The First Attack
*Valjean comes to the barricade wearing a national guard uniform*
Enjolras: Who are you and why are you here?
Valjean: I come as a volunteer.
Enjolras: You mean like that guy over there? *points to where Javert is tied up* Here's a gun, but no funny business!
Combeferre: The National Guard is coming!
Soldier: Who's there?
Enjolras: French Revolution!
Soldier: French Revolution who?
Enjolras: It's not a joke!
*a short skirmish, in which Valjean saves Enjolras from being shot*
Valjean: Give me the spy.
Javert: The mouse has caught the cat! The fly has caught the spider! The law is turned upside down!
Valjean: *takes Javert a little distance from the barricade and cuts his bonds* You're free. I have spared your life.
Javert: Say what now?
Valjean: Get out of here before I change my mind! *fires his gun in the air*
Drink With Me
Enjolras: Courfeyrac, you take the watch.
Grantaire: Hey Tales, you want a drink?
Tales: I'm not in the mood for wine right now.
Marius: Still sad because of Éponine's death?
Tales: She's my favorite character next to Gavroche! Of course I'm still grieving for her! You, on the other hand, read Cosette's letter the second she breathed her last breath!
Feuilly: If you won't have a drink, will you at least sing with me?
Tales: Sure, Feuilly.
Feuilly: Drink with me to days gone by
Sing with me the songs we knew
Jehan Prouvaire: Here's to pretty girls who went to our heads! *winks at Tales*
Tales: Sorry Jehan, I'm already spoken for.
Grantaire: Do you ever feel like our fight is pointless?
Tales: Nothing in life is pointless, R. Doesn't friendship matter to you?
Grantaire: I don't have any friendships. *addressing Enjolras* Unless it's your friendship.
Girls in the audience: Awww!
Marius: Nothing matters to me except Cosette!
Bring Him Home
Valjean: So that's the boy Cosette fell in love with.
God on high,
Hear my prayer!
In my need
You have always been there.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home—-or else Cosette will kill me for not saving her boyfriend!
Tales: While you're at it, can you pray for God to save the rest of the barricade boys, too? Maybe if you had sung a song for each of them, they would have lived.
