Author's Note: Hi all! Here is the next chapter! In this one, Topanga finds out the truth… yet she has a secret of her own to tell Cory…

CHAPTER THREE

Over the next few weeks, Cory was struggling every second to not tell Topanga the truth. Now things had been better than ever, they had been spending more time together. Having date nights together, staying in or going out. Topanga was looking happier, feeling happier. Cory was as well, he just felt too pressured with the secret.

One day, he finally decided to visit Katy. He hadn't seen her since that night and he needed to apologise and explain himself. Maybe she wouldn't understand or forgive him but he wanted to talk to her.

He walked into the bar and saw the blonde occupied with another customer, laughing at something he said. He swallowed hard and called out to her.

"Katy."

She turned to look at him, he noticed her usual glow and smile had disappeared the second she laid eyes on him. "Can we talk?" He asked.

She nodded towards him and gestured for him to follow out back. He followed her through the bar until they were in a secluded part.

"You've got five minutes." She stated plainly, crossing her arms.

Cory nodded and sighed, "I'm sorry, Katy. For leaving you without a reason, that was a bad move. But all I could think about was my wife… and how much I loved her and regretted what I had done."

Katy looked down at the ground, trying her hardest to not cry. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry.

"I know I should've given you an explanation at the very least. You didn't deserve me leaving without a word." She didn't reply. "Say something, anything." He pleaded.

The blonde raised her gaze to him and stared into his eyes, "I'm pregnant, Cory."

His eyes widened in shock. Silence passed the pair, Katy was beginning to think he was going to run for the hills the way he was acting.

Cory finally opened his mouth to speak when the barmaid beat him to it.

"And before you ask, it's yours."

"I wasn't going to ask that."

"Oh." Katy replied and didn't say anything else, lowering her gaze to the floor.

"Are you keeping it?" He asked after a moment of silence. Her head snapped so quickly to him he thought she got whiplash.

She stared at him with daggers, "of course I am. I could never get rid of a baby, even if you are the father."

He grimaced at her words and took a moment before he sighed and said, "I want to be a part of their life." Her eyes widened, she was sure he would tell her to abort or want nothing to do with their child. "This is my-our baby after all." He corrected himself.

"What about your wife?" She asked and Cory shrugged.

"I'm going to talk to her, tell her. I have too, I should've done it that day." He sighed deeply, mentally slapping himself.

"Are you coming back once you have?"

Cory nodded, he would either way.

"I've got to get back to work." Katy stated, and then reached into her pocket handing him his driving licence. He didn't really realise he had lost it in the first place. "You dropped it in the hotel… I was going to drop it to your apartment but figured you'd come back to the bar."

"Katy…" Cory began but she held a hand up to stop him continuing.

"Don't. Just go speak to your wife." Katy cut him off before heading off back to the bar, leaving Cory to think for a moment. He covered his face with his hands, letting out a small grunt. He had really messed up.

The man uncovered his face and let out a breath before shoving his licence into his back pocket and walking out the back towards his home.

On his way back, it gave him time to think of what he would tell Topanga.

'Hey Topanga, I got a girl pregnant the night we fought and now she's having my kid. But I still want to be with you.' He shook his head. There was no way he could tell her without her hating him. He just had to risk losing her forever. His heart broke at the thought.

The brunette eventually made it home, reaching their apartment door. He found himself stuck, he would walk in a happily married man with a loving wife and leave potentially soon to be divorced. Cory shook his head of the thought and unlocked the door, letting himself in.

He threw his keys in the bowl next to the door and saw her in the kitchen, she seemed to be staring at something in her hands. He furrowed his brows before walking closer to her.

"Topanga?" He called out, she slowly turned around to look at him and that's when he saw a small rectangular shape in her hand. "Topanga?" He called out again.

"I'm pregnant, Cory." She blurted out, his eyes widened again. He had just gotten two women pregnant.

He stared in shock, "you're pregnant?" He questioned thinking he didn't hear her correctly. But her nod sent him back into shock.

She walked over to him, "can you believe it? Our own little family…" she wrapped her arms around his neck, "...just what we've always wanted." She smiled, Cory could tell it was her special smile. The one she reserves for special moments like this. He tried to smile, he tried to be happy, he really did.

