They waited until the guards left, then quickly slipped into the room. Peter locked the door.
"Okay, we should be fine." They all had their tone at a whisper, to prevent waking Darethend. "Olly, are you sure you want to do this?"
Olly brought out his sword. "I have to. I need to end this. Honor or not, this is the only way we're going to do this."
He held his sword above his head, then stabbed it down into the figure in the bed. It stopped before hitting Darethend, a cawed hand holding it in place by the tip of the sword.
"Huh?"
It waved his sword around, shaking Olly free from it. The person sat up, revealing that Darethend was, in fact, not the one in the bed. His eyes looked similar to Dimentio's they both being a pale light blue and his slit pupils white instead of black and yellow.
He laughed, surprisingly high pitched for a male. "You idiots! You thought it was going to be King Darethend! Ahahaha!" He floated from the bed, kicking his feet and howling with laughter. He stopped suddenly when he saw Dimentio. "And who are you? You look like me. I haven't seen another of our kind since the Great One ate them all."
Dimentio's ears drooped a bit. "What the-Get away from me!" He shoved the demon away by the face.
The demon smiled. "You even kind of act like one of us. We tend to go a little INSANE! Especially when the Great One starts starving us..."
"Cut it with the 'great one' talk! You are really creeping me out right now!"
He grabbed Dimentio's face and licked his cheek. "Bleh, part human. That won't work at all. If we don't satisfy him, then we're all going to die."
"Wh-why did y-you just lick me...?" Dimentio sounded emotionally hurt.
He grabbed Olly. "This guy however..." He licked Olly's hand. "Nope, tastes like paper. What about the Mushroom?"
Peter held out his staff. "You are NOT licking me. Weirdo..."
Magica tried to slap him when he came closer to her, so he backed away and gave up.
"Okay, so nobody wants to be a sacrifice. That's fine...But Darethend promised me that I would be able to satisfy the Great One with his trespassers. So far, the only thing we have are a few princesses. He said he wanted to kill Davidonell, Dimitri, and Gwendolyn himself, so that excludes three...Excluding you group of freaks and...Yeah, we still only have the princesses. Hey, fellow demon! Do you know any full bloods that wouldn't mind getting eaten?"
"Nobody wants to get eaten?!" Olly said. "And leave Dimentio alone. Since you obviously want to talk so much, why don't you tell us who this 'Great One' is, and what kind of demon you and Dimentio are?"
"Dimentio? Clever name." He mocked.
"Shut it, that was given to me by a friend of mine." Dimentio crossed his arms.
"First, I need to see if I'm right. Can you show me your demon form?"
"I can't enter it on will."
"Okay."
He kicked Dimentio in the gut and the jester moaned in pain while lying on the ground. The demon forcefully revealed Dimentio's tail and inverted-colored hair, then checked Dimentio's teeth before he slapped the demon's hands away from his face.
"Checks out! He's a glutton demon like I am!"
Dimentio started laughing. "Glutton demon?! You've got to be joking! I'm probably the most malnourished person alive! Nice try with the joke, but next time come up with something better!" Dimentio started crying from laughing too hard, getting a concerned look from Olly.
The demon rubbed his tail. "I-I wasn't joking."
Dimentio stopped laughing, but clearly still didn't believe him. "Alright, fine. Keep going. What's this Great One and why are you treating it like some sort of deity?"
"He's the Glutton Demon. The Seven Deadly Sin one. If we don't keep him satisfied, he eats us instead. Of course, there comes with the downside of us also needing to eat a lot in order to properly use our magic. If we don't then we get really sick and I threw up once using my magic too much. But Darethend promised me that I'd have plenty of people to give to the Great One, so I'll be able to live! Before Dimentio...I thought I was the only one left. I-I'm so happy!"
"Sick? From using your magic...?" He thought about Izuku's world again. He'd thrown up a lot there, and blamed it on the corruption from the Chaos Heart and his lactose intolerance; which most times were actually caused by. He gently rested his forehead on the ground. "He might actually be right...Great..."
"I don't think so," Peter said. "Dimentio has a lactose allergy. A bad one."
Dimentio glared at him.
"If he's an actual 'glutton demon' he wouldn't right? Since you guys eat everything?"
The demon tapped his tail. "Well, that's not true. He's part magic user, so not only does he actually need to eat more than we usually do to keep up with his really strong magic, but also that could cause him to have an allergy to food. Of course, those are really rare because nobody likes dating gluttonies because our...diet, so unless Dimentio's other parent was fine buying groceries like every other day then he's probably adopted."
"My biological father is Davidonell."
The demon gave him a confused look. "But neither Sandrahara or Tinala were glutton demons...And it didn't run in their families...What-"
Dimentio shrugged. "Everybody thought I was a wrath demon!"
"I can see that. They mainly get confused by our eyes. They stay one color until we get older, where the pupils become visible when we mature. The wrath demons also have the one-colored eye thing."
Olly tilted his head slightly. "Tinala? Tee-nah-lah...Who's that?"
"His second wife. After Sandrahara was killed sneaking around, he remarried about eleven years later. Tinala was his second wife, and they supposedly had a daughter? But I think that's just a rumor because last I checked, he had released his magic and a bunch of the King's men stole that."
"You're not going to attack us?" Magic asked.
He shook his head. "I was just the diversion while Darethend does stuff in the ballroom. He said something about a...'beautiful woman in need of a bit of love.' But I have no idea what that means."
"I, personally, dislike this 'Great One,'" Dimentio said, crossing his arms. "You should kill him."
"What? I can't do that!"
"Why not? He won't be able to chase you, because he would be dead! He seems like a thorn in your side, and the only way to deal with that is to remove it!"
"I-" He closed his mouth.
"I make a fair point, no? From one glutton demon to another. You should trust me, I've been living on the streets for a long time, so I know how to deal with problems. If he's causing a big starvation throughout your demon community, removing him is the best way to go. Plus, you'd no longer have to worry about working with Darethend anymore since he's doing the same thing to his people...Haven't you seen how pudgy that man is? What a glutton!"
The demon smiled a bit. "You make a good point, Dimentio. I'm sure we can be good friends. My name is Rudiger, by the way."
"Rudiger?" Olly repeated. "That's not a name I've heard before. But can you tell us about this daughter rumor and David 'releasing his magic?'"
"Okay, get ready cause there's a lot to go over."
"Okay. Go ahead."
Rudiger clapped his hands together. "Alright. So when Davidonell married Tinala, he decided he didn't want to be a magic user anymore. He used an ancient spell to separate his magic from him. I'm not sure what he was going to do with it, but then the King's men broke in while he was out at a meeting with the resistance and killed Tinala and stole the magic. They got attacked by a band of thieves while heading back to the castle and they lost contact with that group. I don't know what happened afterwards, but there's been a rumor floating around recently that Davidonell has both a daughter and a son. I wonder who the daughter is..."
Dimentio bit his lip.
"I see," Olly said. "So what about the ballroom? He's in there now?"
"Yeah, but I wouldn't go in there if I were you. I overheard he enchanted the whole room! Unless you want something to happen to you, I'd wait until he comes back to the throne room!"
"Okay, so we head to the throne room. Go it. Thank you."
"Of course! From one glutton demon to another!" He flew off.
