarch that she had pinned down teleported away.
Magnus reappeared behind Angel with her hand read to all of her psychic might. The Scarlet matriarch was so certain that this monster wouldn't be able to react in time to her attack. It would be impossible.
Then from her hand a wave of warp lightning shot from her fingertips. In a blinding manner all Horus could see was white as he was pushed away by the force of the energy.
Vulkan, Rogal, Angron, The Khan, and the Lion watched from a distance, hearing the sound of rumbling thunder. A bright light flickered from the distance.
Lion El'Johnson opened the gates as she had her weapon ready. The Khan followed suit, Vulkan was going to accompany them only to find Rogal's hand on your shoulder, holding her back.
"We must hold our ground. I am sure they'll be able to handle it,"
Vulkan had a word expression but agreed and stayed at her post.
"I hope for our sister's safety, they'll be able to get this under control,"
Lorgar looked out of the window, her hair was standing on the edge. Issei felt the same but he could feel something fighting with the others.
It gave it such a bright ambiance that made him feel agitated. His hand curled up into a fist. He had to get to whatever was making that light.
His anger was tensing up only to be quilled by a constricting hug. Issei let out a grunt. It was air constricting tight but with a firm grip around his chest.
"Just relax, for once I say let us fight our battles, we didn't win thousands of years of battle for nothing. Have faith in us like we have in you," Lorgar whispered in his ear. Making Issei pout in defeat, lowering his head in frustration.
"You're right…"
"I know you're gonna try and bust out of here the moment you can to help them, however, you'll find I'll be in your way," Lorgar said in a calm whisper. Issei had smirked at the challenge that was presented in front of him.
"Please be careful guys," Issei said.
Magnus would only see white smoke and ash falling from above the sky while the land was laid to waste. There was no sign of Angel. Horus slowly got up from the ground and looked in horror, pulling her head away from the site and closing her eyes in dismay.
"No," She whispers. This was not the outcome she was looking for; this person could've been another matriarch. They got answers for their creation. They could've understood themselves more. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, she tried to take their lives and they had to defend themselves.
Even though Magnus did not show any pride over her victory she hated what she did, though she had to fight for her life the angel was too dangerous even for her.
"Don't cry over inaccurate victory,"
Magnus felt a trickle of blood leak from the corner of her lip, looking down at her chest seeing that a large white hot blade was sticking out from the middle of her abdomen. Her eyes glanced slowly to her left. Seeing Angel looking off into the distance, not even acknowledging the action that she committed. She pulled her sword of fire out of Magnus's flesh.
"You'd believe you had a chance in the first encounter, unfortunately, the game was rigged from the beginning. you were promised armies, adoring the love of humanity. All the while you spread the word of the Emperor burning planets wherever you go. What's the point of a sword? if it needs love to be sharpened,"
Horus eyes wide and whore as the angel pulled out the blade Magness collapsed to the ground.
"Why are you doing this? answer me!l She yelled at her adversary.
"You are all corrupted by the warp. Humankind needs to be cleansed. I am here to do the job that you would certainly turn away from. That's why the Emperor made me,"
"No, that's impossible. Why would he make such a thing? he would never have innocent lives like this, he would never make such an uncaring monster like you!" Horus said, rejecting the reality she was told. even with all the lies and how much trouble they have been through. Why would the emperor of mankind need such a cold-killing soldier? Horus had her doubts and they began to settle within.
"Then you need to wake up, for I am here to finish what he started! I am humanity's savior from itself!"
"What do you mean? There is a great Crusade, freeing people from Xenos and saving lives, we show them the imperial truth. How could you not know this? We are saving humanity!" Horus retarded slowly getting up and getting her mace ready. Angel's eyes turn into amusement.
"Aw, Father didn't tell you, did he? Well, fret not I shall liberate you from the warp that is within you all. It corrupts our souls and destroys us from within. It is the infection of humanity that needs to be cleansed. You are not above this exception!"
"That's what this is about, don't you realize everything that is alive or has a mind or consciousness contains the immaterial within it? your declaration is against life itself! It's madness!" Horus said. The angel's response was to ignite her fiery sword. It burned with the same light as emperor mankind.
Magnus wanted to teleport away but knew there was something more to this angel. She had perfectly predicted her attack last time so how could she be able to do such calculations? What was making her so powerful?
