Mist and Maelstroms: Chapter 35
Land of Iron; Kage summit location: With Naruto, Tsunade, Jiraya, Itachi and Kurama
The doors to the kage summit building slammed open and Naruto, Tsunade and the others all walked in with snow fluttering in as the doors closed behind them. Outside there was a raging snow storm and Naruto who was wearing a heavy winter cloak shook the snow off him as the warmth of the building hit him.
"Why the hell is this country so cold" Naruto said "next time lets pick somewhere warm to have a meeting" he said shivering as he looked at the others.
"I agree" Tsunade said as she took off her coat "I'm not built for this weather" she said.
"Yugagakure is nice this time of year" Jiraya said "hot springs, nice food, and lots of lovely ladies that'll make you feel alive" he said before getting smacked on the back of the head by Tsunade.
"You humans are so weak" Kurama said standing there in his anbu uniform with no winter cloths "you complain over a little breeze; this cold is nothing" he said making everyone look at him with death glares.
"I wonder how Fu is doing" Itachi said taking off his cloths and rubbing his hands "I hope she's ok" he said.
Slug summoning world: With Fu
Fu's cloths were folded neatly on the shore of a lake while she was in the water "Yay swimming" Fu cheered to no one in particular. Fu dived under the water and looked around seeing all the underwater life in the crystal clear water 'this is so fun; I haven't gone skinny dipping since i was a kid' she thought as she swam back up for airs.
"And the best part is; no perverts to worry about" Fu said as she began to do back strokes across the lake "especially that old guy with white hair" she said remembering Jiraya.
Back with Naruto and Tsunade
Naruto and Tsunade were walking to the cafeteria in order to get some food while the others were getting their rooms situated; as they walked into the cafeteria Naruto saw dozens of samurai sitting and eating their food.
"Damn, lot of people here" Naruto said and Tsunade nodded; Naruto and Tsunade began to make their way to the food line when they heard someone speak up.
"Hey sword boy" came a feminine voice; Naruto turned around and saw someone he hasn't seen in years. Temari was standing there with a smile on her face and a fan on her back "Long time no see" Temari said and Naruto smiled.
"Temari; how you doing, it's been forever" Naruto said as he walked up and both hugged each other "what you doing here" he asked and Temari raised up the Kazekage hat.
"I've been the Kazekage for about a 2 years now" Temari said and Naruto went wide eyed "ever since my father died by Orochimaru and Gaara got killed the spot was open between me and Kankuro" Temari said.
"Oh yeah the title of Kazekage is only available through your clan right" Tsunade said and Temari nodded.
"Yes it is; so as being the stronger sibling I was chosen" Temari said; Naruto began to look sheepish and rub the back of his head.
"Yeah… Gaara" Naruto said nervously "listen Temari about that… I'm sorry I had to do that; it's just with him turning into a giant sand raccoon and going Godzilla on the village…" he said. "I just hope you don't hold it against me" Naruto said and Temari put her hand on his shoulder.
"It's ok; I don't blame you" Temari said softly " i blame my father for how Gaara turned out; if he wasn't so cold and power hungry the Gaara could've been someone great" she said. Naruto smiled and looked at her.
"Thanks Temari; I appreciate it" Naruto said "hey I'm gonna grab some food real quick; can we sit together" he asked and Temari nodded.
"Sounds good to me" Temari said; Naruto and Tsunade both went and grabbed their food with Naruto grabbing a bowl of ramen while Tsunade grabbed a plate of onigiri and sat down with Temari. "So what's new with you Naruto; do you have a girlfriend yet" she asked and Tsunade began to chuckle.
"Oh boy" Tsunade said shaking her head "you can't even imagine what he's going to say" she said and Temari rolled her eyes.
"Surprise me" Temari said and Naruto began to giggle.
"Well she's coming her from Kiri actually" Naruto said and Temari nodded.
"Oh i get it" Temari said "she's a member of the Mizukage's team" she said and both Naruto and Tsunade began to laugh annoying Temari. "What's so damn funny" Temari said and Naruto wiped a tear from his eye.
