Hi Readers: Welcome back to another day of me trying to write a story for you guys, as well as a new story; well, somewhat. Rather than write an entirely new story from scratch, this is going to be a re-write of The Caseys. And I know what you're going to say. This is not just a re-write of The Caseys, but another attempt at one. However, this time, I plan on doing it the way I originally wrote it; but, with some more chapters before their romantic vacation, and with Andy being alive. After all, I need to do a story with him being alive after all this time. And I truly believe that I can accomplish that. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy The Caseys: Revisited.

PART 1: RECONCILING THE PAST WITH OUR BRIGHT FUTURE

Chapter 1

SEPTEMBER 27, 2018 – CASEY HOME, CHICAGO – He thought he was dreaming as he walked into his home this morning. After all, as he walked in, he thought that he heard the shower running; though, he knew that couldn't be possible for one reason: he was the only one living here at the moment. Right now, Matthew James Casey (a name in which he just adopted, shortly after finally dropping the middle name Gregory; for obvious reasons) was living alone, in the home in which he and his wife were living together up until she left this past May. Then again, who else could be here taking a shower? Last time he checked, he and Gabby were the only ones with keys to their home. And as that was the case, he couldn't help but wonder whether his wish finally came true: his wife came home to him. She was here, taking a shower this morning. Either that, or it was just wishful thinking after the nice conversation they had yesterday.

A conversation which he thought had promise, promises of a reconciliation between the two of them; one which has already stared (in his opinion), albeit from a distance. Though, he didn't want to dig too much into these thoughts, as he was burned in the past; after all, this wasn't the first time she was home this past summer…only to leave him once more to go back to Puerto Rico. Though, there was just a part of him that truly believed that this was it: his chance to finally reconcile with the love of his life and make things better. Though, that also brought up so many questions; say they did reconcile, what would that life be like? Would things be better than they were before she left? Or would things just stay the same, leading to a possible deterioration of both their marriage and their relationship as a whole? God, there was so many questions that Matt wanted to ask his gorgeous wife; especially this first one:

Whether this was just a quick trip like the previous ones (where she only came to get clothes and go back to Puerto Rico), sometimes without even seeing him? Though, if he was being honest, he always knew that she came because of the sudden disappearance of certain clothes he wanted to wear. Clothes he may have either just worn the day before (which ultimately smelt like him, which Gabby must've loved): or, due to the fact that he could smell her in the clothes which she left behind for him to put in the laundry (which he gladly did, as he was already doing laundry anyways). Though, this time seemed different, for the simple fact that Matt thought he was actually going to see his wife this time around; and not just see her but get a chance to touch her. That is, if she lets hm into the shower with her. That way, he can feel his body against hers, rather than just enjoy the smell of his body wash.

And as he walked into the washroom right now, Matt couldn't help but smirk over the fact that he was right: Gabby was home; here, with him, in their washroom. She was here, taking a shower as she showed off just how sexy she was when she was naked. And as she did so, he smirked and admired her gorgeous body; something which Gabby wasn't really a fan of, due to the fact that she'd much rather have him do something else: join her in the shower. "You just going to stand there, or are you going to join me in the shower?" Surprised at the offer to join his gorgeous wife in the shower, Matt looked at the woman he loves; not that he didn't want to join her in the shower, he just didn't expect her to be so blunt about what she wanted. In fact, up until this very moment, he was still convinced that he was dreaming. Though, as it turned out, this wasn't a dream; rather, Gabby was here, with him, in the flesh.

She was home, with him, in Chicago. And since she was here, naked as she stood in the shower, he most certainly was going to join her because of how much he missed her. Though, he wanted to make sure that she knew this was really her decision; after how much he hurt her before she left, he wanted to make sure that she knew that she didn't need to feel obligated to ask him to join her in the shower if she didn't want him to join her. "I just want to make sure that's what you want, Gabby. Don't feel obligated if that's not what you truly want after what happened in May." Gabby nodded, as she knew precisely what Matt was talking about: those horrible things he said to her about how she can't have a baby. Though, she could look past that for now due to the fact that she wants him in the shower. "Why wouldn't I want you in the shower, when I've missed you?" Matt agreed with his wife and smiled at her.

