CHAPTER 1

Even before the wizards , Sadie was having a miserable day - she was flying to London for a meeting with the ninth Nome and had to sit next to snoring Carter for the entirety of the ride with sloppy food and poor quality Wifi. After what seemed like an eternity, the announcement finally came on - ' You are now landing at Gatwick airport.'

After waking Carter up : poking him in the eye - hard - Sadie scrambled for the door of the plane, shoving several people out of the way in the process, all the while as Carter complained that 'It hurts!' or 'Don't leave without me!' 'Honestly', she thought, 'Such a whiner!'

When they had both got off the plane, Carter rubbing his eye vigorously, they made the long tube ride to Kings cross Station. On the way, Sadie noticed a strange man wearing a long cloak. She whispered into Carter's ear, " Do you think he's a magician?' Carter shook his head. He explained, ' Basic magicians don't wear that attire - they wear silk pyjamas like ours' - even around the entire world.'

'I know that you idiot!', Sadie seethed, 'But a normal person doesn't exactly dress like that do they?!' ' A cosplayer?' , Carter guessed. 'I don't think so' , said Sadie suspiciously, ' I think we should follow him.'

So, they waited for the mysterious man to get off, but he stayed on all the way to King's Cross, before getting up hurriedly and quickly rushing away : we had to run to catch up with him - the man obviously wanted to get somewhere ; and very quickly too.

They were both being as sneaky as they could and it paid off. A short while after getting onto the platform, he casually leaned up against the platform columns , looked around, and promptly...disappeared...

Carter and Sadie were extremely taken aback and both racked their brains for a possible spell this ' Magician ' could've used, but to no avail. After a few minutes of thinking, Carter finally spoke up: ' Maybe we should go to the ninth Nome and see if they know anything about this.'

After a short remark of ' Captain obvious, of course, Sadie agreed with Carter's proposal. So, they traversed heir way through the masses of crowds in the station to the street, where they hired a cab to take them to parliament.

When they got there, they spoke the password in front of the front gates - ' The Magician's Crocodile' - and almost immediately the doorkeeper, a small boy called Amir, appeared. He led them to where the meeting was being held.

It was a circular room painted with a dull grey, terribly defining the atmosphere, and a round table, with about a dozen occupied chairs clustered around it. Their occupants were either in deep discussion with serious tones, or scribbling down writing on small notepads. A short, middle - aged balding man approached to greet them.

The man had a short goatee and obviously had lots of authority - wherever he went, heads turned and eyes followed him. He called for silence and everyone complied. He ushered Amir out and us to our seats. He cleared his throat and began with a raspy voice, ' This meeting has been called due to the death of one of our informants inside the community of wizardry and witchcraft - 'Woah, woah, woah, what is this about wizards and witches?'

'I will answer in due course.' The magician said promptly. ' As I was saying... Sirius Black has died.'

This caused a babble of talk through the room - people obviously knew and respected this Sirius Black. The man continued, Carter's face full of fascination and incredulity. 'He recently escaped from the wizard prison Azkaban, in which he was in for murder, as we all know was framed, and espionage against the wizarding community. They obviously found out about us and arrested one of our best magicians as payback.

As a wizard and a magician, Black was extremely powerful and was very good to have on the inside, and we are all very vengeful of his death. We plan to take down the wizards that killed one of the best magicians the ninth Nome has ever seen!'
