Chapter 11: New Family

In Lana's dream, Lana's POV:

I woke up with a sharp pain in my head. My head throbbed as I slowly opened my eyes. When I regained my vision, I panicked when I saw that I was tied to a punching bag with ropes. My dad, Miles was next to me, tied up as well. We just escaped Spider-Man HQ but for some reason, the go-home machine did not send us to the right world.

"Dad?" I said. Miles didn't respond. He was still knocked out. I looked ahead of me to see that Uncle Aaron was standing in front of me.

Uncle Aaron had this emotionless look in his eyes.

"Uncle Aaron?" I said nervously. Uncle Aaron said nothing and raised the bag up so that my feet were not touching the ground.

"Dad! Wake up!" I shouted. I heard Miles groaning as he slowly opened his eyes.

"Lana?" Miles groaned. Miles panicked when he saw that he was tied up. Miles saw Uncle Aaron in front of us.

"Uncle Aaron!" Miles shouted. Uncle Aaron didn't respond. I got more nervous when I saw him sharpening the knife. Miles' panic increased.

"Woah, Uncle Aaron- just chill, okay? We can work something out! We can-" Miles was cut off when Uncle Aaron walked up to us with the knife.

"Work something out? Tch." Uncle Aaron said. Just as Uncle Aaron raised the knife, I saw red and orange sparks fly past us. Uncle Aaron lay dead on the ground.

I looked up to see our husband, Miguel standing over Uncle Aaron's dead body.

"Miguel?" Miles said. Miguel turned around and looked at us. He gave us a dead glare in his eyes.

"I warned the both of you. Now you two are going to pay the price." Miguel said.

"Miguel, wait!" I shouted. Miguel ignored me and struck Miles with his claws. Miles became lifeless.

"Dad! No!" I screamed.

Miguel turned to look at me. "You should have listened to me," Miguel said. Miguel raised his claws and struck me.

I screamed before everything went black.

End of Dream

My eyes shot open. I was in team RWBY's dorm. Was that just a dream? I have been having recurring dreams about recent events that have been happening in my home world recently. Before I ran away from home, Miguel had been holding me and Miles captive at Spider-Man HQ and forced us to marry him to make sure that we did not disrupt a canon event.

I tried to move to get up from my bed, but I couldn't. Nothing was holding me down. I looked in front of me to see a dark shadowy figure with glowing red eyes walking towards me. The eyes stared deep into my soul as it walked towards me.

I tried to call out for help, but my mouth didn't make any sound. The shadowy figure kept coming at me. My breathing became heavy. Right now, it was right in front of my face. I could feel my face and hands sweating.

"Lana?" I heard a voice call to me. I couldn't see who it was that was calling me. "Lana. It's okay. Come back to me."

I recognized that voice to be Weiss's voice. I tried to reach for her hand, but I couldn't. My body still wouldn't let me move.

"It's okay, Lana. Just breathe." Weiss said. I did as she said and steadied my breathing. When I was fully calmed down, the demon disappeared. I could move my body again.

"Weiss?" I said.

"It's okay Lana. I'm here." Weiss assured me. "What happened?"

I looked around me to see the rest of Team RWBY and Team JNPR standing in front of me. The sun shone brightly through the windows. It was morning time already?

"It's okay Lana. You can tell us anything." Pyrrha said.

I took a deep breath before continuing, "I-I had a nightmare. My Uncle kidnapped me and my dad. Then, my husband killed him and then he killed us. When I woke up from the nightmare, I couldn't move. I-I think I was having sleep paralysis." I said.

"Sleep paralysis?" Nora said.

"Have you had one of those before?" Blake asked me.

"I- only a couple of times. It happens when my anxiety is really high." I said.

"Wait a minute. You have a husband?" Weiss questioned.

"Yeah," I said.

I told both teams the story about my husband forcing me and Miles to marry him. I told them of the abuse that he put us through. I even showed them some of the scars from my abuse.

"Oh my. That is really horrible." Pyrrha said, with sympathy in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry," Blake said.

"Where is that bastard so I can kill him?!" Yang shouted with her eyes glowing red and her hair burning yellow.

"He's not here..." I said. I also told them about my wife, Margo, and the rest of my family.

"Well, at least you have some family members who care about you," Ren said.

"You have us, too," Ruby said.