After all, he most certainly wants to be in the shower with her. But first, he decided to tease her a bit by walking up to her with a towel around his waist; after which, he opened the door and smirked. "Let me guess, you missed me just as much as I missed you?" Stepping close to the man of her dreams, Gabby nodded as she placed her hands on his muscular body; the body which was much more lean and muscular than it was when she left. "Wow, you look great." Matt smirked as Gabby said that, as he felt the same way about her. "I can say the same thing about you, my sexy, naked wife." Matt said, as he wrapped his arm around Gabby and brought her chest against his. After which, he leaned in and kissed Gabby softly, while she placed her hands on his toned chest this morning. "God, I've missed you and I want you in the shower." Matt agreed. "I'll be right in; don't you dare wash up." Gabby agreed.

After all, the last thing she was going to do was wash up, when she had a chance to have him run his hands all over her body as he washed her this morning. "I wouldn't dream of it, when I could instead have you wash me this morning." Matt smirked, well aware that she would want that. "I had a feeling that you'd want that." He said, as he made his way over to the counter in the bathroom, only to set his boxers down on the counter next to her lingerie. After which, he started to make his way back to the shower, while also taking off his towel to hang it up next to hers. "Tease, much." Matt looked at Gabby when she said that. "And you don't think that you being naked in the shower when I got home isn't a tease? After missing you for so long, this is a real tease." Gabby agreed with her husband when he said that, letting out a sigh due to the fact that she knew how much he missed her. "I know, and I'm sorry."

Shaking his head, Matt knew why she didn't come home sooner: it was because of what he said. "Gabby, we both know why you didn't come home until now. It was because of what I said and how much I hurt you." Gabby nodded, as that was the truth; he truly did hurt her with what he said, and he knew it. "I'm glad that you can admit that right away." Finally taking off his towel, Matt went ahead and hung it up on the hook next to his wife's towel. "Gabby, we both know that I admitted it the moment I said it. Didn't you get my text about how I felt horrible? I sent it to you the morning after you didn't come home, shortly after learning you jetted off to Puerto Rico." Remembering the text, he sent her, Gabby nodded as she knew that was the truth. "Right, I remember that now." Matt smiled as he proceeded to finally step into the shower with the woman of his dreams, only to get close to her this morning.

After which, he wrapped his arms around her and smirked as he wrapped his arms around her waist; meanwhile, Gabby wrapped her arms around his shoulders and smiled as she stared up into his eyes, only to kiss the man she loves softly. And boy, did that feel nice. The way his lips felt against hers was always incredible, especially since she's the woman of his dreams. The woman he yearns for each and every day, especially after missing her for so long. "God, you have no idea how much I've missed you." Gabby agreed with Matt as she felt him move his hands to her hips, only to have him tug her body against his chest even more. "What time did you get in?" Gabby smiled. "The airport? Around 4:30. I got here around 6." Matt agreed with his wife. "I wish you told me on the call we had yesterday that you were flying in, I would've come to the airport to pick you up." Gabby snickered as Matt said that.

After all, she thought he was joking. "Sure, because Captain Casey could just leave the truck in limbo for hours. You didn't even have a lieutenant to take over." Smirking as he kissed his gorgeous wife, Matt shook his head as that wasn't true. After all, he does have a lieutenant to take over now; he's had one for a couple months, now that his best friend, Andrew Darden, recently became a Lieutenant just like Kelly. And honestly, all he could think about when he heard that news was that it was about time. He and Kelly had already been officers for almost a decade by the time he made Lieutenant. Now, he was a lieutenant, which meant that he could've easily came to get Gabby. "Andy's a lieutenant now." Gabby was surprised when she heard Matt say that. "And what does that have to do with our conversation?" Matt smiled. "Means that he could've taken over Truck 81 and let me go pick you up this morning."