The blade was about to come down on Magnus's head. Corvus and Horus ran towards the Angel. The two soon saw the angel's two gaunt wings shoot out at them. The wings formed into shape points and almost hit their target. Corvus had wrath slipped behind the wing. While Horus had to grab her bolter and blast a shot from her right. She held the gun close to her side making it push her out of the attack.
Corvus used her jet pack to zoom at The Ange, readying her for block or counterattack. The Angel did neither of the two predictions. She stepped out of the way of the flying matriarch making her almost collide with Horus, thankfully, she swerved away from her and used her electro to try and snag one of Angel's limps.
She was Unfazed that her right was snared, yet with a small tug the strength behind ripped Corvus out of the air. Making the Matriarch plummet to the ground, only for her to stumble back to her feet and prepare her claws to tear into her Opponent's neck. Horus's Attention was more on Magnus, who was still pinned down underneath by the angel.
Horus charged at the Angel her made ready in hand. The Matriarch wanted all of the Angel's attention on her. Hoping to give Magnus some room to at least Escape this bind.
Horus and the Angel closed the distance between them. Their weapons collided, making a small shockwave. Magnus could feel the door of Angel loosen on her chest as it was completely gone.
Magnus pushed herself up and fired a spell from her hand, it took the form of fire, which formed into chains. The Angel still had Corvus whip wrapped around it.
Angel swung her arm toward the red giant, drawing along the whip that Corvus still held onto being tossed into Magnus. While also blocking the flames that ever so grazed her skin. Brought her no pain but a nice tender feeling of warmth.
"Not bad however let a master show you how it's done!" The Angel raised her hand and shot a beam of heat that burnt the front of Magnus. The skin on her body began to burn off leaving Magnus on the ground as she waited for her body to regenerate. Corvus let go of her whip and went closer to the Angel.
Horus held her mase high and brought it down with the force to crack a mountain. The attack was parried away, disarming Horus. Corvus still took her chance to try and attack the Angel from behind.
Unfortunately, the claws were blocked by the Angel's wings. Corvus continued relentlessly on our attempts to try and stab Angels back. However each time she brought the claw blades down, the wings would instantly block the attack.
Then the Angel spun rapidly around like a tornado of fury. Knocking Horus away in the dirt. While Corvus felt the tips of the wings stab her arms and chest. The armory proved to be useless as the sharp white feathers cut through the ceramite armor, like it was butter, Then an instant. She was flung away as a trail of blood flowed her descent into the trees.
Horus tried to get up but felt the heart stomp of the angel's foot on the back of her head. making her forehead kiss the ground. The prototype of the matrix lifted her crate sword of fire into the air, preparing to perform an executing blow.
"Why do you do this?" Horus crit through her teeth, covered in spit and blood.
"Because I was made this way,"
She quickly struck down the sword only in a hair-splitting moment, brought it back up, and slashed diagonally not towards the two matriarchs that were charging towards her from the front, but bringing the blade from behind. The blade that had almost made its mark belonged to no other than Lion El'Johnson
"Back you foul beast!" Lion roared in a commanding manner. The Angel raised a brow not of interest but of skeptic. The blade's edge against each other, The Lion held two hands on her great sword.
Angel lazily held one on her own. The fingers that curled around the handles weren't even stressed at all from this match of strength.
"I take it, that you are here to stop me?" Angel asked sarcastically. The Lion wasn't interested in conversation as right now the only language that would be spoken would be combat.
The Lion pulled her blade away. Angel saw this attempt to gain space for her but quickly sent a flurry of slashes at the first matriarch. The Lion blocked in parried almost all of the attacks.
"Hm, it appears you're well-educated with a sword," Angel said, slashing upward and making the Lion move her spot.
"Unfortunately this is more than just a battle of skill,"
Her blade of fire collides with the Lion's blade again. This time the force behind this strike, knocked back the Lion again. The matriarch refused to utter a word, only choosing to be more focused on the battle.
"Damn it, she hasn't even broken her stance, and each attack was so close to a hit," The Lion thought. This was a difficult battle but it would be hers alone. The victory would be her no matter what it took.
Then without warning a ferocious howl echoed through the woods. Angel smiled and looked at the Lion bringing her face close to hers.
"The wolf is coming to the slaughter,"
The Lion still did not break her composure. She kept blocking each strike, and though she couldn't catch up with the speed she was more than well caught up with predicting the movements of her opponent. Yet that became irrelevant as the angel's blade cut deep into the lion's side, grazing her lower abdomen.
Horus took a sigh to charge in with her mace and swung as hard as could at the Angel. The Angel snickered at the attack and used her wings to shield herself from the attack.