"You don't seem happy." She pointed out, removing her hands from around his neck when he stared nervously at her. "Cory, what's wrong?"

He held his breath, "Topanga there's something I have to tell you…"

Topanga looked concerned, "what is it?" She asked.

He took a deep breath and turned to sit on the couch, worrying Topanga further.

"Cory, you're scaring me."

He finally mustered the courage to look into her eyes and took a deep breath as he said, "I lied to you about the night we fought."

She looked confused, "what about it?" Topanga crouched down beside him.

'Now or never', Cory thought.

"I… I met someone…" Topanga's eyes widened, "she's pregnant, Topanga. I got another girl pregnant."

She stared at him, Cory couldn't tell what emotions she was feeling. Hatred? Heartbroken? Angry?

Topanga looked away from him, towards the ground until he called her name again. She snapped her gaze to him and before either knew it, she got up and ran towards the bathroom. Cory followed in suit but she slammed the door on his face.

"Topanga?" He called out but all he could hear was her throwing up. "Topanga? Are you okay?" He mentally slapped herself at the question.

Once she had finished, she simply leaned back against the bathtub and rested her head on her knees, crying as she did.

Cory knocked on the door, "Topanga?" She didn't respond, "I'm coming in." He stated and slowly opened the door.

He looked around before seeing Topanga on the floor, crying her heart out. His heart broke at the sound, knowing he was the reason she was crying.

Cory knelt beside her, and reached out to touch her but his hand was pushed away.

"I-I-I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am, Topanga… you mean everything to me. If I could take back what I have done then I would."

She didn't reply to any of the words, she was too hurt right now too.

"Just say something to me, anything… if you want me to leave then I will… if you want me to stay I will… just please. Say something." He begged.

Her cries subsided for a moment as she raised her head to look at him, her eyes puffy and red from crying, tears stained down her cheeks.

"Are you leaving me for her?" Was her first question. He appeared confused.

"No, no, I would never leave you for anyone." Cory began, "I love you too much."

Topanga scoffed at his words, "you love me? Because you can't love me enough if you cheat on me with the first girl you lay your sights on!" She stated, voice raised slightly.

Cory looked at the ground, "I'm so sorry, Topanga."

"Stop saying that, stop saying you're sorry." She took a breath, "Why did you do it, Cory? Am I not enough for you? Was I not giving you enough attention?"

Cory shook his head, "no, no. It had nothing to do with that. You're always going to be more than enough for me… I can't explain why I did what I did. It just… happened. I've regretted it ever since, I've wanted to tell you for weeks."

"Then why didn't you?" She spat out.

"I… I don't know…" Cory replied, looking down at the floor.

Topanga took a breath, "I need to be on my own for a while." He looked back at his wife although she couldn't bring herself to look at him again.

Cory nodded sadly, "I'll wait in the living room." He got up off the floor and left his wife alone in there, he took a final glance before leaving and closing the bathroom door behind him.

The younger man wandered back into their living room, carefully sitting on the couch.

The realisation of it all had finally hit him. He was going to be a dad, what he had always dreamed of. But never did he think it wouldn't be with just Topanga.

Cory wasn't sure how long it was before he heard the sound of their bathroom door opening and looked over to see Topanga making an appearance. She looked like she was going to cry all over again at seeing him.

She slowly walked in and sat down a distance away from Cory, arms hugging her stomach.

His gaze remained on her, waiting for a word from his wife. He couldn't say anything to make it all better.

"I'm not giving up." She stated, after a few moments of silence.

Cory appeared confused, "you're not giving up on what?"

She looked over at him, "on us. We've been through too much to let this break us." He smiled and moved closer to her, but her hand stopped him from moving too close. "But this doesn't mean that our trust hasn't been broken. I still love you so much, but I don't trust you." She paused, "you're going to have to earn my trust back."

He nodded in understanding, he was just happy she wasn't throwing him out. That would break him for good.

"And as for… the girl you got pregnant…" Cory looked down as Topanga seemed to struggle with the words, "I'm not going to stop you being in your child's life. Whatever happens, it'll be between you both."

Cory nodded again, "I promise you that from this day onwards, I will never do anything to question your trust in me again."

Topanga nodded, "it's going to take me a while to believe that." She sighed, "I love you, Cory."

"I love you too, so much Topanga." She half smiled and then stood from the couch.