Gabby agreed, as that was true. However, she didn't want to talk about him right now. "I don't want to talk about him, when we're in the shower with each other." Matt agreed, as he felt the same way as he pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "I feel the same way, especially since I have the most beautiful wife in the entire world; the sexiest, naked woman in the entire world in my arms." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that, smirking as she ran her hands up his back and kissed him softly. Meanwhile, Matt placed his hands on her neck as he took things nice and slow with the woman he wants nothing more than to fix his marriage with. He wants to be with her for the rest of their lives, which means that he needs to make sure that she knows that he wants to fix their marriage, and that he loves her more than anything. "Gabby, I hope you know that I love you more than anything, baby."

Looking up into Matt's eyes, Gabby agreed with her husband as she knew that was the truth. She knew that he loves her more than anything, which is why he didn't even need to say anything to let her know that; but having heard him say it just made her smile, as she loved hearing him say it. "I love you too Matt." Nodding, Matt brought Gabby closer to him and moved her head to his shoulder as he held his wife close to him. After which, he started to tear up; something which confused Gabby, as she had no idea why he was crying. "Hey, why are you crying, baby?" Taking a breath as he leaned back, Matt stared into Gabby's gorgeous eyes; while, at the same time, he placed his hand on the side of her face and stroked her cheek. "I hate to say this, but I was starting to lose hope that I would ever get the chance to hold you in my arms again." And it was just then that Gabby felt horrible, as the thought broke her heart.

The fact that her husband thought that he'd never get a chance to hold her in his arms again was something which was unbearable, as she wanted to be in his arms for the rest of her life. In fact, it was for that very reason (and the fact that she sensed that he felt that way during their call yesterday) that she decided to come home. "I know. I sensed those exact feelings in the call we had yesterday. I could see how hurt you were, and how you needed me to come home." Matt nodded, as he has been hurting. "Yeah, I've been hurting. It's been hard coming home to an empty house, when I know that you could be here; yet, at the same time, I also knew that it was my fault that you weren't here." Gabby looked into Matt's eyes when he said that. "How is it your fault?" Matt sighed. "Gabby, we both know you left because of what I said to you." Gabby nodded as she looked down, as that was the truth.

She left because he told her that she couldn't have a baby, which was the last thing she ever wanted to hear her husband say to her. "Matt, that hurt me more than you could ever know." Matt agreed with his wife. "And that's why I know that you're not entirely to blame for me having been alone for the past couple months, as I played a huge part in it. I made you leave because of what I said. And I just hope you know that I regret having uttered those words more than anything in the entire word. I've been thinking about how much I screwed up each and every day since you left, and you have to know that…if I could go back…then I'd go back in a second so that I wouldn't say those words. Please, tell me that you already know that, right babe?" Gabby agreed, as she knew that. "I know. I could see it in your eyes the moment you said those words that you regretted them." Matt agreed, as he did regret them.

Especially due to the fact that he hurt her, which was the last thing he ever wanted to do. "Of course, I regretted saying them the moment they came out of my mouth, as they hurt the woman I love, which was the last thing I wanted to do. I love you Gabby, and the last thing I wanted to do was hurt you." Gabby agreed with Matt, well aware that was the case; in fact, he didn't need to tell her that, because she could see how much he hates what he said simply by looking at her eyes…just like she could tell that her husband has been working out, based on the fact that he's so muscular now. "I know, Matt. And I also know that you've been working out." Smirking as Gabby said that, Matt turned them around to push Gabby against the wall of the shower. "You like?" He asked, as he moved his hands to Gabby hips and kept her right against his chest, while Gabby moved her hands to his abs.

That way, she could admire them and just hold him close. That was, until he picked her up in his arms and smirked as he wrapped her legs around his waist; only to push her against the wall and stare into her eyes, as Gabby wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed her husband softly. "I love you." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, as he felt the same way. "I love you too, Gabby. Forever." Taking a breath when Matt said that, Gabby couldn't help but wonder if he truly meant it when he said forever; especially when he can't give her what he wants in life. "Matt, are you sure that you mean forever?" Confused when he heard Gabby say that, Matt stared at his wife as if she was crazy. "Where did that come from?" Gabby sighed as she looked at the man of her dreams. And as much as she loved him, she couldn't help but wonder…what happens if she can't give him a baby. That broke him and Hallie up before.

