Chapter 12: Lana's Birthday Party

Today is my birthday. Well, not really my birthday because my birthday was months ago but it's my 'birthday' because my new parents, team RWBY and team JNPR are throwing me a party to celebrate all the past birthdays I have missed. I haven't had a proper birthday in so long because I have been having all these crazy things going on with my family in the past. My wife and my parents gave me gifts but there was no time for a celebration.

I had a blindfold around my eyes so my parents could surprise me. Ruby and Yang guided me through the building and led me into a room. Yang took the blindfold off me.

"SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled.

Streamers and confetti flew everywhere. There was a big banner saying 'Happy birthday Lana'. A cake was on a table with presents piled up. Balloons were everywhere.

"Happy birthday, Lana!" Ruby shouted. "Well, happy late birthday that is."

"Wow, thank you guys so much!" I said with some tears in my eyes.

"No problem," Blake said.

"Do you want to open your presents or have cake first?" Nora asked me.

"Presents of course!" I said.

My parents handed me the presents. For my birthday, I got a Taylor Swift shirt from Ruby, From Weiss I got a necklace that was made out of real diamonds, from Blake I got a book called 'The Man with Two Souls', the one she was reading when I first met her, and from Yang, I got a gaming counsel and some video games.

From Jaune, I got some more video games and a couple of movies, from Nora I got Taylor Swift albums, the Reputation album which was one of my favorite albums from her, and the 1989 one which was my second favorite. Nora also gave me high-quality headphones, which were the color purple, my favorite color. From Pyrrha, I got a 12-month Animal Jam membership gift card. Ren gave me some Wonder Woman comics.

"Thank you guys for the gifts," I said.

"You're welcome," Jaune said.

"Now it's time for the cake," Yang said. They put the candles on the cake and lit them. After we got the candles lit, everyone sang to me 'Happy Birthday'.

I turned 14 years old a few months ago in May. I was younger than everyone else here.

I blew out the candles when the song was over. I blew them out in one strong blow.

"What did you wish for?" Nora asked me.

"It's a secret," I said. Yang got out the knife and cut the cake. Nora ate almost half the cake.

"Mommy, save some for me!" I said while laughing. Yang gave me a couple of pieces of cake.

"Thanks, Mom," I said.

"You're welcome. Eat up!" Yang said.

Without hesitation, I dug into the cake. I ate the cake really fast, so I got a couple more pieces.

"Slow down Lana, or else you will get sick," Weiss said after I finished eating the fourth piece.

"Can't I have one more piece, Mother?" I asked.

"No, you're gonna need room for our next activity," Weiss said.

"What's the next activity?" I asked.

"We rented out a movie theater for you," Weiss said.

"Woah, seriously?!" I gasped. My eyes lit up.

"Yeah! It's the new Avengers: Endgame movie." Jaune said.

"Wow, thank you so much!" I said happily.

"The movie is in a few hours so we have some time to hang out," Jaune said.

"Okay," I said.

Team RWBY and I decided to have a pillow fight while we waited for our movie to start. We got our battle stations set up in the dorm room. Ruby was the first to make her move.

"Weiss! Your chilly reign of terror has finally come to an end!" Ruby yelled.

Weiss gave out an evil laugh. "Ha! Ha! Ha! Don't make me laugh. As I did just now!" Weiss said.

Ruby jumped up and flipped her pillow around, causing Weiss to be knocked down. Weiss did a landing pose and landed on her two feet. Weiss made a white circle with her weapon. Blake jumped on the white circle and charged towards Ruby, armed with pillows. Blake threw a pillow at Ruby. Ruby landed hard on the bookshelf.

"Mommy!" I shouted. I glared at Blake. "You will pay."

I charged towards Blake and threw a pillow right in her face.

"Nice one, Lana! Now let me have some." Yang said. Yang threw a couple of pillows at Blake's face. Blake dodged the pillows. One of them landed on Weiss. Yang's eyes turned red and shot multiple pillows toward Blake. Blake dodged the pillows easily with the shadows she was leaving behind.

Blake jumped on the bed and gave a wink as Yang continued to throw the pillows. I helped Yang and threw some pillows at Blake too. When Blake was distracted, Yang and I went to go check on Ruby who was lying 'lifeless' on the ground. Yang and I acted devastated.

"Nooooo! She was so young..." Yang said.

"My Mommy is dead...!" I shouted, fake sobbing.

"Yang, Lana..." Ruby said. Ruby gave out a couple of coughs. "Avenge... me..."