"Check this" Naruto said as he reached into his pocket and took out a photo and handed it to Temari; Temari looked at the photo and went wide eyed as she saw Naruto with an older woman who was sitting on his lap.
"Wow she's beautiful" Temari said as looked at the photo " she looks like a super model; those legs, that bust, that hair and that…" Temari began until she realized what was on her head. Temari saw the Mizukage hat and her eyes nearly popped out of her head and Tsunade began to eat her food.
"That never gets old" Tsunade said.
A few hours later: With Mei, Ao, Kisame, Chojuro and Raiga
Mei walked through the entrance of the building covered in snow and shaking from the cold "that was miserable" Mei said as she shook the snow out of her hair.
"This place is too goddamn cold" Kisame said as he took off his cloak "why the fuck did we have to come here; why not somewhere warm like Yuga" Kisame said and Ao spoke up.
"Because we needed a neutral area that doesn't have ties to any one side" Ao said "this area was chosen over sixty years ago by the first of the kage's in order to-" Ao began until Mei turned around.
"Ao; shut up" Mei said as she walked into the building "I just want to warm up and relax" Mei said. 'And preferably warm up next to Naruto' Mei thought.
As Mei and the others walked through the building and saw the cafeteria "Lady Mei; can we get something to eat" Chojuro asked and Ao looked towards him.
"Chojuro; you are a seven sword man" Ao said sternly "you cannot-" he began until Mei turned and looked towards him with a smile.
"Ao, shut up… or I'll kill you" Mei said and Ao paled while nodding vigorously "of course Chojuro" Mei said making him smile. Mei and the others all walked into the cafeteria and immediately saw a familiar head of blonde spiky hair along with 2 other blondes.
"-and then I used my fan to cave in the pyramid in order to trap it inside; then i had the sealing team seal it off in order to ensure it never gets out again" Temari said and Naruto's jaw hung wide open.
"Aww man, you got to fight a mummy" Naruto whined "all i fought was that bone guy but you got to fight a mummy; life's not fair sometimes" he said.
"You should've seen the time me, Jiraya and Orochimaru fought Hanzo the salamander" Tsunade said gaining both Naruto and Temari's attentions "now that is a story; so we were on a mission in Ame and then- Hey brat look, your girl is here" Tsunade said as she pointed behind Temari and both of her fellow blondes looked over.
"Mei" Naruto cheered as he hopped up.
"Naruto" Mei cheered back as she ran over and wrapped him in a hug "I missed you so much" she said as she and Naruto hugged.
"Damn; she's prettier in person" Temari said "hey i just realized; three of the five kage are women" she said and Tsunade's eyes widened.
"Oh damn; i just realized that too" Tsunade said "wow… the slug princess, the sand princess and the slayer of Yagura; i think this is the first time in history where there were more women kage than males" she said.
Naruto and Mei broke their hug and Mei looked over to Tsunade and Temari "hi ladies; sorry if this is sudden but I need to borrow Naruto" Mei said and Naruto looked at her.
"Huh… what's wrong Mei" Naruto said and Mei turned to him with a smile.
"We need to 'talk' in your room" Mei said and Naruto raised an eyebrow.
"Huh, about what" Naruto said and Mei sweat dropped.
"We need to 'Talk'" Mei said with emphasis and Naruto looked even more confused; Mei groaned and leaned in and whispered in Naruto's ear.
Naruto's eyes widened and he stood up straight "later Granny, later Temari; I got to 'talk' with Mei" he said as he grabbed her hand and ran out of the cafeteria.
"Lucky bastard" Raiga said.
"I'll say" Kisame said.
"I best get going too" Temari said standing up "have a nice evening lady Tsunade" she said and Tsunade nodded.
"Goodnight Temari" Tsunade said and Temari nodded and walked away; Temari exited the cafeteria and walked down the hall. As she did so Temari saw someone walking towards her; he was wearing an anbu mask and had long black hair tied into a ponytail.