Would that happen to them. "Matt, you said it yourself; I can't have a baby, so how can you be with me when I can't have a baby? And before you answer that question, I want you to think back to when you were with Hallie and what happened when she told you that she may never want to have kids." Matt sighed, as he knew that was the case. "Listen, can we not talk about this when we're naked in the shower? The last thing I want to do is talk about this when we're naked in the shower." Gabby agreed, as she felt the same way. "You want me to wash you?" Matt asked his wife, which she most certainly did. "Oh, I do. And I want to wash you." Matt nodded as he set Gabby down, which would allow them to wash each other. But before they did so, Matt moved his hand to his gorgeous wife's neck and smirked as he stepped close to her; only to lean in and kiss her neck softly, something which really turned Gabby on.

Meanwhile, she grabbed some soap and started to run her hands all over Matt's toned body, only to move her hands down there to turn him on; something which made him moan, as he touched her. "Oh, baby!" Smirking as she turned her head and stared into her husband's eyes, Gabby just knew that he loved that. Yet, she also couldn't help but wonder. "When did you start working out?" Matt smirked as Gabby asked him that question. "I've been working out all summer with Kelly to pass the time, rather than be in an empty house." Gabby nodded as she placed her hands on his face, as her heart broke when she heard Matt say that. "Matt, can I just say something about that quickly?" Matt nodded. "Always, what is it, baby?" Gabby took a breath. "Matt, I need you to know that I never intended to be gone so long. I mean that. I just…I needed space." Matt agreed with his wife, as that made sense.

But, what he didn't know…was what she was about to tell him next. "Then, when I thought that I was ready to come back around the start of July, I learned that I was pregnant so…" Surprised, Matt leaned back and stopped Gabby from talking, as he had to address that. "Ok. Slow down and just take it easy there. What?" Gabby sighed, as she knew that this was going to happen.

He needed to take a moment to himself to process what he just learned, before he could talk about it. His wife, the love of his life, recently miscarried a child he didn't even know about. And not only is she here with him but she survived. At least, she did physically. Emotionally, he had no idea whether she truly survived as he could only imagine just how hard this has been on her. For her to have grieved without him having been with her? He can only imagine how hard that's been on her. But right now, he didn't need to think about that. Right now, he needed to take a moment and compose himself; that way, he could be the man Gabby needed when he spoke to her in bed. And now that he was ready to do so, he came out of the washroom in his boxers, only to see Gabby laying down in bed in some lingerie. "Wow." Matt said, as he looked at the new lingerie Gabby was wearing. "Is that new?" Gabby sighed.

After all, it was new; and while she was going to wear it for Matt at some point, she didn't think it was going to be for this conversation about her miscarriage. But, she decided that it'd be best for her to wear it now, as she wanted him to talk to her and not shut her out. "Yes, it's new. And I was going to wear it for you another time, then I started to worry about whether you would even talk to me." Matt shook his head, as that wasn't something she had to worry about; especially not right now, when she's clearly still hurting. And since he's her husband, he's (of course) going to support her through this. "Gabby, you're clearly hurting right now. So, that means that I need to help you through this. That's my job as your husband, which is something I take seriously; especially after how I hurt you, so I'm hoping that I can make it up to you by holding you and making you feel better." Gabby agreed with her husband.

After all, that sounded incredible: the two of them, holding each other in bed as they talk about what happened. "You want to come sit in bed with me?" Nodding as he carried the sweats and shirt he grabbed in the closet, Matt nodded as he most certainly does want to join her in bed; and not just due to the fact that he needs to give her the comfort he should've given her when she learned the news, but due to the fact that she looks so sexy in that lingerie. "Oh, you couldn't stop me if you tried. I'm sorry, but that lingerie is way too sexy for me not to want to join you in bed." Gabby agreed with Matt and smirked, as she had a feeling that he would like the lingerie she was wearing for him. "There was this surprise deposit in my bank account, so I decided to use it to buy you a gift to make up for how long I was gone." Matt agreed with his wife. "Well, that wasn't necessary after what you already did for me."