Horus was hoping that would be her choice. She struck the white wings that blocked her attack so hard the angel had not predicted that the force behind the attack would break her wings and bring the Angel's attention to her.
Horus hesitated for only a moment seeing that the prototype matriarch was not in pain or frustrated, only annoyed as she glared down at her.
"Pest,"
The Angel turned her back to the Lion. In battle, this was a foolish mistake. Something that the first matriarch would capitalize on. The lion thought she even had the upper hand for this great Warrior's wings was damaged.
She raised her sword, preparing the slasher back. In an astounding amount of speed, her wings reformed in the blink of an eye, and began to shoot out towards Lion El'Johnson
"Damn it she generates almost as fast as Vulkan!"
Horus was stunned at how effortlessly she fought them. This moment made her gulp in fear. Then a sly smile appears on her.
"You underestimated us," Horus said.
"And why is that?" Angel asked.
Horus couldn't help but smirk at the movable force that stood in front of her. The mat I couldn't help but smile because she knew something that the angel didn't.
"Because wolves come when a bird of prey finds something to feast on," Horus said with a smirk.
"The one with the jet pack is down on the floor-,"
Horus swiftly raised her weapon and threw a mighty swing at Angel's head.
Horus's opponent moved her head out of the way of the weapon but noticed that the lion was running towards her with her sword, straight out ready to impale her from behind, Angel quickly covered her back with those impenetrable wings.
This was another useless attempt at her life. Trying to force her into a corner unknowingly, that there was no corner to push her in. Then before she could make a move something fast punctured her shoulder and pinned her to the ground.
All the prototype matriarch could see was a blur of red and gold.
"Sorry for the lateness, you know how I like to make an entrance," Sanguinius said with a smile. Making Horus chuckle at the moment.
"Yes, you certainly do," Horus said. Sanguinius then glared down at her foe.
The Angel stable enough sees another pair of white angelic wings fluttering above her. now, seeing the sword that was still impaled in her shoulder being held by two golden-clad hands. With wavy golden hair and blood-red eyes that stared at her.
Sanguinius stood over the Angel, making her look like the superior one.
The Angel stared at the matriarch and was utterly surprised. The wings, the hair, and the angelic presents all of the hints of a vampire undertone. She wasn't looking at another new matriarch that her father was experimenting with. All she could see was a replacement for herself. The Angel
The prototype matriarch felt an undeniable rage boil within her. Then her entire body started to glow white, making the other matrix cover their eyes due to how bright the light was.
Then a shockwave of pure white light energy pushed everyone back, scorching others that were extremely close to the angel's proximity. Luckily with the regenerative powers, the serious burns and scars turned into fresh new skin.
Sanguinius was lucky enough to have her wings shelter her from the attack. Yet they were in critical condition. Seeing that she wouldn't be flying anytime soon. Still defiant she held up her spear that was attached to her hip.
"I shall not give up, no surrender you shall either come with us in chains or a casket!" She said ferociously
"Master, I know this may be the wrong time to suggest this, but you should use my sacred gear, then we'll be able to wipe the floor with her!" Baal said in Sanguinius's mind. She took a deep breath and kept her composure. The last thing her enemy needed to know was that she was talking to someone in her mind.
"I do not want to take any unnecessary risks, but you'll be able to increase my strength in an infinite amount of times. I believe I need time and that's something that we are not blessed with right now," She thought.
"They say learning on the job is the best way to do it! I promise I won't let you down master just feel that energy!" Baal protested, not wanting to sit on the sidelines while her host was fighting for her life.
"You just have to make three boosts and then you'll be able to take her down!"
Sanguinius watched the Angel pluck the sword from her shoulder, gripping the weapon by the blade, her hand began to glow a very bright white light. Then the metal began to heat up and melt into a liquid pool.
"I'm going to need a miracle to pull this off!" She thought.
The Angel took her first step at Sanguinius who held her guard up. Her steps were cold and methodical. It was clear that she had made her target on this battlefield. her lifeless glowing eyes made her look akin to a lifeless statue.
"You shall die first!"
Then a giant tree was tossed in the direction of the angel. She stood there, unfazed by the massive object moving her way. She held up her arm and the tree splintered apart, not even leaving a scratch on the prototype matriarch. Sanguinius gave a stiff laugh thinking perhaps she would be able to get enough time.
Horus and The Lion got up from the floor. Knowing who was here.
"About time you showed up!" Horus called out.
