(After a few weeks Jesse was finally home and the kids were so excited. Mariska cooked a special dinner and planned a special evening for when the kids went to bed. But she also knew she had to have a talk with Jesse about Chris. They were in bed after several hours of making up and sexual pent-up frustration.)
Mariska: So how's things coming in Las Vegas?
Jesse: It's great.
Mariska: (rubs his chest) Ok tell me about it. I want to know how it's going and have you started looking for people to run it.
Jesse: Almost.
Mariska: Come on give me something, I've barely seen you in the last six months. We used to talk about things like this afterwards and.
Jesse: (snaps) Look I just got home, the last thing I want to do is talk about work. I just want to enjoy the time I'm here in my home without someone bringing up work every damn second.
Mariska: (feeling hurt) I'm sorry. You're right, you've been working hard getting this off the ground and I should just be happy you're home.
Jesse: Thank you. I just want some peace before I have to go back in two weeks.
Mariska: Two weeks? Can't you get someone else to go in your place at least once?
Jesse: It's my business Mariska so no I can't get Doug to go in my place. What the fuck is with all the got damn questions?
Mariska: Don't you dare talk to me like that? I'm just trying to reconnect with my husband who's gone more than he's home. Our children ask me every night if you are coming home and to be honest Jesse I don't know myself. It's like we are just roommates sharing kids, but I'm the only one raising them.
Jesse: Well what do you want me to do about it?
Mariska: (shakes her head) Nothing. Just nothing.
(With that she gets up and heads into the bathroom slamming the door. After she locks the door she goes to splash eager on her face before turning on the shower. She notices Jesse's phone on the window seal but decides to leave it there. After a hot shower, she gets out, and as she drys her body off his phone chirp. She picks it up and sees a message from someone named Kim. Her fingers react before her mind does and next thing she's opening his messages.)
Kim: Hey baby.
Kim: You promised to let me know when you landed.
Kim: Last night was amazing. Your wife is a lucky woman if she's getting half of what you give me.
(She sees a photo of this Kim half-naked.)
Kim: I miss you.
Kim: I was just calling because I haven't heard from you. You must be with your wife and kids, just call me later.
Kim: When are you going to leave that nagging bitch and those bastard kids of hers.
(Mariska having seen enough feels like her chest is about to cave in. She has to hold on to the counter because she feels like she can't get any oxygen in her lungs.)
(She close her eyes before she takes a deep breath and opens the door as she walks towards the dresser. She looks over at the bed and notices Jesse fast asleep with one arm behind his head. After she gets dressed she places his phone on the nightstand and goes into the living room. There she falls to the sofa and the sobs break from within but she muffles them. She curls up on the sofa hugging her knees as those messages play over and over in her head.)
(By day two she couldn't take it anymore and decided to confront him. She noticed that he had become even more distant and it took him yelling thief son for her to snap.)
Jesse: Jason not now buddy.
Jason: Daddy play.
Jesse: I said not now.
Jason: (pouts) Play.
(Before she knew it Jesse had snatched him up and shook him a little hollering.)
Jesse: I SAID NOT NOW GOT DAMMIT.
Mariska: HEY!
(She walks up to him and pulls her crying son into her arms giving Jesse an angry look.)
Jesse: He needs to learn to listen.
Mariska: What the hell is your problem?
Jason: (grips her around the neck) Mama.
Mariska: Girls can you take your brother into your room please so Daddy and I can talk?
Them: Yes ma'am.
(They take Jason and go to their room and close the door.)
Mariska: What is your problem?
Jesse: I don't have time for this right now Mariska.
Mariska: Oh you're going to make time today Jesse. What the fuck is your issue grabbing and shaking our son the way you did?
Jesse: He needs to learn discipline.
Mariska: He is only one year old. He just wants to spend time with his father who he barely sees.
Jesse: I run a business so I have to work a lot.
Mariska: Does that business also involves you fucking your assistant?
Jesse: What did you just say?
Mariska: You heard me.
Jesse: Where did you get this bullshit from your mother, or maybe it was Kelli. You know your family never liked me, even after showing them what a good man I am.
Mariska: A good man. A good man doesn't cheat on his wife Jesse or neglect his children.
Jesse: Where are you getting this cheating from?
Mariska: I saw the text messages the night you came back. You left your cell in the bathroom and it went off.
Jesse: So you decided to disrespect me and go through my phone.
Mariska: I wasn't going to but my gut told me there was something I needed to see. And surprise surprise, my gut never leads me wrong. So tell me, how long have you been lying about going out of town on business? How long have you been fucking that tramp behind my back?
(Getting angry he moves closer to her until he's in her face.
Jesse: You don't get to ask me that.
Mariska: (smirks) I'm your wife, so I can ask you anything I want. But I know I won't get the truth, you a sorry excuse for a man. I should have listened to my gut and never married your pathetic ass.
(Just as those words left her mouth his arm came up and swung hitting her across the face hard. She looses her balance and hits the floor shocked and in disbelief that he hit her. She looks up at him with tears in her eyes as he looks down at her.)