Gabby was confused. "What do you mean, baby?" Walking up to Gabby's side of the bed, Matt proceeded to sit down next to her and placed his hand in her lap; after which, he stared into her eyes. "Gabby, you risked your life for me. I know that I said that I didn't want that, but you have no idea how grateful I am to be your husband. I don't understand how I'm feeling right now, but…even though you went against my wishes to not be pregnant, I feel somewhat honored that you did that?" Gabby was confused when she heard Matt say that. "How is that possible?" Matt took a breath. "Baby, you risked your life for me. You put your life on the line to make me a father. You could've died for having been pregnant, but you stayed true to your convictions and decided to still try and be pregnant just to make me a father." Gabby agreed with her husband, as that most certainly is the truth. That was why she stayed pregnant.

She wanted to be pregnant, as she wanted to make the love of her life a father. "That's precisely why I wanted to be pregnant, as I want to make you a dad." Matt agreed with his wife and smiled. "Uhm, can I ask how far along you were?" Gabby agreed with her husband. "I was 14 weeks along." Matt was surprised. "Wow, you made it all the way past your first trimester." Gabby agreed. "I didn't know it at the time, but I was 3 weeks pregnant when I left Chicago." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, as that was still something that surprised him. "Well, I'm just glad that you're ok. I hope you know that." Gabby agreed with her husband. "You want to show me that by joining me in bed and cuddling up to me?" Matt agreed with Gabby as he got up, only to walk around their bed so that he could get in with the woman he loves. "I'd be honored to get in bed with the woman who risked everything for me."

Gabby agreed with Matt, as she would do it all over again. "And I'd do it all over again, especially since…in the process of my miscarriage, I lost the aneurysm." Matt was surprised when he heard Gabby say that. "Wow, so that means…" Gabby agreed with her loving husband as he joined her in bed. "I can get pregnant." Matt agreed and smiled at his gorgeous wife, while she watched him slip close to her. After which, he closed the covers on top of them and smirked as he placed his hand on her back. "God, you look so sexy in this lingerie." Nodding as she cuddled up to her man, Gabby wrapped her arms around his head and leaned in to kiss him softly; only to run her hand down his toned chest. "I can say the same thing about you walking around in those tight boxers." Matt smirked when Gabby said that, well aware that she liked what she was seeing. "Good, because I plan on continuing to work out. Hell, I might even get a bigger gym set."

Gabby snickered when Matt said that. "With what money?" Matt smiled as he brought Gabby against his chest. "Well, let me first say this…this is not from the CFD, which I just quit." Gabby was confused. "Sorry, did you just say that you quit the CFD? Baby, that's our only source of income right now. I mean, this is crazy. I love you but…how could you be so stupid?" Matt nodded, as he understood why she thought it was stupid. He basically quit without talking to her. Though, he had good reason. "Slow down and take a breath, there's something you need to know." Gabby agreed with her husband. "Well then, how about you tell me what exactly you need to tell me. And it better be something that makes me truly believe that you aren't an idiot for having quit the CFD!" Matt nodded. "I just recently inherited 12.9 billion dollars." Gabby was shocked when she heard Matt tell her that.

No, shocked wasn't the right word to describe how Gabby felt at the moment. Rather, she felt flabbergasted and as though she was dreaming. I mean, she still felt like this was all a dream. Her surviving the pregnancy, her having lost the aneurysm, her being back with Matt; it still all felt as thought it was a dream, but this just felt like it was too much. I mean, did her husband just say that he inherited 12.9 billion dollars? As in, billion with a B. Not million with a B, but BILLION with B. That's a lot of money, and Gabby was still in disbelief and shock over what she was hearing as she laid down in bed with Matt for the first time. "Sorry, I don't mean to be quiet. This is just a lot to take in. I mean, is this real?" Matt agreed with his wife, as it was real. Though, he understood why she didn't believe him as he felt the same way at times. So, he decided to roll over in bed to grab some documents. "What are you doing?"

