Chapter 2-11: Way Too Into This

"I got distracted talking about our new clothes, but I was floored by the inside of Kalim's house," Trey says.

"You're telling me! I was completely overwhelmed, and I barely saw any of it!" Cater says.

Curious, Grim asks, "Really? What was it like?"

"It's really big," Sereia says.

Then Trey says, "See those huge double doors? Right through there is a ballroom bigger than anything I've ever seen."

"It was so enormous, I just had to take Trey for a little spin on the dance floor!" Cater says.

"You guys are gettin' way too into this," Grim bluntly says.

Trey cries out, "Hey, I wasn't dancing! I was getting dragged around by Cater."

"But yeah, it's supes fancy. All the glamor and glitz you could want," Cater says.

Then Malleus says, "There was ample use of gold in the decor and it was all very shiny. It was a far different look from my castle in Briar Valley."

"But like, we couldn't just leave our bags sitting around in a place like that, you know? So we asked what to do with them… And they took us to the treasury. There were PILES of treasure, and everything was so golden and sparkly—I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it!" Cater says.

"It felt really weird leaving our luggage with all that stuff," Trey says.

"I have to agree. It's kind of odd about our things being left in there," Briar says.

But Jamil points out, "Oh, that's our newest treasury. It was built just this year."

"New treasury?" Jasper questions.

"Wait, you mean there are more of them?!" Cater asks, shocked.

"Yeah, there's over 10," Jamil says.

"That many?!" Everyone reacts in shock.

Then Jamil explains, "The items are sorted by size and value. That determines which vault they're sent to. The most valuable family treasures that have been passed down go in the first treasury, which is deep within the manor."

"I snuck in there so many times as a kid!" Kalim says.

"Yes, and caused a huge panic every time. You even broke something once!" Jamil says.

Cater laughs, "Kalim, who knew you were such a little scamp!"

"Yup! That's also where I met the carpet I ride around on at school," Kalim says.

"Oh I remember that carpet," Briar says.

"Me too. It lives in the treasury at the Scarabia Dorm back at school, right?" Tanzanite replies.

"Yep. That's the one," Kalim says.

"Which is the most important one of all!" Jamil says, "Even though it's only a replica of the legendary magic carpet, it's valuable enough to be a national treasure! I still can't believe you took it out of the country and brought it with you to school."

"Dad wasn't sure about it at first, but he eventually said it was cool," Kalim answers, " 'Okay, okay, take it! You two better get along.' I still remember how he beamed when he said that."

"He spoils you rotten…" Jamil says.

"It all worked out! Now the carpet's a great friend to all of us!" Kalim says.

"Yeah. I remember it actually helped us get out of the dorm during that incident," Jasper says.

Grim groans, "Don't remind me, we ended up crashing into the Octabinelle Dorm, and we had to pay for damages."
