Season 3: Episode 5

Brody smiled widely as she joined Gabe in the school corridor. It was yet another day at school and things had gone well over the weekend and now they were facing another week at school.

'Well, Gabe and I certainly had fun two nights ago.' Brody remarked. 'Still, no matter what happens, we'll always be willing to stand for each other.'

As she thought this she turned to Gabe who smiled widely at her and they kissed softly.

"How dare you!?"

They start and part only to see the school resource officer that they had been introduced to only last week, William Carver, standing there.

"Sir, what-?" Gabe began.

But he was cut off by Carver shockingly towering over him, edging himself between Gabe and Brody, separating them.

"How dare you think you can force yourself on a girl like that, you-"

"Excuse me, I did no such thing, you-" Gabe interrupted.

Carver cut him off furiously. "Don't you dare interrupt me, you should get out of here, before you end up in trouble for your actions."

With that he turned to Brody and was startled to see her glaring at him. He brushed it off however and cleared his throat.

"Are you alright Miss Burress?" He queried.

"I was." Brody snapped. "Until you interrupted us."

"Interrupted, Miss Burress, this...boy was-?"

"Kissing my girlfriend." Gabe snarled.

Carver snarled at this, beyond outraged.

He rounded on Gabe again, well aware that they were drawing attention from the crowds, something which he knew he could work to his advantage, to put this stupid punk in his place.

"Oh, girlfriend, don't make me laugh, as if she would-"

Brody cut him off this time. "I would and I have. Gabe is my boyfriend and you interrupted us, sir. Honestly, this is ridiculous."

Carver turned to her, eyes wide with shock and anger, before growling.

"Oh, this is ridiculous." He snapped, showing disdain. "How could you betray your own kind."

That made Brody snap, she knew right away what was going on here and she was not going to let it stand.

She stalked around Carver and stood by Gabe, taking his hand and then spoke clearly, firmly.

"My kind, what kind is that, human kind, because Gabe and I are both human and both love each other and have had a happy relationship ever since last year and we're still going strong."

Carver was startled by this, outraged by the was they were both glared at him, at Brody's words and the way in which she described her relationship with Gabe.

'This is preposterous, that damn Cuban brat has turned her head with his lies.' He thought bitterly before snapping. "You need to stop with this nonsense girl, can't you see he's-"

"Um, Mr. Carver?"

He turned, annoyed at the interruption but relented on seeing one of the students there, looking anxious.

"What?"

The student shook his head. "Brody's telling the truth, she and Gabe have been dating since last year and they're very much in love."

There were murmurs of assent and agreement from practically everybody else in the hall, enough to make Carver realize his plan had backfired, the crowd were working against him instead of with him. Furious and disgruntled he stalked away, vowing to make sure that Cuban brat stopped violating an innocent girl like Brody Burress.

Violet bit back a groan as she considered. She'd been worrying over this for so long, but she was getting tired of it, she was just going in circles, getting nowhere with all her worries.

'I've...I've gotta do something, I can't just sit around and wait.' She thought to herself.

Taking a deep breath she made her way outside the school and over to the baseball practice area where Clem was. Violet smiled as she took in the pleasing sight of Clem in her baseball uniform, having the practice machine fire balls while she worked on his batting. Spotting her Clem finished up and walked over.

"Hey Vi, what's up?" She greeted her.

Violet smiled. "Nothing much, I um…"

Clem bit her lip. "Hey, I heard about that attempted break in at your place, are you okay?"

"Oh you…?" Violet gasped before composing herself. "Um, yeah, I'm fine...spooked, but I'm okay."

"Glad to hear it." Clem nodded.

There was a pause, a pause in which both of them felt the awkwardness in the air and Clem sighed.

"Um, so…"

Violet shook her head. "Fuck it. Clem, look, I need to tell you something. I...I…"

She groaned, she was already ruining it, why couldn't she just get the words out. But then she saw Clem's expectant expression and she stopped, feeling her face heat up.

"Were you going to say what I think you were going to say, Vi?" She asked. "Were you gonna ask me out?"

Violet was definitely blushing now. "Urgh, fuck, trust me to...yes, I'm sorry, I shouldn't presume so much I just...I have feeling for you, have for a while now. I just never had the courage to confess."

"Until now." Clem pointed out. "I feel the same way you know and to answer you, yes...I will gladly be your girlfriend."

Violet's eyes lit up at that and, sensing right away what to do, both girls moved closer and soon their lips met.

"So, you're sure about this?" John was asking as he and Sarah walked through one of the school corridors.

Sarah smiled widely, her eyes bright and while there was a definite blush in her cheeks, she was looking more confident than anyone had ever seen her.

"Yes John, I'm sure." She said happily. "This weekend, we'll have our most important date yet, I think we're both long overdue such a date, huh?"

John laughed softly. "I agree, I agree."

With that the two softly kissed, overjoyed to have such a chance and, Sarah knew, finally taking a step out of father's overprotectiveness, no matter what he thought about it.