"I need to go lie down."

Cory nodded, "is there anything you need?" He asked, Topanga would've found it sweet had she not been feeling so heartbroken.

"I need vitamins." She stated plainly, although her voice was still thick with emotion.

"I can go get them for you while you rest." Topanga looked at him and nodded before leaving the room towards their bedroom.

Cory was left alone on the couch, he sighed and held his head in his hands. He made a mistake, a terrible mistake. Now, he was going to do everything in his power to put it right.

He finally got up from the couch and grabbed his keys and wallet, along with his jacket before heading out to the store, making a detour first.

He entered the empty bar and saw Katy sitting at a table reading through a magazine. He walked over to her.

"Mind if I sit?" He asked, she looked up at him and nodded once. She placed her magazine onto the table and looked at him with her arms crossed.

"How did it go with your wife, did you tell her?"

Cory nodded, "she's not leaving me… but there's something I have to tell you."

"What?"

"My wife is pregnant." She looked wide eyed at him. "I'm really sorry, Katy."

She shook her head, biting her tongue. "So where does that leave us?" She questioned.

"How do you mean?" He asked with furrowed brows.

Katy shrugged, "well if you're with your wife still, and you have a kid on the way. Then there's no need for you to be in my child's life."

Cory looked at her in confusion, "hold on. Are you stopping me from being in this child's life because I won't leave my wife for you?"

Katy didn't say anything and simply stood up, "I think we are done here." Cory however grabbed her wrist and held her in place.

"You're not shutting me out of my child's life." He stated sternly, "this is my kid and yours."

Katy snatched her wrist back, "I'm sorry, Cory. But I've made my decision, and you have too. It's easier this way."

She began walking away but Cory got up and followed her, "no it's not. I deserve at least a say in this." She continued walking, "Katy, stop."

The blonde stopped and turned on her heels, "I've met someone else, Cory." He immediately stopped in his tracks, "he's going to raise my baby with me. I don't need you, your wife needs you."

Cory however shakes his head, "I can't let another man raise my child as theirs. Does he even know?"

Katy shakes her head, folding her arms, "he thinks this baby is his. And I'm not going to tell him otherwise, and neither will you."

Cory is lost for words, he wants to be in his baby's life. This baby is half of him, he can't let that go so easily.

He shook his head, "Katy, please don't shut me out of their life. Please." He begged.

The blonde sighed, "I'm sorry, Cory. But I have too." And with that said, she walked away from him. Both thinking that would be the last time either of them would see the other.

Cory watched her walk to the back of the bar; biting his lip to stop himself from crying. Crying over the loss of his child that he was never meant to meet. He nodded to no one and sniffled before heading out the bar to the store, purchasing Topanga's vitamins and a bunch of roses for her. He had to be happy for Topanga's sake, and for their baby's sake.

When he arrived home, Topanga had made herself comfortable on the couch, watching a movie while devouring a tub of ice cream. Unable to relax after what Cory told her.

She looked over at him as he walked over to her, and he smiled when he pulled out some flowers from behind him.

Cory passed them to Topanga who half smiled gratefully at him, it was a lovely thought.

"I got your vitamins as well… I wasn't sure what one you'd like so I thought you could try some and see." Cory shrugged, passing her some boxes and bottles of vitamins.

Topanga looked through the packaging and found a berry flavoured one she wanted to try and studied the amount she could have each day.

Cory smiled at her the entire time.

She finally looked over at him and furrowed her brows, "why're you smiling?" She wondered.

Cory shrugged, "you just make me smile." Topanga half smiled back at him; she knew he was trying.

He then made the brave move and took hold of Topanga's hand, "I am more than happy that I have you in my life, and now our own little creation is on the way. A bit of me and you. It's all I've ever wanted." He smiled at the end.

"What about your other baby? Where do they fit into your life?" Topanga asked, as a general question but also as a snide remark.

Cory sighed, "she's banished me from its life… she's with another guy and they're raising the kid together."

Topanga appeared shocked, "oh." Was all she could say. She couldn't bring herself to feel upset.

"Do you want me to make dinner?" Cory offered and Topanga nodded appreciatively.

They say time is a great healer, but how true is that for Cory and Topanga?

Thank you for reading! Topanga has forgiven Cory, but their relationship is still on the rocks. Can they survive this?