"Don't get in my way, mutt!" The Lion said.
The Angel turned I head towards the right where all the matriarchs came from and could see a new challenger had approached. One that smelled of alcohol and blood. Leman Russ of the Space Wolves stood
"I could see you all started at the party without me. How about I take the time to introduce our guests to the cells!" Russ said with a boastful attitude. resting her large battle ax on her shoulder and staring down at her new phone with interest in the upcoming fight. The sight of this new matriarch made Russ a bit tense.
"What in the name of our father are you?" She thought, pushing those opinions aside she spat on the floor.
"Stand down or I'll make you!" Russ ordered.
"Never," The Angel said. Russ smiled at the answer, knowing that this was going to be a long altercation.
"I was hoping you would say that," Russ then leaped towards Angel with the ferociousness of a beast. The Angel prepared herself for all of her sides. The matriarch began to get up one by one and charge at her. All except Sanguinius who held her stance.
The Angel had found that was very interesting and knew she was planning something. looking across all the enemies that were in front of her today she could only think of how they paled in comparison to the original. It was as if someone took a masterful art piece and repainted it six times only capturing one aspect of it. With each iteration came its flaws.
"Give it up your surround!" Russ shouted. The Angel held her blade and beamed with pride.
"Yes, I'm surrounded by the dead!"
Horus attacked first but was pushed back by the butt of the Angel's sword. The Lion thrust her sword forward. Even though she hated working with the others, thinking that this battle should only be one-on-one. Arguing against the situation would be fruitless. However, she became infuriated seeing how all of her attacks were blocked with such ease. The Angel could see all the attacks coming towards her now and also the future.
The Angel was able to see into the future, allowing her to protect her opponent's next movements. Which made this battle a breeze to walk through. Russ had leaped toward Angel's side trying to slash her.
The Angel allowed herself to be cut, seeing Into the future if she were to lean more towards the right then it would give the wolf the advantage to take her down. So when Russ charged she kicked out her knee and locked the air out of the wolf's lungs. However, Russ hoped she would be closer to her target. Swiftly grabbing the angel's hair and head-butting her forehead repeatedly into Angel's face.
The Lion took a step back seeing the graphic display. Seeing how mashed the angelic face became after thirty consecutive head buttons. All the while Russ laughed like a lunatic.
The Angel spat blood in Russ's eyes causing them to burn. The red liquid was extremely acidic. Russ, now blinded, did not let go and instead opened up her mouth showing her sharp fangs that you would see only on wild wolves.
Then she bites into the Angel's neck ripping out a giant chunk of flesh. The prototype matriarch let out a horrible cry. Then she pulled back her fist and punched Russ's abdomen so hard that she impaled her entire arm through Leman's body.
"Russ!" The Lion cried out. Russ growled at the wound and responded by stabbing her sword into Angel's side.
Then Angel threw Russ off to the side landing on Magnus who just recovered from her injuries.
Magnus looked at the bloody matriarch that lay on top of her.
"How's the fight going?" She asked sarcastically. Even with a hole the size of a manhole cover in her lower stomach. Russ still responded in a gruff gargled voice.
"Shut up!"
Sanguinius watched the battle unfold. Taking deep breaths and trying to bring out this new power. However, she was failing because she felt nothing. Seeing all her siblings getting thrown around frustrated her. Here she was standing alone trying to gain an upper hand while the other suffered.
She took a step only for Baal to stop her.
"Wait! Master, you're so close to unlocking the first stage to boosting power!"
"I can't help, I don't know what I'm doing!" Sanguinius thought in anger. Her outbursts brought a silence in her mind as Baal could feel how angry the matriarch was. Instead of yelling back, Baal took a deep sigh.
"Master just let your emotions run through you, focus on the reason you're here. Your emotions don't control you. You control your emotions. That's what Issei wanted to show you."
Sanguinius in this dangerous situation remembered what Issei did for her. That feeling will never be forgotten. The liberation of her soul made something new out of her. She wasn't that person who would hide a monster it was only her now.
"You and the others are my cause." Issei commands in a strong voice. "I know what you need. So I will give you it," Issei said as he ripped off his red shirt showing his lean yet slightly muscular body.
"Take it," Issei commands again. The blood was going to do one thing, satisfy the curse once and for all.
Sanguinius had a Predatory look in her eyes. She stared right at him, she opened her mouth and sunk her sharp teeth into Issei's shoulder. Crimson blood flowed down his chest. Tears leaked from her eyes as she bit into him. Issei's flesh muffled her sorrowful screams.