Ruby made some dramatic dying noises before 'dying'. Ruby played dead.

"Can we play another game?" I asked.

"Sure, what game?" Yang asked me.

"I wanna play duck duck splash!" I said.

"What is that?" Weiss asked.

"It's duck duck goose but when you get picked you get splashed with with water!" I said.

"That sounds like fun!" Ruby said.

"Let's go get the others," I said. I gathered Team JNPR. I filled up some buckets of water before going outside. We gathered in a big circle outside so we could start the game. I was the first to go.

I grabbed my bucket of water and then dropped small drops of water on everyone's heads as I was going around saying: "Duck... Duck... Duck..." I continued going around the circle for a while until I have found my first victim, which was Ruby. "Duck Duck Splash!"

I poured the bucket and the water splashed all over Ruby. Ruby got up and started chasing me.

"I'm gonna get you!" Ruby said.

"You can't catch me!" I said, running around the circle and laughing. I made it to Ruby's spot before she could catch me, sitting next to Weiss and Pyrrha.

Now Ruby was the one going around with the bucket. We continued on with the game for a while. This was fun, I haven't had this kind of fun in a long time.

Yang was the one going around with the bucket now. "Duck... Duck... Duck... Duck Duck Splash!"

It was my turn to get wet. Yang splashed the bucket and the water splashed all over me, covering my entire body. I was soaking wet. Yang started chasing me around the circle. I kept running, but unfortunately, she was able to catch me. I had to go into the middle of the circle because I was out.

Soon after we finished playing the game, it was time to go to the movie. I have been looking forward to the movie all day. Team RWBY and JNPR took me to the movies when I finished getting ready.

I have already seen this movie on the premiere night and a few other times before. I am a movie-goer so I see just about any movie that releases in the theaters. I haven't been to the movies in a while though because life got in the way and I was focused on school.

We checked in when we got to the theater. They gave us the theater that we had rented out. I was surprised when the manager led us to the Imax theater.

"The Imax theater?" I said, confused.

"Yes. We wanted to do something special for you since you haven't been able to in a long time." Weiss said.

"I love this! Thank you guys so much!" I said happily.

"You're welcome. Now let's go get our food." Pyrrha said.

"Okay," I said.

We got our snacks and sat down in the very back of the theater where I always like to sit. I requested for them to play the previews before the movie started. That's one of the best things about having a private movie theater is that you are in control. You do not have anyone else around you to bother you.

The previews are the best part of the movie. I wanted to take a picture of all of us so we can remember this moment.

"Can we take a picture?" I asked.

"Sure," Jaune said. I got out my scroll. We gathered around and took a picture. The picture turned out great! I'm definitely putting this picture in my diary.

After a while of the previews, it was time for the movie to start. The movie was amazing. I've seen it a few times before, but the movie gets better and better for me each time I see it. There were some emotional scenes in the movie. I always cry at the last scene because Tony Stark dies.

The final battle scene is one of my favorites in the movie. I love watching all the Avengers get together and fight Thanos, one of the supervillains. The movie was three hours long. I needed to get up to go to the bathroom at one point during the movie but I didn't want to miss anything.

We stayed for the credits even though there were not any end-credit scenes.

After we were finished, we threw our things away and I rushed to the bathroom. Almost everyone did because it was a long ass movie.

"Thank you guys for my birthday. I haven't had a nice birthday in so long." I said as we were walking back home.

"You're welcome, Lana. We love you." Blake said.

"I love you guys too," I said. I pulled everyone in for a group hug. Everyone returned my hug.

"Hey, I have an idea," Pyrrha said.

"What's that, Mom?" I said with curiosity.

"How about tomorrow, we work on unlocking you're semblance. Since we have the time now, we can work on that." Pyrrha said.

"That's a good idea," Ren said.

"I like that idea. I really want to unlock my semblance." I said.

"Okay then. Tomorrow we will meet at the courtyard so we can work on unlocking Lana's semblance." Weiss said. Everyone nodded in agreement.

"I wonder what my semblance is going to be," I said.

"Well, we will never know until we unlock it," Ruby said.

"True. I hope it will be a good one." I said.

"Don't worry. It will be." Blake assured me.

Today was wonderful. My party was amazing. I love all the gifts that my parents gave me. I am thankful that I found some people in my life who truly care about me and accept me for who I am.

Before I went to bed, I decided to write in my diary about my day and the birthday party that my parents threw for me.

I went to bed that night, feeling at peace. No nightmares, no sleep paralysis could take over me. I had a peaceful night's sleep with a wonderful dream.