"Excuse me miss; have you seen Lady Tsunade" Itachi asked with a kind voice.
"Yes she's in the cafeteria" Temari said 'wow he sounds nice; i bet he's cute under that mask' she thought. "Who are you if you don't mind me asking" Temari said and Itachi bowed.
"Weasel; anbu of Konoha" Itachi said and Temari bowed in return
"Temari; the fifth Kazekage" Temari said with a smile and Itachi looked up.
"It's a pleasure meeting you Lady Kazekage" Itachi said before standing up straight "I must get going; i appreciate your help" he said before walking away.
Temari looked at Itachi walk away and smiled 'hmmm… I wonder if he's single' Temari thought as she walked away 'maybe I'll talk to him later' she thought.
3 days later: In the meeting chamber
Naruto and Ao were standing on either side of Mei as was sitting down as the meeting was about to start; Naruto looked over and saw the others and noted them.
Tsunade was sitting in between Jiraya and Itachi as she folded her hands in front of her face.
A the Raikage had both Yugito and his second in command Darui beside him as he waited impatiently for the meeting to begin.
Temari was sitting in between her brother Kankuro and her advisor Lady Chiyo.
Lastly there was the Tsuchikage Onoki with his granddaughter Kurotsuchi and his body guard Akatsuchi.
Lastly there was Mifune the leader of the land of Iron and the mediator of the summit "I hereby call this summit to commence" Mifune stated before looking over to Tsunade "I recognize Tsunade Senju to begin the talks" he said and Tsunade cleared her throat.
"My fellow kage; over the past few months there have been numerous attacks on our villages and out jinchuriki" Tsunade said looking around "from what we gathered three biju have been taken; two from Iwa and one from Kiri" she said. "Along with that, four other jinchuriki have been attacked and without the efforts of the teams of leaf, cloud and mist shinobi they would've been taken as well" Tsunade said "and all this points to one source; the group known as the Akatsuki" she said.
"I call to speak" Temari said and Mifune nodded "how has this happened, why were three biju take so easily; the three tails had no host, but why did Iwa not tell us that their jinchuriki were missing until after the fact" she asked and Onoki looked over.
"I could not risk such information getting out" Onoki said "if i did then Iwa would appear open for attack; two of our most powerful shinobi were taken and we could look weak to any other village" he said and A slammed his fist onto the desk.
"I wanna speak" A said and Mifune nodded "when Yugito here was taken from Kumo by the Akatsuki I informed Konoha and Kiri immediately; regardless of how it made the village look" he said. "If it wasn't for them the Akatsuki would have four Biju and Kumo would've lost one of our best shinobi" A said "it was not about strength; it was about pride, and if you asked for assistance we could've done something" he said.
"I do not trust any of you" Onoki said "Iwa hasn't recovered from out last war against Konoha and we couldn't risk it" he said and Jiraya raised his hand
"Or is it because you knew that it was your fault" Jiraya said while looking at Onoki who was now frowning "because from what my informant has told me is that Iwa has been using the Akatsuki from as far back as eight years ago" Jiraya said.
'Informant; I wouldn't use that word exactly' Itachi thought.
"What the hell; you've been using the Akatsuki" Naruto shouted "what are you stupid or something old man" he said and Onoki looked at him.
"I don't even know who you are boy" Onoki said "but you better hold your tongue" he said and Naruto growled.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki; Konoha shinobi, Seven Swordsman and son of Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki" Naruto said making Onoki go wide eyed.
"Wait you're a Konoha ninja" Onoki said and Naruto nodded "then how the hell are you a Seven Swordsman and why the hell are you on the Mizukage's side" he asked and Mei smiled.
"Because Naruto here is my lover" Mei said as she reached over and grabbed his hand "we've been a couple for just over 3 years now" she said and Naruto smiled and began to giggle.
"I'm totally dating this lady" Naruto said with a foxy grin and Onoki went wide eyed.