"Thanks, guys," I said with a few tears forming in my eyes.

"Anytime," Ruby said.

"You can get some more rest. The rest of us are gonna talk for a while." Jaune said.

"Thanks," I said.

"Oh, and here. I forgot to give you this back." Weiss said. Weiss gave me my scroll back.

"Thanks, Weiss," I said. Weiss nodded before leaving the room with the rest of the teams.

I tried to get some sleep but honestly, I didn't really want to after what just happened. Sleep paralysis is some scary stuff. My dad gets some sleep paralysis too. I just laid in bed while thinking about my family.

I wondered where they were. Did they even notice that I was missing? If they did notice I was missing, I wondered if they would be looking for me right now.

I decided to brush off the thoughts and scroll on Instagram for a while. After a couple of hours later, Team RWBY and Team JNPR came into the dorm again.

"Hey, Lana. Do you have a few seconds to talk?" Ruby asked.

"Yeah, sure," I said. I got down from my bed and sat down next to both teams. "What's up?"

"Well, we have been talking and..." Ruby said.

"Do you want us to adopt you?" Pyrrha asked. My eyes widened in shock. All of them wanted to adopt me?

"It's okay if you do not want us to," Blake said.

"We can't replace your real family. But until you find them, we can love and care for you like you are our own." Weiss said.

"Do you guys really mean that?" I asked.

"Of course we do!" Yang said.

"We wouldn't be asking you if we were not serious," Jaune said.

I took some time to think about this. I'd feel bad because I didn't want my family to think I would be replacing them. On the other hand, I might not see my family again. If I didn't see my family again, I would want someone to love and care for me like I was their own daughter. After a few minutes, I made my decision.

"What do you decide?" Ren asked me.

"I think... I want you guys to adopt me." I said.

"Are you sure?" Ruby asked me, placing her hand on my shoulder.

"Yes, I'm sure," I said.

"Awesome!" Nora said excitedly.

"Okay then. We are now your parents, but first, we need to go to Professor Ozpin's office and fill out some paperwork to get this approved." Yang said.

"Okay," I said. As we made our way to Professor Ozpin's office, I couldn't stop thinking about how some people would go out of their way to take me in as their own daughter. It was really meaningful to me.

When we got to Professor Ozpin's office, we filled out some paperwork and got the adoption approved. We all cheered when we made it back to the dorms.

"Thank you, guys, so much," I said.

"You're welcome," Nora said.

"I know! We should go out to celebrate!" Yang said.

"Oh, great idea sis!" Ruby said.

"You can pick where you want to go," Jaune said. It was nice that my new parents were letting me pick where I wanted to go for dinner. I never got this kind of treatment back at my family, well only on my birthdays and other special events.

After I picked the place I wanted to go to for dinner, we left the dorm rooms. While we waited for our food, I realized it was going to be confusing to call them all 'mom' so I decided to come up with different names to call them by. I wrote down a list.

Weiss- Mother

Blake- Mama/Ma

Yang- Mom

Here is for team JNPR:

Jaune- Daddy

Nora- Mommy

Pyrrha- Mom

Ren- Dad

"Those are some unique names," Blake said when I showed them the list.

"Thanks, Ma," I said.

"Hey, we forgot to ask you. When is your birthday?" Yang asked.

"It's May 8th," I said. My birthday was a while away.

"Have you ever had a birthday before?" Nora asked.

"No, not really. The only birthday I had was when I was young before all the crazy stuff happened with my family." I said.

"Well then, we'd better throw you a birthday party!" Nora shouted.

"Nora now is not the time. We have school to focus on." Weiss said.

"Aw come on, we need to give our daughter a special birthday because she hasn't had one," Nora said.

Weiss sighed. "Fine," Weiss said.

"What are some things you like?" Jaune asked. I listed some of the things I liked. One of my favorite things was movie theaters as I mentioned before. The new Maleficent live-action movie was out and I really wanted to see it before it leaves the theater.

"Thank you guys for dinner and for adopting me," I said.

"Don't mention it," Jaune said.

"It's the least we could do," Pyrrha said.

Ruby wrapped my arms around me, pulling me into a hug. "We love you, Lana," Ruby said.

"I love you guys too," I said.

I smiled. For the first time in my life, I felt happy. I am happy that I have people who love me and care about me.
