(Across the world in Long Island, New York Chris was finally settled in his parent's beach house. He's been in New York for a year taking care of his mother before she died a few months ago. He was going through some of their things when his girlfriend of just six months walked in.)
Gabby: Babe?
Chris: Up here.
Gabby: Are you sure you want to move in here? This house will need more work than just buying one.
Chris: Yes I'm sure. This house has so much potential and it is the home I grew up in.
Gabby: But there's nothing out here. How do you expect me to make it to work in time from here to Queens?
Chris: There is plenty to do out here. Gabby you knew about this move before we left Tennessee, whats with the change now?
Gabby: I don't know.
Chris: Whats going on?
Gabby: I should be asking you that same question.
Chris: What do you mean?
Gabby: I guess I should have said something when we first became serious, but I just thought that maybe it was you getting over something.
Chris: I'm fine Gabby.
Gabby: No your not fine Chris. It's like you here but you are not, just living life day by day like someone with a broken heart.
Chris: What that's crazy.
Gabby: (crosses her arms) OK tell me who's Marsha?
Chris: (gets quiet) Where did you hear that name from?
Gabby: You called out that name a few weeks ago while we were having sex. It was like you were in a daze.
Chris: You kidding right?
Gabby: No I'm not. That's why I feel like you are only with me to feel that void of whoever Marsha is.
Chris: She's no one ok? It was before we met so you have no concerns there.
Gabby: I just don't want to be second in this relationship from a woman from your past.
(He gets up and walks up to her cupping her face and kissing her.)
Chris: I promise you have no worries now can we finish this so I can take you out to see my hometown?
Gabby: (smiles) Ok, you better ber lucky I really really love you.
(After they were done for the day, they both showered but also made time for a little fun while doing it. He takes her to all the best places before they end up on the beach. She sits between his legs as he tells her stories from his childhood and his parents. While they sit and watch the sunset, his mind can't help but drift off to that special someone who will always have his heart.)
(Four months later Gabby was gone back home because no matter how hard he denied it, he knew he couldn't give her a heart that was taken. So instead of dwelling on another broken relationship, he throws himself into his work.)
(Now eight years later Mariska has graduated and is now the head physician at Bayside Pediatrics PC. Life has been challenging but she overcame it all and now has made a life for her and her children. She's been happily married to Jesse for four years and they share a two-year-old son together. They had moved to Queens, New York after Jesse's big promotion at this big law frim.)
(She was in the kitchen making breakfast on her first day off in a month. She has missed her children and husband terribly and just wanted to spend this time with them. As she was flipping the pancakes she felt two arms wrap around her legs.)
Mariska: Good morning baby.
Jason: Hungry mama.
Jesse: J come back here.
Mariska: (laughs) Why are you naked?
Jason: Potty.
Mariska: Oh baby.
(Just then she sees her husband come around the corner with a pullup and clothes for Jason.)
Jesse: He had an accident didn't we J?
Jason: Da.
Jesse: It's okay. You're still learning, right?
Jason: No.
(He walks up to Mariska and kisses her. She turns in his arms and hugs him around the waist as she bury her face in his neck.)
Jesse: Morning babe.
Mariska: Mmm good morning.
Jesse: How did you sleep last night?
Mariska: (kisses his neck) Wonderful thanks to you.
Jesse: Maybe we can have a repeat later tonight.
Mariska: Definitely. Now go make sure your son is dressed before he goes into the girl's room.
Jesse: Oh damn.
(Se smiles as she shakes her head watching him run after their son. By the time everyone comes to the table everything is laid out.)
Maeve: Wow Mom this looks great.
Imogen: Yeah Mom, can you take off work more often?
Mariska: I wish I could sweetie but mommy has a very important job and that's helping people.
Jesse: That's right, but let's be grateful for this time we do have with Mom before she goes back to work.
(They all sit and eat as she listens to her girls tell stories about school. After breakfast, while Jesse went to work, Mariska took the kids to the mall and then the park.)
(As soon as Jason sees the park he gets excited.)
Jason: Mommy mommy park.
Mariska: Yes park baby.
Jason: I want to slide.
Maeve: Mom can we get ice cream?
Imogen: Please?????
Mariska: After dinner.
Maeve: (pouts) Hmmm.
Imogen: It's always after dinner.
Mariska: (gives her daughter a look) Mo behave or there won't be nice cream.
Imogen: (looks down) Yes ma'am.
(They make it to the park and the girls get out and run for the swings while Mariska gets Jason.)
Mariska: Girls stay where I can see you.
Imogen: Ok mom.
Jason: Down.
Mariska: OK, ok just calm down.
Jason: Slide.
Mariska: Ok baby just hold mommy's hand ok.
(He grips her hand and pulls her towards the slide and she helps him as he climbs up before he slides down and into her arms. They spend a good hour and a half at the park before she gathers them and heads home.)