Issei held her neck as he was close enough to whisper to her.
"It's alright Sanguinius, please take as much as you want, it's all for you." He whispered as Sanguinius sucked the blood within him; like chomping on ripe fruit. Issei whispered one more time in her ear.
Sanguinius took a deep breath and allowed those wild emotions to run free within. The red tips of her hair began to glow as she felt more alive than ever. Time was key to this situation; maybe her sister could buy her some.
"I am Sanguinius, The new Dragon empress,"
Horus started to notice that she was constantly getting knocked down only for her to get back up, but still, they could continue to fight. Even if this angel had yet to drop, each step towards impairing her more until she fell was the goal.
All the matriarchs were getting gravely injured with each confrontation they had with this superior being in combat. Horus wouldn't give up and stand proud. The Lion followed suit.
"We must apprehend you so cease any more action," Horus said. Angel didn't respond as she marbled at the wounds she received only to see the flesh on her body regenerate.
"I haven't had this battle damage in a long time, father did make you all to be more than above average, but my quest to cleanse the universe of the immaterial remains. I apologize in advance for I must take all of your lives,"
Russ and Magnus got up, then in the first monumental history moment for the imperium of the space wolves and the thousand sons. The two matriarchs scoffed together.
"Then? I'm sorry but at this rate, we're going to take you down pretty easily if I might add," Russ said.
"I agree with my sister here to surrender now, it's the right logical decision," Magnus added.
The Angel shocked her head at all of them.
"I have to stop playing with my siblings because now I am growing bored with all of you. I was the first one made in the emperor's image, and I was made to kill armies by myself! You were made to lead them,"
The Lion was shocked to hear such things for she was the first matriarch. Horus didn't care for this incisive monologue and took a step forward only for a pillar of white energy to envelope the angel showing just how mighty she was. The sky above them turned into a thunderstorm while the ground beneath them shook. The wind was starting to push them. The Angel stood on top of it all, the matriarch felt a sudden pressure forced down on them.
They felt like kneeling to a superior force. Horus' eyes widened, the angel's eyes glowed like two white suns. The voice that spoke to them boomed across the land.
"NOW DO YOU SEE HOW SMALL YOU ARE TO ME"
Horus admitted that she couldn't comprehend the power in front of her. It scared her, and she felt powerless against this being. Corvus was still trying to get up, and couldn't even look in the angel's direction because the light was just so bright it irritated her eyes.
They all might have been outmatched though not a single one turned their back against their adversary.
"We aren't cowards!" The Lion yelled. The Angel looked at all of them. Seeing that they weren't just cheap imitations of her. no, they were something much worse. They all had individual personalities. They weren't mindless soldiers to follow orders. They've been given thoughts, emotions, dreams, something that made people weak. The Angel was disgusted but would still grant them all a warrior's death.
"Any final words?" The Angel asked. Raising her fiery sword above her head, ready to stab the dirt. Horus and the others remain quiet. To share another word with this being to dishonor them.
"Boost!"
The Angel glanced at where Sanguinius was to see a glowing red light shining against her. All the other matriarchs looked at her and noticed a new accessory was on her right hand. A bright red scarlet gauntlet that only reached over her hand. On the back of her hand was a green gem. Sanguinius could feel the power and she could describe it in one word, it was incredible.
Sanguinius held her guard up and glared at the Angel. She leaped at the Angel with astounding speed and struck her face so hard a shock wave came from the impact. Ripping her jaw and cheek apart while even her right eye bulged out, The other matriarchs watched as the unstoppable warrior was struck by Sanguinius's fist. Sending her to crash through miles of woods.
Boom!
The force of the attack had thrown her off a little bit, being that she was not used to wielding such power. However, she was still standing and ready for more to come her way. Looking at the dragon gauntlet she smiled hopefully as tears of joy leaked from her eyes. Now Sanguinius had the power to protect all that she loved, A power to protect her home and family.
"Thank you, Baal,"
"Congratulations master now let's take this loser down!" Baal said out loud.
All the other matriarchs could see this new weapon and we're very shocked. Some head looks of surprise and others confusion.
"Oi, where can I get one of those?" Russ said in amazement. Sanguinius smirked at the others and faulted her hair. She rarely showed off, but at this moment she enjoyed it.
"This isn't over!"
Sanguinius looked at Angel who flew above them. All of them took a fighting stance as they all had one objective in mind.
Take down the enemy.