Opening his side table drawer, Matt reached in and went to grab the documents he just got from the lawyer his grandparents worked with to settle their will; the documents which left he and his sister billions of dollars, and which could easily prove to Gabby that he wasn't kidding. And as he grabbed them he took a breath and then rolled over to look at the woman he loves. "Here, these are the documents that I got a couple weeks ago." Gabby agreed with her husband when he said that, only to grab the documents which he just provided her to look them over. Meanwhile, Matt decided to explain why he quit. "And this was why I quit the CFD. I felt like it was wrong for me to work there when I have this wealth." Looking up at Matt when he said that, Gabby was confused. "Why? Being a firefighter is a noble job." Matt agreed with his wife, as it most certainly is. "Yes, yes it is. But, I was also taking up a spot."

Gabby was still perplexed when she heard Matt say that. "Sorry, how did you take up a spot while staying there?" Matt bit his lip. "I was an officer, and Andy just became a lieutenant. If I stayed, he couldn't move up; then, there were candidates at the academy that wanted to join the firehouse, so that meant that there were no spots left there if I stayed." Gabby thought about it and agreed, as that made sense. "Yeah, that makes sense." Matt agreed with his wife as well. "So, I thought…it'd be best if I get out of the way, so that more people can get jobs. That is, other than the people I plan on helping with this money." Gabby agreed with her husband when he said that. "Oh, definitely. I already know a couple projects this could help in Puerto Rico. I'll have to see whether we can donate directly to some projects that I personally worked on while I was down there." Matt sighed.

After all, he wasn't ready to do that yet. "Gabby, not yet. I need to figure out what I want to do yet." Gabby looked up at Matt when he said that. "What do you mean?" Matt bit his lip. "Gabby, I want to clarify something. I may have quit the CFD, but I'm not retiring." Gabby was confused when she heard Matt say that. "Ok?" Matt sighed. "I want to see what I can do with this money. I want to maybe…" Matt sighed. "Gabby, you already know that I have the bug to be an entrepreneur. I already have the construction company as a side job." Gabby agreed with Matt. "Yeah, so…how does that relate to this?" Matt bit his lip. "I'm thinking that maybe, I could try and either expand the construction company, or maybe venture into something else. I know, it's crazy to already think about that; but, I just had these ideas. Our life is limitless now, Gabby. We can do whatever we want. Hell, we could take over Molly's and expand it if we want."

Gabby agreed with her husband. "So, you want to take a minute and think about what we can do before we really touch this money?" Matt agreed, as that was precisely what he was trying to tell his wife. "Yes, that's precisely what I'm saying. Are you okay with that?" Gabby nodded, as that was smart. "That's smart, which is one of the many reasons I married my handsome husband." Matt smirked when he heard Gabby say that, only to grab the document he just gave to her; after which, he set it down on his side table and looked at his girl. "I think we both know another reason is due to the fact that I'm a great lover." Smirking, Gabby agreed as he most certainly is. "And that's what you want to do right now? Give me a bit of love?" Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife and smirked as he placed his hand on her neck, only to bend down and kiss the woman of his dreams: his gorgeous wife Gabriela Marie Casey. His forever.

And as he kissed her slowly, he smiled as he just took things nice and slow with his wife; while she wrapped her arms around his back and took things nice and slow with her husband. "God, I missed you." Matt agreed with his gorgeous wife, as he felt the same way. "I missed you too, and I'm so glad that you're okay." Gabby agreed with Matt, only to grab the covers and tug them up on top of the both of them as they shared a sweet kiss. "You cold?" Gabby nodded as she soon moved her hands to Matt's face, only to kiss him softly. "Don't move. I want to feel you take things nice and slow with me right now." Matt agreed with his wife. "Sex?" Gabby smiled. "You haven't offered to have sex with me in a while." Matt nodded. "That's due to the fact that I'm no longer scared that I'm going to kill you." Matt said as he bent down and kissed Gabby's neck, only to feel her push him away as she didn't understand. "What?"