"I don't understand the world anymore" Onoki said "a foreigner dating a Kage" he said
"I know right" Jiraya said "and the fact he wasn't even a chunin when they started dating" he said rubbing his temples.
"Fucking bullshit" A said.
"Lets get back on track" Mifune said "Lady Tsunade; what is your plan" he said and Tsunade looked around.
"I call for a coalition of all five great nations in order to battle the Akatsuki and their followers" Tsunade said "Konoha has five thousand shinobi, Kumo and Iwa have the most at six thousand each, Kiri has four thousand and Suna has the least at three thousand" she said. "With our combined forces we could engage the Akatsuki and destroy them" Tsunade said and Mei spoke up.
"And we'll need to combine our forces to stand a chance" Mei said "the Akatsuki has six remaining members, all S-class threats; not including the fact they have three Biju and who knows how many foot soldiers under their thumb" she said
"No matter that I'm in" A said shocking everyone "a few days ago they tried to kidnap my brother B; if Darui didn't get involved who knew what would've happened" he said. "The Akatsuki are a threat we need to dispose of; you have my support" A said.
"Lets put this to a vote" Mifune said looking around "all those in favor of forming a coalition raise your hands" he said. Tsunade, Mei, Temari and A all raised their hands while Onoki kept his hand down.
"Iwa has nothing at stake in this fight" Onoki said "we lost our two Biju already; i will not sacrifice the lives of my ninja for something as petty as revenge, Iwa will remain neutral" he said and the other four kage looked on in annoyance.
"Wise choice old man" came a voice as a vortex appeared in the middle of the room; Madara appeared out of the vortex and stood straight "best to acknowledge defeat early; you learned from your past war" he said.
Everyone in the room stood up and grabbed their weapons while looking at the masked man in the middle of the room; Naruto gripped his sword ready to strike as the masked man spoke.
"I did not come to fight; just to deliver a message" Madara said looking around "I am coming for the remaining Jinchuriki; you cannot hide them from me, the Akatsuki will see it's plan come to fruition" he said and Naruto growled.
"Shut the fuck up" Naruto roared as he blurred forward swinging his sword and landing in a crouch; Madara stood there untouched except for a small cut in his Akatsuki robe.
"You got faster boy; but not fast enough" Madara said "Like i said I did not come to fight; i came here to say this" he said as he looked around. "I Madara Uchiha and the Akatsuki, hereby declare war on the nations of Konoha, Kumo, Kiri and Suna" Madara said shocking them all "make peace with whatever god you wish; for in six months time you will all fall and you're jinchuriki will be mine" he said as he began to vortex away. "Good luck… Naruto… Itachi" Madara said looking to Itachi who took off his mask revealing his face which was a mixture of anger and malice emphasized by his glowing sharingan.
"We won't lose to you" Itachi said and Madara chuckled "we'll see" Madara said as he vanished.
The room was left in silence as the declaration of war echoed int he mind of everyone "Goddamn it" Tsunade shouted as she punched the table breaking it in half "looks like the fourth great ninja war has now began" she said.
Meanwhile (Unknown Location): With Madara
Madara appeared out of his vortex into a concrete bunker "you're back" came a voice and Madara looked over; Sasuke was standing there still bandaged from his fight "is it time" he asked and Madara nodded.
"Yes" Madara said as he and Sasuke began to walk out of the room and down the hall "we have six months to prepare" he said and Sasuke nodded.
"I still get Itachi" Sasuke said and Madara nodded.
"Of course" Madara said plainly "but remember your role" he said as he and Sasuke reached a platform with a metal fence on the edge.
"I won't" Sasuke said as he looked down off the platform to the open area down below.
There were over two thousand men below Sasuke and Madara; most were wearing Oto ninja equipment while others still wore their scrubs from their time as Orochimaru's experiments.
"We're going to war" Sasuke announced with a tone of authority.
"Yes sir" the former Oto members shouted in acknowledgment as Sasuke smirked.
'Itachi… Naruto' Sasuke thought 'prepare yourselves; because your days are numbered' he thought
